My twin and I played Sonic Adventure 2: Battle so much, we burnt through two separate Gamecube copies of the game. We used to leave it on overnight to age up our Chao. I actually wrote my college entry paper on that game. Needless to say, my twin and I are seeing Sonic 3 tonight.

Less than an hour after I came out to my twin, he cut me off mid-sentence while discussing Star Wars to shout, “Silence, woman! A man is talking!”

So yeah. The shitposting is genetic, the only thing that prevents my twin from being a god-tier Trans shitposter is the fact that he is tragically a Cisgendered catboy.

I love my Twin. He’s always been a part of my life through thick and thin, and literally (and I use that word intentionally) saved my life once.

Honorable mention to Skyrim as well. I installed a Mod in my PC version that let me access a cave with custom items. One of them was a ring that changed your main character's sex. I would make a new file, head immediately to the cave, and then get the ring and wear it for the remainder of the game.

This led to a fascinating experience wherein I found a letter that an NPC was carrying that referred to me with female pronouns. I re-read that note a few dozen times. It made me feel something.

Anyways. I cracked 5 years later.

Before I realized I was Trans, I had this intense...longing for a life I felt I couldn't have. And eventually that somber sonder crystalized into a nugget of self-loathing, and this idea that the reason I wasn't allowed to be a girl was because I was being 'punished' somehow.

Absolutely nobody deserves to hate themselves. Relearning self-love is hard, and I know so many Trans people who are working on it. And it's important to keep working on it. You are worthy of love.

As an egg, I once prayed to god to make me a girl. Just for a day, “to know what it was like.” I try to be compassionate towards myself for all those little egg things— poor girl was going through it. But it’s hard not to get frustrated with myself sometimes regardless for all the obvious, unheeded signs.
