Oh, I actually have a slightly hilarious story about exactly this topic!

I'm an alien that well, we look like lizards. We are not lizards, we are not reptilian, we just have a lizard like shape. That's all. No scales, just smooth skin. We look like kangaroo shaped geckos if that makes any sense.

"Reptilians" existing as evil alien bad guys is a antisemitic conspiracy theory that's been kicking around the new age community forever. Some people in these communities think reptilians are farming humans for negative energy. Remember this.

Anyway,

When I first met my now partner, their friend group contained a person who... Well I'll say she believed too much in the law of attraction to the point of being into spiritual conspiracies and she had some unaddressed mental health problems too.

In the group chat she basically out right said my partners grandma having cancer was a result of "her not being in touch with her purpose" or some woowoo BS. Partner flips out (naturally) and then she proceeded to tell him that this is basically quantum physics and they learned it in college.

Meanwhile, I ACTUALLY studied spirituality as it relates to neuroscience for a college paper and I've been abused by a law of attraction "your problems are your own moral fault" parent. So I wasn't having this either and called this bitch the fuck out with actual credentials.

She ended up throwing a huge tantrum about "negative energy" and left their group chat and friend group never to return again.

The next day though, she makes a status asking her spiritual friends how to "deal with reptilian psychopaths" because one has infiltrated her friend group and brainwashed them.

Obviously was talking about me. I was introduced as otherkin/alterhuman to her outright. She found out I was an alien with a lizard shape and asked if I was reptilian and I told her "I'm not reptilian I'm just lizard like, we have nothing to do with reptilians"

And fyi we do have a specific species name but I really don't share it outright on Tumblr yet to prevent strangers from kinning it. I just call myself a "lizard alien" most of the time and this showed me that maaaaybe I shouldn't do that. It's really stupid that I have to worry about the implications of calling myself a lizard alien because some guy made up a stupid conspiracy theory.

Anyway I guess she didn't believe what I said about not being reptilian and thought I was lying. Everyone in the group blocked her after that status because they knew she was talking about me because I called her out. It was slightly weird/disconcerting because it felt almost like being called a slur or something. Like girly pop, are really out here inventing space racism/species-ism? Do we really gotta do that? Lmao

Alter humans fellas, have you ever had negative comments about your therio/kintype? For example, about cruel behaviors that the animal or creature can have, preconceived ideas about it..

Because personally, having a xenomorph kin, I have already been criticized for being a "killing machine". Like.. I know that xenomorphs are not shown and known to be super affectionate creatures but when people tell me things like that it's just harsh.. I have my own particular vision of my kin and I know that almost no one has the same vision, which means that I rarely express myself on this kin.

I dunno when my alterhumanity went from being all mystical and magical, to casual and indifferent but its so funny to me.

Im probably phrasing this poorly but lemme give an example.

On the bus today, omw home from school. I randomly felt my ear-wings and back wings show up, which is an experience in the past I would’ve been overly excited about. But now, I found my first thought being “damn. how am I gotta fit my bag on now without with these in the way”.

Not exactly an exciting story, but I just find it funny that phantom shifts and critter behavior are just my norm now.

Not anything mystical. Just normal.

How it works

You send me an ask. Short and simple example:

“I’m a ___.”

I will post your ask (I'll use the queue to space the posts out a bit) and put it down on the zine as:

“I’m a ___.” -Anonymous

If you don’t want to be cited as anonymous, you need to tell me. Like this, for example:

“I’m a ___. -Blue”

You can ad as much information as you want. An example:

“I’m a ___. -Blue, they/them, 21”

That would look like this in the zine:

“I’m a ___.” -Blue, they/them, 21

I hope I explained it in an easy to understand way!

I will cite the asks exactly how I receive them, including things that I think are typos. I don’t want to accidentally change something that was done on purpose. If you want to correct a mistake you’ve made, just comment under the respective post. I can’t allow this for anons because I need a way to know the request comes from the being that made the original ask.

Therians who mock Therians (young or old) for wearing gear are stupid. I saw a post of an adult Therian mocking two CHILDREN (aprox 11-12) for wearing tails and masks.

The Therian community is already hated enough, for someone to think they are better than another Therian for expressing their Therianthropy differently is moronic.

They also remarked them being “tiktok” therians and “fake” for it. Seriously what the fuck. People like this bristle my fur so much, just no. No.

This goes out to all the Newly awakens. If you wear gear, you are no less or more than a Therian who doesn’t. That goes for the opposite as well. Express your identity however you wish, stay safe out there <3

controversial opinion; (btw, this has been edited to make the point i was making come across clearer since some people have misunderstood, which is my fault. edited paragraphs/sentences are in purple) tldr; when faced with curiousity about alterhumanity, alterhumans dont need to start portraying their non-humanity as nothing but torture and can embrace the good parts when responding to questions

i see so many therians replying to normies who say "the bond in the therian community is so strong! i'd love to be in it!" or "what's being a therian like?" and "non-humans are so cool!" and the reply is like ,,trust me you do not want to be a therian it is painful, disgusting i live in pain every day of my life, the world has stabbed me three times for the fun of it...'' yes, being a therian can suck at times, it can be painful, distressing, and dehumanizing (in the bad way) not everything about being non-human hurts. you can bond over things that would normally lose you friends. you can find a home away from home. if you want people to know that theriantrophy isn't all lisa frank-style glitter and rainbows, that's fine! if you want them to know about how painful being stuck in a body you do not belong in is, that's fine! im not trying to say that people shouldn't be able to express how they feel about being an alterhuman- im trying to say that alterhumanity has two sides! and if your experience with it has been negative; it's been negative. if it's been good? don't let the bad parts get to the good parts. thanks for reading! a reblog, like, or comment would be appreciated!
