One of my favorite trope for Steddie is Steve hunting down Eddie when the kids join Hellfire and giving him a long list of dos and donts.

At first Eddie thinks he’s just being a prick, and worried he’s going to turn the nerds into freaks like him. Especially when he says not to mention drugs in front of Dustin.

But then he starts pulling out lists of monsters that can’t be in campaigns. And like what??? Why can’t he use demagorgons? They were gonna be in the next combat! He’s tempted to ignore the warnings, in fact he’s all set to, but something about Steve’s face when he was laying it all out haunts him. Something so deadly serious about it. So first he decides to test the waters to see if he’s full of shit.

When the session starts, he makes a throwaway comment, “you’re acting like there’s a mindflayer around the corner.”

All the kids freeze but Wheeler especially looks like he’s going to be sick. He even grabs at the bracelet around his wrist. The one he always said his best friend made him before he moved.

Eddie curses himself for even trying to test it out after that, and immediately bullshits the whole session so he can scrap any hint of demogorgans from the campaign.

After that session he drives straight to Harringtons house and demands they go over all the things he can’t include again, in detail, while he takes notes.

He doesn’t know what’s going on with these freshmen, but he knows trauma when he sees it and well he’d gotten attached to the gremlins.

When he leaves that night, he thinks Steve is looking at him with approval. Like he trusts him with their well-being now.

Sometimes you just are trying to live out your day and then your brain thinks:

What if in the opening titles of Season 3 Aziraphale and Crowley aren’t walking together anymore.

No Place Like Home

Sometime after everything, Mobius ends up in Don’s place on the timeline and settles in. Loki is slowly but surely figuring out a way to leave the tree for longer periods of time. He wasn’t sure if Mobius would remember him, but loves him too much to stay away entirely even if he didn’t.

But Mobius does remember him, and his script flies out the window.

Bullet called the night she died. Angrily he had ignored it, scoffing as he puts his phone back in his pocket after he silenced it, memories of the day before where he had grabbed her by what felt like the scruff of her neck and thrown her outside of the station fresh in his mind, feeling anger coursing through his veins, causing a feeling similar to one that Meth had always given him.

‘I should’ve responded. I should’ve answered,’ he cried over and over, and Linden scurries to tell him it’s not his fault. He drunkenly sucks in breaths and tastes nothing but the burn of cigarette smoke in his mouth instead, the air polluted. His mind is destroying itself.

God fell asleep in the back seat. He does have a body on his grill.

He stands in the bathroom with the Sewerd kid, combing down his hair as he stands behind him, patiently using his hands gently to make sure he looks good enough for his father to see. He never gets there.

Caroline never knew about his addiction. Serenity is all he ever wanted. He wanted to be good, he tells her. ‘I wanted to be good.’

He chucks beer cans into the field full of un-marked graves next to the prison, his mind slowing down as he watches the liquid explode out of the thin metal, his arms tired from the smashing.

He talks to Kalies mom at the funeral, feeling like he had murdered Bullet with his own two hands. He feels thick matalic blood dripping off them as he sits in the pews. She died thinking he was mad at her. He could never be mad. Not at her. Not at Bullet. He visits her grave and traces her name that’s carved don’t the pretty white marble, placing her necklace ontop, knowing they she’d want that in the afterlife.

(‘What bullshit,’ he scoffs, trying to think of heaven for a girl who was always cast out. What bullshit.)

He walks away, leaving the grief of his past behind, but it follows him.

Imagine being a child, and your whole family dies, and it’s just you and your dad. And he starts locking himself in his office, claiming he has work to do, so you sit and you wait and you grieve. And then one day your mother is there like nothing ever happened, making breakfast and cleaning the house and homeschooling you just like she used to. And your dad is acting like this is completely normal. And this works for a while, but then this twisted version of your mom stops just cooking breakfast and cleaning the house and begins trying to have hobbies. And suddenly your mother is gone again and there is a new mom in the kitchen the next morning. And you realize that you will never get the closure of fully losing your mother, but you will also never get the satisfaction of having her back. And soon your mother, who used to adore you, is pampering these two new children that behave so well and aren’t sad and angry like the poor little .5. And you watch as every new version of your dead mother begins to view you with more and more disdain as you look into the lifeless eyes of a woman who used to sing you songs before bed every night, and you know there is no one who will ever believe you. Imagine being Timmy Trout.
