summary: the teasing between you and your best friend gets taken a bit too far
tags: smut (minors dni!), best friends!au, non-idol!au warnings: sexual content, grinding, boob sucking wc: 1.9k an: this man is SO FINE why aren’t more people obsessed with him
You and Seungkwan are sitting, listening to K-Pop, as two besties do, when Seungkwan suddenly starts to speak. “You know, I kind of think this album was a bit over hyped.”
“What?!” You screech, jumping to your feet. You’re in utter disbelief that your best friend would just insult your favorite album like that. “Take that back right now Boo Seungkwan!”
“You’re just mad I’m telling the truth,” Seungkwan scoffs.
“It wasn’t over-hyped! It was one of the best albums of the year. You’re just mad that your favorite album didn’t even make it on the charts.” You know it’s a low blow, but Seungkwan 100% started the fight.
“That’s not fair!” Seungkwan shouts, jumping to his feet as well. “They’re a new group!”
“They debuted two years ago! Plenty of groups have charted even within the first few months of debuting.”
You’re used to getting into petty fights with your best friend over everything and anything. Which shirt looks better on him, what kind of coffee is best, if his face looks puffy or not. So you know all of the right arguments to make and buttons to push.
“Just admit that the album wasn’t their best work,” Seungkwan gets in your face.
“I will when you finally admit that their whole discography is some of the best work in the K-Pop industry.” You step closer to him, pressing your chest up against his.
“Yeah right. They’re good, but not the best. You’re just delusional.”
“And you can’t admit you’re wrong.”
“Like you’re right?”
“I always am, aren’t I?” You smirk and Seungkwan rolls his eyes so hard you’re afraid they’re going to pop out of their sockets. He gets you’re just teasing him at this point.
“I’m the reason you listen to K-Pop in the first place.”
“Yet, I still have better opinions than you.”
“You’re literally insane. You’re obsessed with being right and you wouldn't know good music opinions if they smacked you in the face.”
If you were talking to anyone other than Seungkwan, you might have gotten offended, but this is Seungkwan, you know he’s just hot headed and doesn’t mean it. Instead you just smirk at him.
“Ooh you wanna kiss me so bad,” you say in a teasing tone.
Seungkwan scoffs and finally pulls back a bit. It’s not uncommon for either of you to pull a line like that out. “Oh, shut up.”
Normally neither of you would be bothered by it, but you want to push Seungkwan a bit more. “What? Too scared?”
“To what? Kiss you? Please, I'd be doing you a favor.”
“Yeah?” You lean in towards Seungkwan.
“Yeah.” Seungkwan leans in closer.
“Then do it, chicken.”
There’s always been a sort of…tension between you and your best friend. Always toeing the line of being something more than just best friends. Years of built up arguments and hot-headedness; Chan once described it as “sexual tension so thick it suffocated him”. Neither of you talk about it, but it’s always a bit apparent.
Seungkwan leans in closer, you do the same. You can feel his breath against your face as you two are only a few inches apart. Your throat is tight as you hear the thud of your heart rapidly pounding against your chest.
“Still have time to back out,” you say in a low voice, doing your best to ignore your own reaction to Seungkwan being so close.
“No way,” Seungkwan responds, pressing your noses up against each other. Your lips are basically brushing, just mere millimeters apart.
“C’mon Seungkwan, don’t be a pussy.”
That’s all it takes for Seungkwan to close the gap, pulling your body against his as he captures your lips. The kiss is harsh and Seungkwan’s pressing a bit too hard, but you don’t pull away, grabbing onto him too.
He tastes like a mix of the americano he was sipping on earlier and the slice of cake you two shared for lunch. The bittersweet taste lingers on his lips and you do your best to lap it all up, taking in as much of Seungkwan as you can.
His skin feels soft under your fingertips and as you grip his face, squeezing his cheeks so you can pull him closer to you. Realistically you know you don’t have to be holding him so tightly, frantic to burn this moment in your memory like it will completely disappear if you two pull apart. You’re not thinking realistically though. All you’re thinking about is Seungkwan and Seungkwan kissing you and Seungkwan’s hands on your waist and Seungkwan’s fresh scent in your nostrils and Seungkwan’s tongue swiping over your lips and Seungkwan, Seungkwan, Seungkwan. You want more of him, despite already having all of him.
You don’t feel too bad about wanting Seungkwan so desperately though, because he seems to be in the same boat. His fingers dig into your shirt, gripping the fabric so tightly it pulls taught against your stomach. His body is practically shaking in your grip as he presses against you harder and harder, his tongue licking into your mouth to taste you better. You can hear the soft mewling noises he makes when you suck on his tongue.
This has been a long time coming and you two put all your years of pent up feelings into the kiss. You barely take a break for air, panting into each other’s mouths for a few seconds before diving right back in. Your hands have moved into Seungkwan’s hair, fisting the soft strands between your fingers. Seungkwan’s hands have been rubbing up and down your torso for a few minutes now and it sends a warm thrill through your body.
You feel Seungkwan tug at your waist as he walks backwards, falling onto the couch when it hits the back of his knees. He pulls you down with him, tumbling onto his lap. He helps you get situated in his lap, positioning you so you’re straddling his thighs, your core placed right over his crotch. You can feel the bulge of Seungkwan’s cock pressing up against his shorts and you’re glad that you’re not the only one whose gotten worked up from the kissing, your panties drenched from your arousal.
“Kwannie,” you whine out, soft and needy. You roll your hips experimentally, slow and teasing, and you relish in the gasp that Seungkwan lets out, his fingers digging into your thighs.
He throws his head back a bit, panting his breaths out. “Fuck, do that again.”
You do, dragging your clothed cunt over his lap, grinding against his confined cock. You can feel the pressure against your clit, sending thrums of pleasure through your body. You repeat the motion, over and over again against Seungkwan’s lap, pleasuring both you and him.
Seungkwan has now buried his face in your chest, kissing at your exposed cleavage. Your mind has quickly fogged with lust as you ball the back of Seungkwan’s shirt up in your fists. Your body feels so fucking good right now, but you need more. Reluctantly you pull back from Seungkwan, climbing out of his lap.
Your best friend whines at you, sending you a confused look. You don’t answer, just start to shed your pants, pushing them off your hips and down your legs. Seungkwan’s eyes light up when he sees you doing this and he does the same, quickly kicking his shorts off onto the floor. You lick your lips at the sight of strong, thick, pale thighs on display for you and you think about how you wouldn’t mind your head being crushed by them. You can’t think about that just yet though.
You tug your shirt over your head as well, leaving you in just your bra and panties. When you climb back onto Seungkwan’s lap you lift his shirt over his head as well, discarding it with the rest of your clothes.
With two layers gone now, you can feel the definition of Seungkwan’s cock much better now against your folds. Your panties are drenched by now and leave little to no barrier of your cunt against Seungkwan’s boxers. You’re sure you’re getting his own underwear wet as well, your slick seeping through his boxers and rubbing up against his length.
With both of your shirts off now, you can feel the heat coming off of Seungkwan’s body. Your bare skin feels nice pressed up against his, giving you another layer of closeness to your best friend. Seungkwan’s fingers trace circles against your hip as you speed up your hips.
“Y/N,” Seungkwan mumbles against your ear and you pull back to look at his face. His eyes are droopy with desire and his lips are plump from all of the kissing. You’ve mussed up his hair from burying your fingers in it and you can’t help but grin at just how fine he looks right now.
“Kwannie?”
His fingers move up your back and flick at the clasp of your bra. “Can I please…?”
You nod and it takes barely a second before your bra is on the floor as well, your tits bare to the room. He paws at them, squeezing them and tugging at your nipples and you arch your back into his touch. You lean back and brace your hands on his knees, grinding down harder when you feel his lips wrap around one of the buds, sucking it into his mouth.
Your body is desperate to cum now, your limbs trembling as you struggle to remember to breathe. Seungkwan’s body is pushed forwards with his arms wrapped tight around your waist as he continues to attack your chest with his mouth.
You can feel that you’re so close, your body starting to tensen up. You can feel Seungkwan’s hips thrusting up to meet your grinds, his hard cock knocking against your clit over and over again. Under you, Seungkwan is a mess, panting and whimpering as his fingers bruise your sides with how hard he’s gripping you. His mouth has gotten sloppy, his mind too fuzzy to put his complete focus into sucking your tits.
Your whole body feels on fire and the only way to extinguish it is to get your release. You’re not sure your legs can keep doing this for much longer though. Your cunt is clenching around nothing, desperate to cum. Just when you feel like you’re about to die from how pent up you are, your orgasm hits you like a train. Your legs shake as you cling onto Seungkwan, your head falling against his shoulder.
Seungkwan thrusts his hips up against you, before he’s shaking too, painting the inside of his boxers white with his release. You pull your head away from Seungkwan’s shoulder, bringing your lips to his once more. Your two kiss messily, all wet and warm and sloppy as you two come down from your highs. Your body is satiated for now and when you pull away from Seungkwan he looks content as well, a pretty post orgasm glow illuminating his face.
“I think we needed that,” you finally break the silence. Seungkwan laughs. With his arms still around your waist, he rolls over so he’s laying on the couch, your body tucked into his side. You snuggle even closer, burying your head into his neck.
“Should we talk about it?” Seungkwan asks after a couple moments of silence.
You snort. “Yeah probably. Let’s take a nap first.”
“Yeah okay,” Seungkwan agrees, wrapping his arms around you tighter, content to work things out later.

You might have already mentioned it, but what songs did Gojo sing as a kid with that band, the Band Aides? Cause I'm really curious what teen Gojo screamed into the microphone and what people thought of this crazy punk kid with super great music. Also, will the Scrub fans ever unearth a video someone probably took of little Gojo coasting around random alt-rock venues? Cause that would be hilarious.
We're actually going to get into it in future chapters!! 😁
He 100% plays Mr Brightside and basically he starts getting into the whole plagiarizing music thing by realizing that a lot of the bands he loved are either a) entirely missing from the timeline or b) missing some of his favorite songs from them and sets out to fix that.
The full backstory:
I don't really get into Band Aides much, but basically it was a garage band put together by Satoru, this high school first year, and his college freshman brother, and idk, maybe one other person haven't figured it out yet. But they play in the brothers' garage and their dad was in a band back in the states which is why he has all this random old equipment in his garage and also an undying love for classic rock music.
So they start out playing a lot of songs that Satoru does know - famous stuff from like before 1990 basically - and at first he's just jamming and having a good time actually realizing that he likes playing all the music he used to listen to in his last life, and just figuring out how music even works. The dad is super helpful in this since he was a musician in a band himself and can at least teach Satoru the basics of guitar, sound engineering, and all the technical stuff. They're still not great or anything, being a bunch of kids and all, and Satoru himself is still going from 0 to 100 learning about instruments and music theory.
Anyway, then he hears an 'album' from The Killers, realizes they only put out one album in this world and it was not Hot Fuss, and immediately sets out to try to re-create Mr Brightside for his band to play.
Because of the way this happens > him 'learning' about bands and music, then coming immediately after with songs resembling the bands he'd just listened to, it feels really organic to his band and the people who knew him at the time. Like yeah of course he made a song that sounds like The Killers after listening to their album, that's literally how all music is made. You get influenced and inspired by something and then create your own version. It's just in this instance, Satoru wasn't 'creating his own version' he was literally adding to their originally discography.
Eventually he stops playing songs that come from bands with missing discography and starts playing songs from ones that he realizes don't exist at all, but there's still enough of a trajectory that it still seems 'plausible'.
So, tbh, people who don't 'know' music think he's just a cool punk who makes epic songs. People who do know all those old genres and bands are like 'damn this kid has great taste' and also thinks he makes epic songs that really pay homage to that era.
I'm kinda torn on what The Band Aides would play on open mic nights actually.
Realistically they would mostly play cover songs bc even if Satoru wanted to be getting them to play 'his' songs, he wouldn't be at a point where he could properly articulate what he wanted it to even sound like. But I also want to sneak a bunch of Blink-182 songs into their tracks haha. And probably All Time Low too? All American Rejects??
Honestly they can play whatever you want them too, since I probably won't get into it beyond Mr Brightside! And yeah that would be so fun to have clips of lil' baby Satoru rocking out at like a talent show or something lmao

Making her great return to the Waterbomb stage, Baebi gave a show stopping performance and drew in one of the largest crowds on Friday! Despite having one of the most viral performances, fans were confused why she didn't perform a single track off her latest solo release: PULL THE TRIGGER (AGAIN). Despite the debatable tracklist, Constellations were elated to see their "Waterbomb Princess" back on the stage!
.゚۪ ♡ ۫ ( LOOK BOOK ! )
.゚۪ ♡ ۫ SET LIST !
GASHINA
OPENING MENT
DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY
TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN
PICTURE
LIPLOCK
ENDING MET
BUBBLE POP!
.゚۪ ♡ ۫ THE HOT RUNDOWN !
Oh, she was the talk of the town. You could not go online without seeing Baebi at Waterbomb 2024!
The setlist was a hot topic, truly. A lot of fans liked that it was a throwback, but also...They were just confused as to why she wasn't singing new stuff. At first, they thought maybe she didn't have the rights to the album since it was released under Flowerbank, but that just wasn't the case, as Mydol owns all of Venus' discography. So, like...What gives? Where's Baebi's Revenge? Where's You and Me? Where's—
Then the behind the scenes vlog came out and it all made sense. When I tell y'all, Son Jinhwa curated this entire performance from start to finish...I mean it. Down to the last second, it was his vision. He was barely even seen in Chloe's behind-the-scenes vlog, but you could see that man in almost every frame of Yoonah's. To the shock of no one, he picked out her outfit as well and even had the makeup artist redo her makeup before the show because he didn't like what she originally did.
So, yeah, no wonder there were no songs from the album where Yoonah had complete creative control and basically told him to kill himself. Yeah, Constellations did not like that realization. It got even worse when it was revealed Chloe got full creative control over her performance while Yoonah didn't.
But, despite all that, Yoonah had fun! And that's all that matters! She smiled the whole time, did amazing crowd work, danced like it was the last thing she was going to do, and kept her goodies from falling out the whole performance! She did great, guys!
BAEBI OPENING MENT TRANSCRIPTION: "What's up, Waterbomb? I'm your Baebi! Ah! I can't believe I'm back here! Oh my gosh! I missed you guys! Did you miss me?" Yoonah playfully leans toward the crowd and then laughs. "Sounds like it...I'm so happy to be here with all of you and to be wet with you guys! I hope you all enjoy this next song. It's been years since I've performed it, but I really like it, so...Get ready to–Okay, this joke won't really land because the sun is out, but–Get ready to dance the night away!"
After her performance, Baebi and the other Venus girls were spotted in the crowd for Fromis_9's set as well as Hyo's set! The girls are massive Girls Generation's stans and never miss a chance to see the members perform.
You could really tell Yoonah had a blast performing. She really loves her job, guys!
#BAEBIWATERBOMB would trend, and a fan cam of her set would reach 3.4 Million views in 24 hours. A massive hit with everyone! But that's nothing new for Miss Baebi!

lawlight, told through taylor swift songs: a non-exhaustive list
no really, why do so many taylor swift songs fit Death Note (and sometimes especially Light and lawlight) so perfectly?
many others have already made pretty good posts on this topic before, but the parallels are truly kinda crazy, so here's my take on it. the rankings within each tier are not super fixed or meaningful, like honestly everything within each tier is pretty much the same degree of fitting to me.
(yes, I double-checked basically her entire discography for this. no, I still don't think this is a fully comprehensive list.)
Tier S - every single line is a fit
1. my tears ricochet (<- category C: "I Knew You'd Miss Me Once The Thrill Expired")
post L's death lawlight, from L's perspective: the song. nearly every line fits what the hell man. one of my favourites here
-> Full Lyrics
2. hoax (<- category C: "I Knew You'd Miss Me Once The Thrill Expired")
@kiyomitakada pointed this out and... yeah, every single line does fit! it's very lawlight from Light's perspective.
-> Full Lyrics
Tier A - the whole song fits well
3. Blank Space (<- category A: "Let the Games Begin")
we probably all know this one lol. while the idea that it was actually written as inspired by DN is a myth, it very much does fit.
-> Full Lyrics
and GOD did the MV imagery not help. like, I mean...
the MV uses a colour scheme of red/blue/black/white/green-ish, I think, which doesn't NOT look like the first OP of Death Note anime to say the least.
apple imagery. yeah. the above is literally something Light does in said OP. both song videos have close-up shot of biting a very red apple.
the character Taylor Swift plays in this video (who is supposed to be a satirical caricature based on media perception of her as a crazy obsessive jealous 'serial dater' women iirc) is depicted doing a lot of voodoo to torture her lover.
in one scene she seems to be in a great and dramatic frenzy with mixed emotions (sadness, desperation, manic, anger, hate, etc.) over the boyfriend character's... unconscious body? I'm not super sure if it's supposed to be unconscious. but it's like this:
and then after a while of this, we see a shot of her sneakily winking at the camera. but anyway so yeah this entire part weirdly actually reminded me of L's death scene for some reason lol
at the end of the MV there's a short B-T-S trivia clip. there's a freaking black notebook there:
it's titled "My True Loves" and the content has nothing to do with lawlight, because it just contains pictures of her cats... is what I'd say, but actually, if you stretch it a bit, there's a comparison to be made about the fact that J-Drama Light Yagami's actor is a cat lover who actually has a cat named L
anyway this isn't exactly a T-pose but it's not too far from one either
I think I've made my point.
4. Getaway Car (<- category B: ''Now This is An Open/Shut Case")
this is very the end of the Yotsuba arc to me, specifically from while they are catching Higuchi to after they catch him and Light regains his memories. man...
-> Full Lyrics
Tier B - largely/mostly fitting
category A: "Let the Games Begin"
the mind games begin.
1. Ready For It
Knew he was a killer first time that I saw him Wondered how many girls he had loved and left haunted But if he's a ghost, then I can be a phantom Holdin' him for ransom, some Some boys are tryin' too hard, he don't try at all though Younger than my exes, but he act like such a man, so I see nothing better, I keep him forever Like a vendetta-ta
and
Knew I was a robber first time that he saw me Stealing hearts and running off and never sayin' sorry But if I'm a thief, then he can join the heist, and We'll move to an island, and And he can be my jailer, Burton to this Taylor Every love I've known in comparison is a failure I forget their names now, I'm so very tame now Never be the same now, now
+ the repetition of "Let the games begin". pretty self-explanatory
2. LWYMMD
I've got a list of names and yours is in red, underlined I check it once, then I check it twice, oh!
...and more. also you know how she T-poses at the end of the bridge in the MV, as she stands over many many other past version of herself?
very lightcore pose. (and this isn't even to mention how she kicks off other, "weaker" versions of herself off the giant T in the same scene, which is... arguably also a symbolic parallel to when Light screams in the helicopter as he regains his memory, if you see it that way.)
3. cowboy like me
And the tennis court was covered up With some tent-like thing And you asked me to dance But I said, "Dancin' is a dangerous game."
Oh, I thought This is gonna be one of those things Now I know I'm never gonna love again
I've got some tricks up my sleeve Takes one to know one You're a cowboy like me
this one even has the freaking tennis mention of all things it could've included
4. Mastermind
So I told you none of it was accidental And the first night that you saw me, nothing was gonna stop me I laid the groundwork and then saw a wide smirk On your face, you knew the entire time You knew that I'm a mastermind And now you're mine Yeah, all you did was smile 'Cause I'm a mastermind
honestly though, this one is more like the perfect Kaguya-sama Love is War Kaguya/Miyuki song. every single line fits them perfectly. but since lawlight also do mind games and all, the song also can be seen through a lawlight lens, although I maintain that it is still the perfect kaguprez song instead of a fully lawlight one.
5. Suburban Legends
I had the fantasy that maybe our mismatched star signs Would surprise the whole school When I ended up back at our class reunion Walking in with you You'd be more than a chapter in my old diaries With the pages ripped out I am standing in a 1950s gymnasium And I can still see you now
I didn't come here to make friends We were born to be suburban legends When you hold me, it holds me together And you kiss me in a way that's gonna screw me up forever
I know that you still remember We were born to be national treasures When you told me we'd get back together And you kissed me in a way that's gonna screw me up forever
idk the vibes here kind of make me think of the entrance ceremony scene lol
category B: ''Now This is An Open/Shut Case"
the Kira investigation.
1. I Can See You
I can see you in your suit and your necktie Passed me a note saying, "Meet me tonight" Then we kissed and you know I won't ever tell, yeah And I could see you being my addiction You can see me as a secret mission Hide away and I will start behaving myself
the MV is important context here again, because actually, the official video for this love song depicts one person watching/"seeing" another person through - guess what - surveillance cameras. in reference to the title which is also a line repeated in the chorus. so that explains it I think. also it's implied to be about a workplace relationship
2. I Think He Knows
He got that boyish look that I like in a man I am an architect, I'm drawing up the plans It's like I'm 17, nobody understands No one understands
[...]
He got that boyish look that I like in a man I am an architect, I'm drawing up the plans He's so obsessed with me and, boy, I understand Boy, I understand
Light's pov. the title line "I think he knows" keeps getting repeated in the song which if you view it through a lawlight lens that might be about Kira lol
3. willow
Now this is an open/shut case I guess I should've known from the look on your face Every bait-and-switch was a work of art
The more that you say, the less I know Wherever you stray, I follow I'm begging for you to take my hand Wreck my plans, that's my man You know that my train could take you home Anywhere else is hollow I'm begging for you to take my hand Wreck my plans, that's my man
L pov-ish.
4. The Tortured Poets Department
You're in self-sabotage mode, throwing spikes down on the road But I've seen this episode and still loved the show Who else decodes you?
And who's gonna hold you like me? And who's gonna know you, if not me?
and also:
Everyone we know understands why it's meant to be 'Cause we're crazy So tell me Who else is gonna know me?
...as well as more lines in the song that expresses the same sentiments, like: Who's gonna hold you? Gonna know you? Gonna troll you?
in any case, "who else decodes you?" is definitely a lawlight thesis. imo. in fact I may have even actually started an essay on it in fic format with that thesis. or not? who knows! maybe one day you'll see...
anyway, this song is post-Yotsuba arc-ish to me, sort of.
category C: "I Knew You'd Miss Me Once The Thrill Expired"
L's death and Light's grieving, eventually.
5. Haunted
from Light's pov, especially in anime canon probably.
12. My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys
My boy only breaks his favorite toys, toys, oh I'm queen of sand castles he destroys, oh, oh 'Cause it fit too right Puzzle pieces in the dead of night I should've known it was a matter of time Oh, oh, my boy only breaks his favorite toys, oh, oh-oh-oh
[...]
My boy only breaks his favorite toys, toys, oh I'm queen of sand castles he destroys, oh, oh 'Cause I knew too much There was danger in the heat of my touch He saw forever so he smashed it up Oh, oh, my boy only breaks his favorite toys, oh, oh-oh-oh
which is quite fitting. moreover, there's this...
He was my best friend Down at the sandlot I felt more when we played pretend Than with all the Kens
...as well as the the original version below:
He was my best friend and that was the worst part I felt more then, in brief moments Than with all the Kens
L's pov. the "Kens" mention here is kinda like Light apparently having like 6 girlfriends in college and not caring about any of them despite being significantly bad at getting over L etc etc I think
8. Hits Different
I actually didn't think of this song in association with lawlight at all before I saw @selfdigestion bringing up the connection, and.... YEAH this is pretty lawlight-coded as well
I trace the evidence, make it make some sense Why the wound is still bleedin' You were the one that I loved Don't need another metaphor, it's simple enough A wrinkle in time like the crease by your eyes This is why they shouldn't kill off the main guy Dreams of your hair and your stare and sense of belief In the good in the world, you once believed in me And I felt you and I held you for a while Bet I could still melt your world Argumentative, antithetical dream girl
and also:
I used to switch out these Kens, I'd just ghost Rip the band-aid off and skip town like an asshole outlaw Freedom felt like summer then on the coast Now the sun burns my heart and the sand hurts my feelings
which is what the song is overall about. (there sure are a lot of Light pov songs in this category man)
and on the topic of "Kens", as it is with the previous time song, in Light's case it makes me again think of all his college girlfriends that he doesn't care about. I'm not going to comment too much on the gender-reverse implications this has for the narrator "I" in the song, but I would think that the original lyrics "bet I could still melt your world / argumentative, antithetical dream girl" with echoing repetitions on the phrase "dream girl" should've already done it for me. anyway. moving on.
10. Would've, Could've, Should've
If you never touched me I would've Gone along with the righteous If I never blushed then they could've Never whispered about this And if you never saved me from boredom I could've gone on as I was
[...]
God rest my soul I miss who I used to be The tomb won't close Stained glass windows in my mind I regret you all the time I can't let this go I fight with you in my sleep The wound won't close I keep on waiting for a sign I regret you all the time
I don't know how to explain this one, but it's... something. I think it only makes more sense as a lawlight song if you want to place emphasis on the age/maturity difference angle, although even without that it would still partly fit.
17. Guilty as Sin?
My boredom's bone-deep This cage was once just fine Am I allowed to cry?
I dream of cracking locks Throwing my life to the wolves or the ocean rocks Crashing into him tonight, he's a paradox I'm seeing visions, am I bad? Or mad? Or wise?
This, plus the fact that it uses similar imagery (dying in a hedge maze, crashing over graves, etc.) as Saltburn (2023), which... has that infamous grave scene that reminded every Death Note fan watching it of Light Yagami on L's grave.
13. cardigan
A friend to all is a friend to none Chase two girls, lose the one When you are young, they assume you know nothing
[...]
But I knew you'd linger like a tattoo kiss I knew you'd haunt all of my what-ifs The smell of smoke would hang around this long 'Cause I knew everything when I was young I knew I'd curse you for the longest time Chasing shadows in the grocery line I knew you'd miss me once the thrill expired And you'd be standing in my front porch light And I knew you'd come back to me You'd come back to me And you'd come back to me And you'd come back
yet another post-L's death lawlight song, this time with L+Light switching povs. with the final line I think of the anime scene when Light sees a vision/ghost/whatever it is of L on the stairs:
And when I felt like I was an old cardigan under someone's bed You put me on and said I was your favorite
Tier D - honourable mentions
The Prophecy
I got cursed like Eve got bitten Oh, was it punishment?
lightcoreTM
False God
self-explanatory title
You Are In Love
You kiss on sidewalks, you fight then you talk One night, he wakes, strange look on his face Pauses, then says, "You're my best friend" And you knew what it was, he is in love
Mr. Perfectly Fine
So dignified in your well-pressed suit So strategized, all the eyes on you Sashay away to your seat It's the best seat, in the best room Oh, he's so smug, Mr. "Always wins" So far above me in every sense So far above feeling anything
lightcore #2
You're Losing Me
doesn't fit that well lyric-wise, but it sure has got a heartbeat sound effect (sampled with her own I believe) in it referencing the stopping of a heart that sounds a lot like the one used to signal cardiac arrest in Death Note anime.
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
Were you sent by someone Who wanted me dead? Did you sleep with a gun underneath our bed? Were you writing a book? Were you a sleeper cell spy? In fifty years will all this be declassified? And you'll confess why you did it And I'll say, "Good riddance" 'Cause it wasn't sexy once it wasn't forbidden I would've died for your sins Instead I just died inside And you deserve prison, but you won't get time You'll slide into inboxes and slip through the bars You crashed my party and your rental car You said normal girls were "boring" But you were gone by the morning You kicked out the stage lights, but you're still performing And in plain sight you hid But you are what you did And I'll forget you, but I'll never forgive The smallest man who ever lived
lightcore #3
Anti-Hero
I'll stare directly at the sun, but never in the mirror
lightcore #4
Clara Bow
"The crown is stained, but you're the real queen Flesh and blood amongst war machines You're the new God we're worshipping Promise to be dazzling"
there is a joke I can make here about how "dazzling" is "kira-kira" in Japanese
lightcore #5
(man that's a lot of lightcore songs)
Other songs
...that grieve the loss of a lover,
or mentions a lover being a friend/not a friend;
songs with ghost/death/grave/tomb/cemetery imagery,
songs where the self or the lover is compared to God or a god,
songs that mention a difference in age or has the lover looking down on the narrator's maturity (e.g. illicit affairs, All Too Well),
songs where love is characterized as a game of cat and mouse;
and so on.
taylor swift seems to write about those motifs a lot, so there really are a lot of other examples to pull.
and that concludes my list, I think. there may actually be even more comparisons if you look into her album liner notes and such, but this is what I've got for now
#whew it's a long post#I spent a lot of time on it honestly. both listening and searching through her discography. and compiling and formatting this post#so I do hope this has been of interest to you lol#death note#light yagami#lawlight#l lawliet#i (ai)#analysis#...? tangentially. maybe.

Heart mind soul chonny jash. I made this for @twig-gy but literally this is just a ramble and anyone can read it if you want I guess. I wrote this while listening to And if I Did you deserved it by will wood on loop
OKAY SO. they're. They mean a lot to me okag
So umm,m (sorry if this sounds kind of weird I'm still new to the whole Real People Fandom thing) and also sorry if this sounds awkward that's because it is. I've been into chonny jash for nearly a year and I only found out about the fandom just now I have no idea how to introduce myself. Hello!! I'm Leafy! This is going to be very awkward as I try to fumble over my ideas.
Ahem. Without further ado.
I kind of. This is complicated but I kind of see them as a sort of system. Like not a "system" but like,, like parts of . BAHAHAHA like parts of a whole. They're part of each other in the same way a broken plate. The plate was one thing and now it's like 4 different things.
You can tell this especially from the line at the end of tse that goes "see how the brain plays around and it splits what once was whole down into three". Clear as day. Clear as day to me at leasg and hopefully to you. That's one of the parts that stands out to me most in tse though the entire thing is a spectacle I quite enjoy it
They're a broken plate. Okay do you understand. Great moving on
Theyre parts of a whole. Like. I'm just gonna call them a system even though that's not what they are but that's how I'm going to explain it
So. Clearly they're dysfunctional, at least a little bit. They're not functional. They are unfunctional like a broken ferris wheel and like a broken ferris wheel it is Hard to Work With
Yeah yk what I'm just. Gonna use system terminology. Easier for me. They're not a system!!! But they could be. But they're not!! Yet. !!!!
So. Soul. Right. Soul. You know Soul. Heart and Mind as well. You know Heart and Mind. They're Heart and Mind. And Soul. Theyr're.
Oh boy. This is going to sound deranged. If it doesn't already.
Okay now USUALLY I'm not big on insys relationships. But that's also just me. I'm perfectly confident if we formed a Pin I would be proposing within the week. That's not important.
Heart and Mind feel like the kind of relationship that you need to Understand Them Individually before you can put them together. But we already do that and I'. Can't do analysis right now so we're gonna skip that part. And Soul is basically the "I will turn this fucking car around I swear to god" of the system. "System". You know what I mean. He's sick of their shit and you can tell.
I think. THINK. think I just think I have not heard 100% of chonny's discography I cannot confirm nor deny this this is just a theory based on the 6 or so hms songs I've heard.
Mind almost feels. Abusive? Not really. He's teetering on the edge. He's like aaaalmost. But you can really tell he cares deep down for Heart. Especially in tme. You can hear in the lyrics. Some of them are degrading heart obviously ("saddened and weak, freakish and dismal, hollow and bleak," and you know. The entire song.) But if you read some of the other lines you can tell he just cares about the system as a whole (pun.) And he wants to keep them all safe. "I can't claim that I enjoy this, covering for a tortured boy..." this almost feels like. Masking.. like some of ours have jobs that are just to mask. Taco for example. Mike especially last year. Mind has to act sane and keep an eye out for threats. He's the protector. But he verbally bullies Heart and almost even physically. It comes down to an almost toxic relationship between the two.
Heart on the other hand is just sad and scared, almost, of Mind. He's the emotion holder. Obviously. Unfortunately for many emotion holders such as myself this means he's prone to self pity and depression. You can tell this even by barely grazing the lyrics of tha. Even in variations on a cloud, a song that's supposed to be more happy sounding (yes i know it's about 9/11 shush) he sounds kind of. Upset? But that's typical. I guess. For someone like Heart. But if you look deeper he seems to be fine with this. Fine ish. Fine enough. He hides from the sun but he doesn't seem to be doing any better or worse. He's blind. The sun is referred to as "blinding to the eye" in the second verse of tha. But Mind knows this. He references it in his own song. "It seems those beams of light have caused some glare." He noticed. HE NOTICED. do you see where I'm going with this.
Yes.
Mind claims not to care about Heart, but he obviously does at least a little bit. He heard, or even knows about, Heart's song and references one of the lyrics in his own. Sure the music could just be theatrical. But it doesn't change the fact that he noticed Heart's emotions and troubles.
Pardon me for drawing parallels to my own brain once again but I kind of see a resemblance between these guys and my own guys. Namely evie and firey. They HATE each other so much to the point of actual catfights in the back of the head space. Embarrassing! But here's the thing. They couldn't live without each other. Evie needs a place to put all that so so so much anger, and firey needs something to do that doesn't involve hurting me or the body in some way. It balances out. They help each other by keeping each other occupied. Without them we'd all be in danger, them most of all. I myself draw parallels to Soul while listening to cccc!! "Evie and Firey dtop fighting or else I will turn this car around."
Speaking of which...
Soul. Soul, am I right?
"I will turn this fucking car around."
Soul.
Soul is clearly what I like to call the "scarecrow" of the system. His job is to watch Heart and Mind and make sure they don't fucking slaughter each other. (I mean fuck*... they literally SHOT each other at one point.) Soul watches the two and basically threatens them into shutting up at the end of tse. ("I'll take you down in tandem when this rope is tied..." Did bro just threaten suicide!? Even I wouldn't go that far just for "Shut The Fuck Up Evie And Firey I Swear To God"... bro is desperate) I'm sure he cares about them both in his own Special Way.
(* I did not mean "I mean fuck" as in the correction way (I.e "so that they don't slaughter I mean fuck each other".) However, this also works if you choose to believe it.)
In fact you can kind of tell in tse that he does care. Even if his caring is just "shut the fuck up both of you," he's not apathetic or unnoticing to them. He just doesn't like them. Bad care is still a form of care.
In variations on a cloud (yes hello we're back to this) Soul and Heart share a lot of lines. Mind is pretty quiet in this song, which is a nice change from. Yknow. Every other song he's present in. He only has a few lines. But in those few lines, he's almost always harmonizing with Soul and Heart. Those two are the real focus of the song.
Holy shit it's 2am I've been writing for over half an hour. Anyway!
Soul cares about Heart a lot. But maybe it's the wrong kind of care. Once again; he will turn this car around. Heart doesn't like Mind, but Mind likes Heart, and Soul also likes Heart. Where does this leave us? Nowhere. Which is where this car is going if Heart and Mind don't stop hatefucking in the back seat.
Where was I going with this?
Oh yes. Soul is as toxic as Mind. Maybe more so.
Soul seems to be the guy who cares about himself. If you listen to tse again (I know you want to) you can tell most of the lyrics are basically about him, and how tired he is of the other two. He doesn't really care about their or whole's well-being, he just wants them both to shut up so he can enjoy himself. Which makes sense! I'd be in his position too if I didn't care about pyrite!!
Uhh... I actually think I have nothing else to add... maybe I'll come back in the morning when my brain isn't a jumbled mess. I should have been asleep hours ago. There was a point to this all I swear!!!!!
Enjoy!! I guess 6_6"

the boys & hearing a song from your phone on shuffle a/n: nsfw songs ahead <3 ur welcome. tw: some songs contain heavy subjects such as rape.
simon "ghost" riley - good lookin' by dixon dallas
He's bouncing off my booty cheeks, I love the way he rides I can hardly breathe when he's pumping deep inside I kiss him on his neck and then he kisses on my bussy Call him "Daddy" while I holler Man, that boy so damn good looking (looking, looking)
He has a thousand yard stare as you try to contain your laughter at the song. you love this song, and the artist in general. You originally found him when he was just doing rap, his name being iamjakehill. you completely embraced both the pop punk (ur pretty) project & the country project of his. and now, you're showing your lieutenant one of his very gay masterpieces, despite the artist being a very straight man.
könig - dana dan by bloodywood
Not all men, yes, all men Need all men for what we're solvin' Can't be what it's been but we're evolvin' You see for yourself now get involved in Talking all in, do more, boy, it's a war Chainsaw to the dead weight, leave it raw Bloody galore as we clean out the core Yeah, we do it for her, so we kick in the door
he definitely looked up the lyrics, meaning behind the song, and translation as soon as it was over, and with that he found a new band to listen to. listen, the dude may basically be a war criminal [ they all fuckin are, lets admit it ] but he sure as hell would fucking destroy a rapist as soon as he had the opportunity. all of them would.
john price - i threw glass at my friend's eyes and now I'm on probation by destroy boys
But fuck you! You're so old, dude! Like seriously, what do you think you're doing? Your hands are so big and you're so tall, wow! You know, I kinda wish I had let you do that one thing that one time But in retrospect, it would've been a bad idea 'cause You don't care about me like I care about you so I feel bad
man, this dude felt this song was a personal attack on him. yes, y'all had an age gap, but you needed to assure him he was perfectly fine, and you just liked the song because of trauma prior to meeting him. being a kid/teenager with unmonitered internet access really fucked you up, buddy.
keegan p. russ - chokehold by sleep token [ cover by will ramos ]
So show me that which I cannot see Even if it hurts me Even if I can't sleep Oh, and though we act out of our holy duty to be constantly awake
to say he loved the dudes voice would be an understatement, and then to figure out it was a cover of a song and he heard the original? the man was offended you kept will ramos, his band lorna shore, and the band sleep token from him. his phone would end up being filled with both bands discography.
kyle "gaz" garrick - to the hellfire by lorna shore
Accept this descent into the night Releasing your grasp to induce separation Plunged into the shadows Lost in sensation, we're free falling down into the everblack Can you feel it? These pins and needles
He got scared. He also wondered how you could understand what the guy was saying the whole time. He got VERY confused when the pig squeals started - confused enough to ask if they had a pig in studio. You laughed and explained that no, the vocalist that was screaming - Will - did it all himself. It then lead to you info dumping on the genre of music as a whole.
johnny "soap" mactavish - pisces by JINJER
No promises I ever give Don't rely on me and I won't deceive The beginning or the end you can't tell When I wave my fin and shake my tail I grew in different normality With unblamable morality Hooks and nets are there for me But I'm skittish
The soft voice is what got to him, his eyes going wide when he heard the screaming. He didn't believe you at first when you told him the woman singing was also the one screaming, too. - "No fuckin' way is that a bonnie doin' that." - so you pulled up the song on youtube, and then also pulled up a few live videos of the band, too. He believed you after a few videos, and may have gotten a little jealous when you said she causes you to have a MAJOR gay panic. You also state you wish you had the same amount of talent as her, especially with the screaming.

Musa’s Discography Pt.2
First Full Album. Written throughout the second half of s3 and the first month of summer. Published int he summer between s3 and s4
This one again didn’t have a specific theme though I did try to go for a vibe. Like, this is Musa writing to cope with everything that’s going on whilst trying to ignore her mental health issues so there are one or two ‘darker’ songs when she couldn’t write smth happy or at least not act like everything is fine.
Not sure if I worded that correctly. Here goes:
Afterglow by Taylor Swift.
This is perfect to me as an opening track right before Rivusa have made up she writes this because well… it just fits a lot and I think it’s perfect to open an album that’s kinda Musa just trying to look at the brighter side and ignore the bad shit going on or trying to act like everything will be fine
The Louvre by Lorde.
I see Musa writing this towards the start of summer as a fun summer track to distract herself as she tries to figure out where to stay
Best Friend by Conan Gray.
This was written in bits and pieces over s2 and s3 and it’s just about the squads, I can see her basing it off of the platonic soulmates, like the final part is a super old recording of Sky when Stella told him an ex called her before s1
New Romantics by Taylor Swift.
Another fun summer song to cover up the sadness in an iconic way. I love this song way too much, it deserves more hype
Blue by Madison Beer.
Another track co-written by Helia, story-based. This is the first time the tiniest bit of darkness slips through mostly on the production
Exhale by Sabrina Carpenter.
One of few songs where Musa is fully honest and lets herself go a bit, but I still don’t really count it as one of the ‘darker’ songs. She wrote this before gaining Enchantix
Tornado Warnings by Sabrina Carpenter.
This one was one that she wrote in one night with Helia when neither could sleep and after Musa had lied to her therapist pre-Enchantix, so they just took the phrase ‘lying to my therapist’ and made up a little story as they do
Out of the Woods by Taylor Swift.
This song is peak Rivusa s3 for me, like- just both of them being so bad at relationships but wanting to be in one regardless and just UUGGGGHHHH love them
Sober by Lorde.
First slightly ‘darker’ song, was meant to be a summer bop but turned a bit darker. Here is where the album goes on a tiny spiral. I say tiny cause she won’t really go ‘dark’ till the second album
Stay Numb and Carry On by Madison Beer.
First song she wrote after gaining Enchantix. Kinda wrote a few nonsensical lyrics before pulling them together for the verses and the chorus is just how weird she felt after gaining Enchantix
Follow the White Rabbit by Madison Beer.
Another song she wrote soon after gaining Enchantix. Co-written by Helia cause that song to me is Helia-coded when he’s in a bad mental space…
Tell Em by Sabrina Carpenter.
More light-hearted, wrote it after Tecna ranted about Timmy and about how if they did started dating she’d be stressed about people knowing. Started writing it in s2 while Tecna wouldn’t shut up about Timmy. ‘Cause I’m falling down like I’m summer rain’ Idk why but to me that’s such a Tecna-coded line
idontwannabeyouanymore by Billie Eilish.
Probably the darkest Musa gets in this album, I almost see this as the mirror of Exhale. This was after she kinda processed everything that happened after gaining Enchantix and a few intense therapy sessions
Shadows by Sabrina Carpenter.
It just fits so well at first. I can see her writing this about lit the whole squad before gaining Enchantix, it doesn’t fit as much after that.
Giant by Yuqi.
This would kinda be her way to close the album in a more ‘positive, don’t worry I’m totally fine, I’ll be alright ajajaja rise up like a giant yeah…’ way. Basically she wrote it as a way to tell everyone don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine
Now, on to, the extra tracks of the deluxe version! Oh yeah we’re getting way too specific!!!
The deluxe version comes out after she’s taken in by Tecna’s family.
Deluxe version includes:
skinny dipping by Sabrina Carpenter.
Wrote this during her time at the Wujin Festival whilst the squad went backstage to chat and have fun, performed it on her last day. Little details about almost everyone ‘Oatmilk latte in your name’ is Stella. ‘Arguments in your garage’ is Riven/Timmy, ‘Shannon’s being Shannon’ imagine she said Lexie. Etc.
Bigger Than the Whole Sky by Taylor Swift.
Wrote this while Tecna was in Omega, didn’t want to publish it originally but Tecna cried when she heard it and said she should
i love you by Billie Eilish.
Written during the Rivusa fights and the reconcilation. Very vulnerable so she was hesitant to include it at first but decided to go for it
Labyrinth by Taylor Swift.
Written by Helia about Flora, it was originally a poem. Musa loved it and together they modified a line or two to make it into a song
The Best Day by Taylor Swift.
Musa wrote it whilst sobbing after the Crystal Labyrinth, she wanted to write about the good times she remembered and kinda just sing about her mom’s life instead of her death if that makes sense. Decided to include it in the deluxe version last second cause it felt so personal
decode by Sabrina Carpenter.
This is about her dad. Written after the Wujin Festival and Musa choosing to stop trying to mend their relationship.
That was a long one phew… that’s the first album!!! Yay!!!

tagged to post my 9 favourite album with commentary by @mathewbaldzal !!!! we r two peas in a pod i think with having a lot to say about some tunes...
in no particular order...
different class (1995) - pulp. this is not my no1 album of all time because i don't have a favorite album of all time, but this album is in part representative of "getting into music" to me. i love 90s britpop, whatever that means for a random american and this is my fav of em all (though i do actually quite rate this is hardcore in pulp's discography). "common people" is one of the songs of ALL TIME. god jarvis's little sing-song sleazyness gets me. really, really, really great classic performance of it at glasto 1995...for some reason "pencil skirt" also always really hits.
home video (2021) - lucy dacus. the newest album on this list by a long shot, but it's had songs in my top5 year end lists since it came out. i've also seen lucy live <3. this album rises above some of the others in similar company (punisher - phoebe bridgers, the boygenius ep, etc) because i never get tired of it. "first time" "hot & heavy" "brando" and "triple dog dare" are nearly always standbys in my listening history. probably gonna be an album-i-listened-to-in-college classic forever...
songs of love and hate (1971) - leonard cohen. maybe none of my favorite leonard cohen songs are on this album, but as a single work, this album stuns me. possibly the most transfixing 44:21 i've ever heard. his lyricism in particular is -- i can't even describe it. the mix with his voice, the sparseness of the instrumentation at time, the harmonies. i'm not a big stories guy but in this, yeah, the songwriting, the stories. i don't think there's another album like this one out there, really.
if you're feeling sinister (1998) - belle & sebastian. the first time i heard this album, i thought i had never heard an album so perfect. i love songs off of it but i nearly always listen to it whole. i love, love, love b&s's early sound (twee, if you will), and stuart murdoch's lyrics really, really shine. this is one of my favorite albums to listen to when i have a headache because it's lovely to just, focus on but not grating at all. i really love "judy and the dream of horses" and "get me away from here i'm dying". really, a beautiful work
rumours (1977) - fleetwood mac. i was sort of scrolling through some of my playlists trying to decide what to put on this list (it's a bit weighted towards stuff that's in rotation now) and i couldn't leave off fleetwood mac (in part to represent the huge part of my music taste that is like. classics 1965-1980). stevie nicks was one of my earlier music obsessions (the OG was the beatles). so many wonderful songs and riffs. i know this was left off the original 12-inch but "silver springs" is one of my favorite songs forever and ever and ever...
nebraska (1982) - bruce springsteen. when it comes down to it, this is my favorite springsteen album. i do think his 1975-1987 run of albums is pretty much perfect but nebraska is a masterpiece in a way that i find hard to express in words. there's a sense of sparseness and distance in this work (in part bc of how it was recorded) that i find so utterly compelling i can't even describe. "nebraska" - especially this 1984 live version - is a perfect song to me. perfect. i also like a lot of the stuff that went into inspiring this album (notably flannery o'connor) and well. where it fits into springsteen's narritivization of his own life (dude was in the dumps).
all killer, no filler (2001) - sum41. this pick is a little bit representative of the era of my life where i basically exclusively listened to pop punk but if songs of love and hate is an album that's perfectly drawn out, this is an album that's perfectly compressed. like, the title is correct. this album is fucking TIGHT. i used to listen to it at a job i hated to make the 30-min intervals go by. and it's got such classics...."fat lip"..."motivation..." of course, "in too deep." SO good.
what did you expect from the vaccines? (2011) - the vaccines. maybe this pick is a tiny bit cheesy but it is a perfect encapsulation of the era of alt rock it came from. which i love. i really like the vaccines, i think they're super fun and i did see them in concert finally and they totally lived up to that. "wetsuit" is again...one of my favorite songs of all time. "if you wanna" is a perpetual banger.
age of consent (1983) - new order. again, an album that deserves to be listened to whole, despite how good "age of consent" hits alone ever single time. sometimes i think i like another new order album more than this, but i don't. sumner's voice just out-of-tune ringing out over that sound, that new order sound, the bass, that post-punk club vibe. they're a band that don't sound like anyone else, and this is the album most indicative of that. wow, every time.
a few narrow misses
boxer (2007) - the national. i didn't get the national until one day i did. "slow show." my god. hello.
very (1993) - pet shop boys. it's too simple to say this is an album about gay love because it's so embedded in it's context but. this is an album with so much love. psb are brilliant.
the execution of all things (2002) - rilo kiley. jenny lewis CALL ME. also like. you know "a better son/daughter". there's more.
a thousand suns (2010) - linkin park. i used to listen to this at 6th grade cross-country practice. first band i ever got into on my own. idk.
this is not only my favorite albums but a pretty decent summation of the broad strokes my overall taste. thank you again for the tag!! i enjoyed doing this a lot :). idk who has done this/on what blogs so if u have PLEASEEEEE send it to me i want to see!! i tag @lfcrobbo @upthebrackets @girlfriendline @odegoob @amandaleveille @thelittlebirdthatkeptsomanywarm @kritischetheologie @bright-and-burning @a-corn-field if any of u want to but no presh!!!
#i HAVE been listening to albums off some of these that i've seen ppl do (sez i've only listened to wisecrack but more of urs r on my list)#and there have been notable instances of me falling in LOVE with albums off things like these others have done (c mentioning the midnight#organ fight and passive me aggressive you which have become mainstays for me lol)#SO like always if u wanna chat about music or rec me things i'm so here lololol#shshshsh why did i think i had to tag 9 ppl i'm sitting there like oh gotta get 9 and then realized it's just however many u want.#well i want to know everything about all music taste ever so 9 it is...#tag game#yahooo!!!! <33333333333

Death to the Mechanisms (The Mechanisms)
Our bodies are still and our blood is cold/The books are closed and our stories told/No happy ever after for a tale so old/Laid in blood when the story is done
"ITS JUST. OUGH. So basically all the members of the band (the mechanisms) are immortal space pirates. AND THIS IS THE SONG ABT HOW THEY ALL FINALLY DIE. And each one of their deaths is painfully tragic and fits their characters so well but OUCH IT HURTS. AND THEY ALL DIE ALONE. THEY DON'T EVEN GET TO DIE TOGETHER THEY DIE ONE BY ONE WITH THE FINAL ONE OF THEM TO DIE (toy soldier) DOING SO BECAUSE ALL ITS FRIENDS ARE DEAD AND IT FEELS LIKE IT HAS NO PURPOSE OR REASON TO KEEP ON PRETENDING TO BE ALIVE ANYMORE SO IT STOPS PRETENDING!!!!! And after they spent so long witnessing tragedies from all around the universe its only fitting that their own deaths will be so tragic!!! And just. Man. I could honestly submit the entire mechs discography but thisll have to do i guess"
Losing Track (The Mechanisms)
Right around the corner, Odin's world must burn/Who is she?/As now it is clear to me at this point of no return/It's me that I see/We've nothing but our shackles but our chains are weapons too/Shame to my soul/Our freedom and our vengeance, they'll birth the world anew/Making me whole
"Hi it’s the terminus/sigyn submitter again. This song has one of the craziest like. is it called a quartet? when four people sing at once. yeah there’s points in the song where they’re all saying different things at once. they performed this shit LIVE. it’s such a powerful song like goddamn. ok. it fucks me up because all of these characters have different intentions and goals that are all being intertwined together and it’s being overseen by the narrator of the album as he watches this all happen on security footage. we know at the very beginning of the album that this ends in tragedy but it still gives us a reason to root for all of them. Ghhhh"

Sometimes I wonder if TS is really famous just because she forced her fame onto people.
Oh this is good. With social media and the Internet. You have no choice not to know Taylor Swift. And you don't get to know her because of her music. But because she is famous. Which makes me wonder where her music legacy will be? Yes her Tour breaks records. But other artists did it before and that record will eventually be broken again.
And her albums charting isn't that surprising considering the re-releases and she is on TOUR doing her whole discography. So she is basically promoting it.
Like where was she in 2022? I swear I heard so little to nothing from her. And suddenly BOOM she is forced everywhere.
What is her impact? It's just her being famous? But what did she do for the music industry?
So, not sure how sustainable this is on the long run. But she is not stopping anytime soon. She is still on tour and already releasing a new album. And she is not even done with the tv recordings.
Yeah, it's a bit of a vicious cycle. She is doing so much, so you see her all the time. She does more you see more of her.. it keeps growing on itself

why do people surprised with jk coming up with the most simple thing for his album? he's always been like that tho. just by looking at his discography and things that he did in the past you shouldn't expect more. yes man can draw and he's pretty "creative" at that but he's never coming up with a concept that make people go "woah". just look at his photofolio, he chose vampire as his concept to express himself 💀 and youre right he's overestimated by the whole fandom and dare i say he's overrated too. i used to think 3j were the best performers in bts untill i saw a clip of him performing seven 😬 like yes he's a better performer than the other 4 members but he's just not at jimin and jhope's level esp when his perfomance incorporate dancing. i'm not hating or anything i used to "observe" each members when i was still an army and thats my thoughts. keyword for jungkook: basic.
Yesterday I was watching Olivia Rodrigo's live lounge performances and I was blown away. Literally 😭 it was so beautiful I watched them again a while ago. I was moved by her delivery and amazed at her voice. After that, I watched Troye's. Then, I remembered Jungkook had done it too so I went and watched it.
Seven was so uncomfortable to watch. It was so awkward and forced that I closed it after a minute or so. He also had a backtrack btw. The Oasis song was better, but then again he's always sounded best at ballads and that kind of breathy singing that Koreans love to overuse.
My point is to say that he might be the best vocalist or most stable in BTS, but he doesn't hold a candle to other vocalists outside of kpop. He was literally out of breath for seven, even though he was sitting down. Olivia doesn't have half the career experience he has and she ate him up with ease. Literally. It was like she was in her living room singing just for fun, while Jungkook was mumbling some parts of the song because je couldn't keep up with the English and was so visibly nervous it was impossible for me to keep watching.
He's always been considered so good because he was measured as member of BTS, but there are people infinitely more talented than him. Of course it's all because of armys tunnel vision and their lack of interest in other singers. Do armys even know what Adele sounded like at 16 years old? So the whole thing about glorifying JK in the singing department has always been eehhhh to me because yeah, he's good. But in the real world outside of BTS he's not the best as they'd like to believe.

Five comfort characters
Thanks for the tag, @yoellglia ! Here’s a list of characters that I’m way too attached to (probably bc I can relate to them in one way or another) and love very, very much. In no particular order we have:
Neal Caffrey (White Collar): He’s an artist! Okay, a con artist, but that only makes him more fun! I love when he drags everyone (this inculdes his bff, the whole FBI team and his boss’ wife and dog) into being a part of his shenanigans. He’s also one of the reasons I got into art (my love for Monet started with this show). And he always did a cute little trick with his fedora, which had me obsessed to the point I took a hat and practiced until I could do it. Though I don’t think that skill has stuck with me lol.
Will Graham (NBC Hannibal): He is heavily traumatized and spends a good part of the show haunted by nightmares, drenched in sweat and in need of a hug (and proper medical treatment). He loves fishing with a passion and has a tendency to collect stray dogs (and actually cares so much for them, which is sweet if you ask me). Also, his style goes from scruffy and adorable to neat and sexy and it shouldn’t be possible but he looks great in both.
Nick Nelson (Heartstopper): This boy is indeed a golden retriever. He’s probably the fluffiest character on this list and I basically would’ve loved to be him in my teens (this sounds like it was too long ago, but I’m just about to turn 23 lol). He loves sports, sucks at Mario Kart, has a dog called Nellie and the best part: I’m positive he gives some of the best hugs in the whole world. He’s also the best bisexual rep I’ve seen so far and I’m glad he exists.
Crowley (Good Omens): David Tennant is him, I can’t imagine anyone else playing this demon who’s been in love with an angel for over 6k years (they’ve seriously taken slow burn to a whole other level, but that’s another topic). I absolutely love how much the character plays with style. His snake tattoo is my favorite and his glasses are iconic (tho I must say I very much like his snake eyes). If I was to cosplay a character it would be him. There’s also something about the way he moves that’s so compelling to me. I love his mannerisms. He’s also a plant dad!!! And by now I’ve associated half of Queen’s discography with him and well, Queen is one of my favorite bands ever so yeah.
Sherlock Holmes (ACD Canon): I’m specifically talking about Sherlock from the original works/novels. He isn’t an egotistic, arrogant asshole that seemingly has no emotions or compassion for others. No, no, he’s actually just a nerdy, kind weirdo with too many feelings. Seriously, just read one of the many stories there are and you’ll see the difference. And before someone comes at me, I’m not hating on any adaptations here, I’m just stating my point of view and personal preference. Anyway, one of my favorite Sherlock moments is from The Musgrave Ritual. Sherlock was supposed to be tidying the apartment bc it was littered with his stuff, then Watson asked him about the contents of a wooden box and ofc it ended in story time. And well, I don’t know about you, but I find his getting distracted with old stuff while cleaning very relatable.

Good Kid, m.A.A.d City Review
GKMC is an album that is considered one of the greatest hip-hop/rap albums of all time. And I can strongly agree with that. I would also call TPAB the same thing. But it already has the title of “Best album ever”. Which is true, it is the greatest album ever made. But I’m here to talk about TPAB. I’m here for GKMC and why I think it’s a perfect album.
1. Sharaine a.k.a Master Splinter’s Daughter
This is an amazing song to start off the Album. But most importantly, this starts the whole story this whole album tells from start to finish. It starts off a tape playing with boys praying to god. Then Kendrick sings about taking his momma’s van and going to the girl I can’t spell out’s place to have sex. But he really likes her so it’s different. He stops singing and a voicemail of Kendrick’s mother starts playing. She tells Kendrick to come back home, that she needs to go to an appointment later while Kendrick’s father is talking about dominoes pizza. He then tells his wife that she’s killing her vibe. Then it goes into… 10/10.
2. Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe
This is a banger for the aux in the car. It’s really catchy while being unique and fun with Kendrick singing about his place in the music industry and how the industry is changing and how he doesn’t like that. But it’s still an iconic piece of art in Kendrick’s Discography. At the end of the song, Kendrick’s Hood friends come by and tell him to hope in and ready up his freestyles. 10/10.
3. Backseat Freestyle
I don’t know how. But this song is so natural and feels like Kendrick is actually free-styling while also sounding like he wrote it as well. Kendrick is a lyrical genius! I know most of the words to this song. I love it! 10/10.
4. The Art Of Peer Pressure
I feel like with every album Kendrick releases, there’s always a song that tells a story through the lyrics and makes it so damn fucking amazing. Also, the intro is the best intro to a song I have heard in a long time. Following after the previous song, Kendrick is peer pressured into breaking into and robbing the house they pull up to. After that, Kendrick gets back in his mother’s van and goes back towards Sherane’s house. 11/10.
5. Money Trees (feat. Jay Rock)
I found this song from TikTok and I wish I hadn’t. Because this is much more than some song someone lip-synced to on TikTok of all things. This a great ass song with the Jay Rock feature being one of the best things for this song. Without him, it would’ve been different. I love this song, I love this album. It’s just so incredible! At the end of the song, Kendrick’s mom sends another voice message saying that she just wants to get out of the house at that point because Kendrick’s father is acting very weird. Singing about K-Dot’s mother’s fat ass. He then remembers the domino’s from before. 10/10.
6. Poetic Justice (feat. Drake)
This… yeah… even after the beef, I still think this song is as amazing as I still think of it as. And Drake isn’t terrible yet at the time. Kendrick decides to go back to Sherane’s, but he is stopped by two dudes in black hoodies who jump him. 10/10.
7. Good Kid
This song is very underrated. It’s a great song. I love it. It’s about Kendrick’s thoughts after being jumped and how he’s a good kid in this mad city. 9.5/10.
8. m.A.A.d City
Now this! Is a top 5 Kendrick Lamar song right here! I’m married to this song and I’ll be living with it in my heart till I die and get buried 6 feet under. The intro. The lyrics. The beats! The beat switch! The last moment of the song!!! This is perfect! Everything about this is perfect! At the end of the song, Kendrick and his friends all drink alcohol together after what happened. 11/10.
9. Swimming Pools (Drank) (Extended Version)
This and the normal version are basically the same, except for the audio recording at the end. But it doesn’t matter, these two are so good as they should. And I love them. Also, another iconic Kendrick song. After they have a few drinks, a car drives by and starts shooting at them. They shoot back but in the end. One of their friends, Dave, is dead. 10/10.
10. Sing About Me, I’m Dying Of Thirst
This. Is. A. perfect song. It goes for over 12 minutes. Yet, not a single second goes to waste or made worse by anything else. It’s actually two songs in one. But they’re both combined into one anyway. In Sing About Me, Kendrick sings about if people Will about him when he dies after experiencing near death and the loss of his friend. And I also think that he sings from one of his friend’s POVs. In I’m Dying Of Thirst, Kendrick sings about how he’s tired of running away. At the end of the song, an old lady comes up to them and say that they are dying of thirst. And that they need holy water to wash away their sins. They pray the same words as the beginning of the album. Connecting everything together to make sense of everything so far. They do that and they are given a new chance to be real. This song can’t be explained with words. It’s perfect. 12/10.
11. Real
This is another underrated song that people should appreciate more. There’s not much else to say except that it’s as great as the rest of this album. Kendrick’s dad sends Kendrick a voice message saying that he’s sorry for the loss of his friend. Then Kendrick’s mother does the same thing except she says that she loves him and hopes for him to come back by tomorrow. She says goodbye. The tape ends and reverses backwards. 9/10.
12. Compton (feat. Dr. Dre)
This is the most underrated song of this entire album. I love this song so much. It’s fun and the auto tuned note thing at the end was just so… Perfect… at the end of the song, Kendrick takes the keys to the van and yells out to his mother that he’ll be back. Ending at the beginning. 11/10.
Edit: I wrote this all on my notes app to get the version I felt that expressed my thoughts about this masterpiece. I changed a few things and changed almost everything about my review of Poetic Justice. I can’t wait to talk about my favourite album ever next. Also, I would’ve added the deluxe songs, but decided to just stick to the main material.
Overall: this album is perfect. I love everything about it and I just wanna listen to the whole thing from the beginning again. I’m going to give this album… a 11/10.

Hello!! 8D I'm new to the Sleep Token fandom; I saw like 2 concert videos on my TikTok feed yesterday morning and proceeded to complete the fastest casual to full blown fan speedrun of my life in a single day XD And I don't really have anyone I can yell about them to, not even the person who originally introduced me to their music, so :P I'm still working my way through listening to their full discography, but I wanted to say a MAJOR part of how fast I got into them I feel is because of the Wembley show from this past weekend?? It says so much about Vessel that he handled the whole thing the way that he did, and the more footage I see from that specific show the more my heart is FULL for this man <3 That on top of the cool and intriguing lore, AMAZING aesthetics, and of course the music (which I was already into before but even moreso now XD), and it was a RECIPE for a hyperfixation :3 I also wanted to say as a newbie that I love the new masks?? Especially Vessel's; the red edgings are SO cool and put even more emphasis on his TEETH :P His whole look is Iconic (though I wonder if that cloak must be heavy to wear??), I love that the other members of the band are developing their own distinctive looks too?? And it's super cool to see how their look evolves as they become more and more successful, just from what I've seen so far <3 I also just REALLY love how more and more music artists are embracing the innately religious experience that comes with a live concert?? As you can probably tell I'm a Swiftie so I had the same thought about the Eras tour XD but also with other punk-rock/metal artists like Ghost :P So calling their shows a "Ritual" or a "Worship" is metal as hell, I think :3 Plus just as a somewhat personal note, lately I've been running out of podcast episodes that I feel comfortable falling asleep to, and I already want Vessel's voice just PUMPED DIRECTLY INTO MY VEINS, so the natural progression I think is using ST to fall asleep to as well?? Which I mean, given their lore and everything, worshipping the eldritch god of sleep, feels appropriate XD Last thing -- so far my fave song of theirs is The Love You Want, I can't stop listening to it :3 I originally got into them through The Summoning, of course, and now I also love Alkaline cause it was in one of the videos I mentioned XD I started downloading more and more individual songs that I saw mentioned by name on here until I just caved and basically downloaded their entire discography, it was gonna happen anyway at this rate XD But I'd love to know what your faves are, too!! <3 (and bless you for reading this long-ass message from a total stranger lol XD)
Hello there! Wow, that's quite the achievement!! I totally understand though, once you get sucked into their tar trap (hehe) it's pretty much impossible to leave (not that I have ever wanted to).
Welcome to the family!! I hope you enjoy your stay here - there are warm beverages and snacks on the table, take as much as you want and get cosy. 💙🍵🍪 You are more than welcome to scream about our beloved cryptics - we shall all join you, like a pack of feral wolves howling at the moon Sleep 🐺🌕
I have recently gotten an ask from another lovely new member of this weird little community, and did an introductory post of sorts. I will link it here - it's a nice read, and there is a very good post linked there with some more background on the band - how did they start, album evolution, some important lore info, etc etc, by our lovely local archivist and knowledge keeper hehe. It's an incredibly thorough and comprehensive read - 100% reccomend!
So, about Wembley. Yeah, I think we're all still collectively recovering from it. There was A LOT of expection for it, being their last Ritual of the year, and the biggest headline to date, and even more things happening (New masks, iii's return, and of course Vessel's unfortunate situation). Vessel, the band and choir, and every single crew member involved did a fantastic, admirable job under the circumstances.
I won't dwell too much on it, as I've already shared my thoughts on another post, as so did many others, but yes - the fact that Vessel chose to perform at all given his condition, and somewhat stil managed to blow everyone away, is nothing short of an indicative of how sweet and beautiful, and loving that man is. I have nothing but respect for him and the guys - it must've been pretty hard on them as well to perform in such sad circumstances. The show was incredible, and my heart is still so so full with it 💙
The masks are pretty amazing!! I'm personally still attached to the old black ones, and in mourning of iii's victorian child look, but I do loooove the new costumes (they got me feeling some type of way, but I won't be weird here. Just Thinking Things)! Very yummy 😚 The new Choir outfits are INCREDIBLE aaaaaa (you will see me fangirl about them a lot).
Vessel's mask in not new per-se - he's had this one since May or June I believe (around the time TMBTE came out). His mask (and shoulder piece) is AMAZING, I am so in love with it still. It was done by Hysteria Machine - the same artists who did the new Espera (my lovely choir ladies) masks (debuted in the first German Ritual of December). His cloak is actually super lightweight, and the shirtless look helps to keep him cool during his adorable zoomies hehe (not sure about the fur on the back - but he seems to be okay with it, for the ~aesthetic~. My love is a nerd lol)
Yeah, the religious vibes are definitely there, even if just for the lore. I'm not a fan of neither Taylor Swift nor Ghost, so I can't really comment on that, but concerts to have a very transcedent feel to it. "Worship" is kind of a tagline for the band and fans, while Rituals are the actual shows!
I have lost count to how many night's I've fallen asleep to Vessel's voice lmao. As someone with severe insomnia issues, their music is nothing short of divine. 💙
I too was a victim of The Summoning - I suppose it really worked! TLYW funnily enough was my least favourite from that album during the first 2 or 3 listens. Then I watched the live performance for it and OMG. Now it occupies a very special place in my heart - even more after iii's brief absence!
My favourite song is Atlantic - it will forever and always have my heart. Very closely followed by Chokehold / The Apparition / Drag Me Under. Special kiss with tongue to Fields of Elation and Jaws (among others)! Do not sleep (hehe) on their eps/singles!!!! They are fenomenal!!! I always reccomend you listen to the albums in full, at least at first, to really get the full experience. But of course, you do you hun!
If you like the lore aspect of the band, I'd definitely recommend you scroll through the ST lore tag. There are so many amazing posts with lyric analysis, lore headcanons, among others. Also thought the fanart tag!!! The amount of talent and care in this fandom is insane. Everyone is so kind and loving and sweet here - I'm sure you'll have a good time! Don't be shy, go full unhinged if you so wish, and feel free to drop by anytime with any thoughts, questions, or anything else 💙
#fellas we got one more!! the cult is growing hehehe#(it feels so weird to be on this side of the fandom now. 6 months ago I was the one making questions and discovering st)#(and now I get to help?? Wack. Spreading Sleep's message as intended - Vessel where's my kiss)#darya answers#sleep token
