it's sometimes so silly to look in the notes of a polyamory art/post and see people like "is this cheating art....?" when the characters in canon are all extremely close friends. i know it's not malicious because most people think of monogamy as the default and anything outside that Must be cheating, but truly i'm always like. guys. guys Please.
please think about this for like 2 seconds.
under what circumstances do we think this non-canon couple might hold hands directly in front of their canon partners. and under what circumstances do we think the canon partners might be okay with this. do we Truly think this is a secret relationship. do we Truly think these guys would sneak around behind their canon partners' backs when all of them are extremely close friends with a high level of trust and commitment to each other.
would assuming that these extremely close friends have actually communicated with one another Exactly The Same Way They Do In The Canon Source Material perhaps cause less despair.....

Katara playfully splashes water at Aang, who responded by sulking in a brooding cave and then exploding lava in her face and storming off without any apology. From The Lost Adventures.
Golly gee why don't I want to ship such a wholesome wonderful healthy ship like this? Gee whiz, it's great Katara didn't end with Zuko, otherwise she might get lava thrown at her in an argument from an immature, emotionally unavailable, abusive jerk! /s Oh, right, Aang is the one who did that.
Aang has always been the one to hurt Katara. Funny Zuko hasn't. Remind me again who scarred Katara's hands, who blew up into the avatar state leaving Katara to pull him out lest he destroy her, her brother, and everything around him? Who stormed off right before the finale without communication leaving his friends to die in the invasion? Was it Zuko who did those things? Was it?
Such a wholesome ship!

i just learned that taylor’s infamous number of co2 emissions wasn’t even calculated correctly in the first article that was published and once they took into account the type of plane she was using and the number of flights she’d taken, her number dropped SIGNIFICANTLY. and you’ll never get me to care about a woman with multiple violent stalkers sending a cease and desist to someone—another rich person accused of using private jets himself!—for leaking her locations! that’s terrifying! furthermore she doesn’t even own one of the planes he’s tracking anymore, so not only is he leaking misinformation about her, he’s broadcasting the locations of the new owners. this whole discussion is so annoying because not only are these accusations false, nobody would give a shit if it wasn’t taylor. and i know that because none of the other celebrities who are guilty of using jets far more than she does is getting even a fraction of the backlash she is. if you hate her, just hate her. it’s ok. you don’t have to lie about her so you can feel morally superior for it.
(here’s how i found out about this, and here are other relevant sources)

at what point are we going to acknowledge that treating tommy like some evil sex perverted inappropriate predator for complimenting his boyfriend is. incredibly homophobic.

when you take a step back, it really is funny because the creator of the show said, "so, i'm pretty much writing this couple's story as a romcom," and a contingent of people still decided to say, "they're clearly MISERABLE!"

something something there's something to be said about the fact that the curator & the settings person both most often getting characterized antagonistically despite doing next to nothing in the game to the main characters;
the " worst " the museum curator does ( not influenced by the whole bucket thing, which often goes ignored anyway ) is ask that You, the player, spare both the narrator & stanley from their cycle & stop playing the game,
& the settings person is weaved through the in-game narrative revolving stanley's co-workers, at least SEEMINGLY, & really just happens to show up after the fall of everything to speak to you, THE PLAYER, keep the cycle going, improve your game experience - etc etc;
now i get why the settings person is villainized, kind of- it's because ONE person did it & they just so happened to be the person to draw attention TO the settings person's existence in the first place & now everyone wants to make their settings person an antagonist of some kind & usually a threat to the narrator, despite there really being NO substance canonically to back this up beyond them being a little cheeky & fucking with him gently,
but why the curator, when her sole purpose is to try & spare the characters of the game? do you hate women. is she getting in the way of your hot gay ship
do you guys not realize that villainizing them directly betrays their characterization, for as little that there is to present?
did you guys forget that the narrator seems to hold the majority of power in that game? & no- he's NOT the token bad guy either, nor is stanley.
this is not a game where there's a " bad guy, " there is only circumstances & people at odds with each other. why are we DESPERATE to portray any one of the characters as the root of all evil- BUT ESPECIALLY why are we painting the " side characters " as the villains here? answer me that;

side note: if you're ever at a con, or a panel/Q&A event of any kind, please don't be the person who tries to yell something funny and clever after everyone else has done cheering. please. the odds of you actually being funny are so low, and those of you just making everyone uncomfortable or annoyed or confused are so high... just cheer like everyone else and share your funny comment with your buddy next to you and if you really gotta interact with the people on stage you can do that in the autograph/photo op line like the rest of us.

i got a milkvan post on my “for you” talking about how bylers ignore Robin by overlooking the fact that shes a canon queer character, and that we should focus on her queer ship instead of byler. Ive been seeing a lot of similar arguments recently from all over the fandom and i think its interesting, because every byler ive interacted with wants rovickie canon (to my knowledge). we all know that the majority of bylers (especially on this app) are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. i think we can all agree that having a canon lesbian ship AND a canon gay ship in one of the MOST POPULAR shows of our time would be a huge win for the community. basically, im not sure where op was coming from, rovickie and byler endgame, and uhhh gay and lesbian rights and bi rights and such

the notes of that interview post are so funny btw. people who love bucktommy cheering. people who hate bucktommy also cheering. one of those people’s motivations for watching television is a joy for exploring character dynamics and development and excitement in watching plotlines unfold and one is not. not saying who.

I don’t think Dean is stupid—not At All—but people in this fandom trying to convince me he’s so so incredibly and obviously brilliant to the extent that Sam undervalues him Purposely to either squash his potential or bully him is crazy. Dean is absolutely coated in this ‘tired of hitting the books, let’s party’ persona from the jump, saying one thing about himself, and acting differently. Why can’t we focus on how sad it is that Dean feels the need to pretend to be dumber than he is? Because it’s a reputation he created and stuck to for himself all the way back in high school. It’s not a result of Sam. Even if Dean’s decision to not graduate was influenced by him playing caretaker, that is wholly John’s fault. ALSO, there isn’t some sort of superiority complex stemming from Sam having gone to college. I’m (pretty sure) Sam is the only person to actually call Dean a genius. He takes his advice on lore serious and his literary references at face value despite being comically surprised by them being made.
It feels like ppl are desperate hungry starving to find Something tragic about Dean to pin blame on Sam for in order to justify not liking him. It’s OK. You can be Dean-centric and dislike Sam. You don’t need a reason. You don’t need to find dirt on him. I grant you permission, Be Free

i wanna talk about how the drunk adora thing happens twice in the series, and they got it right the first time. in System Failure, it was actually kind of funny and cute. because it was an ACCIDENT. and if i remember correctly, adora wasn’t in as much pain when it happened the first time. she just passes out and then acts kind of silly when she wakes up. the difference is that no one infected her on purpose, no one was actively enjoying her pain or trying to control her and turn her into a weapon to kill her friends. it was very similar to the way willow acted in Understanding Willow or luz did after she got sick. basically, it was a bit of harmless fun with a character acting kind of drunk.
but then White Out rolls around and they bring back this adora in the worst way possible? by putting her through excruciating pain, by having catra enjoy seeing her scream in pain and try to murder her own friends, by putting bow and glimmer into a panic as they try to calm adora down and save her, and by having catra kidnap her after she passes out. and after all that, oh look! drunk adora is back, she’s so silly haha!
and none of this really matters. it’s never brought up again, it doesn’t really do anything for the plot. it’s just there as some good old torture pôrn. genuinely. wtf.
