"why are you making fun of christianity! if people said the same thing about islam, suddenly there would be an issue!" sweetheart, out of 10 posts about islam, nine of them are about how every single muslim in the world rapes/terrorizes/bombs/kills every non-muslim they see. clearly, people are somehow allowed to think the worse of islam.

Idk what people think the point of Ruthven is...
#logxx#Like they're very obviously foils in that Ruthven as a young man has the same ideals and way of interacting w the world as Noé...#And over a lengthy period of time gradually morally degenerates both bc his ideals are incompatible w reality#And bc he is a person and not a perfect moral entity and thus acts cruelly and irrationally out of emotion#But then again I think people literally don't understand that Ruthven is a rapist so.

I’m genuinely getting so angry and upset at the comments and dms I’m receiving on Instagram being like “oh so when musicians and actors endorse Kamala it’s fine but when the president of the Fia endorses Trump it’s a problem?”
Like wow. It’s almost as if all art is a reflection of current events and culture as well as the feeling regarding them and can in fact be used as an act of protest. It’s crazy that any artist would express opinions about a current world shifting political event!
Like the thing you have to consider here is that Muhammad Ben Sulayem has consistently made a point to highlight that “politics have no place in this sport.” He has gone far enough to threaten to punish Lewis Hamilton for speaking out about BLM and also threatened Seb for speaking out about Pride. It’s also worth noting that the artists who endorsed Kamala are separate from the corporate entities and are speaking as individuals. MBS is speaking while he is the acting president of the FIA, an organization that represents ever y race creed and religion of the drivers. By endorsing Donald Trump, a rapist fascist and war criminal, and by posting a photo of them shaking hands in front of the McLaren Logo he has isolated his drivers! He has acted out in representation of the fia! He cannot separate himself from his role as FIA president because as long as he is on track or in the paddock he must be that.
Obviously this is a deeply complicated issue but acting as if MBS suddenly bring politics into the sport he has time and time again insisted “has no place in politics” isn’t deeply selfish, irresponsible and as if it hasn’t spit on everything some of the drivers, namely Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel have taken stands for. It’s very clear that politics are only allowed when it benefits his agenda but it’s very, very disappointing.
#I’m just so mad#let’s use critical thinking guys#also if you voted for trump genuinely get off my blog lol.#I dont care about you. I hope you suffer just as much as the rest of us#and I hope you feel terrible about yourself because you should!#luckily for me I am an individual not attached to any corporate entity so I will say that politics DOES have a place on my blog.#and I’ll also say#fuck donald trump#I’m so tired#it’s just so disgusting#even without the whole other layer of who Trump is it’s just deeply hypocritical and I would be pissed if i was a driver#f1#formula 1#f1blr#formulanni#us elections#kamala harris#Muhammad Ben sulayem#fuck the fia#fia#mbs

Randomly thinking about grrm’s deconstruction of knighthood in asoiaf and how ironic it is that the Night’s Watch - an organization known to be half full of murderers, rapists, thieves, and all sorts of criminals - is essentially in charge of defending all of humanity when shit hits the fan. Like westeros just scrambled ‘the lowest of the low’ together into a penal colony in the far north and is totally fine depending on them for their survival; though tbf, i guess part of it has to do with expecting these societal ‘others’ to give their not so valuable lives for the good of the realm, who really cares if they live or die because they’re out of sight and out of mind. And it’s kinda funny too when we factor in the kingsguard because it’s a far more respected institution than the NW presently, but it too has its fair share of monsters. Quite a few men of the kingsguard have been morally bankrupt individuals, and we even see how the men of the KG sometimes forget other people they should be responsible for because their one priority is the king (we see what happens when you put the people of the realm first and then are ostracized by it a la Jaime tho there’s more to it). Missing the forest for the tree is something both institutions share, making them quite similar. So it’s interesting how grrm flips the fantasy classic of the black knight vs the white knight. The black knight is often anti-heroic, if not straight up villainous, and is often made to be diametrically opposed to the valiant and ever good white knight. But asoiaf has white and black knights both be shown of great virtue and great vice. The white knights in this story really are no better than the black knights. I’d love to see how these two entities could intersect, i.e., what happens when a white knight eventually changes his cloak for a black one (*cough* Jaime *cough*) and how that falls into grrm’s deconstruction of the romance of chivalry, the extent of personal heroism, and perceived knightly virtue. Welp I don’t even know what point I’m trying to make anymore, I just wanted to talk about the KG and the NW because they’re really cool.
#asoiaf really really is for the arthuriana girlies I tell you what#like the entire concept of knighthood in asoiaf being steeped in deconstructions of arthurian legend#we got galahad and lancelot and everything else#galahad is an example of a traditional white knight but his asoiaf parallels are the black knight jon snow and the not even a knight brienn#it’s really cool#and it’s also cool how black knights and white knights both can be admired but there are darker elements in both#as jon and bran eventually find out#asoiaf#valyrianscrolls#the night's watch#the kingsguard

The ways Zeus is characterised in ancient sources is ~ fascinating ~ to me.
The overbearing patriarch of the Iliad who keeps his godly family in check with constant threats of abuse and domestic violence. The conciliatory diplomat of the Odyssey, acquiescent to the desires and honours of his fellow deities. The ideal king of the Theogony, commonly elected, virtuous alloter of good and evil. The frightened tyrant, the cruel tormentor of Prometheus Bound. The all-encompassing orphic entity, who swallowed down and brought forth and is the entirety of the cosmos. The enigmatic, ambivalent, and sometimes undignified figure who refuses to appear on stage. The embodiment of righteousness, of majesty, the ultimate good, the promoter and dispenser of justice, the adulterer, the rapist, the upholder of oaths who perjures himself in the name of "love".
Above all the mastermind, the constant plotter, whose plan and will [Διὸς βουλή] permeate greek literature from epic to philosophy, whether it be synonymous with fate or not.
This is why I generally dislike simplistic takes on him. Sure, almost any way you choose to characterise him will probably have a sourced basis, his multifaceted "identity" almost guarantees it. But the massive loss of complexity is so disappointing imo.
#zeus#evidently it's impossible to reconcile every facet#nor would I want to see a rapist who embodies goodness and virtue#but maybe something other than cartoonish villain or sex joke or literally Jesus Christ#still I can understand he can be a very difficult character to portray#there's as many dimensions to him as the are conceptions of power#greek mythology#greek myths#greek gods#tagamemnon#hellenic deities

'Children Are Not Mothers': What is at stake with Brazil bill that equates abortion after 22 weeks of pregnancy to homicide
A bill signed by 32 deputies intends to equate any abortion performed in Brazil after 22 weeks of pregnancy with the crime of homicide.
The rule would even apply to cases in which the procedure is authorized by Brazilian legislation, such as pregnancy resulting from rape.
Bill 1904/2024, whose first author is congressman Sóstenes Cavalcante (Liberal Party - Rio de Janeiro), adds a few paragraphs to four articles of the Brazilian Penal Code, which was established in 1940.
Article 124 of the Civil Code, for example, already establishes as a crime "causing oneself to have an abortion or allowing someone else to do so."
But, according to the new proposal being discussed in the Chamber of Deputies, "when there is fetal viability, presumed in pregnancies over 22 weeks, the penalties will be applied in accordance with the crime of simple homicide."
On Wednesday night (June 12th, 2024), Brazil's Chamber of Deputies approved the urgency regime for processing the project, which was requested by congressman Eli Borges (LIberal Party - Tocantins) — who also signed the document.
This means that the proposal can be voted directly by the plenary of the Chamber, without the need for debates and opinions in thematic committees of Congress.
With this, the Plenary can vote on the project in the coming days. The urgent request was included on the agenda by the President of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (Progressive Party - Aladoas).
Victims of violence
Bill 1904/2024 intends to change some articles of the Penal Code, with the aim of preventing any abortion from occurring when the pregnancy exceeds 22 weeks.
Currently, Brazilian law allows abortion in three situations:
When the pregnancy is the result of rape;
If the pregnancy poses a risk to the woman’s life;
If the fetus is anencephalic, a condition characterized by the absence of the brain and skullcap.
In an article published on the website of the Brazilian Center for Health Studies (Cebes), doctor Ana Costa, executive director of the institution, classifies the bill as "a reissue of the 'Rapist Statute', which obliges women to become pregnant as a result of rape under penalty of imprisonment".
Cebes also highlights that late access to legal abortion "reflects inequality and inequity in health care, particularly impacting children (10-14 years old), poor women, black women, and those living in rural areas."
A group of 18 entities in the sector came together to create the "Children Are Not Mothers" campaign, which characterizes the changes proposed in the law as the "Child Pregnancy Bill".
According to the creators of the movement, the change in legislation will mainly harm children under 14 years of age, who represent the largest group that needs abortion services after the third trimester.
According to them, in this age group — in which any pregnancy is the result of presumed rape — it takes longer to discover or even identify a pregnancy.
Furthermore, in two thirds of cases, the perpetrator of the rape is from the girl's own family — which inhibits the victim from seeking health services or reporting the crime to authorities in the first weeks of pregnancy.
The campaign also highlights that the eventual change in the law will mean that those involved in abortion could be convicted of the crime of simple homicide, with a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
Meanwhile, the legislation establishes a sentence of around 10 years — or half the time — for the crime of rape.
According to the Brazilian Public Security Yearbook, 74,930 people were raped in Brazil in 2022. Of these, 88.7% of the victims were female and around 60% were at most 13 years old.
DataSUS reports that, in 2019, around 70 pregnancies were legally terminated in Brazilian children and adolescents under the age of 14.
The campaign warns that, if approved, the project "will force girls who are victims of violence to continue their pregnancy" and this will mean a setback "to the sexual and reproductive rights guaranteed by law since 1940."
What supporters of the bill say
The project being discussed in the Chamber argues that the Penal Code, established in 1940, does not establish this limit of 22 weeks because "a last-trimester abortion was an unthinkable reality [at that time] and, if it were possible, no one would call it an abortion, but homicide or infanticide".
The text of the project also argues that "to grant women the right to terminate pregnancy, regardless of gestational age, and whatever the weight of the unborn child, it was necessary to subvert the basic principles of the Rule of Law, the same ones that gave rise to to American Independence and modern democracy."
According to the deputies' proposal, people involved in an abortion after 22 weeks of gestation — such as the woman and the health professional — can be convicted of the crime of simple homicide.
Currently, sentences for simple homicide in Brazil range from 6 to 20 years in prison.
On social media, congressman Sóstenes Cavalcante wrote that Bill 1904 "aims to consider late-term abortion as homicide, reinforcing the protection of life from conception."
The project was filed on May 17th. That same day, the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, had suspended a resolution from the Federal Council of Medicine (CFM) that prohibited the so-called fetal asystole.
This procedure, recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the stages of abortion resulting from rape in the last trimester of pregnancy, uses medications to stop the fetal heartbeat before it is removed from the uterus.
According to Moraes, the CFM resolution exceeded the regulatory competence of the council and imposed "both on the medical professional and the pregnant victim of rape a restriction of rights not provided for by law capable of creating concrete and significantly worrying embarrassments for women's health" .
The STF minister also recalled that Brazilian legislation does not stipulate any "circumstantial, procedural, or temporal" limitations for carrying out the abortion provided for by law.
Moraes's decision was preliminary and will be discussed in the future in the Supreme Court plenary. The CFM also appealed the minister's opinion.

This is the society we are talking about.
It's not about female doctors getting raped
It's about womens going through all this
"The entity - the gender from everyone takes birth is in danger" should be enough for our government and society to take action against these rapists
Some fuckers in this society have guts to say things like:
"Her rapists were so lucky, I wish I could have been in those 8 - 9 ppl"
"She wasn't even pretty and 10 men raped her, where are men's standards ?"
I have been seeing so many ppl asking for justice for that female doctor like almost in millions
But if in exchange of that doctor there was a sex worker or a girl with onlyfans account then maybe no one would have spoken for her justice...
Why ? Becauase She have a vulgar job or because she is used to it?
When there is someone speaking for them then there are some assholes who go like
"She could have done some respectful job then maybe she wouldn't have gone through all this"
"That was her own choice to get in such work..."
And what not....
This is the society we are talking bout.
After reposting these stories on thier social media they all are back on showing their lively life while partying and what not
And you say 'we stand united'
Stand United where? In clubs?while backbitching about a girl's hair? While driving your cars of which you post stories continuosly?
Today in my coaching there was this boy who was posting bout speaking against rapist on his social media
And in class he and his friends even female Friends were bitching bout some girls who have done nothing but have those facial and physical features since birth
This is the society we are talking bout.
Reblog this as much as you can..so you can spread the word. Only if you are really honestly share the empath and actually are concerned

I'm transmasc and I don't think I completely understand the discussion around TMA/TME.
I'm pretty sure I mostly agree with you. Like, "transandrophobia" is not a helpful or accurate description of the transmasc experience, and I can see how it could be used to belittle what transfems go through.
Transfems definitely get more attention from hate groups. Transmasc erasure sucks, but it can definitely be a blessing when the bigots are picking their targets.
I keep seeing posts comparing trans men to incels and MRAs. I haven't seen many transmascs who would warrant that comparison.
That's not to say it's necessarily an unfair comparison. On the contrary, it probably means that there's a lot of transmisogyny going around that I'm not seeing. And if I'm not seeing it, that probably means I'm inadvertently participating in it.
IDK why I felt the need to send this to you. I guess I was hoping you'd tell me how to do better, which totally isn't your job. Feel free to ignore me and/or tell me to fuck off.
I'll send you $20 for tolerating my bullshit. Have a nice day.
Ok I wanna answer this before I get too high (I'm honestly feeling it already). Thank you for the $20, when I realized I forgot to pack a lunch today that money helped me eat still so legit thank you.
So first off, "trans women get more attention from hate groups, transmasc erasure sucks but can be a blessing." (I can't copy and paste on this screen, so I'm paraphrasing) yes but I wouldn't call erasure a blessing, no matter who it's for. They're two sides of a very fucked coin, on the one side transfems get lots of attention and vitriol, and the erasure of transmascs makes it harder for some transmascs to understand they can be trans. But on top of that, the form of transfems we see are never real representation, 99% of the time it's a transmisogynistic ideal of trans women, it's the weirdo white boy spreading lipstick all over their face just before they smash the mirror in a fit of "dysphoria" kind of shit. Though transfems have extreme visibility, our actual selves are not visible, we are ultra violet rapist horn dogs or we're the super ignorant, super emotional crybaby.
And, a side tangent, cuz you sorta did a thing the transandrodorks do that is frustrating. It's not a measurement of what's "worse." That's not how oppression works, that's not what we are saying, we are talking about the forms of oppression.
Men are not oppressed for being men. They can be oppressed for a variety of things, racism, ableism, interphobia (is this the right term I forget), homophobia, etc etc. Masculinity is rewarded, masculinity is the desire, patriarchy exists so men get to be above women. Things like "misandry" do not exist, they are inventions of violently misogynistic men, your MRAs, your incels, your conservatives (this includes liberals btw).
The person who coined "transandrophobia" used to talk about wanting to correctively rape lesbians. I'm not gonna go at someone's kinks, but the blog was not presented as a kink blog, I literally went there myself and read the posts when this first popped off and they come off as true lesbophobia in the context of their blog and coupled with the misandry posting, this person literally looks like MRAs and incels. The defense the community uses is "it's a kink are you kink shaming?? It was on a private locked blog!" Which, the latter, no it wasn't, I literally went there and looked, and the former. Idk I think if you're saying you want correctively rape lesbians while also talking about misandry and counting "transandrophobia," you look misogynistic and homophobic.
The main writers people follow for transandrophobia related content are straight up liars, who make shit up, and one specific non horse entity consistently cites himself as his own "source" and when he doesn't, he cites terf blogs that are connected to kiwifarms and sites of the sort. They will take bits talked about in feminism and present it as a thing they discovered and present it as transandrophobia. Ie. "Men can't show any femininity and can't cry and that's misandry" despite things like this are discussed at length in feminist texts, men can't do these things cuz that makes them more "woman" in the societal lens. Yeah it's fucked, but it's misogyny, not misandry.
I am, consistently, misgendered by the transandrodorks, and so is every other trans woman that disagrees with them. And it's definitely intentional.
Then there are token trans women who don't know much of anything about feminism or transphobia and will straight up harass you for saying women are oppressed. They often weaponize transmisogyny against other transfems, they misgender, suicide bait, or in velvetvexations case, will stalk your blog for two days even though you ignore her and when she's sees you're on a date with your wife, she goes to your wife's blog and starts messaging her instead. Legit, this woman is one of the worst people on this website, the only reason she's not seen as communismkills 2 is cuz men like her.
On top of this, terfs consistently support "transandrophobia" as a concept and constantly say that transandrophobia is compatible with terf ideology. The transandrodork community is ripe with terfs and crypto terfs. Like that one who said he hoped a friend and I get raped, cuz saying "men arent oppressed" warrants wishing rape on people. Or the trans guy that outright said "trans women are male" and tripled down harder saying "trans women don't experience misogyny and oppress transmascs cuz they're really men," claims that were so wild that even velvetvexations couldn't agree with them lol.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: not every person that believes in transandrophobia is a bigot or a bad person. A lot are just young transmascs who are under read about oppression and history, and this terf/transphobe community swoops in and pretends to be representing them and sucks them in. For every disparaging transmisogynist piece, there's two more that are talking about the problems of transmascs. So when you tell these guys "that's a hate group" they don't remember the post calling trans women men, they remember stuff about T being super illegal. So they think we are attacking them for having a problem, not the actual bigotry on display.
Honestly, if these people would just stop misgendering trans women, they might have more trans women who'd be nice to em. But that's the consistent trend.
Transandrophobia is a violent, transmisogynistic ideology that is propped up by terf ideology. That's why they are compared to MRAs and incels.

The sex-based apartheid against women in Afghanistan cannot be reduced to, "Afghan men saw Afghan women enjoying freedom and got mad, so they established extremist religious governments to stop it." I am really tired of seeing this misconception and oversimplification spread around by leftists, liberals and feminists – it's racist, and simply not fucking true.
The majority of Afghans want a secular government and for the oppression of women to end. The Taliban represent a minority of Afghanistan's people. The deterioration of Afghan society – in particular, women's rights and freedoms – directly results from decades of foreign intervention, imperialism and occupation. Afghans did not destroy Afghanistan, the United States did, and the USSR paved the way for them to do so.
Had Afghanistan never been treated like a pawn in the games played by imperialistic powers, had we not been reduced to resources, strategic importance and a tool for weakening the enemy, extremism would have never come to power.
An overview of Afghanistan's recent history:
The USSR wanted to incorporate Afghanistan into Soviet Central Asia and did so by sabotaging indigenous Afghan communist movements and replacing our leaders with those loyal to the USSR. The United States began funding and training Islamic extremists – the Mujahideen – to fight against the Soviet influence and subsequent invasion, and to help the CIA suppress any indigenous Afghan leftist movements. Those Mujahideen won the war, and then spent the next decade fighting for absolute control over Afghanistan.
During that time period, known as the Afghan Civil War, the Mujahideen became warlords, each enforcing their own laws on the regions they controlled. Kabul was nearly destroyed, and the chaos, destruction and death was largely ignored by the United States despite being the ones who caused and empowered it. This civil war era created the perfect, unstable environment needed to give a fringe but strong group like the Taliban a chance to rise to power. And after two decades of war, a singular entity taking control and bringing 'peace' was enticing to all Afghans, even if their views were objectively more extreme than what we had been enduring up to that point.
When the United States invaded Afghanistan in 2001, they allied with the same warlords that had been destroying our country the decade prior and whom they had rallied against the Soviets – these are the people that made up the Northern Alliance. The 'good guys' that America gave us were rapists, pillagers, and violent extremists, no better than the Taliban. And that's not even mentioning the horrible atrocities and war crimes committed by American forces themselves.
So, no, Afghan men did not collectively wake up one day and decide that women had too much freedom and rush to establish an extremist government overnight. No, this is not to excuse the misogyny of men in our society – the extremists had to already exist for Americans to fund and arm them against the Soviets – but rather to redirect the bulk of this racist blame to the actual culprits. The religious extremism and sex-based apartheid would not be oppressing and murdering us today if they hadn't been funded and supported by the United States of America thirty years ago. And despite all the abuses and restrictions, many Afghan women prefer the Taliban's current government to another American occupation. I felt safer walking in Taliban-controlled Kabul than I did being 'randomly searched' (sexually assaulted) by American military police in my village as a child.
Imperialism is inextricably linked with patriarchal violence and women's oppression. You cannot talk about the deterioration of Afghanistan without talking about the true cause of said decline: The United States of America. Americans of all political views, including leftists and feminists, are guilty of reducing or outright ignoring Western responsibility for female oppression in the Global South, finding it much easier to place all blame on the foreign brown man or our supposedly backwards, savage cultures, when the most responsibility belongs with Western governments and their meddling games that forced the most violent misogynists among us into power.
(Most of this information comes from my own experience living as an Afghan Hazara woman in Afghanistan, but Bleeding Afghanistan: Washington, Warlords and the Propaganda of Silence covers this in much more detail. If you want more on the Soviet-Afghan war and Afghanistan's socialist history, Revolutionary Afghanistan is an English-language source from a more leftist perspective)

oh em gee i got this banger idea like yesterday and i am so surprised that i have never seen any other person contemplate it but like,,, death note au where when ryuk drops the notebook to the human world, mikami picks it up instead of light. i have been thinking about this all day and i am back now with Ideas. everything is under the cut because it's going to be such a long post, i just know it.
imagine now, if you will, teru mikami who is twenty one years old. a law student, in his fourth year of university, on a full scholarship. he is a pretty lonely person, he lives alone in his dorm and is a very bright and talented student. he is on track to be an accomplished lawyer. like canon mikami, he has a very rigid sense of justice, all people are either good or bad, and bad people must be elimanted. he plans to do just that once he becomes a prosecutor.
it's all going fine. but then, of course, ryuk drops the notebook and he ends up finding it. the notebook falls to the courtyard of his university and mikami had been on his daily walks before class when he comes across it and picks it up. he was going to ignore it at first but after he takes a moment to examine it, he is a little apprehensive about it. leaving something like that lying around? bad idea. he doesn't believe in its powers at first and the first week or so, he doesn't even use it. he keeps it in his drawer and decides to just focus on his studies and classes. he dismisses it as some sort of joke item, he means to throw it away soon but he keeps forgetting to.
but after a week or so, ryuk shows up. ryuk would be a lot less keen on mikami than he was with light because like light to him, was interesting. light was raking up like a hundred deaths in the span of five days while mikami has zero. ryuk is kinda disappointed but he dropped the notebook, so there is nothing he can really do about it. ryuk ends up coaxing mikami to try it out, just to see what happens. mikami is a little hesitant, but now that he has seen ryuk and now knows that shinigami exist, the notebook must be real too, as far fetched as it is. he tries a similar approach to light to test it out, he writes the name of a criminal who is being broadcasted on tv. and as expected, the criminal dies and the notebook is real.
mikami does the same thing that light does, that is, target criminals with the most heinous crimes on their records. murderers, rapists, terrorists, anyone he considers to be evil, bad, and the scum of society. how he does it is slightly different though, he is much more methodical about it. he allocates a set amount of hours every single day where he will sit down and write names. he sticks to it, he never writes a name out of his fixed time.
he takes the shinigami eyes deal pretty early on: light's reasoning for why he doesn't take the eyes is because he wants to actually be alive to control the new world that he has made. mikami does not have such motivations. that is the most important thing that sets 1st kira!mikami apart from canon light – mikami has no personal motives to his death note usage like light does. light wants to rid the world of evil, yes, but first and foremost, he wants to be God. mikami only wants the former, all he wants is justice and the world where there's just good people. he is not as 'corrupted' as light is, if that even is the right word???? mikami truly believes that what he is doing is the most morally right thing, he has no other motivation like light does. so, he is not really scared of his lifespan being cut in half. what he wants is to achieve his goals, and he doesn't mind being a martyr about it.
of course, everyone catches on that all the criminal deaths are the doing of one entity, who is called kira by the public. another key different, mikami is 10000x less conspicuous than light. light 's thing is that his dad is the head of the kira case while mikami has no such connections like that. so nobody even thinks to suspect him. L, who takes up the kira case just like in canon, doesn't even think to suspect mikami since he is just a random university student studying law. raye penber and naomi thing never happens because he is never even trailed in the first place, light was trailed because L had made the conclusion that kira has to be connected to the task force in some way. so, since mikami is just Some Guy, that whole thing doesn't happen.
i would argue that the lind l tailor thing doesn't happen either. i don't think L would find substantial evidence that kira is in fact from the kanto region but if by chance, it did happen, mikami wouldn't have killed tailor. light is impulsive, he is hot headed while mikami is cool, not necessarily more calculative than light is but he doesn't rely on his own emotions much. he probably wouldn't have come to the conclusion that televised L was a decoy, he just wouldn't care enough to kill tailor. frustrated, yes, but he wouldn't write his name in a fit of rage. he knows that there would be opposition but he believes that what he is doing is right. his only priority is his goals, he isn't really focused on getting rid of opposition.
so all in all, he makes a great kira since no one suspects him and he manages to do his job just fine. but that is not to say that it's all perfect because i think mikami has one big, giant, colossal problem that light had never really had to face and that is ryuk. because you see, ryuk dropped the notebook in hopes for some fun, something interesting happening. mikami is a poor person for that. sure, mikami does the same thing as light does which is kill criminals but ryuk is more interested in light. light does his thing with a flair, he has that added wish to be god as well. but mikami on the other hand, ryuk finds him boring. extremely predictable, mikami takes 0 risks. all he does is just write some names, there isn't even the L vs kira thing to keep ryuk interested. ryuk is like extremely tempted to just write mikami's name and kill him off.
but that's when light comes in. light has heard of this kira, someone who kills criminals and apparently has the same views of justice that he does. light is desperate to find him and is completely obsessed too, trying to track kira down. he would like to be allies and he thinks he might be of great help to kira, whoever that is. he even succeeds in it in some way, managing to find mikami and conclude that he is the kira that he is looking for (this is where the mikalight comes in).
light approaches mikami one day, knowing without a shadow of a doubt that mikami is kira but doesn't let mikami know that he thinks that. they get to talking, like discussing about their views on justice and good and evil. it just makes light more sure that he has the right person. for mikami, it's refreshing to talk to someone who thinks like him and he cannot help but be so charmed by him. but in the end, light drops the bombshell that he knows that mikami is kira but he is like don't worry i am like a huge fan and mikami is like. nervous but he is like okay. light tells him that he wants to work with him, help him achieve his goal. light is not beneath using his good look and charm to manipulate mikami as well, even though it's just a little different since mikami is a man. by the end of it, mikami is more relaxed and he is just falling for light's charms more and more. a likeminded individual, handsome and charming, someone who wants to help him.
light wants to know how exactly mikami kills. eventually mikami tells him about the notebook, even shows it to him and light is already hatching his plans. he wants to steal the notebook, keep it for himself. light is light in every universe, he wants to take mikami's role as kira and become the god of the new world. he even succeeds in convincing mikami to "lend" it to him and begins to use it for a little bit.
misa still very much exists 10000%. she gets the death note, her parents are dead and mikami had killed her parents' murderer. so now, misa is now grateful to mikami and attaches herself to him, instead of going after light. sure, light is conventionally attractive and they have crossed paths but mikami is now her no1. mikami is more uncomfortable than annoyed, he is a lot more antisocial than light is and all of this attention is just so unfamiliar to him. and since mikami has the eyes for himself, he has no need for her like light did and even so, he would be so unwilling to manipulate her for his own gain.
L comes along as well and i think the way he catches on finally is because of one of light's mistakes when mikami was lending the notebook to him. he clocks light as kira and mikami as the accomplice instead of the other way around. the memory loss thing still happens where mikami and misa lose their memory while light still remembers because he never had a notebook in the first place. confinement arc happens where light, mikami and L are chained together (this is where the mikalawlight happens. mikalawlight is actually my otp, like my most favorite thing)
that is all the ideas i have for now,,, this post better not flop. please please please feel free to add on !!!!

To clarify it for my own mind: during the course of their fight (in which Phaya is holding his own) the rapist killer rips off Phaya's amulet. Once that protection is gone, a supernatural entity (probably the Naga King) possesses the killer and levels him up. Phaya gets his ass handed to him and is about to be stabbed when Tharn leaps in to protect him once again. Tharn gets stabbed instead, but his vest protects him somewhat so it's not as severe. Then Tharn punches the entity-possessed-killer with his own amulet and essentially exorcises the entity. Killer man is knocked out and doesn't remember anything that happened when he was possessed.
Later, the Suspicious Dr Slow Motion shows up to check on Tharn but is dismissed by Phaya who's staying the night. Phaya is now wearing his protective amulet again, and when he touches the Doctor's shoulder the Doctor's eyes turn green and his skin is burned where Phaya touched him. Back in the privacy of his own car Slow Motion sounds as if he knows what's going on and is not surprised by any of the supernatural stuff happening. Even the monk says Phaya and Slow Motion should stay away from each other (and we know he's rooting for Phaya to free Tharn from his bad karma). I'm thinking these are clues that the Doctor isn't human, but is a Naga (probably the Naga King) since nagas can shapeshift.

Some people just really like to cherry pick stuff.
But Archer Gil is a rapist and misogynist and murderer and sadist and yada yada. Yes, we know. Thank you for reminding us about that.
And it's totally okay to like caster Gil and hate archer Gil and I totally understand that but pretending like they are different entities and saying this one is holy and this one is pure devil is just a total bs. We're saying these things not to shit on caster Gil lovers or to shit on caster Gil himself, we just want to show you that they are one and the same person with their pluses and minuses. Because most of people that love caster Gilgamesh fully shitting on archer Gilgamesh while completely ignoring his positive traits and his development as a character and only focusing on these few lines that he said when Nasu didn't care about Gilgamesh as a character and just made him being this terrible creep and asshole that anyone can hate. So, yeah.... thank you for coming to my small TED talk.
#also I don't really understand how can you like a character while pretending to not seeing his negative traits as well#because to me if you want to accept the character you love then you must do it fully and accept all of his aspects good and bad#my ramblings#txt#rant post#i guess

The Gods' myths sometimes include horrific or immoral aspects. That doesn't mean we should behave as if those myths dont exist!
(A Pagan perspective)
(tw: sa, misogyny)
When we are faced with myths that no longer fit in modern moral views (such as so much SA in Greek mythology alone there's a whole Wikipedia page on it) we should not shy away! Even if we don't like or approve of it, it's a part of the Gods' history and mythos.
All mythology is written by humans, and as such is unavoidably a product of its time. The way that anyone (including modern pagans) interprets the Gods as entities, or any interaction with them, is limited within our own culture, time period, and personal beliefs. By examining both the beliefs of the present and the past, we can decide for ourselves how we see the Gods while considering the context their myths were written in.
Even within one time period or similar group of people, such as modern pagans today, interpretations of the Gods can vary widely.
Zues is a cheating rapist. He is also a powerful god of the skies, lightning, and order.
Lucifer is literally the devil. An evil liar full of sins. And yet he is enlightening, independent, and honest.
Freyja is constantly associated (some say reduced) to sex. She uses her body for her gain, and is quite canonically called a slut. At the same time, she's the goddess of women! Of female power, both in mental skill and physical strength. She leads the Valkyries.
Loki is dark and deceptive, bringer of Ragnarok-- and he's a deity of change and freedom.
And neither is wrong. In mythology, both are true.
The Gods, all their aspects, and all the texts we have of them are complicated, complex, multifaceted, and interpretive- of course, there will be various understandings within pagan practices. No one view is superior to the other. Our understandings all exist on a scale, or rather some sort of mashup, of how important and what importance we attribute to various myths and aspects of deities.
When I worshipped Hera, I did so in two 'versions'. 1. Hera as resistance against men and abuse. I found solace and connection with her in powerful womanhood and female rage. I prayed to her before attending a pro-choice rally. And 2. Hera as a symbol of deep love, power, and marriage, and commitment. I lit her candle when my partner was over or when I needed a confidence boost.
These aspects never felt conflicting to me. Separate, maybe (I certainly wasn't thinking of any cheating or abuse in mythology as overlapping with the love and commitment)- but just part of one THING. Of Hera and everything surrounding her.
To many other deities of various 'immoral' aspects, these conflicting elements aren't just both present but often integral to their presence and worship.
Lucifer is often worshipped in rebellion. In healing from oppressive Christianity and finding light and understanding in that darkness.
Freyja is sexual! One of her many aspects. (which by the way, should not be seen as immoral. looking at yall, bs tumblr feminists) There is pleasure, joy, and power to be found in reclaiming that part of women we are told is shameful.
Loki is so much at once. He is outcast and destructive, and within that he spurs necessary change and chaos. So many pagans look to her as a symbol of queerness in the broadest sense and in facing the necessary chaos of growth.
TLDR: Don't just ignore aspects of mythology that feel uncomfortable (obviously unless something like trauma is involved). There is a lot to learn both from understanding the time and context their myths were written in as well as self-reflection on how certain myths or aspects of deities fit (or don't fit) within your practice.
