I HAVE A THEORY!!!!
Let me preface all of this with this disclaimer:
I am a spiritual alterhuman. I belive I have the soul of a fae, fox, and crow, and they are all one being and that is who I am, all trapped in a human body. I am in no way writing this for purposes of discrediting any experiences including mine or other people's. I am not writing this to invalidate physical, psychological, spiritual, or any other kind of alterhuman, and belive we all have our own experiences. Please, do not attack me, I do not mean this in any way as accepted fact or as an absolute truth, this is a theory I came up with and am going to continue to research, and I don't want anyone to think I am trying to invalidate other experiences. This is based off my experiences, experiences of others I've talked to, and research I've done into human vestigial structures.
I think that the reason that tail shifts are the most common in the community is that the human body we are in has what's called vestigial structures, meaning parts of the body that ancestors needed for survival but we don't use anymore like the appendix, and one of those structures if the tail bone. It's where our primate ancestors would have, obviously, has a tail. Additionally, the phenomenon of "phantom limbs" is a common occurrence in people who have had limbs amputated or just don't have certain limbs. Together, I think it would make sense that, if someone was meant to be or was an animal, their human body would manifest this in the form of feeling what they belive they should have physically in phantom limbs. This could also be part of the reason that canine therians seem to be very common, as even if someone has multiple theriotypes, the tail would be most likely to manifest in phantom limb form, and so it would make discovering a canine theriotype the most common or easy to discover. Another vestigial structure in humans is the outer ear and scalp being able to be wiggled and moved, which is what makes ears that rest on top of a creatures head another very common phantom shift or phantom limb experience. Additionally, with hyperflexibility like I have, there is the ability to shift ones shoulderblades around like you have wings. I would be interested to see what the overlap is between people who have hypermobility in their shoulders or back and people who are winged alterhumans, because the hypermobility in those cases could be caused by some sort of adaptation from the animal form dort of being forced into human shape and stretching the mold a little bit so to speak? I kinda wanna do some more research on this now ngl
(Please reblog for reach, I would be interested in anyone else's thoughts on this!)

the funny thing about a lot of online alterhumans (especially on tiktok) being pretty young is it creates this idea, at least that i've seen, that not being human is just a thing teenagers do and they'll age out of
(and absolutely no worries if you do, that doesn't make it any less real at the time)
but like. i'm walking around my college campus swinging my tail n shit. bark bark bitch. gay little canid getting their degree. they let dogs do anything these days.
it's like some cold war type shit. alterhumans are in your community and you don't know who they are. we make it to adulthood and get jobs and pay taxes and get into relationships just like everyone else

Tw: mention of drone cannibalism, drone guts (components), drone core, drone gore and similar topics.
Long story short, this spawned in my brain thanks to a convo with a friend and I wanna share it!
So, we all probably know about how in Murder Drones episodes, it's shown at least one time (as far as I remember) a drone core being eaten, consumed even. But, how does a core taste like? And what's it's texture?
(The texture convo has already happened in the Kincord server, but I wanna expand upon it).
Tumblr media
First, the core of a drone seems to be pretty fleshy, resembling biological stuff like meat, but since it's a component of an artificial being like a robot, it can't be fully biological (at least in my mind). I consider this 'fleshy' look the exterior, like the components of the core are covered in this meaty shield.
This meaty exterior, would probably have similar texture to actual meat, octopus or calamari would be my best bet, but I can honestly see it being also similar to minced meat or meatballs.
Second of all, the actual core would be mechanical as the rest of the drone body, with those sharp limbs that resemble crab legs probably being similar to DD's blade fingers. This means that it'd have similar texture to the rest of the drone, crunchy it's my best bet, but I honestly tend to compare it to cartilage or soft bone.
Tumblr media
Now! The taste :D
The fleshy exterior is easy, it probably tastes salty as some unseasoned meats, also meaty, and probably a bit metallic too because of it's closeness to actual metal and probably because of blood? (Question mark?) And some hints of oil for obvious reasons. For me, drone oil would be kinda bitter, maybe comparable to dark chocolate milk! Which I tend to associate it to.
The interior is a bit more difficult to pinpoint, apart from the expected metallic taste of it I'd actually expect it to have less flavor than the exterior metal parts from a drone. You'd ask why, and I answer it!
Tumblr media
In real life, meat from animals tend to have a hint or flavor resembling their environment, the perfect example would be sea food tasting a lot like sea and the meat parts of the taste being overshadowed by it (have in mind this is an opinion from a sea food hater, thanks!). So, the exterior of the drone would have more taste akin to being more exposed to the elements of the environment, while the interior is soaked in metal and oil.
TL;DR
Drone cores would have a meaty exterior, and a crunchy inside. The taste of the exterior would be very meaty and with hints of saltiness, bitterness and metallicness. In comparison, the interior would lack flavor and have less saltiness, but maintain the metallic and bitter taste.
Thanks for reading my random ramblings I do to distract myself from the urge of bitting a screen 🤝

The thing about monsters that is very appealing to me is everything they do or are is usually valid. Aggressive mindless bloodthirsty creature? Of course! Gentle beast? Yep. Evil masterminds? Not surprising. Morally grey complicated characters? Makes sense. Misunderstood sensitive soul? Of course. Roguish sexual icon? Well yeah. Romantic love interest? Absolutely. Their level of attractiveness doesn’t matter really, they can be conventionally attractive or downright hideous. From barely different than a human to entirely nonhuman. They can be in a hot and steamy romance novel or a wholesome coming of age children’s story. An established species or completely unique creation. Hide in plain sight in a society or be completely divorced from it and solitary. Redeemed or unrepentant. Antagonist or protagonist. They can be whatever.

I think the idea that you were born a therian is a limiting theory. I know you cannot choose to be a therian. From psychological theories, you may have developed your therianthropy through childhood based on animals that are/were in your area, animals you liked growing up, or even your own pets and that was after your birth & due to environmental factors.

my belief on why i am therian/nonhuman
(REMEMBER JUST MY OWN TJEORY)
I beleive in past lives 100% and i definately think ive had a past life strongly connected to this, personally i believe that all your lives are what affect your soul as a living being, i think ive had more nonhuman past lives than any human which has made my soul feel wrong living a human life right now? im not sure if this is making sense but its making sense to me.. the past life/lives that i think have affect my current rn are where ive lived in a canine body, rn i am qurstioning if i have multiple theriotypes or just the one Side Striped Jackal, but it definetly doesnt feel like its the only animalistic part of me. I think that you can also be influenced by the animals around you!! theres the chances i have had a feline past life but i dont feel as connected to, i think i have a stronger connection to canines because i grew up around them and learning more abt them constantly! which had made it easier for me to understand my therianthropy. obviously this is all just a theory and i guess theres no 100% definition of how someone is a therian but this is what i think! I love hearing other nonhumans theorys and beleifs i always appreciate the communication in online therian communities!! ofc there could be holes and everything in my theory this to me is just my belief and you will probably think smth different!! (could be an important mention) ive never been in a stable mental state even from a young age and even now i still dont fully understand everything going on with me mentally but this could also be an influence on how i am nonhuman, i dont feel certain on this but i do think its possible for my mentally state and how ive felt to lead me away from feeling like i fit with humans driving me to make a stronger connection with canines which like i said feeling a connection to those of them around me helped me understand that i am infact nonhuman at a young age (i assumed everyone felt this way until i realised it was a nonhuman thing) ANYWAYS THIS PROBABLY MAKES 0 SENSE AND IVE JUST BEEN TYPING FOR AGES!!! LMK WHAT U THINK AND UR THEORYS AND BELIEFS!!! :>

For some research I'm doing on alterhumanity:
(Please reblog for reach!!!)
Im doing research on the overlap between where we are more likely to have phantom shifts and how the bodies we are stuck with impact/are impacted by our theriotypes if that makes sense, I have another post about it with more background if you look up "#a theory on alterhumanity" on my blog!!

I find it so weird that I'm a husky therian who absolutely hates the cold and loves the heat. Like, whenever I get even the slightest bit cold, my body starts to shut down and I go to sleep. And I'm the type of person who loves 90-100°F weather just because I love the feeling of the sun on my face and my skin (though over 100 is pushing it). But I like to think about it like I'm missing my fur, so of course the cold feels unbearable. I'm missing a whole blanket that should be on my skin!

Bigender and polygender friends, consider this question to be asking if one of your genders has a relationship with your 'type!
Polykin, consider all of your 'types when answering!
I've been curious about this!! I know for me my gender identity impacts my inhumanity, so I was wondering what the relationship between gender and alterhumanity might look like across the community :3 if you feel like sharing your answer in depth for any of the options please feel free to reblog :}

Otherkin headcanon post because mine never get accepted into those headcanon accounts
// Starting with the most conventional ones
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luz, from the owl house
A LOT of people say this, but i fully believe it. She's canonically very versed in internet culture. I believe it would stem mostly from hyperfixations (i believe it does for alot of headcanons since im projecting alot)
She'd have several kintypes. Possibly snakekin, catkin, otterkin. Maybe a few fantasy ones, possibly griffinkin, MAYBE dragonkin. An azura fictkin would also make sense. She'd do quads, cosplays, make masks, moodboards, kinedits, the works.
Again, another very very obvious one
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hunter, from the owl house. This one again is so popular. But hes very important to me (I kinsidered him before i even knew what it was) but obviously i hc him as wolfkin, maybe even werewolfkin. For similar reasons to Luz, but also heavily for coping reasons. He'd be much more spiritual and closed in about it, i cant see him doing quads but i can see him making a mask or two. He'd mix up wolves and coyotes alot tho aswell
Getting the last obvious one out of the way
Tumblr media
All of them. At least most of the vampkids from Southpark as vampirekin. But i also believe they'd all have different related animal kintypes. like bats most commonly, then wolves. And other animals like crows and rats and spiders. All for different reasons
This one is a bit more of a stretch
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anne, from anne with an e. If she had lived in the modern day she'd ADORE therian tumblr. She'd have a few kintypes, possibly some animal types like foxes or doves. Maybe a few fantastical/religious types, i can definitely see her as fallen angelkin, possibly fairykin. And ockin aswell. Partially a coping mechanism, mostly spiritual. Shed write poetry about it definitely. And she'd write so much about her past lives.
This one is just a bit more of a stretch, and has been taken as a troll submission before
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sheldon, from the big bang theory. He is canonically very versed in fandom culture, and he wouldn't know of kin culture in the way people on tumblr do, but alot of internet kin culture arose from the lord of the rings fandom in the 90s, he'd definitely be aware of it. For kintypes, i can see him very vividly as vulcankin (star trek) or even possibly a spock fictkin. Maybe robotkin as even more of a stretch. It's nearly canon in some kind of way. It would stem as a coping mechanism heavily, but also from special interests and a deep personal connection from dehumanized his whole life, very often compared to spock and robots and aliens, and using them as a way to express his own emotions (i have a lot of thoughts about tbbt i apologize.)
Lastly (and the biggest stretch)
Tumblr media
Herman, from the vampire bat. This is the biggest stretch, mostly because the movie takes place in the 1930s at the latest.
Again, a poorly done, demonized portrayal of an autistic man with a special interest in bats. Extremely protective of them, extremely connected to them. In short i headcanon him as batkin. Vampirebat specifically. Which is entirely a projection but its okay
Thanks for reading goodbye
