Okay but erasing Yuga's friends' memories, essentially resetting them to how they were when they were first introduced, and having an arc all about getting those memories back was such a cool way to do a final arc and show how far these characters have come. It probably should've been a penultimate arc to give both Yuga Goha and Otis the focus and respect they deserved as villains but I still really loved the final arc overall and don't think I gave it enough credit initially.

I KNEW IT!

Back when I first saw the episode, I did have a hunch. But that’s not good if you’re tone deaf and playing a guitar. You can only do one strum…and how do you know for sure (apart from using a tuner, cause I don’t like those things) that your guitar is in tune? And without help from anyone else? I know there are and have been talented musicians with disabilities now and in the past, but Romin’s case confuses me…

we have had aabria autumn on d20 since 2020, when she stole the show as myrtle in pirates of leviathan. you could feel her inhabiting that mermaid over a zoom screen. felt like i was watching a mermaid roll around in a life-size martini glass full of vodka with my own eyes.

then she changed the game with mismag in 2021, bringing kids on brooms, personalized props, lighting effects, and projections to the dome, after which she held it down as antiope jones. the reluctant leader, the late bloomer who is not late but merely arriving in her own time.

in 2022 she came back with kisses, with regency, with good society, with flowers and tokens and projections and a willingness to follow up on consequences that never stopped moving. wuvvy my beloved. kill me with the devotion of a life lived in service to the one you love why don’t you.

in 2023 she was the spiciest assassin. fit for the genre in fits for the genre. replacing skalds like she was born to do it. and then burrow’s end. a genre exploration with a splash of the violence of dnd and the tragicomedy of family. beautiful sets, incredible audiovisual effects, and horror both visceral and cosmic.

in 2024? she’s back with wizards baby. she’s taking a 4 episode jaunt of americans becoming wizards in britain and making an adventure of eleven episodes. planets move, the dm screen talks, and the wind is on the rise.

aabria adds such a fun, artistic, genre-bending, cinematic flavor to her time in the dome; it’s no wonder that the Q4 mid-length season is hers.

Oh my god. The tears in Luke’s eyes when Percy says the betrayal line. The desperate pleading for them to run away. That he doesn’t want to hurt Percy. The tears in Percy’s eyes. The fear and shaking. Percy apologizing for actually hurting him. The look of horror on Luke’s face as Annabeth comes in. How horrified he looks when he looks down at Percy, who he HURT. The realization that Percy won’t join, and the equaled horror of hurting a twelve year old child.

Then he runs.

"In Jamil's dream, Kalim won't exist. "In Jamil's dream, HE'LL be housewarden and Kalim will be his servant." Actually I think he's too codependent for all that, maybe he just wants a break and a fruity drink and then he'll be right back on his grind. That's my theory, anyway.

Every other day I think about the Sevens timeskip because like. Mimi gained enough trust from the Goha’s to become Vice president. All Gohas but Yuo are security and Yuga Goha is cool with them. Gakuto lost the election to fucking Asana. Roa hasn’t changed as a person and Getta got twinked. Romin is suddenly horrible at understanding people and is kinda a jerk to Luke. Tiger is still a bitch to Luke. Luke has depression and spends most of his days staring at the sky. Nail got really into architecture. Yuo got really into space. What the fuck is going on???

Oops. Found a big problem with the Sevens dub: In the original, Yuga Goha loved duelling so much that he hated losing to the point of adopting a "I'll destroy them before they destroy me" mindset.

The dub removed the episode that explained his backstory and reduced his motivation to "just wanting chaos."

It's obviously far from the worst change a Yugioh dub has made but it does make Yuga Goha far less compelling in my opinion and is probably the worst thing about this otherwise pretty solid dub for me, at least so far. Here's to hoping the rest of the final arc doesn't do anything worse.

takeaway from this post: yuuga is very SRM-like. just not many notice. makes sense why his id card was used for SRM and not not used at all. everyone forgets about majin yuga from 66 hhh he'll never be used ever again
