#i think sv lex also has this probel of putting ppl on pedestals#he definitely does this with the kents#and while he's the only one to NOT pedestalize lana in the first three seasons or so#he does this in season 5 and further on to some extent#lexmas!lana is so perfect she even dies prettily#it's one the things i dislike about lexana#their dynamic was perfect when they sort of called each other out on their bullshit#and lex pushed lana out of her comfort zone#it's like the writers couldn't imagine someone being in love with lana without idealizing her#or treating her like a coveted prize (@raelis1)
the parallels in smallville between clark's relationships with lana and with lex are SO interesting to me, bc there's something about the fact that (other than his parents) they're probably the two people he cares the most about, but they're also the two people he's the most terrified of learning his secret, to the point of repeatedly lying to both of them when they're clearly very close to figuring it out (or in lex's case, basically have figured it out).
i think ultimately clark is terrified of the potential rejection from the two of them -- lana because he doesn't know how she'd handle him being an alien, lex because he's worried about how lex will react to learning how much he's lied to him -- and he desperately doesn't want to lose them, but ultimately his unwillingness to share that part of himself with them is ultimately what caused his relationships with both of them to fall apart.

How Marilyn Monroe changed Ella Fitzgerald’s life
Tumblr media
If asked “Who played an important role in the musical career of Ella Fitzgerald?” you might respond with names like Chick Webb, Louis Armstrong, Norman Granz, and Dizzy Gillespie.
The name Marilyn Monroe (who passed away 50 years ago this August), however, might not come to mind.
While touring in the ’50s under the management of Norman Granz, Ella, like many African-American musicians at the time, faced significant adversity because of her race, especially in the Jim Crow states. Granz was a huge proponent of civil rights, and insisted that all of his musicians be treated equally at hotels and venues, regardless of race.
Despite his efforts, there were many roadblocks and hurdles put in to place, especially for some of the more popular African-American artists. Here is one story of Ella’s struggles (as written in chicagojazz.com):
Once, while in Dallas touring for the Philharmonic, a police squad irritated by Norman’s principles barged backstage to hassle the performers. They came into Ella’s dressing room, where band members Dizzy Gillespie and Illinois Jacquet were shooting dice, and arrested everyone. “They took us down,” Ella later recalled, “and then when we got there, they had the nerve to ask for an autograph.”
Across the country, black musicians, regardless of popularity, were often limited to small nightclubs, having to enter through the back of the house. Similar treatment was common at restaurants and hotels.
Enter Marilyn Monroe
During the ’50s, one of the most popular venues was Mocambo in Hollywood. Frank Sinatra made his Los Angeles debut at Mocambo in 1943, and it was frequented by the likes of Clark Gable, Charlie Chaplin, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall and Lana Turner.
Ella Fitzgerald was not allowed to play at Mocambo because of her race. Then, one of Ella’s biggest fans made a telephone call that quite possibly changed the path of her career for good. Here, Ella tells the story of how Marilyn Monroe changed her life:
“I owe Marilyn Monroe a real debt … she personally called the owner of the Mocambo, and told him she wanted me booked immediately, and if he would do it, she would take a front table every night. She told him – and it was true, due to Marilyn’s superstar status – that the press would go wild. The owner said yes, and Marilyn was there, front table, every night. The press went overboard. After that, I never had to play a small jazz club again. She was an unusual woman – a little ahead of her times. And she didn’t know it.”
Learning from Ella
Ella had an influence on Marilyn as well. Monroe’s singing had a tendency to be overshadowed by dress-lifting gusts of wind and the flirtatious “Happy Birthday, Mr. President,” not to mentions her movies and marriage to Joe DiMaggio. But years prior to the Mocambo phone call, Monroe was studying the recordings of Ella.
In fact, it was rumored that a vocal coach of Monroe instructed her to purchase Fitzgerald’s recordings of Gershwin music, and listen to it 100 times in a row.
Continued study of Ella actually turned Marilyn into a relatively solid singer for about a decade, but again became overlooked as her famous birthday tribute song to JFK in 1962 ends up being the vocal performance that is widely remembered.

please read: CHAPTER 1
it was sunday afternoon and the james family were now officially moved in. furniture, clothing, and appliances were all accounted for and every necessary document for a citizen in smallville. lyric’s parents went next door to meet the kents to properly introduce themselves before venturing out to find the local market to freshly stock their kitchen with food and have their first meal together as a family in their new home. lyric stayed back, claiming she was tired from all of the lifting, moving, and organizing. she sat on her bed with her legs crossed and a sleeping noir on her lap as her thumbs pressed on the right arrow button of her digital photo album. she always saw it as a hobby, but her friends back home were always impressed with her photography skills. lyric adored to capture the realness and beauty of her city. she appreciated that it didn’t have to be a large garden or a gigantic skyscraper for it to be art. her album included graffiti painted murals, street musicians sharing their talents, or a child’s beaming smile as they indulged in an ice cream cone on a hot summer day. these photos brought her nostalgic bliss until she clicked upon a picture of her and omar. lyric felt such a twinge of pain that bit at her chest and a suffocating tightness in her throat that she inhaled and simply shut off the device. she picked up noir in one arm to get off her bed and place it on her desk next to her computer. if she didn’t do that, the thing would’ve thrown and smashed into the wall.
there was one thing that could make this feeling go away: a vinyl. lyric placed noir on the floor to roam around the room as she pleased before crossed over to her shelf that her record player atop of it. obviously being the year 2002, a lot of people her age wouldn’t care for them now, but this was a family heirloom that her grandpa, joseph “jojo” (as she affectionately called him) sr., passed down to lyric for her to enjoy music of the past and present. the brown skinned girl made the adjustments that the player was ready before she squats down to find a suitable album to listen to. hmm. beatles? nah. duke ellington? not today. whitney houston? maybe. lauryn hill? yes! lyric slid “the miseducation of lauryn hill” vinyl from the album cover to gingerly place it on the turntable. her fingertips grip the tonearm to maneuver the needle that gently descends onto the spinning vinyl, a soft crackle is heard in the room, indicating the start of one of lyric’s favorite songs. the sultry notes of " ex-factor” filled the room, lyric lost herself in the moment as she turned the dial to increase the volume. she grabs her hairbrush from her vanity to lip-sync as if she were on a world tour with her audience of noir who seemed to enjoy the impromptu performance of her owner swaying her hips to every rhythm. lyric felt the vibe hit differently as she sang along with the breakdown.
(care) care for me, care for me
I know you care for me
(there) there for me, there for me
said you'd be there for me
(cry) cry for me, cry for me
you said you'd die for me
(give) give to me, give to me
why won't you live for me?
care care for me, care for me
you said you'd care for me
(there) there for me, there for me
said you'd be there for me
(cry) cry for me, cry for me
you said you'd die for me
(give) give to me, give to me
why won't you live for me?
(care) care for me, care for me
you said you'd care for me—
“LYRIC RENEÉ JAMES!”
just as she hit a high note, crystal’s voice boomed as she burst through the door. lyric halted to turn around to see her mother’s facial expression change from a feigned stern look to one of amusement and laughter in her voice. lyric sheepishly giggled as she walked to the player to lift the needle off the vinyl to stop the music.
“hey, mama! what’s up? did the store have the frosted flakes?” she asked stumbling towards her mother. whenever lyric was caught like that, she attempted to take the attention off herself by changing the topic of conversation.
“girl, you and that record player! i’ve been calling your name for five minutes, but it looks like you were selling out stadiums on your world tour like you’re a child of destiny or something.” crystal quipped as she crossed her arms and leaned against the doorframe.
“ma, it’s destiny’s child and i’m sorry. i just wanted to kill some time until ya’ll got back. is there anything you need me to do?”
“don’t get smart, girl. yes, get dressed. we’re going to dinner!”
“oh, for real? ya’ll found a restaurant out here that fast?”
“it’s not a restaurant, child. we’re just going next door. that nice family of that sweet boy—uh, honey, what’s his name? he found noir for you yesterday.”
“clark—clark kent?”
“yeah yeah, him! his family invited us to have dinner tonight, so start getting ready before we leave you.” crystal demands before she saunters out of her daughter’s room.
“you couldn’t leave me if you tried, ma!” lyric jokingly called out with a chuckle.
“try me and find out!” crystal responds a sound of her bedroom door opening and closing following suit.
lyric giggles while shaking her head before she goes to her closet to assemble the attire of a cropped black top with long mesh sleeves, khaki colored jeans, a sleeveless army patterned vest with a zipper, and combat boots. within the next thirty minutes, she did her hygiene, got dressed, and briefly primped herself in the mirror until her she deemed her final look presentable for the evening ahead. once her signature hoops were on, she kissed noir on the head and warned the cat to be on her best behavior before going downstairs to find her parents at the front door waiting to make their journey to the kents. she noticed her mother holding what looked like a boxed dessert of some kind before they walked out the door. it was a mild autumn temperature with a light breeze. the sun was starting to set painting an array of vibrant colors in the sky and setting the stage for the moon and stars to take their role for the night.
the family reached the kent house and stepped onto the porch. joseph glanced at his watch that indicated that they were ten minutes early and used his index finger to ring the doorbell. jonathan and martha answered the door within a second, amicably greeting the family with pleasant grins, hugs, and handshakes before they were cordially welcomed in the home. lyric’s eyes perused the classic, american interior of the living room, wooden staircase, and the multitude of family photos. lyric found it all so endearing her trance was broken when she heard a male voice speak her name with a friendly tone, it was not as deep as her father’s nor mr. kent’s.
“hey, lyric!” the girl’s head turned and her earthy eyes ascended to meet his of sky blue and an award winning smile on his lips. lyric could definitely peep his simple, classic farmhouse style of a red plaid flannel with jeans and boots, but he looked well put together nonetheless and not to mention of his clean, fresh scent.
“hey! what’s up? how ya’ doing, clark?” lyric addressed him with a dimpled smile, standing with one leg in front of the other and placed her hands in her back pockets. she wasn’t really sure what to do with her hands at the moment, she’s already shaken his hand when they first met, but she didn’t want to be too forward to give him at least a side hug.
Tumblr media
“i’m good—well, great! i’m glad you guys could make it. you look really good, by the way. i like your outfit!” clark was trying not to stutter as his cheeks turned a bit red because he was telling the truth. it wasn’t a lie that he thought lyric was pretty, but to not come off as a creep and secure a potential friendship with his new neighbor, he complimented her fashion style that was also eye-catching. it was comfortable, simple, but it stood out from the rest with both neutral and vibrant colors.
“thanks, clark! i appreciate the invite and you don’t look bad yourself. you clean up real nice.” lyric honestly reciprocates the compliment. he’s too sweet. who needs to eat when your ego’s been fed?
all of the conversations were halted as the kents took the initiative to lead the james family to the kitchen. they gathered at the table and the husbands respectfully sat with their wives while clark pulled out a chair for lyric to sit next to him. with a soft voice and a smile of gratitude, she utters a thank you to the boy before taking her seat. the meal consisted of chicken fried steak and a spread of fresh farm to table cuisine that tasted like tlc was injected into every bite they took. as the families got to know each other, they conversed about the smallville community such as people they should (or shouldn’t) meet, places to go, and things to do. lyric was piqued at the mention of a meteor shower that previously happened in the fall of 1989, but saddened to learn that there was destruction, trauma, and long lasting effects, but the people of smallville had eventually learned to move on.
“oh my goodness, that’s awful!” crystal gasped with an appalled expression.
“it truly was—life altering, but not all was lost that day because we gained a son. that was the day when clark came into our lives and i wouldn’t change a thing.” martha responds with fondness as she places her palm on her chest and glances at her son earning smiles from everyone at the table.
“aww, that’s so sweet, mrs. kent!” lyric cooed as her chest swelled with warmth. she was a sucker for a happy ending.
“ah, mom. please don’t get too emotional! not in front of our new neighbors.” he jokingly pleads in slight embarrassment as his cheeks flush to scarlet causing the rest of the table to chuckle. mr. kent mentioned a man by the name of “luthor” lyric forgot his first name, but he’s a wealthy ceo of his own company. he’s originally from a city called metropolis, but moved into a mansion in smallville. the james family discovered that clark actually saved his life and they became friends ever since, hence his connections to the kents. lyric was amazed at the farm boy’s bravery, but she also detected in mr. kent’s tone that there was some mixed feelings about this dude. clark would chime in to come to this man’s defense. meteor showers, rich guys, clark being a hero. maybe this town does have some interesting stuff going on.
after dinner and with their parents’ permission, clark and lyric were excused to go to his loft in the barn to continue to know more about each other. it was already dark outside, but the many stars in the sky set the scenery. clark gave lyric a short “tour of his fortress of solitude”. lyric thought of clark to be lucky to have this huge, private space and she found it thoughtful that he at least felt comfortable with her enough to share it with her. he guided her to the telescope by the open loft window. she leaned forward and peeked her earth toned pupil through the eyepiece and he made sure to adjust the focus to capture all of the captivating spots that inhabited with galaxy. lyric felt the warmth of clark’s towering figure behind hers and she listens to his passionate, tenor voice as he educates her about the cosmos and eagerly answers any questions she has. it sounds like he wants to be up there. maybe he wants to be an astronaut after graduation.
a light bulb goes off in lyric’s brain before she moves back from the telescope and her two fingertips lightly tap his forearm to which clark’s eyes are immediately on hers.
“hey, clark?” she questions.
“yes, lyric?” he responds.
“i got an idea.”
“what might that be?”
“you wanna play 21 questions? i know it’s kinda lame, but it’s a good way to know each other if we’re next door neighbors and going to the same school, right? so are you in or are you out?”
“i’m in! do you wanna sit?” he offers gesturing to the sofa. lyric nods in agreement and they seat themselves on the cushions.
“bet! i’ll start with something basic. what’s your favorite color?”
“mostly blue and red. what part of new york were you from?”
“brooklyn. i’mma get this out the way—how tall are you?”
clark chuckles before answering.
“6’3. what’s something you love doing the most?”
“taking pictures with my camera! especially things that give me inspiration. i wish i had it take a picture of these stars…what’s your favorite food?”
“pizza. i can’t live without it if i wanted to!”
“get outta my head, that’s my favorite, too! there was this place back home called tony’s and let me tell you, they had the best new york style pizza on the block. they’d make the slices so big that you gotta fold it like a taco to get one bite and you’ll never finish it the day you get it.”
“sounds like my kind of place! i’m never one to back down from a challenge, so i’ll take your word for it, lyric. oh, right! the game— i wonder how’d you get to know noir?”
“that’s an interesting story. well, there was always this cat in my neighborhood just going on about its business, but some people were superstitious and thought she was bad luck because you know, she’s a black cat, so they would yell and curse at her like she was something evil. i was 12 years old and she was so cute to me, so i always fed her a little treat or just gave her a bowl of milk. one day it was raining, and i was in such a rush to get in the house that i didn’t see that i left the door cracked and she followed me in. i knew my parents wouldn’t feel too excited about any animals in our house, but she was cold, wet, and shivering, so i did what i had to do. i took care of her and it took two weeks of begging and my parents let me keep her because i was showing them that i was mature when i took care of her and the rest is history.”
“that was very kind of you, lyric. noir’s very lucky to have you as her owner, you’re basically her hero when everyone made her feel like an outcast.” clark’s lips formed a small smile and commended her as he peered at her side profile. lyric just sheepishly smiled as her dimpled cheeks radiated with heat.
Tumblr media
“i think it’s the other way around! you would’ve done the same. the last i checked i didn’t save a rich dude from drowning, so you’re more of a hero than me.” lyric and clark chortled before she resumed the game with a question,
“what do you wanna do when you graduate, clark?” lyric quizzically awaited his answer, her eyes boring into his as her elbows rest on her lap with her chin resting in her palms. clark sits in thought for a few seconds to honestly get the answer from his brain through his mouth.
“i think i want to go into journalism. there’s something fascinating about getting a fresh scoop on something and you jump down the rabbit hole to get all of the facts from all of these different sources. the only downside is the possibility of invading someone’s privacy, breaking someone’s trust, and proofreading an article.” he states before they both chuckle at his joke.
“oh, really? for a minute, i thought you wanted to work for nasa with the way you were talking about the stars. it was like you were giving me a tour of your hometown, but it was the galaxy. journalism is cool though. clark, you could be on tv if you wanted to! it sounds to me you got it down to tee. you’ll do numbers, trust.” lyric shift her leg over the other and placed her elbow on the back edge of sofa, leaning her head in her palm.
“i’ve never got a chance to ask you this, but i really like your name. it’s unique. what gave your folks the inspiration?” he questioned and wittingly pretended to hold an invisible microphone with a playful smirk curving on his lips and a piqued glint in his eyes as he pointed his hand towards her lips, awaiting her answer. clark’s smile grew wider as lyric giggled and clasped her hands together.
“aha! i hear the journalist popping out now. we’re really doing an interview, huh? okay, well, my mama loves music. she used to play piano and write poetry as a hobby, but back then, her parents wanted her to do something more…practical and she went on to be a nurse. of course she loves what she does, but she told me that when i cried for the first time after i was first born, i was like the lyrics to her song of her life, so yeah, that’s why they named me lyric.” both teens simpered at the thought of their mother’s affection towards them.
“i can tell that you and your mom are close like my mom and i.”
“you’re not wrong, your mom speaks fondly on a day of tragedy and chaos because of you! there’s no doubt that she loves you a lot, clark. it must’ve been hectic giving birth during a meteor shower.”
there was a beat of silence.
“well— i’m actually adopted. my parents adopted me when i was around three years old and they raised me ever since. i’m not ashamed of it of course because they only want what’s best for me.” clark uttered as he cleared the air of awkwardness when he noticed lyric raise her brows in awe.
“oh-ooh, i’m so sorry, clark! i shouldn’t have assumed, it’s just—ya’ll are so tight, so i couldn’t tell. never be ashamed because blood doesn’t always mean family. as long as you got people in your circle who truly care for you at your best and at your worst, that’s family.” her hand slowly reaches toward him to place her palm on his shoulder, giving it a reassuring touch which clark receives with a small smile.
“thank you, lyric.”
Tumblr media
“don’t mention it, clark.”
clark places his hand on top of hers for a brief moment and they both pulled away before things got too awkward between them than it should. for the next several minutes they continued with their inquiries about their lives, interests, favorites, and pet peeves. the parents were about to go their separate ways and made their way out to the porch to fetch the kids, but what they heard was laughter and a good conversation echoing from the open window in the barn. they all found it endearing, but joseph and crystal had to be up and at em’ the next day for their first days at work and lyric, her first day of school. jonathan and martha insisted to the james’ that lyric can hang for a few more minutes because they enjoy lyric’s company for their son and the kids would eventually tire out from their activity. knowing their son, he would bring their daughter home safely in one piece. crystal and joseph pondered on it and decided it would be okay, but they all agreed that if lyric wasn’t home by nine, one of them would pick her up. they bid each other a friendly goodnight and the james couple walked down the path and retired to their home.
lyric and clark stood outside the barn. it was pitch out, but the sky was still scattered with the soft shining light of the stars. her laughter mingling with the cool evening breeze. clark stood at her side with his hands stuffed in his pockets and an easy smile on his face, both of them reluctant to let the night come to an end.
“i swear, my parents be playing with me like that! of course they’d leave me if i don’t haul ass in time.” she chuckled, kicking a pebble to the side and glances over her shoulder to the familiar path that led to her house. clark laughed, a warm sound that filled the space between them.
“i wouldn’t be surprised. they’re the type of people that when theyre ready to go, they’re ready to go, even if you’re not. ,” he teased, his azure eyes sparkling. the connection between the teens felt easy like a sunday morning, it was a kind of chemistry that made them forget their mundane worries all together, but as the stars twinkled with every second passing by, reality crept back in.
“ugh, i gotta go home. god forbid i oversleep on my first day tomorrow.,” with a sad smile, lyric sighed glanced at the path again.
clark straightened his posture, his smile dimming just a touch. “i’ll walk you home, lyric.” he offered without missing a beat.
“thanks, clark!” she replied and they started their journey.
as they strolled side by side, the air was thick with a comfortable silence momentarily, but they resumed the stories of themselves and their friends. with each giggle and chuckle, it what seemed like a brisk two minute walk, felt more like a five mile stroll to her house. when they reached her front door, it felt too soon.
“goodnight, lyric. it was great seeing you again.” clark said, the volume of his voice diminished as he took a small step back. he didn’t want to make a bad impression by waking her parents.
“goodnight, clark! i can’t thank you enough. i’ll meet you at that bus stop where you showed me in the morning.” she utters, her heart fluttering a bit and a tickle in her throat. as her knuckles were about to knock on the door, clark called her name, his tone almost hesitant.
here it goes, it’s now or never.
“hey—um, how about we meet early tomorrow to watch the sunrise? it’s really beautiful out there and maybe it would spark inspiration for you to take pictures on your camera. that’s if you’re okay with it of course! ,” he suggested, a hint of nervousness in his voice.
he could see lyric’s toffee toned face light up at the idea. “yeah, i’m down for that. i don’t usually like waking up early, but you’re good in my book, so why not?” she responded, her smile beaming and she turned briefly to knock on the door to signal for parents to answer. joseph came to the door and graciously thanked clark for getting his daughter home in time.
as lyric stepped inside, she glanced at clark one last time to give him a wave and after he reciprocated, she disappeared behind the door. she didn’t realize the dopey smile that was stuck on her face as she walked in, but joseph did. with an amused grin, the older male crossed his arms and quipped,
“what you smilin’ about, lil’ girl?”
lyric stopped and cleared her throat, embarrassed that she was in such a trance that she didn’t realize her facial expression.
“uh—n-nothing just had a good time, daddy.” she stammered and twiddled her fingers.
“mhm, sure didn’t seem like nothing. get some rest, baby girl. it’s your first day tomorrow.” joseph chuckles and bids his daughter goodnight with a kiss to her forehead and ascended up the stairs to join his wife in bed. lyric playfully groaned, rolled her eyes at her father’s antics, and followed suit to change out of her clothes to her nightly attire and silk head wrap. she gathers her already sleeping onyx kitty in her arms, but doesn’t forget to adjust her alarm clock to a decent, but early enough time to get ready and meet clark before school. her eyelids close to begin her slumber.
as clark walked home, he was excited for his meeting with lyric and for her to meet his friends at school, but he felt a twinge of guilt. he felt he was betraying his loyalty to lana because watching the sunrises would be their “thing”. sure, he loved her, but it wasn’t like she’s his girlfriend. lyric was just a (almost) friend, all he wanted was to make her feel welcome, and that thought warmed his heart. clark really hoped that she would come through in the morning. he didn’t see any harm at showing someone the beauty and wonders of his hometown especially if they came from a whole different setting. once he got home, clark helped his parents tidy up the kitchen, bid them goodnight, and rested his body for the following day.

playing: we can't be friends by ariana grande
"Caitlin everyone wants to know if there is a special someone in your life?" Alana was currently sitting on her couch staring at her girlfriend who was being interviewed. "As of right now..no i do not" Caitlin answered slowly cringing at her words. Alana understood that Caitlin wasn't ready to come out to the world yet especially since she was in the public eye.
It didn't matter though, she still could have said yes and not say the person's gender. Lana tried every excuse to give Caitlin, but nothing stuck. The two have been together for three years now. She's tired of being a secret. Was she not enough?
Lana stood turning off the television feeling sick to her stomach. Walking towards the shared bedroom of the two girls, Alana had one choice. She had to put herself first. No matter how much she loved Caitlin, she couldn't let this keep getting pushed under the rug.
wifey: i didn't mean it alana please don't be mad. i'm trying.
Alana looked down at the text from the person who was supposed to love her out loud, not just for their surrounding four walls. Caitlin meant everything to Lana, but it wasn't reciprocated.
wifey: baby
wifey: i love you lana
wifey: please answer
wifey: i'll be home in 10
She knew if she wasn't gone before Caitlin came home she would be wrapped into Caitlin telling her it was okay and that they were okay. Lana threw her bathroom necessities and a change of clothes into a bag. She walked out the front door seeing Caitlin speed into the driveway and hopping out of the car.
"Alana wait please.. don't do this" Caitlin ran over to her trying to stop her from walking to her car. "Caitlin please move" Alana looked down making sure the other girl couldn't see her tears. "Baby..please. It was stupid. I love you and I mean it"
"You don't mean it though Cait. You don't show it. You said you wanted to marry me.." Alana wiped her face pushing past Caitlin. "I do want to marry you, but i'm scared Lana"
"I'm giving you a reason to not be scared anymore Cait"

Jonathan: There's nothing wrong with my hearing. Tim: Um, I have a hearing test app on my phone. Martha: Let's do it! Tim: Okay. Everybody under the age of 60 should be able to hear this. [High-pitched beep] Everyone: Yeah, definitely. Jonathan: What? You're lying. You didn't hear anything. Martha: We did. See? You're deaf. Tim: Okay, 70. [Higher-pitched beep] Everyone: Yep. Heard it. Jonathan: Come on! Did she put you up to this? Tim: Here, Grandpa, I'll play you something even louder. [Nothing] Jonathan: Okay. I heard that one. Tim: I didn't press anything. Jason: Oh, look who's a cheater. Jonathan: You know, I don't need any of this. Lois: Oh, come on, Jonathan. Aren't you being a little oversensitive? Clark: Oh, well, we can consult dear Lana over there. She's the self-appointed sensitivity expert. Bruce [sighs] Lana: Oh, let it go. Clark: I will not let it go. In fact, I would like everyone to be honest with me, please, right now. No sugarcoating. Lana here seems to think you all have to walk on eggshells around me. Do you all think I'm so fragile you can't tell me things for fear of how I will react? Lois: Well-- Bruce: Lois, don't. Zip. Bup, bup, bup. Clark: No. Let her talk, please. Lois, you have the floor. Lois: W-Well, you aren't not fragile. Clark: …Okay. Well, why don't you give me an example of something you haven't told me because you were worried I couldn't handle it? Go on. Lois: …All right. Last week when we were supposed to have lunch and you canceled-- Mm-hmm. Beyoncé was at the restaurant. Bruce and Lana: Ah, damn. Clark: …Okay. Uh, the singer or Jim's dog? Lois: The singer. And when I was leaving, I-I stopped and I said hello to her and we chatted for, like, 10 minutes. Clark [Nods]: Okay, that's great. I'm glad you had that experience. I mean, I don't know what you talked to her about, seeing that you don't know any of her songs other than "Single Ladies," which everyone knows. Jonathan: Love that song. Martha: I'm surprised you can hear it. Bruce: Well, this was fun. Who's hungry? Hey, where's that boar? Clark: Okay, anyone else? Damian: Well, since we're coming clean… Bruce: Damian. Damian: …you overuse the word "divine." It's just an ice cream sandwich, Kent. You're the boy who cried "divine." Clark: Okay. Was not aware of that. Duly noted. Jason: Hey, I got one! Remember that blue rotary phone you gave me for Christmas? Clark: Yes. Jason: I tossed it. Clark: Okay. May… May I ask the reason? Jason: It made me feel like Ann-Margret in Bye Bye Birdie. Clark: Okay, anyone else? Dick: I don't really like the shirts with the crazy cuffs. Clark: I'm sorry. I'll take note of the fashion expert who went out to fight crime dressed as Disco Stu. Bruce and Lana: And here we go! Clark: No, no. Here we don't go. This is fine. I'm fine, okay? Everyone: … Conner: When I was little, I used to pretend to be asleep, so you'd go. Clark [Stiffles a sob in a high-pitched tone] Jonathan: That I heard. Clark: Well, I heard you all loud and clear. I have to use the restroom. Bruce: Clark, you're sensitive. Big deal. It's one of your best qualities. Clark: Thank you, Bruce, and I'm sorry your Beyoncé-loving new friend ignored you blatantly and blackmailed Falcone behind your back. Bruce: You what? Lois: … Oh, come on, I was there like… thirty minutes top! [Clark breaks the doorknob. He looks over his shoulder, seeing all attention on him again] Clark [Hesitant, to Lana]: See? Farm strong.

Care to share your thoughts on your take on Lana Lang?
YES! I'D LOVE TO!
Tumblr media
Clark and Lana were awkward childhood sweet hearts. By the time they reached their teens they were both feeling out of place in their bodies. Clark was at odds with his maturing Kryptonian self and Lana just wasn't feeling right about how she presented herself. They dated in high school and Clark eventually opened up to her about his powers (leaving out the ones he subconsciously suppressed). At some point they realize that they're not in the right place in their lives to love each other yet and they break up before Clark moves to Metropolis.
Tumblr media
Skip ahead and Superman's come out as an alien to Metropolis. Things go great for Clark for a while- but having to deal with Lois not returning his feelings as she's falling for Superman starts making him feel lonely and lost. Suddenly a familiar face returns to his life! Lana Lang is now a sought after technical set designer, and she's looking to bring her talents to newer ventures like Jimmy Olsen's web show. Turns out that time apart did let the two grow up after all, Clark has come to terms with his alien self and Lana's a full on butch.
Lana helps cover for Clark as he leaves work and friend hangouts to be Superman since she knows his secret. Clark's feelings for her start to stir again as she's someone he can be his full self to (at least, he thinks so). Is this yet another love triangle? What's Clark gotten himself into?!?

Could you do Bizarro Clark from Smallville?
Y/N texted Clark to come help him when in a blur of motion, Bizarro Clark stood there with eyes narrowed. "Guess my secret's out." Y/N ran downstairs and towards the door of Oliver Queen's penthouse, but Bizarro blocked his path. "Y/N, please."
"Stay away from me." Y/N said.
"I would never hurt you. Y/N. Look at me. I'm the same person you've been with all this time." Bizarro Clark pleads.
"You're a monster." Y/N said.
"You told me that you're happier than you've ever been. I made you feel that way, Y/N, not Clark."
"Because you pretended to be him just so that you could..."
"No. Listen, when I first came to Smallville, the only thing that mattered was my own survival, but that all changed when I met you." Bizarro Clark.
"You're lying!"
"Okay, yes, I lied about who I really was, but I never lied about my feelings for you. I love you. Clark doesn't."
There was a whoosh of air, and the real Clark Kent stood behind them. "Get away from him!" He charged with the blue Kryptonite in his hands, but Bizarro Clark side swiped him into a nearby wall as glass shattered around the Kryptonian.
"Clark!" Y/N ran to help him but as Bizarro stared at his counterpart. "You spent the last month telling me that you finally felt like we were meant to be together."
"Don't listen to him, Y/N." Clark said.
"I know what's in his mind, Y/N. His heart. He doesn't love you like I do."
"That's a lie!"
"You're the liar, Clark ... to yourself! To Y/N. To everyone around you. You're so worried about doing the right thing, you don't even see it. You don't love him. You love Lana or Lois. I know because I felt it. You secretly harbor your feelings for them. You've always just settled for Y/N, hoping his love would be enough for you, but it was always going to be either Lana or Lois... Wasn't it?" Bizarro said.
Y/N turned to Clark, who looked like he was just dumped on with ice water. His eyes were wide and his lips were trembling. "It's not true. Tell it's not true, Clark." Y/N practically begged. And when the hero said nothing at first, he knew it was true.
"It's true, Y/N." Clark whispered.
Y/N felt his heart shatter into a million pieces as he looked at Bizzaro. "Come here, honey. I'll protect you." He had his arms stretched out and in a moment of weakness, Y/N walked towards him.
"Y/N, no!" Clark cried out, but it was too late.
Clark watched as Bizarro blurred them away from the penthouse and left him all alone.

DELTA AIR LINE PLANE
MIDDLE OF NO WHERE
9 HOURS AWAY FROM CROATIA
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, this is it.
You are scored on my heart, Clark.
You were, from the first day you walked in.
With your sweet smile and your ridiculous clothes.
And your bad jokes.
and your complete inability
to ever hide a single thing that you felt.
Don't think of me too often.
I do not want you getting sad.
Just live well.
Just live.
I'll be walking beside you every step of the way.
Love, Will
“Are they okay?” The Delta Air Lines flight attendant walked over to the section where the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team was seated, glancing back and forth between the head coach and Sasha and Azzi, who were sobbing uncontrollably while staring at their devices.
“They’re fine,” Geno waved off the scene, though the gut-wrenching crying had already drawn the attention of several travelers nearby.
“They don’t look fine,” the flight attendant hesitated, unsure if she should trust his word.
“Trust me,” Geno gave her a pointed look. “This is them crying quietly.”
“Well, should I bring them some tissues or maybe a free cookie?” The middle-aged woman suggested, eager to help in any way that might stop the semi-disturbance. Before Geno could tell her not to bother, she strutted away.
“Paige,” Geno tapped one of his guards, reaching across the aisle. “Paige,” he tapped again, more forcefully, disrupting the girl lost in her music, her ruby-red Beats headphones, and a self-motivation book she’d bought from the airport terminal.
“Huh? Wha?” Paige’s blue eyes blinked away from her book and Lana Del Rey’s voice. “What happened?” She quickly pushed off her headphones and turned to see her coach’s semi-annoyed expression.
“Tell the Sasha and Azzi book club over there to keep it down,” Geno pointed to the duo on her right, red-faced and tear-streaked, clutching each other for comfort. “They’re sobbing so loudly that people probably think we’re holding them hostage or something.”
“I told you to ban them from reading,” Paige remarked in an 'I told you so' tone, which her coach clearly didn’t want to hear as he returned to his word puzzle book.
“No one likes a know-it-all, Paige,” Geno rolled his eyes. “Now fix it before we get kicked off the plane.” With that, he resumed his crossword.
"A formal speech, especially one given on a ceremonial occasion (9 letters)... Easy, 'monologue,'" Geno smirked, filling in the word.
“Yo, Thing One and Thing Two, calm it down,” Paige turned to address her wife and best friend. “Y’all are scaring people with your ugly crying.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Shut up, Paige,” Azzi glared, wiping under her eyes.
“Yeah, shut up, Paige,” Sasha chimed in, supporting her best friend. “Go back to your depressing music and leave us alone. Don’t worry about what we’ve got going on over here.”
“If it wasn’t for y’all crying so loud, I’d still be reading my book and listening to my ‘depressing music,’” Paige shot back sassily. But she forgot who she was talking to—her wife, aka Ms. Don’t Play With Her.
“Now, you know I don’t have an inch of ugly on me,” Sasha smirked, giving Paige a once-over. “I’m too pretty to ever be called pretty.”
“Who are you?” Azzi laughed, looking at her friend.
“I’ll be that pretty motherfucker,” Sasha smirked.
“A$AP.”
“Yes sir.”
“Rocky!”
“Yes sir!”
“I’m done with y’all!” Paige exclaimed, turning away from them, pushing her headphones back on, and reopening her book.
“Bestie, let’s read the Twilight collection!” Azzi gasped, realizing she still had the books on her iPad, knowing Sasha probably did too.
“You just want me to go on another ‘I hate Bella Swan’ rant, don’t you?” Sasha shook her head.
“Yeah, so I can go on an ‘I hate Alice Cullen’ rant after you,” Azzi grinned.

“Why are you being creepy?” Sasha mumbled, feeling the gaze of a certain blonde beside her.
“How did you know I was looking at you?” Paige asked, surprised that Sasha, who was dead asleep, could sense her stare.
“I can feel your eyes piercing through my body,” Sasha replied with her eyes still closed, her head resting against Paige. “Now, what do you want?”
“Did you know we’re also going to Barcelona?” Paige’s face lit up with a wide smile, like a kid being handed more candy during a sugar rush.
“And?” Sasha murmured, shifting to get more comfortable.
“What do you mean ‘and’?” Paige furrowed her brows, pushing her wife off her shoulder. “We’re going to Barcelona... we’ve been together for five years... what’s not clicking, Steven?”
“I’m too tired to think, just tell me,” Sasha yawned.
“Ugh, remember the deal we made?” Paige hinted, not wanting to fully give away the answer. “The promise!”
“Still not following…” Sasha forced her body to wake up, knowing Paige wouldn’t stop pestering her.
“The deal was... we would lose our, you know what, before you turned twenty-one, but only if we did it in Barcelona, without actively planning it, and after four years of marriage,” Paige mumbled, trying not to let anyone overhear.
“You woke me up... to tell me that we’re going to Barcelona... because you’re a horny freaky fuck?” Sasha squinted in disbelief.
“Y-yes,” Paige hesitated truthfully, unsure what response she would get.
“You’re lucky you’re cute,” Sasha smiled, squeezing her cheeks. “So, what’s the plan for Barcelona?”
“I was thinking we could convince Geno to give us our own room when we get there,” Paige smiled hopefully. “After practice, we sneak away, maybe have dinner at a fancy restaurant... and then go back to the hotel to... you know. Then we switch rings while relaxing on the balcony.”
“You’ve been thinking about this for some time, haven’t you?” Sasha smirked, her eyes filled with adoration for her adorable wife, who, for some reason, was now acting shy. But it made sense—after all, the two had yet to go beyond a few steamy make-out sessions that had almost gone too far.
“Ever since Geno told me the countries we’d be visiting,” Paige’s smile grew more confident as she gave Sasha’s hand—entwined with hers since the start of the flight—a firm squeeze.
“Well, it’s a good thing I packed that set from Fenty in my suitcase,” Sasha’s suggestive tone sent heat coursing through Paige’s body, the same heat she felt when their kisses got dangerously close to crossing a line.
“The hot pink one?” Paige’s eyes widened in excitement. “You mean the lacy hot pink one with the thigh garters?”
“Yup,” Sasha teased, drawing out the last syllable. “And I brought that skirt you love.”
“The short skater skirt?” Paige whispered, eyes bright.
“That’s the one,” Sasha nodded.
“Does Barcelona have sex stores? I-I think we need to visit one,” Paige stuttered, already imagining how their night in Barcelona would unfold.
“I think they do... but we’ve got time, honey. Barcelona is the last destination of the trip.”
“So I have to wait until the end of the month?” Paige’s jaw dropped in disbelief and desperation.
“Yup,” Sasha nodded again. “But don’t worry, we’ve gone years without sex. I’m sure you can wait another month.”
“Y-yeah,” Paige muttered, though her voice lacked any conviction.

“Oh my God, I can’t take this anymore,” Sasha groaned, unbuckling her seatbelt and standing up to stretch.
“What are you doing?” Paige’s eyes followed her wife’s every move. “The seatbelt light’s on. You need to be seated.”
“I can’t take it anymore. I need to stand or I’ll literally die inside,” Sasha rolled her eyes as she began doing squats in the aisle.
“Sit down before you get hurt. We only have an hour left,” Paige tried reasoning, but from the way Sasha kept moving, it was clear her words were going in one ear and out the other.
“If I sit down, I’ll go insane,” Sasha huffed. “First, my eyes hurt from reading. Second, they don’t have any more ginger ale, and the flight attendant had the nerve to ask if I wanted Coke. Do I look like a Coke-drinking ass person? I can’t even drink soda like that or my—"
“OCD will be triggered by a sugar rush,” Paige finished for her, already knowing the answer.
“And whoever thought these seats were spacious enough clearly never met a tall person. My knees are killing me,” Sasha continued her rant.
“You’re 5’10. Calm down,” Paige rolled her eyes, just wanting Sasha to sit down before they got reprimanded by the flight attendants.
“And you’re about to be sleeping by yourself when we get to the hotel,” Sasha shot back quickly.
“You know you can’t sleep without me, and I can’t sleep without you. So stop with the empty threats,” Paige dismissed her, and from Sasha’s groan, Paige knew she’d won a small argument for once today.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the seatbelt sign is on. For your safety, please return to your seat and fasten your seatbelt.” The voice of the flight attendant echoed through the cabin, increasing Sasha’s irritation.
“She means you, so sit down now,” Paige used her firm voice, the one reserved for moments of urgency.
“Ugh,” Sasha groaned loudly, not caring about the looks she received. “What the fuck are they staring at?” she mumbled, returning to her seat between a deeply asleep Azzi and Paige.
“They’re staring at you, obviously. Seatbelt light means sit down. No seatbelt light means you can stand.”
“My knees hurting means I need to stand the fuck up, and my knees not hurting means I can sit,” Sasha snapped back, pulling her blanket over her legs. “You get cleared, and suddenly you’re all sassy.”
“No, being married to you means I have to be sassy constantly.”
“So you admit you’re sassy,” Sasha looked at Paige with mock seriousness.
“I’m only sassy because you make me sassy,” Paige retorted.
“I can’t make you do anything you don’t already want to do,” Sasha shook her head. “So, you want to be sassy.”
“Stop talking to me.”
“Guess we hate hearing the truth,” Sasha shrugged. “Call that flight attendant and ask her for a Coke.”
“Weren’t you just saying ‘Do I look like a Coke-drinking ass person?’”
“Shut up, Paige.”

I See Red
TomWelling!Superman x afab!reader
Word Count: 664
A/N: Smallville (as Lois would call him) has been aged up to be 20. Post graduating highschool. I’m only on season 4 at the moment so the characters are only from the first 4 seasons (also not my gif!).
Warnings: Little bit of RedKryptonite!Clark, suggestive language, angsty asf, bad grammar, mention of family member death. I think that’s it!
Happy Reading!
Tumblr media
It was one hell of a stormy day in Smallville, closely imitating twister weather. You’re sitting up in the Kent Hay loft watching the rain pound over the farm, it was relaxing. This weather put your mind an ease, you weren’t thinking about school, the Talon, or Clark. You hear a voice, you jump turning to face the one calling you.
“Hey!”, Chloe waves, “Sorry, I- didn’t mean to spook you.” She smiles walking to sit across from you on the bay window seat. “I heard you were staying with the Kent’s, and I wanted to drop by and check on you, I know things have been rough since Clark disappeared.” She reaches her hand to your shoulder.
“I’m okay”, you flash a fake smile turning you gaze back to the rolling rain. “How’s Lana?”, eyes still fixed on the rain.
“She’s not great, but she’s also not okay”, Chloe removes her hand from your shoulder.
“Oh”, is all you can muster up.
“Why don’t you go talk to her, and ask her for yourself?”, this question removes your eyes from the downpour.
“Why? She’s not talking to me. She thinks I’M the reason Clark left.”
“I doubt that’s true, y/n. You’re her BEST friend.”
“WAS”, you sneer.
“No IS”, she replies. “I think you should go to the Talon, and TALK to her.” She stands up, grabs your arm tugging you off the seat. “Gosh you’re so weird, I would definitely put you on my SECRET wall of weird if you’re weren’t human.”, you roll your eyes. Your body is hesitant to stand up but you finally do, following Chloe out of the Hayloft. “You and Clark are really are perfect for each other.”
“Yeah, I guess so”, you chuckle. You file into Chloe’s new red beetle and head into town. After while, the rain soaks back up into the clouds, and you are finally at Lana’s coffee shop. Your heart pounding with anxiety, “I don’t want to do this, I have nothing to say to her.”
“Oh yes you do”, Chloe got out of the drivers side walking around to you and pulling you out of the car. You entered the shop, you pick out the table farthest from the bar where Lana is cleaning the after math of the rainstorm rush.
“Chloe, I don’t want to be here.” You put your head down on the table and let out a long winded dramatic whine.
“That sucks, but you guys need to talk”, she rubs your back. “HEY! Lana!”, she waves her over. Lana walks over smiling, you lift your head up smiling back.
“Hey! Chloe! Y/n!”, she exclaims, she doesn’t see upset at all, or maybe she’s putting on face to save Chloe some embarrassment. “Usuals?”
“YES?”, you and Chloe exclaim in unison.
“Got it! Two. VANILLA iced lattes coming up!”, she walks away making her way back to the coffee bar.
“See, she’s not upset! You’re fine.”, Chloe gestures.
“She doesn’t seem like it, but Lana has always been good at putting on a face. You and I both know that”, you respond.
After about 5 minutes Lana returns with three blue coffee mugs, “I need a break, I think I’m gonna join you girls for some coffee, if you don’t mind!”, she sits down in the chair across from you and Chloe.
“Totally!”, Chloe states. You guys chat for a bit about school, life, and nothing about Clark; you preferred this. Lana has been your best friend since Kindergarten, and you guys have made it a point to not let petty one sided drama get in between your friendship. The Clark situation left as quickly as it came. Chloe was shocked at the lack of Clark talk, maybe she wanted some drama for her Tourch gossip.
After your coffee dinner you ended up back at the Kent’s getting ready for bed, 5 am comes quickly, you put your hair in a braid and put on Clark’s primary red sweatshirts and a pair of boxers and climb into his bed that you were borrowing. You dose off after 20 minutes. Your sleep was restful for the first hour. You jolt awake from the bed shifting beside you.
“You look peaceful”, the voice was familiar, but in your groggy state you couldn’t pin it down.
“Wha-“, you roll over turning on his bedside lamp, and jump spooked by the boy sitting next to you shirtless on his bed. “Oh-oh my gosh CLARK?!”, you whisper scream as to not wake his parents. You reach your hand out to touch his face in awe, “oh-oh wow!”, a smile fills your face.
“Hey baby”, his smile was alluring, but it wasn’t normal, it was full of mischief. “Sorry I did not mean to wake you.” He adds running his hands through you hair sweeping back the whispies blocking your face.
“Clark, what are you doing here?”, your voice laced with concern.
“I thought it was time to come home.”
“Wow”, you huff, crossing your arms slightly pushing your boobs up. Clark stares intently at your chest. “CLARK! You’re a perv!”, you swiftly uncross your arms hitting him on the shoulder as hard as you can. He chuckles.
“Sorry, I can’t help it.” He lays down next you stripping off his pants so he’s left in only Calvin Klein briefs. You can’t help, but use your “X-Ray” vision, “Hey you pervert. I’m trying to get some rest”, he mocks. He rolls over you to turn off the lamp. He wraps you in his arms and both of you drift off to sleep.
You feel something growing against your back, you lean into him acknowledging that you feel his hardening dick unintentionally. He draws you in closer, kissing down your neck as a response to your movements. He sends shivers down your spine, he snakes his hands underneath the sweatshirt lightly stroking the bare skin of your back. “So soft”, Clark whispers against your neck, “I missed your skin.”
He’s acting like nothing has happened, like he didn’t disappear for 2 months to who knows where. You looked for him in Metropolis, Gotham, other parts of Kansas and yet you couldn’t find your stupid boyfriend especially when you needed him the most. Your grandpa passed away and it left you homeless and due to your proximity to the Kent’s they let you stay during summer before the Fall semester of KU began. You appreciate their kindness, but for some reason Mr. Kent wanted you, the girl with the pretty nails and terrible sleep schedule to wake up at 5am to “pull your share” which meant mucking stalls and lifting heavy bales of hay. You were completely okay with this set-up you love being outside and around animals although the hay rash is a tad bothersome.
“Do your parents know your back?”, you whisper eyes still closed.
“No.” His voice was stern, like he was angry at you for even asking.
“Oh.”
“Don’t worry I’ll tell them in the morning”, he follows, “we aren’t waking up at five am, as a member of the Kent family I declare you have an off day.” You smile exhaling a sigh from your nose.
“Fine”, he smiles into your neck wrapped you in closer.
The sun creeps through his curtains and an annoying screeching fills the room. You wrestle to turn off the alarm clock blaring in your ear. You finally get it off, you feel emptiness beside you, ‘where is he?’ You get out of bed sliding on a pair of house shoes and stumble out the room, down the stairs, and begin making your way out the house to the hayloft where you suspect Clark to be hiding. You don’t see him, but the storm cellar door is open in the distance. You knew this ship was hiding there, you know Clark’s secret, but not everything. You didn’t know why he disappeared, or why he was acting like a complete ass before he left. You see a red light beaming through the dark room. “Good morning”, you say waltzing down the stairs.
“Hey.” He doesn’t turn around, his eyes fixed on the glowing red rock.
“What is that?”, you ask coming closer and wrapping your arms around his toned stomach.
“Red Kryptonite”, he answers eyes still enamored.
“Oh.” You give him a tight hug, sighing into his back, “what does it do?”
“Changes me.”
“What do you mean?”
“It makes me feel like me,” he pauses, “like Kal- El.”
“Who?”
“That’s my birth name”, he answers.
“So the real you disappears for a long period of time, doesn’t tell anyone where you are, and comes back out of the blue acting like everything is okay?”, you break away from him. He finally removes his gaze from the rock, closing the led box.
He sighs, “I don’t FEEL anything, that’s what I like. I FEEL so much, sometimes I don’t want to. I want to make my decisions based off myself sometimes and not care about how others feel”, Clark exclaims.
“You can’t be serious right now”, you argue irritations flooding your voice. He just looks at you with those dumb baby blues. “I swear! That was so selfish of you, why did you do it? Because you couldn’t handle the fact that I was leaving Smallville? Were you scared? Why Clark? Why would you be so selfish at a time I needed YOU most”, tears fill your beautiful bright eyes. You begin crying, sliding down onto the ground, emotions completely uncontrollable. He sighs, sitting down next you wrapping his big arms around you pulling you into a comforting hug.
“I thought I told you were sleeping in?” He chuckles. You sniffle staring up at his blue eyes yet again.
“Clark, I’m not playing with you I’m very upset and I think you owe me an explanation.”
“You will get one, but not right now. Right now you get an apology”, he begins softly stroking your messy curls that peaked out from last night’s braid and kisses the top of your head. “I’m sorry y/n, I never meant to hurt you” he adds rocking you in his arms.
“Well you did, did you know papa died the day after you left?”
“Yeah, I was at the funeral.”
“Why didn’t you say anything?”
“I couldn’t, and that’s because I was being selfish”, you hum at his response.
“I’m hungry, I think your mom is awake. Let’s go eat some breakfast and we can talk about this later”, you smile standing up, reaching out your hand to pull him off the ground. He pulls you back down with his ‘super strength’. He kisses your lips deeply, a kiss you missed so much. You match his rhythm hands tangling in each others hair.
“I love you”, he breaks away from the kiss looking lovingly into your eyes. You smile leading him out of the storm cellar to Mrs. Kent in the kitchen laying out freshly cooked pancakes.

I cannot stop thinking about the comparison between BBC Merlin and Smallville.
As the directors of BBC Merlin have said, an inspiration has been taken from the ten long seasons of Smallville, an US TV show I always loved, and literally grew up with, and since a few months back, I also made a re-watch of Smallville, I can’t stop thinking about the potential BBC Merlin could have had, if it actually followed some bits of the storyline of Smallville.
We can already see some of the similarities between the shows:
Merlin wears a red neckerchief with a blue tunic and viceversa, like Clark Kent, and whenever he’s hopeless or sad or angry, he wears worn out grey colours, and as an avid fan of Smallville, I can assure you that Clark Kent wears the same things;
Clark Kent has to hide his powers in a world that would hurt him, kill him, or experiment on him, if he let on his deepest secret, and for that, he not only loses the people he cares about the most, much like Merlin does, which are his father, his friends, his lovers, and almost even his mother, but forbids himself to fall in love, and therefore pursue any kind of relationship;
he’s witty, yes, like Merlin, but also shy and brave and lonely.
But the difference between Smallville and Merlin is that in Smallville, there is the closure I would have liked to see in Merlin:
Clark kent does hide his secrets, and he is good at it, until everyone else finds out about him, all on their own.
We’re talking about everyone (maybe because Clark/Merlin are not as sly as they think):
Lex and Lionel and Luthessa Luthor, Lana Leng, Chloe Sullivan, Pete Ross, Oliver Queen and so many others, either because they already had their suspicions or because someone else showed them.
And this brings the right amount of angst in the show, mixed with the betrayal and the lies and the secrets and the love triangles and the tropes that come out of them.
But where is Arthur in this picture?
Oh, this is the good bit.
For very obvious reasons, apart from the fact that he doesn’t talk as much as her, Arthur is definitely Lois Lane.
FROM THIS MOMENT ON, SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN’T WATCHED SMALLVILLE:
Lois Lane makes her appearance as a main character in the later seasons, after Clark understands that he has officially lost Lana, and starts working at the Daily Planet, in the same office as Lois.
But, unlike Arthur, Lois loves Superman (or The Blur, as he’s called for the entire ten seasons of Smallville, because he’s always caught on camera, but just as a blur). She talks to him in secret, and Clark masks his voice through the phone, he helps her and she helps him, he saves her innumerable times (does this remind you of anything?), and each time Lois compliments The Blur, Clark gets angry, because it’s his alter ego who gets the praise for a job well done, and not him, the clumsy idiot of the Daily Planet, much like everyone else in Merlin’s life has always got the credit for saving Arthur’s life, instead of him.
But what they should have given us in Merlin is what they gave us in Smallville, and it would have honestly made for the biggest magic reveal:
once Clark needs to fend off another enemy of the year, and thinks he’s going to officially die, he goes to say goodbye to his friends and his most loved ones, Lois included (“I’m happy to be your servant, until the day I die”).
Although, unlike in Merlin, where Arthur is a sweet himbo, who doesn’t inspect, and who doesn’t suspect anything, Lois had her suspicions, given that she and Clark had not only started falling in love, but now worked together too, and since she cared a whole lot about him, she follows Clark.
In the Smallville TV show, Lois hides behind a building from where, minutes later, Clark falls from. Lois believes he’s dead (Clark is immortal, and this begs the questions again: does he remind you of anyone?), and notices that he’s been stabbed in the chest with a blue crystal (context: the blue kryptonite removes Clark’s powers, and renders him human, and therefore mortal, unless the kryptonite, much like the green one, gets away from him). Following her guts, and sad and desperate that the man she loves the most might die, and believing in her suspicions and instinct, Lois pulls the crystal from Clark’s body, but the moment she hears some clutter, probably thinking they’re the enemies, she runs away, and goes back hiding.
And there, she sees him.
Clark grunts, gets up, completely safe ad healthy, sees that the crystal may have fallen by itself, or simply disappeared (and actually asks himself how that could have happened) and runs away:
by using his super fast power.
And Lois sees him.
Now, what could have been perfect was, if Arthur did the same.
After an attack gone wrong in the woods and losing sight of Merlin, he goes searching for the idiot, yelling something very along the lines of, “Where’s that useless buffoon?”, when he’s actually worried sick, and finds Merlin stabbed in the middle of a clearing.
Now, Arthur despises magic. He loathes it, he doesn’t trust it, yet, bless him, he still tries to understand it. This could have happened after Uther’s death, the moment Arthur’s reign begins.
He watches Merlin.
Arthur’s alone and shocked and scared and sick, so he drops to his knees next to him. He does not cry, he does not scream, he does not faint, that’s not really him at the end of the day, right? (Lois is the same. She grew up in a strict household with a strict solider father, and has lost her mother, and she had to be the parent to her older sister… Very, very much like Arthur). Or that’s what he thinks, and out of pure desperation, and something that sounds a bit like love, just like Lois Lane, since Merlin flinches, when he should be dead, for goodness’ sake, and out of instics and probably destiny, Arthur pulls whatever has stabbed Merlin out of his abdomen.
But as soon as he does, and as soon as he hears the knights coming close to him, and not to alarm anyone, and because he does not want them to see him in this sort of shocked state, Arthur hides behind a tree.
And there, he watches as Merlin, half dead and half alive, calls for Kilgharrah.
And Arthur has the same reaction of the finale.
He does not act on what he just discoveres.
At first, he’s sceptical, once Merlin comes back like he always does (and now he knows why and how), so he avoids him, he makes awful jokes, or hints about magic and about how powerful and dangerous it can be.
But once he’s sort of gone over this phase, noticing that Merlin hasn’t done anything with his big powers, like showing him off or anything of the likes (because Arthur has always known, magic or not, that Merlin would have never hurt him or Camelot), Arthur becomes… Curious.
And here comes the part that aligns with Smallville (we can also add the sexuality/gender identity/coming out metaphor):
much like in Smallville, and with magic and superpowers, and like in real life, someone does not force this information out of people, but Arthur, like Lois, is dying of curiosity, and just wants Merlin/Clark to trust him/her and tell him/her his secret, because he/she already knows of it.
So Arthur starts doing what Lois did.
The day after everything is well, and Lois now certainly knows about Clark’s superpowers, and the fact that he is The Blur, she goes to work, until Clark arrives too, and tells her that he must be quick for something, and needs some documents for a research. Lois stalls, and pretends she’s being SUDDENLY clumsy and a bit of an idiot (this would go perfectly well with Arthur, because he is an idiot, and he is also smitten with Merlin), and let her pen fall under the desk, to see what Clark would do.
And he uses his powers.
So imagine a wild Arthur in his natural habitat (his chambers), bored like no one else, and on the verge of imploding, because his manservant and best friend and love of his life he’s being stubborn and an oaf and an idiot and a toad.
He lets the apples or the sword or the belt fall under the table, pretends he’s keen to an act of kindness, and picks up the items himself, instead of letting Merlin do it, while he instructs said servant to do something else in the meantime.
Shocked at first, but following through with the orders, Merlin does as he’s being told, after throwing several sceptical looks at his prat of a king, and as soon as Arthur gets up from his crouched down position on the floor, the bed is already done, and the clothes are already folded, and Arthur goes mad, because, oh, he was right, and what else can Merlin do?
The curiosity gets him as much as his developing feelings for the cretin, with apparently super magical powers, who could also break a neck with a flick of his eyes, if he wanted to, and Arthur starts pretending to be even more of an idiot to see more magic, without Merlin knowing that he’s actually showing Arthur his abilities.
And the best part of it all?
The magic reveal.
I love Smallville, because the way Clark confesses his secret to Lois isn’t anything grand or majestic.
Yes, Clark does take Lois flying; yes, he also shags the living brains out of her, IN THEIR FARMS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE (I must do this again but, does this remind you of ANYONE/ANYTHING IN PARTICULAR?), but he’s just built and hot and intelligent, but also very, very shy and a bit silly.
That’s why I love Clark the most as the best version of Superman, and Merlin as the best version of the famous wizard.
So Clark calls Lois to meet him in one of the Daily Planets departments, where documents and papers are stashed and kept there, on the last floor of the building, and where no one ever goes, and he fidgets a bit with his fingers, and he stammers a lot, and Lois is about to lose it, because still, after all these years, and our love? And how can Clark not tell me? Does he not trust me? Does he not want me like I want him? And all these emotions are well encompassed on her face, because Clark fails to tell her, and he says that he’s sorry, he can’t lose her, he can’t take that risk, he has lost so many loved ones already, and what does Lois do?
She understands, because she loves Clark, and she does not want to force him.
She gulps her tears, she miles brokenly, she nods, she tells Clark that it’s fine, but when she’s about to turn on the elevator, Clark realises that the love of his life is about to slip away from his fingers, and just blurts his secret out like a bloody moron.
Much like Merlin would do.
“I’m The Blur.”, he says, and Lois smiles, she turns around, and she runs to him, and literally jumps him, until they both fall back together, and laugh and stutter out their words and yes… They end up snogging.
Now, I want you to imagine a wild Arthur standing on one of the towers or balconies in the Camelot castle, while Merlin is being the usual insecure, oblivious man Arthur’s known for over ten years, and he turns around at the confession, and he runs to Merlin, and he pulls him to him, and while in this version, Arthur gives Merlin a concussion, as he hits the stone floor (because they are romantic, but also more stupid than Lois and Clark, since they’re, you know, a bloody gay disaster), he snogs the shit out of him too, and they start working together, and getting rid of the enemies together, and form a bond that is even deeper than the one they had before already, and Arthur meets Hunith’s mother as someone else entirely, while the chaos ensue, and so do the messy feelings:
like it happened in Smallville, but did not, because Lord forbid the gays, happened in BBC Merlin.
The knights of The Round table are the other DC superheros, and Guinevere could either be a superhero of her own or the wise and smart counsellor, who would be the journalist in Smallville, and Morgana is still Arthur’ sister, good or evil, it does not matter (she could either be after Merlin or after him, the options are innumerable).
Morgana is basically the obnoxious sister Lois’ has always had, who even gets a fake crush on Clark/Merlin to manipulate the two (these TV shows are too similar, I swear).
But I’m not done.
Oh, no, I’m not.
Because imagine all of this, imagine Smallville, but as a literal crossover with Merlin:
a fanfic where Merlin is the apparent imbecile employee at the Daily Planet, who actually has so many super powers, and he’s invincible, and his boss is Arthur Prat Pendragon, who is sceptical of superheroes, and his father Uther haunts them down, and is the owner of said Daily Planet, and loathes Merlin, because he talks about superheroes in his newspapers, and about his dad, because sodding fucking hell, he could control dragons.
Imagine the mess as these two fall in love, even if Merlin thinks he hates the rich, twat boss, whose order he has to follow, while Arthur treats him like a servant, rather than a journalist; Gwen could be either Chloe or Lana Leng, the best friend or the past lover, and Lancelot becomes Guinevere’s Jimmy or Oliver Queen, and Pete Ross is Will for Merlin, and Uther, is still the mad man they have to defy.
Merlin could have had so much potential, and a plethora of ways to have the magic reveal happen, and yet it was not used, and yes, if you didn’t notice, I’m still so mad over it.
I cannot fathom the amount of happiness I would have felt if they actually merged two of my favourite TV shows ever together, a good crossover between Smallville and the Arthuriana, in this case, BBC Merlin in particular.

a tuppence for your bi4bi Clois thoughts 🪙... I'm luv them so much and I'd love to hear if you have any specific headcanons about them 🥺
YESSSS!!! i DO have some thoughts. i love them,
generally i think lois has her bisexuality figured out by the time she's in her mid-20s. she and cat grant have had some rage-filled makeouts on at least one occasion, but an actual relationship would never in a million years work out between them. they respect each other but do not see eye to eye nearly enough. she never bothered to come out to her father, but just knows it's one more thing about her that he'd hate.
clark, by contrast, does Not have it figured out. he has spent his entire life repressing every single thought, feeling, and ability that set him apart from the classic good all-american boy because he had to fit in. and being superman, exploring his kryptonian heritage, etc., has helped, of course, but he is still. so repressed. he has no idea that he's ever experienced attraction to guys before. he's got some internalized homophobia to work through, about himself. He Has To Be Normal. so as far as he's concerned, there was lana, and then there was lois.
to me, clark's journey toward self-acceptance is very intrinsically tied to his family. there's kara, talking about how sexuality and gender stuff on krypton wasn't like it is on earth, especially in western culture. there's kon, suffering through his own repression and depression and trying to pretend he's fine. there's chris and jon, both too young to fully grasp it all (probably), who make clark incredibly aware of every step he makes in terms of parenting them.
so one day, after kon's finally come out to the family, and kara's muddled through trying to figure out earth labels that she's comfortable with, the two of them decide they wanna go to pride, and ask lois and clark if they want to make it a family affair. lois says hell yeah, and clark says yes of course he's happy to support them! and jon says YAY, GLITTER!! CAN I GET STICKERS? and chris says if you get glitter all over my nintendo ds again i will punt you into the ocean, baby brother or not.
and there's just this innocuous moment while they're out when kon goes "here i got you these!" and hands lois and clark two simple lil heart-shaped bi flag buttons. and lois is like aw thanks squirt! and ruffles kon's hair. clark meanwhile goes oh i think there's been a misunderstanding... ... . . . .. . .. .. . or. has there?
and that night he's just sitting on the edge of the bed holding this tiny like $3 button in his hands having a whole crisis. lois hooks her chin over his shoulder and asks what's wrong? and he's like. lois i'm not. i'm. except maybe i'm not not. but i don't know, i thought i... i never thought i could think about it. clark kent is supposed to be normal. i... i'm already an alien, lois, i thought i was already set apart enough, and if i'm... if i'm this, even when i'm clark, not superman, then... then...
and lois digs her matching little $3 bi flag heart button out of her purse and bumps it against his and says, even if you are queer, you're still not alone. and then clark gives her the patented kent family big soft puppy-dog eyes. that night, he falls asleep in her arms with his head tucked snugly under her chin. it's where he feels safest.
but the next year, he lets kara get him a flag, and lets kon tie it around his shoulders like a cape. and he's here as clark kent, but it's kind of funny when he looks at his shadow. because he might not be superman right now, but the silhouette still looks the same.

smallville really liked to flirt with and dance around the idea of lex having severe mental health issues but only ever in ways where it was used to reinforce that lex was Doomed By The Narrative. lex was shown as having multiple psychotic breaks, including at least one instance in his youth where the only external catalyst was trauma, even going so far as to have him institutionalized over it, but always stops short of actually establishing him as a person who has a psychotic disorder because that might, you know, necessitate treating it with empathy.
brain go brrr with thoughts bc there was so much smallville could have explored with lex’s mental health but nope!

Long post, but TLDR: Lois is allowed to be flawed.
Everyone and their mother is talking about how Lois responded to Clark's secret. It seems like many are on the side of Lois, believing she did nothing wrong. And then there are many who are on the side of Clark, believing he did nothing wrong.
Before I say what I believe, let me make this point: it seems that any time a female character does something wrong, fans immediately dislike the character from that point onward. And before anyone thinks I am referring only to male fans, nope! It's actually all of my female friends who grow immediately disgusted with the female character and refuse to redeem her.
And honestly, it's hard to blame them. Because often, when a female character does something that is morally wrong, it's not written as a character flaw that she will learn to work through. It's written as an Epic Girl Power Moment! Look at this Strong Indepedent Woman! She'll jump off a building to prove she's right - that's so cool and edgy and not a sign of emotional instability at all!
What Lois did came from a place of emotional instability, and that's not a bad thing. The writers need to lean into that to flesh her out as a character, and I think they will.
Someone else mentioned how Lois's issues with her father have led to this moment. Her father concealed everything from her, and growing up, Lois probably had to learn how to get the truth out of him, even if she had to use manipulation. It was kind of a survival skill. She can't stand not knowing something, and that's why she's at a job where she gets to learn EVERYTHING.
So now she's got this good friendship with Clark in which she has tried to be more open with him than their first story together. They have built trust. When Lois finds out that he is Superman, she gives him the chance to open up to her. Judging by her playful attitude, if Clark told her that he is Superman, Lois would have probably reacted positively.
And then things take a turn. Lois is so desparate for the truth that she handcuffs herself to Superman. And then he leaves her at the Daily Planet so she won't get hurt.
That's probably when Lois was at her most unstable. Because that whole time, she waited for him, wondering if he would get hurt. And when she saw the scratches on Clark, it probably reminded her of how she felt when she found out her mom was sicker than her dad would admit. That was the nail in the coffin for her.
By taking a step off that building, Lois is acting out of unresolved grief.
Yes, what Lois did was wrong. But that doesn't make her a bad character. It makes her a real one. By trying to defend her actions as "good," "right," "just," and "morally sound," it would do a disservice to where the writers are going with her character. Or at least, where I hope they go. I really hope this isn't a case of "Epic Girl Power Moment."
As for Clark, he did nothing wrong. People (albeit few) are trying to say he should have told Lois the truth...but he already tried. His fear about her publishing his secrets was valid, because that's what she said in Episode 1 - "We'll make him tell us his secrets - AND THEN WE'LL PUBLISH THEM!" Clark has no reason to believe that Lois wouldn't do that.
I also think Clark struggles to see what people actually think of him. Because maybe if he could see how much Lois cares about him, he wouldn't have been scared to tell her the truth about his identity. Instead, he believes that she "hates" Superman...which she never said she did, that I can remember. Clark just assumed that.
So I think maybe Clark had an experience growing up that made him think that everyone would hate or disrespect him. Probably something to do with why he couldn't play sports, or how his connection with Lana ended up. It's seen in how desperate he is to be a "normal man with a normal life." He's afraid that people won't accept him for who he is.
If Clark and Lois talk through it, it could be the most touching moment in Clois history.

Smallville Clark Kent x black goth reader
Clark was supposed to take you to prom but then Lana asked him and he immediately accepts forgetting all about you...
Tumblr media
"Do my reporter eyes deceive me or is that a smile I see on your face Y/n?" Chole asked Leaning against her locker you just let out a low laugh pretending to look for your science book
"I have no idea what you're talking about Chole." She just rolled her eyes turning towards you with a smirk on her face.
"Oh don't act innocent with me I heard it from Pete that Clark worked up the courage to ask you out for prom! How am I the last one to find out about this?!"
"It's no big deal literally we were both just sitting and talking about how we thought prom was going to be lame cuz we both didn't have a date and that's when he just asked me if could go together." I said nonchalantly closing my locker walking away Chloe scoffed and walked next to me arms crossed.
"So he asked you to prom and you're just totally okay with this?"
"Yeah I mean it's just two friends going to prom together. He's going to be in a suit and I'm just going to be in a plain old black dress no biggy!"
"Oh yeah your crush AKA Clark asked you to prom and you're not freaking out?" I bumped her shoulder caused her laughing and that's when we bumped into Clark who was holding flowers red rose's your favorite Chole looked at you with a knowing look.
"Oh hey Clark nice roses you got there buddy who's the lucky lady." Oh she was going to get it later!
Guys you won't believe what just happened!"
"Hmm let me guess you finally realize that you need a change of wardrobe and decided to go goth like me? Oh oh I know we can be goth buddies! Wouldn't that sound so much fun?" I said making funny poses to show off your goth beauty he rolled his eyes but laughed still having that big smile on his face.
"Thanks for the suggestion but no uh Lana asked me to prom." And with that the smile was wiped clean off your face you looked at Clark a bit confused.
"Wait what I thought she wasn't going to prom but she was going to skip out because of the whole Whitney thing?"
"Oh well she changed her mind and asked me if I wanted to go with her." He said blushing with a smile on his face, Chloe looked at you and you just looked at Clark like he had two heads.
"So did you say no because you know you weren't really planning to go to prom in the first place and you don't have a suit."
"I said yes and I'm pretty sure dad has one at home so wish me luck guys see you in class later Y/n!"
He said walking away from us all you could do was just stand there in shock and wondering did that really just happen? Did our whole entire conversation yesterday just flew over his head or were you just hallucinating the whole entire thing? Chloe tried to get your attention but you kind of just spaced out feeling something sliding down your cheek it was a tear...
"Y/n? Are you okay?" You wiped your face letting out a humorless laugh.
" Uh yeah I'm okay it's fine, it's totally fine I don't even know what I was thinking. I'll uh see you after class okay Chole?" Before she gets say anything you speed walked away from her holding your book close to your chest already feeling the tears escaping, today is just really sucked all because of Lana fucking Lang!
The whole day you didn't talk to anyone Chole tried to get you to say something but you stayed silent Pete who had heard what happened also tried to cheer you up but you just got up from the class room leaving for him, your two friends felt sad for you and angry at Clark who seemed oblivious to how upset you were.
"Clark we need to talk man." Pete says at Clark's place helping him find a suit for the prom tonight.
"Yeah sure what's up?"
"So uh did you notice how Y/n looked today?
"Yeah she said she had failed a math test today and was pretty bummed about it." Pete gave Clark a look and rolled his eyes putting a hand on his forehead at his friend clueless.
"Dude Y/n A class student! Why would she be upset about getting an f on her math test when math is her best subject!"
"That's true..i'll text her later ask her what's wrong she did look sad."
"Uh maybe that's not a good idea."
Clark gave Pete on a confused face and then turn to look at him .
"Okay Pete you obviously know what's happening with her more than me so why don't you just say it."
"I don't want to say anything."
"Why not? Obviously you have a big opinion on it you might as well tell me." Clark was getting annoyed and Pete was too he was there when Lana came up and asked Clark if he was going to the dance and he didn't even hesitate or think about you when saying yes it was really annoying, seeing as you were so happy but then the whole entire day you were upset.
"Okay fine I'll say it look man I'm happy that you finally had a chance to make progress with Lana but why can't you just you know realize what's in front of you and move on?"
"I don't understand I thought you'd be be happy for me. I finally have a shot with Lana."
"I am happy but weren't you already planning on not going and then you and YN had that conversation about going together?"
"I mean yeah but it wasn't serious...it was just a suggestion!"
"Maybe for you.." Clark clenched his fist.
"Come on Y/n doesn't even like prom she thinks it's lame!"
"Yeah because she's never had anyone ask her to prom dude, and the minute the guy that she's been having a crush on finally asked her out to prom you ditch her for Lana." The room was silent Clark starred at his best friend eyes wide.
"Wait...Y/n has a crush on me?" Pete nods his head.
"Yeah and she was really happy the whole day until you told her about going with Lana. Look man i get that you're happy that you finally have a chance with Lana but you really hurt Y/n." Pete grabbed his stuff and left leaving a guilt feeling Clark behind.
"Sweetie are you sure you'll be fine?" Your aunt asked sitting in the car with your uncle you have a smile.
"I'll be fine auntie I'm just going to be at home watching TV or binge watching and any snacks I'll be fine go on and have fun you guys deserve it." You're in Uncle we're going to go out and celebrate their 7th or anniversary.
"Well call us if anything happens kiddo there's some leftovers but I left some money on the table for you if you wanted to order pizza!" You uncle says you have a thumbs up and they were gone you closed and lock the door behind you let it out a sigh you are home alone on a Friday night absolutely nothing to do it sucked. You sat on the sofa eating cookies than suddenly there was a knock on the front door you had to get back up to open it that's when you saw Clark standing there you immediately dropped to the floor crawling towards the kitchen to hide from his sight so he didn't see you what is he doing here?!
"Y/n? I know your in there please open the door." You let out a scoff.
"Y/n is not here at the moment leave a message at the beep! Beeeeep!"
"Y/n! Come on!"
"Go away Kent!"
"Please just let me explain!"
"I don't want to hear it! Just go to prom with your chance to dance with Lana Lang!"
Clark winced at the anger in your voice directed towards him, now he really felt bad he honestly didn't mean to make you upset.
"Look I know I messed up but can we please just talk about it and it's raining!"
"Aww really? Well you should have thought about that before you came here without an umbrella!
a couple of minutes went by and you thought it was safe to come out cuz you didn't hear him but then you were suddenly grabbed from behind and lifted up off the ground causing you to let out a screech of surprise!
"You put me down right now Clark Kent!"
"Not until you hear me out!"
"If you don't leave I swear to God I will-!"
"Y/n please just listen okay?" He set me down but didn't let go I was now facing his chest but refused to look at him.
"Clark I'd rather not listen to anything you have to say right." I turned my face away from him trying not to let him see how upset I was but he just held me closer to his chest refusing to let go.
"I know your mad at me but I'm sorry okay? I'm sorry I'm such an Idiot."
"You're right. You are an idiot Clark! You're an absolute idiot for making me think that we are going to go to prom together! So congratulations you know you're the biggest fool I've ever met in my life!" I tired to get out of his hold but he just wouldn't but God you forgot how strong this boy was it kind of felt nice being in his arms but you were not going to forgive him that easily! You are not going to admit defeat!
"I know we both said that prom was lame but because we were both mostly upset we didn't have a date but I really did think you actually want to go with me!" I hide my face in his chest feeling tears well up he didn't say anything but his hold did loosen a bit but you were to upset to care.
"Pete told me something that had me thinking."
"Do you... like me?"
"Even if I did it wouldn't change anything now would it?"
"It would have changed a lot. Ha the farm boy and the goth girl together who would have thought?" He let's out a chuckle putting his chin on my head hugging me I let out a small laugh.
"Y/n I really really am sorry. I was so caught up on my feelings towards Lana I didn't stop to think about you."
"It's fine..."
"Don't do that."
"Don't do what?"
"Don't discourage your feelings like that. You have every right to be upset." He pulls away from the hug lifting up my chin to make me look at him you let out a sigh.
"Well it's too late now. Well I doubt there's going to be a prom now that it's raining and here I was looking forward to seeing you in a suit." I gave a pout.
"We can still have prom." He gave a smile causing you to stare at him confused
Later he told you to go change into your dress which honestly confused you but listen to him when you got down stairs you saw the living room full of candles and Clark stood in the middle playing a slow song holding a red rose.
(I tried to find a black girl in goth dress but didn't find much😭)
Tumblr media
"Clark...what is this? " You looked around in amazement he grabs your hand handing you the rose.
"Seeing as I asked you to prom first I should keep to my word."
"What about Lana?"
"I called and told her I already had plans with someone else for prom."
wow he rejected his only chance of being with the girl he's liked forever to do all this for you.
"Clark you didn't have to do all this." I looked down feeling my cheeks getting warm but he steps close to grabbing a hold of your waist causing you to look at his smiling face.
"I'd rather be here with you Y/n and this gives me the chance to finally see you in a dress for the for first time. You didn't think I was going to miss that did you?" You rolled your eyes than let out a gasp as he twirled you around the room.
"Whoa I didn't know the farm boy had moves."
"You can thank my dad for that."
"Oh I bet that was fun."
We both laugh it wasn't anything like the prom you imagined but it was close and it was comfortable I leaned on his chest feeling his warmth you could hear his heartbeat beating faster than usual
"Y/n?"
"Hm?"
"I hope this makes up for everything that I've done. I really didn't mean-" I put a finger to his lips stopping him and gave him a smile.
"Let's just have fun tonight Clark I really just wanna spent time with you." He smiles nodding grabbing your hand to land a kiss he stops to stare at you than leaned in a bit whoa whoa what's going on right now? Is he about to kiss me? Is my breath fresh? Are my lips chapped up enough oh no!
I closed my eyes but felt a kiss on my nose. I let out a sigh of relief which caused Clark to look at you confused.
"Sorry it looked like you didn't want me to kiss you...yet."
"So you kiss my nose?"
"You have a cute nose okay!"
"Well that's no fair!"
I stand in my toes to kiss his nose back which made him blush.
"There now we're even!"
"You are such a weirdo."
"Just shut up and dance with me."
"Yes my lady of the night."
"And don't you forget it farm boy."
we continue to dance to the music it was still raining outside but all that matter is that you were in the arms of the boy you cared about the most prom wasn't so bad after all.
Tumblr media

Clark: I need to keep my eyes on Bruce. Lana: Uuuh, what's happening? Clark: He's about to drop the hammer on Dick's new boyfriend. He's twice his age, and it's disgusting. Lana [Huffs]: Reminds me of a certain manager at the Cheesecake Factory that you dated. Clark: Ah, yes… He had a Camaro… and power. Lana: Ugh! He was nasty. You just did it to get a rise out of your father. Clark: Yeah, well, look how well that worked out. It didn't bother dad at all, and then I was stuck with a guy who smelled like potato skins and said "supposably."
Lana: You gotta admit, your dad played that pretty brilliantly. You know, after a few weeks, you got bored with him, and then you dumped him. Clark: …I did. I dumped him up real nice. [Runs to where Bruce is]. Bruce, Bruce, don't. Bruce: Excuse me? Clark: Dick's just dating that guy to get back at you for being so hard on him for the college thing. I did the same thing to my dad. Bruce: First of all, I'm not your dad. And do you think I'm just gonna let this happen? Clark: Just trust me on this. Bruce: I want to, but you're just so wrong about so many things. Dick: Hey, guys? So Kenny and I were thinking about going to this restaurant. Clark: Oh, sure. I don't have a problem with that. Do you, Bruce? Bruce: …No. Clark: In fact, it has been such a pleasure getting to know Kenny, it's our treat. Dick: Are you kidding? Clark [Nudges him]. Bruce: No. Clark: Give them your credit card, B. Dick: Also, uh, this restaurant is pretty far away, so we might be out late. Clark: Well, sweetheart, you are only young once. Dick: Hm… Oh, might even make sense to just stay in a hotel. Clark: That's okay. Put it on the plastic! Dick: Great! See you tomorrow! Clark: Buh-bye. [Phone rings] Kenny: Ugh. It's my ex-wife-- Not the good one. [While getting out of the house]. What do you want?! Bruce [He puts on his scarf and jacket]: Nice game of chicken, Clark. He's gone! Clark: He is coming back. I am almost positive. Bruce: Almost?! Why do I listen to you? Why? You were wrong about the iPod being a failure. You were wrong about tomato being a vegetable. I don't even want to talk about your favorite "planet", Pluto! And unless she was lying to the good ladies of "The view," it's "De-mi" Moore, not "Dem-mi"! [Walks out of the house and slams the door]. Dick [Comes through the kitchen door]: You were going to let me go with him?! Clark: Oh, isn't that what you wanted, honey? Dick: What's the matter with you?! You've been acting so weird ever since I left college! Clark: For the record, you didn't leave college. You were asked to leave. Dick: Oh, which you guys never let me forget, especially dad. Clark: Honey, your father-- Dick: You don't have to tell me what he thinks, okay? I'm a huge disappointment to him. I see it on his face every day. He acts as if he doesn't even want me around-- [Bruces comes back in the house, his back turned to where Dick is] Bruce: Give me the car keys right now. Clark: Um, Bruce… [Tries to point at Dick]. Bruce: No, I'm going after him! This little chicken game may work for you dad, but it doesn't work for me. That's my little boy. I need him to know that no person on or off earth is good enough for him, let alone some slimy, middle-aged jean salesman! [Dick runs and hugs Bruce tightly]. Bruce: …What's this? Clark: Just enjoy it.
