Neopets Zine - Krawk Island (2019)
I joined Neopets in 2003 when I was just 11 years old, and it's remained a huge part of my life. It was the first practical application of art I'd seen outside animated films, and inspired me to create worlds and characters and to draw every day.
I still credit Neopets with kickstarting my dream of a career in art, so it was a great honour to be asked to participate in my first Zine! I had so much fun representing some of my favourite characters from the wild, unlawful world of Krawk Island!

Horace Gifford (1932-92), just like his peer Andrew Geller, designed a significant number of houses on Long Island or better Fire Island (which he also helped transform) that suited the leisure gay lifestyle developing there. The houses Gifford designed are modest in size but rich in formal and spatial inventiveness and showcase the architect’s design talent. At the same time they occasionally reference Gifford’s mentor Louis Kahn’s architecture. Predominantly built in the communities of The Pines and Cherry Grove the 60 beach houses Gifford realized in just twenty years between 1960 and 1980 were often, but not exclusively, tailored to the wishes of gay clients. Gifford, also gay, was a dashing fellow who not only charmed his clients but sometimes also entered into relationships/affairs with them.
In 2013 Metropolis Books published Christopher Bascom Rawlins’s „Fire Island Modernist - Horace Gifford and the Architecture of Seduction“, a fantastic and page-turning monograph that, as Clifford Pearson wrote in Architectural Record, „
is not some musty tome from the shelves of a university library“. Instead it is more of a double-polar exploration of the architect’s work and life that focuses as much on the architecture as it does on the particular circumstances it came to fruition in.
That Gifford later died due to complications related to AIDS lends the narrative a bitter dimension as it also sheds light on the hedonistic and careless life on Fire Island that should later be overshadowed by the dreadful disease. But despite this somewhat bitter ending the book lives up to its title and in carefully selected photos and materials plastically displays the seductive qualities of Gifford’s houses. And we have to thank Gifford’s long-term partner Robert Greenfield who placed his heirs under the obligation to preserve the architect’s archive. Thanks to this and Bascom Rawlinson’s efforts the present monograph is an enchanting and important book on a wonderful architect!

lrmmef hcs
- all of them are super physically affectionate, tending to squish on the same couch or stand shoulder to shoulder (all pretty touchstarved)
- adam leaves flowers everywhere, whenever he visits ef headquarters he makes fresh bouquets, and replaces the ones in mission creek weekly
- kaz and skylar bicker constantly but are super protective of each other and also platonically hold hands all the time
- speaking of skylar when she came out to bree bree got her a little lesbian pin and skylar started collecting them, amassing a large collection (for her bday one year bree got them a button maker. it’s skylars favorite present to this day)
- kaz loves giving people nicknames, it’s his way of showing he trusts them
- bree superspeeds to mission creek weekly so she and leo can keep up their gossip and nail painting sesh
- leo chase (and occasionally kaz) build robots for the annual robot fighting ring (kaz and leo always come up with flashy ideas that chase adds reluctantly)
- adam teaches chase how to make a bouquet for kaz for their first date and kaz pressed and saved one of each type so he never forgot (that was the date where adam gave the shovel talk, and also the one where he realized maybe he didn’t need too)
- all of them added personalized features to their mission suits (both elite force and lab rats suits) to better match skill sets and personal aesthetics
- chase absolutely adores romcoms, he and tasha will watch them together and cry (at ef chase and oliver watch them together)
- leo taylor and logan have their own official bionic team which the president calls on every so often. leo unofficially calls it leo and the heartbreakers (he also wanted them to start a band but taylor said no)
- kaz has the best music taste (according to him) and has so many playlists and djs whenever the team does road-trips or hangouts
- megahertz and tecton are kazs father figures and when kaz introduces chase to them megahertz loves him while tecton is skeptical (techertz and chaz are mirrors fight me)
- chase and bree get mistaken for being twins all the time, that one time for halloween bree made them go as the shining twins
- kaz and oliver have had a secret handshake since they were six
- kaz and chase got mistaken for being a couple long before they ever got together
- leo is douglass favorite (with chase in second) not that he’d ever say
- leo uses a mobility aid to get around on most days since it takes the pressure off his bionic leg
- leo and janelle are in a qpr and were childhood best friends turned acquaintances turned friends to qpr
- for the longest time in middle school people thought oliver and kaz were dating bc they only hung out with each other and they were super physically affectionate (they always discouraged the rumor but allos are on something else)
- douglas fidgets with his jewelry constantly
- when bree and chase were working at tech town adam and leo would come in all the time to annoy them
- kaz has tried multiple times to get a job at the domain but wallace and clyde do not trust him to work there and not slack off
- jordan and skylar still meet for the monthly gng game and the two meet up outside of that to work on characters and play with the rest of the mighty mice
- chase has been collecting books since he left the basement and keeps them stashed over his room at ef the academy and his room back at mission creek
- chase has had so many breakdowns about being not human enough and being called robot and unfeeling (not to project onto him more-)
- the rats and the mice love to watch shows together (their favorite is doctor who)
- douglas and horace watch reality shows together and spend the entire time throwing popcorn at the screen and yelling at characters for being dumb (donald banned baking shows from his the ef hqs and his house since tvs kept getting broke from either the rats or douglas or tasha getting angry and throwing something. the house almost burned down once since adam tried to prove a point and failed)
pt. 2 will probably be coming since i cant stop thinking about these shows

I started rewatching House MD with some friends and I remembered something that immediately I tought it was just a weird dream but now that I have checked I can confirm that it is indeed real so I have to share it with the world.
I present to everyone the official 2009 Italian Mickey Mouse House MD parody:
Tumblr media
With Mickey as House, Goofy as Foreman, Horace as Chase, Clarebelle as Cameron and Minnie as Cuddy. Sadly there is no Wilson in this version because I guess that the writer shipped House and Cuddy.
The only things I actually remember about this story was that someone was trying to buy the hospital and Dr. Mouse saves it and then the whole team plus Cuddy ended up crashing in a helicopter and found themself on the island from Lost.
Now for some little extra things from the story:
Here we have Dr. Mouse making his entrance in the hospital as he does everyday
Tumblr media
And here he is talking to a patient
Tumblr media
(Translation: Mouse "Good sir, would you be so kind as to tell us were you live, so that we can ransack your house for your own good" Patient, screaming in anger, "I DON'T THINK SO").
Hope everyone liked this look into the beautiful world of italian disney comics (I swear we have some good ones and I might post about them one day if I find the copies of Topolino were they are or if I ever re-read through PK)

Do you have any new headcanons? I found the ones in your pin very interesting!
Firstly: forgive me for the delay in responding, I started collecting my new headcanons and ended up forgetting to come back here to show them.
Anyway, my new headcanons:
1. Olive's tiara/crown is also made from a heavy material to help her stay on the ground and not fly away. It's extra weight to give her more comfort on the ground.
2. The council of ymbrynes never learned that Bentham accidentally created the hollowgasts. If they had known, Bentham would probably have been arrested. Even if he didn't create the hollows on purpose, he definitely planned a small genocide. This is probably considered a crime by the council.
3. Peculiar souls are not acidic, ambrosia was only acidic because the Wights wanted it, they made it that way. An addictive and corrosive liquid. It was their way of harming their peculiar "allies".
4. Caul always knew that Miss Peregrine was the successor of one of the 12 great ymbrynes who sealed Abaton and this probably made him hate her even more.
5. Nothing bad happened with the old Enoch loop, he probably just didn't suit the place and asked to change loops and ended up in Cairnholm,As grumpy as Enoch is, he likes living there, if he didn't like it he would have asked to change loops at the first opportunity.
6. Every time Abe visited Emma after the war he always went with the intention of ending everything with her, but personally he couldn't, he never had the courage to break her heart personally. Ending everything by letter was easier for him and more painful for her.
7. Claire is very young, she was probably found by Miss Peregrine when she was still very little and Ymbryne adopted her, that's why Claire is so attached to Miss P, she's the closest thing Claire has ever known to a mother.
8.Just like Olive and Noor, Claire is also a peculiar "Infant" she was born with a second mouth on the back of her head and her story must be quite sad.
9. When Victor's body was brought to the island, Enoch was the one who sewed up the entire body, he was the only one who had the courage to do this for his friend.
10. Millard has never feared being forgotten by Miss Peregrine, and probably enjoys being in her presence because she never fails to notice him. She feels his peculiarity, it's as if she sees him. Even though she doesn't really see him, she feels him, she always knows where he is, he will never be forgotten by her, she is the only one who notices his presence all the time.
11. Horace's dreams are completely meaningless, sometimes he manages to interpret and avoid the bad future, and sometimes he cannot understand what he dreamed but tries to explain and everything comes out confused and meaningless.
12. During the entire time that Fiona was missing, she was recovering from the injuries caused by her fall and the violence of the wights.
13. When Miss Peregrine saved Abe she probably didn't know what his peculiarity was, he was too young to be able to kill a hollow, he probably only discovered his gift when he was older and managed to survive an attack by hollowgasts. After all, there is no way for him to discover his power without having met Hollow in person.
14. Hugh has a whole routine organized for his bees so that their life in his stomach is as comfortable as if they lived in a normal hive.
15. There was probably a burial for Caul, and for all the current wights, after all, before they discovered what they had become, they were all presumed dead.
16. The constant transformations of ymbrynes into their respective birds harm their bone health. Their bones keep changing size and becoming hollow, their joints are also damaged, which is why they develop bone and joint problems early. Like Miss Peregrine's arthritis and how Miss Avocet became a wheelchair user.
17. Mr White and his men always knew that the children were with Caul and not Miss P. He was only so worried about knowing where the Falcon was because he knew that it was his master, and he was worried that he wasn't with the children. The wights were only chasing the children to force them to look for Miss Wren faster.
18. Wights do not have complete control or trust in hollows, and they can see the creatures, but they do not trust them enough to ride hollows like Jacob does.
19. Miss Peregrine's greatest fear is losing one of her children. She's already lost many children to tragic deaths, and she definitely doesn't want to go through that again.
20. The ymbrynes of the primordial era of the peculiars were also giants. Gigantic and very wise bird-women.

Tell us about your headcanons, you have enormous creativity
Thank you đŸ€
My headcanons are few, and I like to put them in my fanfics.
Lorraine was actually the person who tried to kidnap Emma when she was a child.
When Jack "died in 1908" Myron and Alma had a better brotherly relationship, without Jack's negative influence Myron was not bad with Alma. But this is not beneficial for her, as she receives all the brotherly love that was always denied to her, she truly begins to love her brother, and that is why when he betrays her again it hurts so much. That's why she says that the people we love the most are the ones who hurt us the most.
The one who made Alma's parents kill themselves is Caul himself. Miss Avocet would never approve of Alma visiting her parents, she is aware of what was going to happen and that it was dangerous for Alma, Alma herself does not remember where she came from since she was a baby, so the only people who could have told Alma where her parents were were Myron and Jack, they were older kids and probably remember where they lived. Alma's trip is a failure and later before 1908 Caul also goes to visit his parents, when he is as poorly received as Alma, he revolts, those were his biological parents, the people who should have loved him no matter what, who were good parents in his childhood, Caul's anger is so great that he says his name and uses his selective memory erasure powers to suggest his parents and make them commit "suicide". I like this headcanon so much that I put it in ANE.
Alma has thalassophobia, since her parents' suicide she really doesn't like the sea, so she freaks out with rage when Victor sinks the Cairnholm ferry with her and the children inside, She is afraid that someone she loves and is responsible for will drown. After Golan threw her into the ocean inside a cage, this phobia became even worse.
Miss Avocet blames herself for the existence of the Hollowgasts and what Caul has become. I always wanted to see this old woman admit this in the books, since she didn't I dedicated an entire chapter in ANE to her blaming herself, since she obviously has a large share of the blame. She could have suppressed the ClayWings when they were still harmless, she could have actually arrested them all before 1908, things ended tragically because she was negligent. As leader of the ymbryne council she should have solved the problem while it was still possible to solve it. And nothing convinces me that she never realized that Alma was hurt by Caul SINCE SHE WAS A BABY.
When the children want to leave, Bronwyn always goes with them, even if she doesn't agree with what they're going to do. She does this because she fears that without her they will die just like what happened to Victor, she thinks she needs to be with her friends, that she needs to defend them at all costs, She thinks she has a duty to protect everyone since she couldn't protect her brother.
Whenever the children accidentally kill someone inside the loop in their village-attack games, Miss Peregrine lets Enoch keep the deceased's organs, The past solves the problem, and Enoch gets new toys.
Alma sleeps very little because she is afraid that someone will break into the house during the night, Wights mainly, and because Horace sleepwalks, she has to make sure he doesn't fall down the stairs or jump from the roof of the house while he sleeps.
Nothing tragic happened with Enoch's previous loop, he just didn't fit in there very well and asked for a transfer, it took a long time for them to grant it to him, and when he was given the choice of a new loop to live in, Miss Peregrine's loop seemed perfect by Enoch's standards. It's a secluded island, with a pleasant climate for Enoch, with few people, and many animals for him to take the organs and a relatively permissive ymbryne.
The engine of the panloopticon has always been a living person, so the engine is a human-sized compartment filled with anesthetic gas, and that's why Bentham kidnapped people to try to turn the panloopticon back on.
The panloopticon's engine works like a gigantic Hemodialysis machine, taking blood from a hollow and making that same blood connect all the ports and return to the hollow's body. Bentham can't let his engine die right away so this process is very quick, but very painful and since it takes a long time for hollows to starve to death Bentham had found a perfect new engine.
Bentham and Marion once had a relationship but, as is obvious, it was toxic and ended very quickly.
Claire is also a baby and was born with a second mouth without teeth, obviously she was rejected and Alma saved her, that's why she acts as if Alma was her mother, Alma is the only mother figure she has ever known, the only one who has ever cared for her.
All the children started to age after TDODA.
Caul and Bentham have all the secondary abilities of the ymbrynes such as being able to sense peculiarities and erase memories, and obviously transform into a bird, they just didn't inherit the temporal abilities.
Benny's ghost lives in his mansion as a guardian of the panloopticon.
Well I think that's it, if I create new headcanons I'll post about them.

Wifies does, in fact, feel incredibly bad for Horace and the builders. The whole payment thing is kind of. . . He’s not sure what to do about that, though. Parrot isn’t easy to convince, even when it’s Wifies doing the convincing, and they really don’t have much of anything right now. There is, though, one thing Wifies can do at least kind of effectively, and that’s baking really good treats. Ken skimmed off the top of this batch of stuffed croissants, but it should still be enough for the whole team. They’re working on the northern side of the island when Wifies finally finds them.
Horace is an easy form to spot, standing on top of a quartz support beam. He lands a few blocks away on the ground level and waves at Horace.
“Hey!”
Horace sees him and waves back, Elytra wings spreading as he hops down.
“Hey, it’s been a minute!”
“It has, sorry about that.”
Wifies digs a shulkerbox out of his inventory and places it down between them with a smile.
“I made ham and cheese stuffed croissants.”
Horace takes two before calling over the rest of his builders, who descend upon the shulkerbox like vultures. Golden carrots are great for healing, but nothing beats actual food in terms of taste.
“Actually, I wanted to show you something,” Horace says around a mouthful. “You got a minute?”
“Yeah, definitely.”
It’s difficult to not start worrying immediately. Horace finishes eating and waves Wifies down a paved path that weaves between buildings and courtyards and flowering trees that shiver with the void cold.
“So I noticed you don’t really like the color palette,” Horace says, scratching his jaw absently.
“I do like it,” Wifies says automatically. “It’s pretty. Regal.”
“White and blue isn’t for everyone.”
“Really, I like it!”
He’s more of a warm, jewel toned guy, but that’s neither here nor there. He’s left everything in regards to the building in Horace’s capable hands, and everything does look wonderful.
“Regardless, I wanted to show you this.”
The stop in front of a building that looks all the same to Wifies. It’s white with a blue roof, but the door is spruce strangely enough.
“Go in.”
Wifies doesn’t get the feeling that this is some kind of trap, but he slides a totem into his hand subtly as he pushes the door open. Nothing happens— of course nothing happens, duh— but he’s surprised by the inside decor. The whole room is warm with candles and lanterns, floor padded with deep violet carpets and walls lined with spruce planks.
“What?” he says dumbly.
“Come on now, enter properly.”
So he does, slipping the totem back into his inventory as he steps in. There's not a lot of space inside, but there’s a kitchen on one end and something like a couch-bed hybrid on the other end. Horace taps the lid of a stack of barrels lightly and grins.
“I wasn’t going to let you be miserable in a Civ I’m building,” he says as Wifies pokes around. “You’re way too nice. So I bothered Ken into telling me what you like.”
“Why not ask Parrot?” Wifies asks, picking up a black pillow and squeezing it.
Horace doesn’t answer. Instead he asks, “Do you like it?”
“I do. Thank you.”
Wifies turns to smile at him, hugging the pillow a little. Horace looks proud, practically preening on the spot.
“Did you just want easy access to my food?” Wifies teases.
“No! I’m chivalrous. I have good intentions.”
Wifies snorts but believes him anyway.

Out of our ‘five adults’, who do you think is the most and least into shower sex?
For me-
1. Horace (He loves water. It’s why he had a pet shark.)
2. Douglas (Anywhere, anytime guy)
3. Tasha (Just the middle ground)
4. Donald (doesn’t like- it messes up his hair since water, so he gets whiny about it.)
5. Leo Mendel (Was in a prison underwater for a time. He ain’t into it)
Horace (yes he loves water)
Douglas (showers are good places to think and fuck)
Donald (he can just blowdry his hair)
Leo (he can learn to like it. baths are worse)
Tasha (her hair will get wet and baths are better)
