I have been treating spacium energy like a substance despite it not really being one, so I want to pack some headcanons about how exactly it would act and classfie.

by Ultraman: rising (which is what i'm doing this whole thing for) how much an ultra can last is dependent on their mental state rather than thinning energy reserves like in what i got from other ultra sources.
I wanted to try and combine the two. I want Ultraman’s energy to be an issue, one that doesn't allow to transform at any comfortable moment, that demands the Ultra to know their state and capabilities to ensure no sudden shrinkage.
releasing energy once in a while should also be important, otherwise if an ultra is too full of energy their movements may become stiff and uncomfortable until some energy is released.
why would an ultra involuntarily shrink/why would a color timer be triggered:
-a failsafe mechanism. an ultra in distress/ a scared or stressed ultra, like all living creatures is a dangerous one. removing the ultra to where they can’t harm their environment would ensure its wholeness and the ultra’s sanity. This point acknowledges the power that all ultras naturally possess and that can bring a lot of damage if not controlled.
-low energy reserves.
Actually, what does a color timer even do other than be an indicator?
In canon it's all that is, an indicator, but what if it was what allowed ultras to shapeshift and change sizes in the first place? knowing what they have done, they're probably technologically advanced enough for that to be plausible. when your race is suddenly turned into giants, everything they built probably stayed small, made to fit their size before they grew. 
Returning the ultras to their original size would be easier than rebuilding society, not to mention resources. so maybe they made a device that allowed them to switch between their old, smaller form, and their new natural giant one.
The catch is that they can't stay in their small form forever, because even small, their bodies naturally produce spacium energy, and from time to time it has to be released or else they could literally explode from the pressure. 
maybe some ultras even prefer their bigger size despite the inconveniences. After all, such a drastic change could eliminate or generate so many problems!
For example space travel and travel in general would become a lot less complicated and exisible, for as long as there’s energy hunger wouldn't be a problem anymore, and so much more!
Of course, it's not without cons as well, like population density and resource demand to name a couple, but I guess the population could just spread over a larger territory to solve those problems. we shouldn't forget the Ultra’s destructive potential as well :>

Who do we have the pleasure of speaking with today?
Excelsior! I'm Trynnt! That's Explorer or Artificer Trynnt if we're using titles, but I just like my name.
What's your background? Where do you come from?
I'm from a smaller settlement on the Tarnished Coast called Rata Kasus. It's a good way away from Rata Sum but there are just as many krewes and labs at work out there. Fishing too, your regular coastal town. I graduated from the College of Synergetics and apprenticed with a few different krewes before making my own way in the world. These days I live in Lion's Arch with my family!
What are some important relationships in your life? (romantic, platonic, familial, etc)
I'm lucky to have two romantic partners - my wife Seffi and our other partner Welxx. His name may not be on our marriage contract but he's every bit important to us. They both mean the world to me and I'm glad to have made a life with them.
My other closest relationship would have to be my older brother Czoll. He and Seffi always looked out for me when we were little and to this day he's the kindest, most caring person I know. I love 'ya, big guy.
I have some great friends as well! i could talk to Zexx for hours about jewelcraft and chronomancy and the same goes for Neffh's understanding of the magitechnical use of necromancy. It's been a delight to work and learn with them and I'll always enjoy the time we spend together. True geniuses and great people, both of them.
This ah- this list would get really long if I kept going, so I'll move on!

I'm an elementalist - a weaver specifically - and I've always been fascinated by the way different kinds of magic interact. It all exists in a kind of balance across a broad spectrum. Not just the four elements, but everything! It's always changing, working in harmony at one point or total dissonance at another. That kind of ordered chaos got me thinking.
I'm also an artificer - an inventor. I make machines and technologies that I hope to use to better the world around us. Tyria's changed a lot in the past decade, and now more than ever is it important that we rebuild and we've been given an amazing opportunity to do that thanks to Aurene and Her unique fusion of different magics that should react violently - but don't!
-ah bolts, I'm rambling. I made a machine that uses prismaticite to alter the state of magic from one input to another! I call it the Prismatic Aetherconverter. Turns out if you cut those crystals in the precise way, you can alter their output of magic. Put that assembly in a channel and feed magic through the whole system, you get a means of shifting its attunement to your exact specifications.
I use this for my other craftwork. It's a great way to speed up enchanting or charging magitech and it's a great source of magic for study in lab environments! I hope to improve its scalability and introduce a number of different form factors in the coming years, make magic more accessible to the masses.
What's your profession? What does a typical day look like for you?
I'm an explorer with the Durmand Priory. I joined almost ten years ago now and my responsibilities there vary from day to day.
If I'm out in the field it probably means I'm part of an expedition or a Pact taskforce looking to discover something or solve a problem. For me that often means I'm a small part of a much bigger team. Excavation, ruins-delving, anomalous materials handling. Everybody's important and everybody's got their role to fill. What we uncover tends to end up in my lab for analysis and adaptation into artifice.
If I'm working back at the Priory proper, I serve a logistics role. Any equipment requests for advanced technology, enchanted items, and specialized tools flow through me and artificers like me - a golem suit for hazardous environments, a camera designed to look into the Mists, or special munitions for use against dragon minions, for instance.
I find the work to be quite fulfilling!
What are some hobbies you enjoy?
I like to collect and restore old technology for starters! Really old - stuff my grandparents would have used. Datapads, audio devices, communicators, golems and golemites, that sort of thing. A lot of it doesn't work but it has a history all the same. We Asura don't have many connections to our past because of the Elder Dragons, so it feels like a way to look back on where we came from.
I play Polymock too. I was never good enough for the pro leagues but what could be more fun than some simulated holographic violence between Tyria's deadliest monsters? There's a card game variant too that makes for good entertainment on longer expeditions.
If all of that wasn't enough, Seffi's good at keeping me active! We swim or go on hikes or head out to Tyria's different mountain ranges for rock climbing. We don't bother with climbing back down though - that's what gliders are for! She calls me a cheater for using earth magic to speed my way up the cliffs, but she sure doesn't complain about more airtime after the fact. The Festival of the Four Winds is the best time for it - tall rocks, strong currents, and the summer sun? Alchemy, that's just perfect.

And I got an idea for a classic SF setting where
it turns out once a civilization collects all the low fruit, technological and scientific progress grinds to a haul. As a consequence, there are million year old civilizations out there but the difference between us and them is more like Classical Rome and the US, not Homo habilis and us. There's no singularity, rockets still obey Newton, and there's barely any fusion (oddly, total conversion turns out to be a doddle and often the last thing civilizations invent).
Alas, while FTL is doable, it's slow and limited, and lifebearing worlds are hard to get a foothold on so civilizations tend not to spread. When they do spread, it's unevenly (see Percolation Theory).The downside of FTL is it means collapse can spread all across even interstellar civilizations.
Also alas, aliens are _alien_ and bridging the communication gap is hard. As a consequence of that and slow travel times, there's less contact than one might expect. The Great Silence is because almost no one thinks it is worth the investment to talk and if they did, it would be by messenger courier (months to years), not radio (years to millennia).
There _is_ a large scale organization to reduce friction, because experience says not having one is worse. Its name translates as "the least we could do." It's poorly funded and draws mainly from the species at the very high end of the gregariousness scale. It's there to prevent violence. It won't preemptively nuke potentially troublesome species because experience says being the sort of organization that does that leads to poor outcomes. It will jam their jump points so that they can't be used.
The Least has automated monitors in every solar system. The Least has a very large database on the development of civilizations, and all the likely Great Filters they have to survive (or in the majority of cases, fail to). Each new group is an additional headache, so if the Least notices a group barrelling toward self-annihilation, they generally do nothing. Which gets us to Earth.
They've known about Earth for millions of years, maybe longer. They've known about hominins since we started affecting the environment in a major way. Humans check off a lot of the warning signs for a doomed species. As a consequence, the monitor misread the hundreds of nuclear weapons tests as a sustained nuclear war. It sent a notice to the Least to that effect. Then the Least jammed the Sol jump points from the far side, cutting off all communications.
While the data on humans is correct, interpretation by officials who skim those records isn't. Those who remember the humans at all remember them for comparative proximity to a impending supernova (the main reason galactics are interested in our otherwise unfashionable part of the Milky Way) and for being chaotic, fearfully energetic, narcoleptic, violent [1], obligate carnivores with an insane birth rate [2] from a giant, bright, doomed [3] star system. Happily, humans might have wiped themselves out. If they didn't, rebuilding from a thermonuclear war should keep them too busy for space flight for a few centuries. If they do make it into space, all their jump points are impassible.
So where did the human starship come from?
The Least is sufficiently adept for its needs to create translators and thousands of years of watching Earth gave them databases on all the major languages, including a bunch now extinct. As a consequence, the Least will speak to the human ship in English. However, since none of the Least's databases were updated since the 1950s, all of the slang is archaic.
1: Actually, lots of intelligent species are far more violent. They tend not to get past the nuclear weapon Great Filter. Some esp violent examples don't survive pointed stick.
2: For a K-strategy species. The R-strategy guys produce far more offspring but they have a proportionately larger mortality rate.
3: Most ETs come from red dwarf systems.
My responses:
That's a fantastic bit of worldbuilding. Thinking along my own lines… Assuming FTL develops out of roughly contemporary experiments in physics and follows a standard engineering timeline, we're about 100-200 years away from developing FTL. If the Least hasn't updated its linguistics databases since 1950, that would make it over 200 years out of date. It would be like trying to hold a conversation with Jane Austen. Or the basis of FTL could be something with immediate engineering applications, which would optimistically put FTL about 25-50 years away. That would make the gap more like trying to talk to someone from the 1920s. And you'd have the bonus of humans running around in tin cans strapped to nuclear reactors and whatever absurd high energy physics-thing makes the FTL work. You wouldn't really need jump points to blockade a star system either. If the FTL is a convenient warp or hyperdrive type, just slap some sort of blanket interdiction field around Earth. Say from a TMA-1 type object (or maybe a pair and a spare set-up) buried under the Lunar dirt, to protect it from radiation and micro-impacts. The Least comes by once every two hundred years or so to make sure interdictor is still working. It's not that important to them; even if your species survives a limited nuclear war, all of your easy to access resources have been used up, your environment is crap, and your population is minuscule. The interdiction field is more of a technicality, to make sure the really violent types don't somehow manage to crawl out of their own wreckage. An interdiction field would also explain why humans didn't discover the principles behind FTL until relatively late. Our systems had to be really sensitive to detect whatever the signs are. And it would be an interesting bit of tension between humans and everyone elese. "You expoxied our apartment door shut." "Yeah. Sorry. In our defence, we heard gunshots and assumed you were dead. We didn't want the smell to bother anyone."

Thinking some more about it… 1850s-1920s: The observed world has clearly entered a phase of rapid industrialization, with a high potential to develop nuclear weapons. Build the interdiction facility on the moon, take as many low-altitude scans now as you can (There were various UFO crazes through to the 1920s), and then pull back to remote observation. 1920s-1950s: All observations are now done through automated remote systems, including various stealth drones. Observations of Earth's atmosphere reveal growing levels of toxic heavy metals (leaded gasoline), a degraded ozone layer (fluorocarbons), wartime use of nuclear weapons, and growing tensions between nuclear powers. In March 1954, following the Castle Bravo detonation, a mass shooting at the US Capitol, and the start of the Battle of Dien Bien Phu, the remote observation team decides to pull out of the system and activate the interdiction system. The last atmospheric data shows the Castle Romeo detonation, and is taken as the start of a thermonuclear battle.

Design Might Be Our Most Powerful Liberatory Tool
Look, we all know the situation. The world kinda sucks right now. Things are not looking great. The environment is dying, the global majority is impoverished, and communities are fragmented. Don’t even get me started on neocolonialism. With our interconnected global societies, these issues are all mangled and tangled together, and impact all of us, directly and indirectly.
As a designer, I have a bias, but I view everything that we as humans do through a design lens. I see all of the failings I mentioned as design failures. If inequity was designed, we can use design to create something much better. It’s all about the design process. By centering liberty, equity, solidarity, ecology, and cooperation in our design process, whether the project is a piece of technology or a system of governance, we’ll be able to not only address the issues that are negatively impacting us but iterate toward the most equitable future possible.
So, that might sound great to you, but you could also be wondering, “What do we do to center those things in our design work?” We have to critically unpack how design is done by designing our design process with these things in mind. After all, if we set out to design a free world, but we just use the same old tools and systems in the same old ways, we won’t get the result that we want. Even if, by some miracle, conditions do substantially improve, that victory won’t be long-lasting. Design isn’t neutral. Having the goal be liberation is great, but if our process isn’t liberatory, then we’re likely to recreate systems of oppression, with a different set of rulers.
Essentially, our goal with any equity-focused, liberatory design work is to solve the problems we face in a flexible and adaptable manner. We have to make sure that we understand, catalog and check our biases and assumptions to create a foundation of liberation.
To reframe our design process to truly solve the issues that face us, we need to:
See everyone as a designer. Everyone interacts and contributes to the products of design. Everyone impacted by a design should have a say in how and what is designed. Co-creating with communities allows us to start the work of eroding pyramidal power structures and rebuild power distribution horizontally.
Be willing to experiment. Our first idea won’t be our best, but that’s okay!
Embrace complexity. There is a tendency to default to the simplest solution to a problem. By being open to having solutions that are more involved, we create a possibility space that holds way more potential to address problems in a holistic way.
These frames allow us to start to cede power as “Designers” to the people who the designs are meant for. This is important because there is no better way to solve problems than to involve the people most directly affected by the problem. Capital D “Designers” have to be willing to design with people, not for people.
As an example: due to the stratified, hierarchical nature of our industrial-technical society, people generally have been grouped into two categories: empowering jobs and disempowering jobs. Many of us are familiar with this situation: as a young person, you work in a job that is fully disempowering, where your role essentially involves doing the most menial work out of anyone in the hierarchy. As you provide value to the business you’re working for through your labor, you move up the hierarchy, which allows you to “earn” more empowering jobs, which have you doing fewer and fewer disempowering tasks as you climb the ladder.
This system reinforces itself, where people only get power and agency by being willing to make up lower levels of the hierarchy. This leads to a general belief that the system is immutable. You “have” to participate and climb the ladder in order to gain the position you actually want.
This type of stratification and hierarchy permeates every aspect of our lives, from the family unit to the government. It seeps into our social situations, and as designers, especially ones focused on liberation, we have to be aware of this. Our tasks are not to just create new things but recreate the relationships to things so that mindsets can be shifted for the betterment of everyone the design touches. If we can design in ways that center our values and aspirations, both in the way things are created and what things are created, we can redefine our society in a positive way that leaves no one behind and refuses to calcify inequality.

every time i see the 'just plant trees to save the environment' i want to commit a fucking murder. no. just planting trees doesn't do shit. you need to bring life back to soil that's lost it, you need to rebuild destroyed habitats including grasslands and marshes and bogs and all other sorts of environments, especially ones without trees.
yes we need to change how our energy is produced but we also need to change how it's used and stored, including making technology more energy efficient and having less dangerous batteries like hydrogen fuel cells in cars rather than the standard battery in an electric vehicle. we need to cut down on energy used by using alternative methods of generation that use more sustainable processes. again, hydrogen fuel cells, and also a bit of nuclear energy on the side.
we need to find ways to stabilise the climate whilst keeping to natural fluctuation cycles. we're currently in an interglacial period, which means temperatures ARE going up, but the issue is they're going up too rapidly to be normal. People aren't trying to account for that when they talk about climate change, they want it to be EXACTLY the same. this is obviously an issue as the climate DOES have specific fluctuation cycles that naturally occur.
yes, we need more oxygen in the atmosphere, and we need to pull carbon out BUT there's more pressing chemicals in abundance in the atmosphere, like sulphur dioxide and methane, that are a lot worse of a trap for radiation and causing a decent amount of problems. so yea, more oxygen, keep a bit of the carbon dioxide BUT the worst issue is heavier chemicals in the atmosphere that basically nobody seems to talk about in popular activism (i trust climate scientists do but most big figures i've seen just. don't.). i've seen people say we need to take the nitrogen and hydrogen out of the atmosphere too before. i don't need to explain how stupid that is.
stabilising climate change is a lot more than just planting trees and hoping for the best, it's restoring habitats and making sure natural cycles get back on course. it's finding ways to change the materials we use to ensure they're sustainable, especially technology.
because ewaste is a contributor to the problem, a decently large one. not recycling technology means that rare materials need to be dug up over and over again, lessening the available amount we have and taking up large amounts of land in low income countries where they don't enforce technological waste regulations. what happens with that dumped waste? people are poor, they see rare materials and such they can sell for money, they go to these land fills and it ends up killing them because it's unsafe and when there's shit like batteries in there too it kills. and it's not that companies can't recycle, it's that it's just cheaper not to. it's cheaper to kill people and kill the environment and destroy habitats in the pursuit of money than it is to recycle a broken laptop's materials and repurpose the working parts.
every time i see a new, useless piece of tech that nobody needs announced i just think to myself 'what's the fucking point'. because apple doesn't need to release two to three new phones every two years, they could easily sustain on one phone every two years or two models every four. they dump waste, they produce way too much stuff, and for what?
i saw that LG is making a tv you can roll up recently, and a phone to match. the phone, i have less issue with, as it's meant to be easily fixable and not discarded the moment it breaks even a little. the tv is unnecessary. neither are needed technically, they could just have a good repair policy on their current phones. they won't, but they should.
and i'm not against new tech, but i don't think people and the environment should suffer because amazon wants to make a device to spy on you and apple wants to sell you the same phone for the fourth time in a row and some company wants to make a novelty fucking phone.

I am stuck in an unusual scenario. I have been trapped in a kind of simulator. I thought I was just framed for crimes. But this simulator simulates my guilt. Apparently someone has recently perfected quantum teleportation. They have used it to teleport matter in front of me. They have also teleported my body before. I have been tortured in jail before and this is worse. I want to give in. But I am not sure just what they want or for how long this experiment goes on for anyway. We communicate using neuro-strike technology. It protects the communicators identity. I hope their ok actually. I don't want the experimenters targeted by the government. I think they are trying to convey something more complex about what these technologies could be used for. I did want to move to China in the past. Unbeknownst to be I've been monitored quite heavily since 2007. What I assumed was malpractice was actually human experimentation. I was one of the victims of what "Zhìkù"(my name for the unknown communicator on the other side) calls MK_MONARCH. I'm not sure what countries I was being monitored by. Xenoblade Chronicles 2
I’ve heard of the Xenoblade series but this was my first time actually interacting with any of the video games. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 from what I’ve gathered from a quick google search because I knew absolutely nothing going into the show is that the nature of the world they live on is completely destroyed. The guy who destroyed the world, Klaus, feels bad for destroying it and is trying to build it back up again from nothing. Also from what I’ve gathered the video game series doesn’t have a single anime adaptation which I find weird because I know some games have had anime adaptations like the Persona series.

So the world needs help rebuilding from the ground up again. That is what the cloud sea does. Much like the Sea of Decay in Nausicaa, the cloud sea covers the entirety of the earth. What we find out later is that the cloud sea is a bunch of nanobots that are recovering or taking genetic information from the titans to make new organisms to try to repopulate the world. The titans also offer the only livable space for humans to live in the entire world which is on their backs. I think like in Nausicaa, Xenoblade comments on nuclear and environmental concerns with Xenoblade being more recent of course there is still that worry. As when Nausicaa was made Chernobyl hadn’t had its nuclear meltdown yet. Xenoblade I think took it too extreme as a medium to raise awareness of the effects on our environments. Due to their world being utterly destroyed the characters imagine a place called “Elysium” which is their “Heaven.” A place full of land and greenery but when they actually reach this Elysium it’s desolate. It’s devoid of life with all the buildings being destroyed.

I think this is the biggest call to our real world and this is the way I can relate to the game the most. In our world the continuous urbanization and growing technology is beneficial for us humans now, but what about 1000 years down the road. Will our world also end up like their Elysium completely destroyed from harming nature to an irreversible extent. (I hope not.) Xenoblades calls forth the need for conservation of our own world before it’s irreversibly damaged which unfortunately is not too far down the road.

Overall, I wasn’t able to get everything from the cutscenes but I was able to get enough and that was good. I wish I could’ve played the game then written this blog but that would’ve taken way too long and knowing me I would’ve quit before I reached the end.
