hey guys!! just want to clear some stuff up when it comes to being aspec :)

recently we’ve been seeing some veeeeerrryyyyy incorrect takes, such as the following screenshot (no i didn’t blur the name, think of this as a blocklist for you)

as an arospec ace collective, we feel like we’re in a pretty good position to address this. this also isn’t the only person we’ve seen say stuff like this, but we don’t feel like hunting down other harmful takes :)

firstly, if we’re being loud it’s because we aren’t being heard.

secondly, who are you to comment on our struggles? we’re white, and as such we don’t pretend to understand the discrimination and struggles that poc face. we know that we have very different experiences and aren’t in a position to say what is and isn’t a struggle for them.

as for these struggles, parents maybe wanting grandkids is nothing. we are excluded from queer spaces for being too straight and not queer enough. we’re discriminated against by allo cishet people because we’re too gay and weird and immoral. when we create our own spaces we are told that we don’t deserve them. our only community is each other, and even then it’s filled with infighting because we’re all being told that we don’t belong anywhere.

we are told that we are fucked in the head, belong in a psych ward, are just trying to get attention, shouldn’t be allowed around people, are sociopaths/psychopaths (which is also ableist), are just naive/immature/ugly, just need an excuse for not getting laid, and are predators. these are literally all things that we (this collective) have been called personally.

we can’t talk about it in therapy or to doctors because now that’s the problem that needs to be fixed and we need to unpack the trauma that caused it. they are literally trying to tell us that our orientation is not real and is actually a problem or disorder that needs to be solved and changed. that is literal fucking conversion therapy

and we sincerely doubt that many aspec people would struggle with dealing with even worse aphobes because we do anyways. daily. from our family, our community, our healthcare, coworkers, classmates, and just about everyone else we interact with.

kind of a fan of tumblr’s slightly more algorithmically elements for reminding me of the hell’s other people construct for themselves but this one hits like five of the boxes. How do people do this to themselves? it’s such a bizarre way to act over media I genuinely do not believe is capable of stirring an emotional response the metaphysics of disability here are unintentionally really funny but disability is not a coherent ontological framework, it’s a vague descriptor for literally thousands of different things none of which lend themselves to categorizing Moralizing over fiction is incredibly lame.

Liking harry potter is also incredibly lame, it’s not morally wrong nor transphobic and you do not get to decide that lol. people literally do get "cured” of their disabilities all the time, many of them have a positive experience in doing so. this is not what eugenics is.

it's very disheartening to see several LU fans have publicly announce how much they despise [trope]/[character interpretation] when they've literally read *my* fics with those exact parameters. it makes me think, what, do they hate my fics now? have they always hated my fics and were just being nice? am *i* the reason they hate these tropes/characters interpretations? i ended up blocking like ten readers because they just came out swinging with, "oh yeah, that thing i told you i liked? well in reality i fucking hate them and im sick of you writing them"

my only problem is that i have to be careful. i've done a lot of "thanos snaps" already, for various transgressions, but if i do too many i won't have anybody left to engage with. it's not like i haven't done my share of complaining, but i do it in private with a single consenting friend. there's a lot of blogs i've never seen before who's only goal in life is apparently to tear down fandom creators, so i won't have any qualms about blocking them. others, though, i'll keep an eye on and hope they learn their lesson.

The belief of narcissistic abuse is not only harmful towards victims of abuse but also towards narcissists in general. It takes the blame off the abuser, makes it more likely for victims with NPD to be blamed and also just targets people with NPD in general. It's disgusting. We would probably do that block list idea but I feel like we'd get a bit too triggered lol

I recently learned about the term glass child. It comes a casual two decades too late to be of much use to me, but it is still nice to know a name for my youth.

And I was...forgotten. A glass child.

The junkie wants, the junkie gets. That was a golden rule of my youth.

I am not talking about material stuff. We had decent money, so getting boots was no issue. I think. But anything else? Something bad happens or something breaks - my fault. Junkie throws me on a table, I get blamed for "breaking" the table. I want to watch a movie on TV and bought myself from my own hard earned money (delivering newspapers, a classic) snacks - mother feeds them to the junkie the day before the movie because it wanted snacks.

Junkie once more fails the ninth or tenth rehab, and I scream that I am tired of living with a psychotic, schizophrenic, violent junkie, forcing me to lock myself into my room - and next day the junkie would be back.

The junkie wants, the junkie gets.

My mother ignored me, didn't care about me at all, and even ordered me to accompany the junkie to doctor visits or whatever to ensure it would get there - when I was twelve years old. Even two decades later she sees nothing wrong with this. Leaving a twelve year old with (AND IN CHARGE OF!!!!!!) a psychotic, schizophrenic, violent junkie.

She probably expected me to take care of the junkie later on, she even told me recently she always dreamt of us "reconciling". Fuck that noise.

I now know and better understand what she did. And I told her our relation is on its last fragile leg. It might even help her understand herself. I quite doubt it, but alas, it is nice to have a name for it.
