The funniest thing about House MD to me is that all the shippers are right. House and Wilson really are just Like That. I'm so used to big ships being completely noncanon or distant subtext at best. Not Hilson. They have a fake dating episode. In the episode where House mocks a gay man for being in denial, the multi-episode-long subplot is about him trying to break up Wilson's relationship because he's jealous and wants him to himself. Wilson, his best friend and person whom he lives with. This show is insane.

Psst. Hey, kid. Want to hear about another bronze equestrian sculpture?
This is The Angel of the City / L'angelo della citta (1948) by Marino Marini, installed at the entrance to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. The museum is housed in Guggenheim's former home, Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, which stands directly on the Grand Canal.
I love this thing. Its proportions. Its strangely bulky angular grace. The weirdly flat horizontal of the horse's top line mirroring the rider's outstretched arms and feet. Those hands that look like the sculptor just said 'meh. good enough.'
The fact they're both so... happy.
Tumblr media
So joyful. Or something.
What you might not know is this very important context: the original phallus was fully detachable and unscrewed like a lightbulb. For, uh, delicacy's sake...?
As Guggenheim wrote in her memoir:
“When the nuns came to be blessed by the Patriarch, who on special holy days, went by my house in a motorboat, I detached the phallus of the horseman and hid it in a drawer. I also did this on certain days when I had to receive stuffy visitors, but occasionally I forgot, and when confronted with this phallus found myself in great embarrassment. The only thing to do in such cases was to ignore it. In Venice a legend spread that I had several phalluses of different sizes, like spare parts, which I used on different occasions.”
― Peggy Guggenheim, Confessions of an Art Addict
ART.(TM)
Note, I said 'original phallus.' Sadly, it is alleged someone stole the original bronze cock at least once, and rumor has it that it happened so often the museum gave up and welded a permanent one in its place. This does, however, mean that theoretically at least one person out there owns a very particular piece of art history.

Damian: Is it true you are having a baby?
Bruce: Yes, you'll be a big brother in seven months.
Damian: Have you chosen a name for the child? If not, may I suggest Timothy?
Tim: Aw, you want the baby named after me?
Damian: No, I want a Timothy that is not a failure. This child will bring honor to the name. You shall henceforth be known as Nameless.
Bruce: Damian, you can not take away Tim's name. Besides your baby brother's name has already been decided. He will be Daniel Wayne.
Tim: I'll call him Danny for short.
Damian: Silence , Nameless, you will not disrespect my brother's honor with childish nicknames. Daniel is a powerful name, and he will be known as only thus.
Tim: Why am I still Nameless!? The baby is going to be Danny!
Damian: You know why.

“1950s horror movies contrast radically with their 1940s predecessors. understandably – they were reflecting a whole new world. audiences wanted stories that connected directly to their lives, to the ever-expanding technology in their homes and workplaces. they also wanted horror movies that played to their fears – stoked by politicians – of the shadows that lay beyond their immediate, personal experience of the shiny american dream (applies to some of these movies).”

people let their true colors shine through their consumption of media. case in point an adult man in a position of great power can rape his way through a numerous amount of serving girls in the castle he lives in and through the streets he frequently visits, but if he’s nice to exactly one member of the small folk due to said small folk member stroking his ego while he sits the throne suddenly *all* of his past evil actions are forgiven and he would ‘make a great king.’ in the same breath these people will cut to a moment twenty years in the woman claimant’s past where she stated, “their wants are of no consequence,” after stumbling upon a play that blatantly makes fun of her for being born a woman and being a girl heir, which in turn upsets her because it’s an insecurity she’s dealt with her entire life, something she’s never been able to forget. SHE isn’t forgiven, instead it’s used as a way to say she wouldn’t make a good queen and has no care at all for the small folk (she is the only royal family member attempting to keep the realm united as of right now).

also also this may just be in my head but there was a moment when Alicent realized it was Rhaenyra in disguise and she was right back to her younger self exasperated by Nyra's sheer dumbassery and bullheadedness. it was the quickest exchange and it was SO GOOD.
