Man if Penelope was in TOA it would be fucking insane cause she'd just keep laughing-
Apollo: Look, I need your help-
Penny: Who are you???
Apollo: You know me.
Penny: ...
Apollo: How's Achilles, Penelope?
Penny: APOLLO????
And then she'd burst out laughing while hearing about what happened

I forgot to say this while I was reading Thunder, but I really like the differences between the trials to join ShadowClan vs ThunderClan.
ShadowClan trials make no sense, they clearly exist only to make life harder for anyone trying to join, which is pretty obvious considering Berryheart is in charge of creating them. And hardly anyone bats an eye at these nonsense trials because they either also don't want strangers joining their Clan or they want new members to prove they're worthy of being here. ShadowClan cats seem to pride themselves on their independence more than other Clans. Anyone who signs up has to prove they can do crazy dangerous stunts without help. The level to which they have to perform is ridiculous because Berryheart is unfair but this is not seen as a bad thing. Prove you're tough enough to belong here. Prove that ShadowClan is the most impressive.
By contrast, ThunderClan trials are about community, and they're intended to teach rather than truly test. While ShadowClan trials are about weeding out the weaklings and ending up with only the most capable warriors, ThunderClan trials are about teaching new warriors to become capable in their new home. While we don't see Fernstripe's trials, Sunbeam's are all about undoing her ShadowClan ideal of independence and replacing it with ThunderClan teamwork. These trials mostly serve the Clan, too. Feed the elders, protect the camp. How well can you commit to teamwork, even while stuck with someone you don't get along with? This is about creating a strong new Clanmate more than it's about gatekeeping.
I like these trials because they highlight the differences between the two Clans better than most books have bothered to. The attitudes and culture between the two camps feels more distinct than ever.

Been thinking a lot about the idea that a StarClan cat appearance becomes more fantasy-like based on the stories of them and how they're perceived by the living. So new spirits would look more like how they were alive while older spirits would look different.

While I do imagine they keep a "BE NOT AFRAID" normal-form that they can choose to appear as, yes. Over time, ancestral spirits begin to lose touch with their mortal forms and become abstractions.
Once, long ago, the Four Seasonal Gods resembled something very much like an ancient patron of Silverpelt. In comparison to Rock, Sol, Midnight, and Sharptooth, even the oldest spirit in StarClan (Gray Wing) is still an infant.
Partner and I are still designing the other founders but Gray Wing and Clear Sky are pretty solid.

So I was thinking to myself "Man I really like these new clan change trials that ASC introduced, there so much fresher and more interesting than the generic warrior assessments that just consist of catching a bunch of prey" when I realized something...
At first I just told myself that "the warrior assessments are just that way because they came up with that back in Arc 1, and they didn't think at the time that they would be writing 8+ arcs of this", but theres more to it than that.
-In Arc 1: Fireheart got his warrior name after the battle with Brokenstar.
-In Arc 2: Brambleclaw, Stormfur, Feathertail, and Tawnypelt all got their names before the books, and Crowfeather and Squirrelflight got their names during/just after the journey.
-In Arc 3: Hollyleaf and Lionblaze got their names after the big battle in Eclipse.
It wasn't until Arc 4 where Dovewing and Ivypool got their names via traditional assessment in Sign of the Moon.
POVs usually got their warrior names via deeds or feats. The assessments where originally designed to level up side characters, or when they were used for POVs, it was for when they got their names in between time skips. I theorize that is why they are so basic, but now that they are being used more and more for POVs, how basic they are now being exposed where it was once not so prominent.
But to tie it back to start, even if they aren't willing to switch back to the feats system of before, I do think this new system of the trials is a clever workaround to revitalize the "hero has to prove themself" part of the story. Its probably no coincidence that these were introduced in the same arc where 1 of the POVs had their assessment done before the start of the series, and the other at least had the spice of having to retake it multiple times.
