I’m genuinely getting so angry and upset at the comments and dms I’m receiving on Instagram being like “oh so when musicians and actors endorse Kamala it’s fine but when the president of the Fia endorses Trump it’s a problem?”
Like wow. It’s almost as if all art is a reflection of current events and culture as well as the feeling regarding them and can in fact be used as an act of protest. It’s crazy that any artist would express opinions about a current world shifting political event!
Like the thing you have to consider here is that Muhammad Ben Sulayem has consistently made a point to highlight that “politics have no place in this sport.” He has gone far enough to threaten to punish Lewis Hamilton for speaking out about BLM and also threatened Seb for speaking out about Pride. It’s also worth noting that the artists who endorsed Kamala are separate from the corporate entities and are speaking as individuals. MBS is speaking while he is the acting president of the FIA, an organization that represents ever y race creed and religion of the drivers. By endorsing Donald Trump, a rapist fascist and war criminal, and by posting a photo of them shaking hands in front of the McLaren Logo he has isolated his drivers! He has acted out in representation of the fia! He cannot separate himself from his role as FIA president because as long as he is on track or in the paddock he must be that.
Obviously this is a deeply complicated issue but acting as if MBS suddenly bring politics into the sport he has time and time again insisted “has no place in politics” isn’t deeply selfish, irresponsible and as if it hasn’t spit on everything some of the drivers, namely Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel have taken stands for. It’s very clear that politics are only allowed when it benefits his agenda but it’s very, very disappointing.
#I’m just so mad#let’s use critical thinking guys#also if you voted for trump genuinely get off my blog lol.#I dont care about you. I hope you suffer just as much as the rest of us#and I hope you feel terrible about yourself because you should!#luckily for me I am an individual not attached to any corporate entity so I will say that politics DOES have a place on my blog.#and I’ll also say#fuck donald trump#I’m so tired#it’s just so disgusting#even without the whole other layer of who Trump is it’s just deeply hypocritical and I would be pissed if i was a driver#f1#formula 1#f1blr#formulanni#us elections#kamala harris#Muhammad Ben sulayem#fuck the fia#fia#mbs

Randomly thinking about grrm’s deconstruction of knighthood in asoiaf and how ironic it is that the Night’s Watch - an organization known to be half full of murderers, rapists, thieves, and all sorts of criminals - is essentially in charge of defending all of humanity when shit hits the fan. Like westeros just scrambled ‘the lowest of the low’ together into a penal colony in the far north and is totally fine depending on them for their survival; though tbf, i guess part of it has to do with expecting these societal ‘others’ to give their not so valuable lives for the good of the realm, who really cares if they live or die because they’re out of sight and out of mind. And it’s kinda funny too when we factor in the kingsguard because it’s a far more respected institution than the NW presently, but it too has its fair share of monsters. Quite a few men of the kingsguard have been morally bankrupt individuals, and we even see how the men of the KG sometimes forget other people they should be responsible for because their one priority is the king (we see what happens when you put the people of the realm first and then are ostracized by it a la Jaime tho there’s more to it). Missing the forest for the tree is something both institutions share, making them quite similar. So it’s interesting how grrm flips the fantasy classic of the black knight vs the white knight. The black knight is often anti-heroic, if not straight up villainous, and is often made to be diametrically opposed to the valiant and ever good white knight. But asoiaf has white and black knights both be shown of great virtue and great vice. The white knights in this story really are no better than the black knights. I’d love to see how these two entities could intersect, i.e., what happens when a white knight eventually changes his cloak for a black one (*cough* Jaime *cough*) and how that falls into grrm’s deconstruction of the romance of chivalry, the extent of personal heroism, and perceived knightly virtue. Welp I don’t even know what point I’m trying to make anymore, I just wanted to talk about the KG and the NW because they’re really cool.
#asoiaf really really is for the arthuriana girlies I tell you what#like the entire concept of knighthood in asoiaf being steeped in deconstructions of arthurian legend#we got galahad and lancelot and everything else#galahad is an example of a traditional white knight but his asoiaf parallels are the black knight jon snow and the not even a knight brienn#it’s really cool#and it’s also cool how black knights and white knights both can be admired but there are darker elements in both#as jon and bran eventually find out#asoiaf#valyrianscrolls#the night's watch#the kingsguard

I have been thinking about this a lot. I drafted this and considered not posting it, but I read this post and I kinda wanted to add onto it and at the same time I didn't want to derail it with my own issue. Discussion of Neil Gaiman, fandom, and fatphobia below...
I was not a fan of Neil Gaiman. Not in a way where I disliked him, I just simply didn't engage with his work whatsoever. He was a non-entity to me. But when his big "Sandman" show came out I became aware of a certain incident in his show, namely the fatphobic depiction of the concept of "Despair". In an article about his work I remember Gaiman's characters in the source material had been described as fitting the aesthetic, "heroin chic". This character, Despair, the personification of human misery, was the only fat woman in the main cast.
I saw other fat folks call this out. I saw a direct response from him that, in my opinion, was smug and patronizing. But much more importantly, I saw flocks of people defending not his choice, but him personally. About what a feminist he is. About how thoughtful he is. We just didn't understand his genius. It was a misunderstanding. A misinterpretation. Because that would be bad, and he's not bad, he's good.
Some even went so far as to defend the choice as "better in the source material". You see, in the source material the fat woman personifying human misery was naked! It was better when she wasn't so sad, she simply scurried about like some hateful gremlin, shocking her victims with the grotesquity of her uncovered fatness. Isn't that better?
I researched the character and read a claim that her body was inspired by the Venus of Willendorf. The Venus of Willendorf is a historical artifact of a voluptuous woman. It signifies desire and fertility. Dare I even say, joy. And then someone allegedly saw this artifact and went, "I will name it Despair."
I was offended by reading that, but after doing so I found that I was so much more offended by the response. I mean, it's obvious that this was fatphobia, wasn't it? It was so clearly cut and dry. There was no kinder interpretation. And yet I watched as people bent over backwards, because he was so good! And he made them feel seen and so he couldn't have any prejudices that make that less true. And so when I posted about this whole situation I mainly posted about that response. Because that's what irked me most.
And after that, I decided I wasn't going to be a Neil Gaiman fan on purpose, rather than on accident. When it came to the man himself, I just rolled my eyes and put him into the box of "Not For Me". He could have turned out to be a holy saint in all other ways, for all I knew or cared.
But he wasn't a saint. He turned out to be a rapist.
I'm sorry if this comes across as a gotcha because that's the opposite of my intention. I'm not saying it to derail focus. I'm not trying to make it all about me or my pet cause.
What I'm trying to say is, people will now see things like Despair and take it as a "sign". It's going to be okay now to pick apart his work because now he's a rapist. But I didn't need to know he wasn't a good person to know this person's work wasn't safe for me. And I also knew it wasn't safe to say so, because everyone who tried to talk about how hurt they felt was told how wrong they were to feel that way.
At the same time, it's safe for me to finally vent about how this made me feel now, now that it doesn't matter because he's not good, he's bad actually.
I guess I'm just hoping instead of the usual pattern, where everyone bemoans the fall from grace and debates whether we "should have known" or "couldn't have known", people reading this can try to make space for a middle ground of criticism of the things you love now. Find that gray area somewhere between the top of the pedestal where everything the saint did was with the best intentions, and down in the muck where we should've known he was a rapist all along. Not because saints are secret rapists, but because there are no saints, and most people are there in the middle.
#Neil Gaiman#Anti Neil Gaiman#Fandom#Criticism#Fatphobia#Celebrity Culture#I don't know this is stupid and rambling and I'll probably delete it

Nevermore anon here, I'm a refuge from chai's blog lol
I have. SO MUCH BEEF with the way Viv uses Christianity. Not just because it's like... Just bad. But because it tells soooo much about her and her writing from the setting alone.
First thing first, erasure of POC in heavy ALONE. (St. Peter looking like an apple CEO is one thing, but him being sheet white coming from the middle east is... Something.)
The just... Lack? Of like... Anything interesting from the demons. They're just older magical humans. Where's the body horror (Alastor does NOT count), the otherworldliness, the DEMONIC factor.
The lack of... Not having humans in OTHER parts of HELL? THE PLACE OF ETERNAL DAMNATION? Why are sinners stuck in pride? (If Ozzie has succubi coming to earth to make them lust, why the fuck is he doing that when they don't even reach him or his layer?)
Because if sinners actually resided in other layers, the exorcisms plot would fall apart. Meaning the hotel wouldn't work. And the whole fucking premise dies.
As both these shows go on, the less sense they make. It's contradiction on retcons on just nonsensical plot points.
Like fuck the character writing for a minute, think about the places they're in right now.
Helluva Boss, mostly everywhere until Stolas stole the limelight, now it's just like... Three locales. Before that, it was earth with different places on different hits as set dressing.
It's all character focus. Because if you start thinking too hard on why or HOW these characters are interacting with the world, it makes no sense.
Hazbin Hotel.
Pride.
Well, more like shitty new York.
Seriously, that place looks more like Manhattan than Manhattan does. Where's the cosmic influence, the demonic aspect?
The moon? The fucking moon? Red skies? That's it????
So like...
Are all of these guys guilty of pride?
Alastor murders people.
He's there because of ego?
Val is a rapist.
But his selfishness is why he's in pride??????
It doesn't make SENSE!
There's so much potential in this setting. And what we get makes no sense.
Rant over, I'll stick around here, keep up the good work
Yeah, Vivziepop practically whitewashed every important figure from the Bible. Saint Peter design wise got the worst of it. This whole situation a while ago made me realize that I should definitely treat the Vivziepop’s world and the Bible as separate entities. Lowering expectations helped too since she is clearly doing her own version even if it ends up being booty cheeks.
There’s probably body horror with the demon background characters (which is also slim). Hopefully, Vivziepop and the writers go in depth and explain why sinners are stuck in pride. She probably explained it in a livestream but that’s way too much homework. But yeah you are right about Pride City, Nevermore Anon.
Yeah, the more you connect the dots then you will realize more holes in the writing 😔. It’s basically a mixture of Los Angeles, New York, and California except everything is red and on fire.

To me, Charlie from the show and Charlie from the pilot are two totally different entities.
One is Charlie Magne, the other is Charlie Morningstar.
I love Charlie Magne, i hate Charlie Morningstar.
I love the Charlie Magne thats positive despite living on an hostile enviroment but still smart enough to not make any impulsive desisions. The one that tries to be nice to everyone but still wont let them walk over her. The one that clearly shows to care about her people and wants to use her power as a ruler to improve things for them. The one who understand how redemption works and is completelly willing to help anybody to improve themselves and gain heaven. The one that may be a little childish and naive on ocasions but still ready to learn better. The one who actually puts effort into reaching her goals. The one who was smart enough to not make a deal with a dangerous demon and instead, on a clever way, uses her position as a princess of hell to make him work for her.
I love that sweet, smart, caring and mature Charlie Magne. And i also love her silly outfit.
I hate the Charlie Morningstar thats really stupid and takes a lot of idiotic desisions because she doesnt stop to think. The one who legit acts like a little kid on very serious situations. The one that speaks condescendingly to people and then acts surprised when they dont like her. The one that expects everything to go the way she wants while barely trying and gets mad when it doesnt happen. The one that ignores her status as a ruler and refuse to stop "her people" from doing terrible things because "telling people what to do is mean :(". The one that doesnt actually want redemption for sinners, just think they deserve heaven already because "it isnt fair" that criminals, murderers, rapists, etc dont get to heaven but angels that are kinda mean do. The one that proposes the most cuestionable and useless ideas and gets so upset when people dont follow her. The one that legits throws tantrums when things dont go her way.
I hate that childish, dumb, impulsive, weak minded Charlie Morningstar. And i also hate her stupid lawyer uniform.
Agreed, wholeheartedly. Pilot Charlie was a fiery, competent little badass with a big heart and just enough flawed naivete to make her interesting. Charlie Morningstar is a blundering, selfish idiot womanchild.
You calling it "her stupid lawyer suit" made me think of this skit, with pilot Charlie on the left and series Charlie on the right.

'Children Are Not Mothers': What is at stake with Brazil bill that equates abortion after 22 weeks of pregnancy to homicide

A bill signed by 32 deputies intends to equate any abortion performed in Brazil after 22 weeks of pregnancy with the crime of homicide.
The rule would even apply to cases in which the procedure is authorized by Brazilian legislation, such as pregnancy resulting from rape.
Bill 1904/2024, whose first author is congressman Sóstenes Cavalcante (Liberal Party - Rio de Janeiro), adds a few paragraphs to four articles of the Brazilian Penal Code, which was established in 1940.
Article 124 of the Civil Code, for example, already establishes as a crime "causing oneself to have an abortion or allowing someone else to do so."
But, according to the new proposal being discussed in the Chamber of Deputies, "when there is fetal viability, presumed in pregnancies over 22 weeks, the penalties will be applied in accordance with the crime of simple homicide."
On Wednesday night (June 12th, 2024), Brazil's Chamber of Deputies approved the urgency regime for processing the project, which was requested by congressman Eli Borges (LIberal Party - Tocantins) — who also signed the document.
This means that the proposal can be voted directly by the plenary of the Chamber, without the need for debates and opinions in thematic committees of Congress.
With this, the Plenary can vote on the project in the coming days. The urgent request was included on the agenda by the President of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (Progressive Party - Aladoas).
Victims of violence
Bill 1904/2024 intends to change some articles of the Penal Code, with the aim of preventing any abortion from occurring when the pregnancy exceeds 22 weeks.
Currently, Brazilian law allows abortion in three situations:
When the pregnancy is the result of rape;
If the pregnancy poses a risk to the woman’s life;
If the fetus is anencephalic, a condition characterized by the absence of the brain and skullcap.
In an article published on the website of the Brazilian Center for Health Studies (Cebes), doctor Ana Costa, executive director of the institution, classifies the bill as "a reissue of the 'Rapist Statute', which obliges women to become pregnant as a result of rape under penalty of imprisonment".
Cebes also highlights that late access to legal abortion "reflects inequality and inequity in health care, particularly impacting children (10-14 years old), poor women, black women, and those living in rural areas."
A group of 18 entities in the sector came together to create the "Children Are Not Mothers" campaign, which characterizes the changes proposed in the law as the "Child Pregnancy Bill".
According to the creators of the movement, the change in legislation will mainly harm children under 14 years of age, who represent the largest group that needs abortion services after the third trimester.
According to them, in this age group — in which any pregnancy is the result of presumed rape — it takes longer to discover or even identify a pregnancy.
Furthermore, in two thirds of cases, the perpetrator of the rape is from the girl's own family — which inhibits the victim from seeking health services or reporting the crime to authorities in the first weeks of pregnancy.
The campaign also highlights that the eventual change in the law will mean that those involved in abortion could be convicted of the crime of simple homicide, with a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
Meanwhile, the legislation establishes a sentence of around 10 years — or half the time — for the crime of rape.
According to the Brazilian Public Security Yearbook, 74,930 people were raped in Brazil in 2022. Of these, 88.7% of the victims were female and around 60% were at most 13 years old.
DataSUS reports that, in 2019, around 70 pregnancies were legally terminated in Brazilian children and adolescents under the age of 14.
The campaign warns that, if approved, the project "will force girls who are victims of violence to continue their pregnancy" and this will mean a setback "to the sexual and reproductive rights guaranteed by law since 1940."
What supporters of the bill say
The project being discussed in the Chamber argues that the Penal Code, established in 1940, does not establish this limit of 22 weeks because "a last-trimester abortion was an unthinkable reality [at that time] and, if it were possible, no one would call it an abortion, but homicide or infanticide".
The text of the project also argues that "to grant women the right to terminate pregnancy, regardless of gestational age, and whatever the weight of the unborn child, it was necessary to subvert the basic principles of the Rule of Law, the same ones that gave rise to to American Independence and modern democracy."
According to the deputies' proposal, people involved in an abortion after 22 weeks of gestation — such as the woman and the health professional — can be convicted of the crime of simple homicide.
Currently, sentences for simple homicide in Brazil range from 6 to 20 years in prison.
On social media, congressman Sóstenes Cavalcante wrote that Bill 1904 "aims to consider late-term abortion as homicide, reinforcing the protection of life from conception."
The project was filed on May 17th. That same day, the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, had suspended a resolution from the Federal Council of Medicine (CFM) that prohibited the so-called fetal asystole.
This procedure, recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the stages of abortion resulting from rape in the last trimester of pregnancy, uses medications to stop the fetal heartbeat before it is removed from the uterus.
According to Moraes, the CFM resolution exceeded the regulatory competence of the council and imposed "both on the medical professional and the pregnant victim of rape a restriction of rights not provided for by law capable of creating concrete and significantly worrying embarrassments for women's health" .
The STF minister also recalled that Brazilian legislation does not stipulate any "circumstantial, procedural, or temporal" limitations for carrying out the abortion provided for by law.
Moraes's decision was preliminary and will be discussed in the future in the Supreme Court plenary. The CFM also appealed the minister's opinion.

this post by scrawnym4 has made me realize something that pisses me off.
the downside of having a genuinely bad character that a fandom hates is that the fandom will be so annoying about it and never bother to analyze them and their plot in the story and/or refuse to even properly talk about the character in a serious way.
if someone dares to say they like that character or (even worse) are in some way attracted to that character (or even WORSE WORSE) somehow relate in a way to said bad character they're told they condone character's actions in REAL life and told to die (or some other 'you're a bad person' jargon).
maybe the mouthwashing fandom has jaded me a little because because that post mainly reminded me about jimmy.
like, most don't even say jimmy's name. they censor it? for some fucking reason? shit was funny at first, cause i thought they were kinda playing on how swansea called him jimbo, but it got so annoying so fucking quick.
also, small nitpick, can we stop amplifying that bad and/or "evil" people stink "naturally"? cause i'm tired of the concept of being dirty and not washing a thing only "bad" people are/do, thanks.
adding this cause a lot of people claim jimmy, who's a canonical rapist, doesn't shower or wash or generally take care of himself because he's "evil" and a bad person. can we please stop this? cause jimmy canonically washes and showers. he even said in game he misses the showers!
also just in general people do this it's NOT just a mouthwashing problem it's a people problem, it's even in scrawnym4's crude doodle of "bad guy mcweirdson", he apparently "stinks really bad". why? who knows, it was more than likely a random "trait" they pulled out of their head they found annoying or bad. (i'm not them idk. also this is NOT an attack or call out do NOT assume it is, jesus christ!!!).
it's fucking annoying regardless. how clean someone is does NOT dictate who they are or how they act.
bad characters can be bad but either get mischaracterized or extremely infantilized. i'm not even gonna bring in sexualization, by the way, cause i've seen more accurate character analysis from people that wanna fuck "evil" characters than the ones that wanna remain "pure and wholesome".
i've notice a lot of people can't tolerate genuinely bad characters cause half the time they're human. and who want's to realize that any random person can be bad?
like i've noticed a LOT of "villains" and bad people in fiction aren't even people half the time, and if they are they have super natural powers. they're fictionalized.
mouthwashing makes people realize that ANYONE can be a bad person. jimmy is just a fucking GUY. he's not this supernatural evil entity that lurks in the darkness.
he's a middleaged man that raped a woman.
and people hate this. they hate realism. they refuse to even look into his character or even bother to entertain him outside of his actions because making characters soley one thing is something i've seen VERY RECENTLY that's making me just as mad.
jimmy isn't just a rapist. curly isn't just an enabler. anya isn't just a victim. they all have their own roles within the game and how they interact with each other.
does this make sense? genuinely.

Amjad Taha أمجد طه: "Why must this great nation endure such horrors?
In the morning, their babies are returned to them in coffins, and at night, their buses are blown up by terrorist attacks.
Why can’t Israel even mourn its murdered children without terrorists targeting public spaces near hospitals and schools, such as in Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv?
Anyhow, today was one of the darkest days in history.
Some of those Palestinians who celebrated it will regret their actions for the rest of their lives, and history will never forgive them.
They kidnapped infants as young as eight months and four years old, along with elderly victims as old as 83, and murdered them.
No cause can justify this.
Even if we entertain their absurd narrative that Israel killed these hostages in airstrikes, Hamas is still responsible. Why?
Because they kidnapped babies, placed them in dangerous locations, and used them as human shields.
Even in their own scenario, Hamas is guilty.
They have admitted to their crimes.
And let me be clear: no one believes their lies.
Yes, I care about the children of Gaza as much as I do about the children of Israel.
That is why I demand their freedom from Hamas, from terrorists, from rapists. Free Gaza’s children. Free Israel’s babies.
On a side note:
Oded Lipshitz, 83 years old, was a volunteer with "Road to Recovery," an organization that helped transport Palestinian patients, mainly children, from Gaza to Israeli hospitals for life-saving treatment.
Hamas kidnapped him alive and returned him dead.
Hamas terrorists, like depraved animals, danced in celebration.
They even brought children from Gaza to witness and rejoice in the execution of baby Ariel Bibas and Kfir.
Nothing will erase this barbaric image from our memories.
The Bibas babies have shown the world the true nature of Hamas, a vile, monstrous entity that must be eradicated, not negotiated with.
First, free the hostages, dead or alive.
Then, humanity must pursue every last one of their kidnappers and killers. Justice must be served.
No mercy for those who threaten humanity.
The Muslim Brotherhood terrorists must be stopped.''

So you have this entity formed out of the main character's sexual trauma and repression. A raw fragment of pain born screaming and then badly stuffed into a human shape. He struggles to make human expressions, he moves awkwardly. He’s meant to exist here in this hellish limbo of lost souls and monsters.
His creator (the main characters' rapist, BOB) wants to pilot him like a human skin suit because he has failed time and time again to take control of his real body and mind. So he plays dirty, lures him into hell so this doppelgänger can take his place in the world.
The thing is, the doppelgänger is still Cooper. So BOB has effectively trapped himself in a body he can’t control.
And this thing that was never supposed to escape hell is free. But to stay free he needs power.
So he feeds BOB, he torments Cooper's loved ones. Violates them, ruins their lives to feed on their suffering. He is an irredeemable monster of his own making.
At some point he expands this into organized crime.
He’s a billionaire 25 years later. A miserable, paranoid, and insecure bastard. No longer raw and manic. Terrified of being perceived as weak in any way. Over dinner he snaps at one of his underlings over his wording. He doesn’t Need Anything. He only Wants.
Then we meet Chantal. I Need you and your husband in certain place, he says. Chantal and Hutch are in a polyamorous relationship with him. They know he’s a nonhuman entity, are unphased by it totally. And they genuinely really care for him.
And he actually relaxes around them. It’s the most comfortable we ever see him, it’s a short scene where he debriefs them on their next targets- they're his hitmen- but it conveys a past, a whole history.
There’s other people at his disposal. He has magic and a vast network. But these are the people he trusts with the job that his continued existence and freedom rests on.

I support Israel.
"Why? They are murdering Hamas?"
1) Hamas are rapists. They filmed themselves raping Israeli women, 2) antizionism is antisemitism, you do not care about Jews if you think all of Israel is the same evil entity, 3) why don't all of the surrounding countries stop bombing and terrorizing Israel? Every time Israel has retaliated it has been because of unprovoked attacks from another country. 4) Hamas supports child marrage

911 characters & their D&D classes
(what they'd play as in a campaign, or what they'd be in a d&d au. your pick really).
just a lil sth to soothe the heart as we continue to ignore/rage over/cry about Thursday's shitshow of an episode
athena: bloodhunter- at first i was gonna keep to only base classes and assign her fighter but you know what, bloodhunter is way more badass and awesome and I think it gives her an additional flair for the dramatic. Plus the way she went after the serial rapist and then Amir? Peak bloodhunter behaviour.
bobby: paladin- by the grace of God you are catching this giant-ass sword in the face. Also heals in a pinch, but he's more on the physical side of paladin than the spell side.
buck: paladin- just like dad, but also he may go overboard with the spellcasting.
chimney: bard- heals and cheers up the team... or at least annoys and/or amuses them enough to keep 'em going!
eddie: rogue- more in the dexterity and firepower sense than the sneaky stealthy sense, though.
hen: sorcerer- has studied hard to learn all these damn spells and by heavens is she gonna make sure they hit the mark.
josh: cleric- has the best and strongest healing spells around, has taught Maddie.
karen: wizard- extremely clever, has composed half of the spells in her list all on her own.
maddie: cleric- awesome healing spells aside, she's also the kinda cleric to cast spiritual weapon and absolutely obliterate the target when she's pissed.
tommy: ranger- prime aiming skills, good athletics and... strange affinity for small domesticated mammals?
bonus round- the kids!
Christopher as a wizard-in-training- Sometimes Eddie takes him to Karen, and he's proven scarily good at learning some of her more simple custom spells.
Denny as a ranger-in-training- he really loves animals and adventures such as climbing trees, probably gives his mums a scare every time but he's very good at it!
Harry as a warlock-in-training- his mama does not approve of the whole "pact with a mysterious entity" thing but hey, if it works, it ain't stupid... (his patron is probably something unthreatening and on the neutral-to-good side of alignment, but good luck getting Athena to settle for it).
Mara as a rogue-in-training- she loves to stealthily sneak around and prank Hen as soon as she warms up to the family! She can never sneak up on Karen though, she always seems to just know Mara is there.
May as a paladin-in-training- at first she wanted to go for cleric under Maddie's tutelage, but in the end she decided on a more hands-on approach and started to train with Buck and Bobby.

oh em gee i got this banger idea like yesterday and i am so surprised that i have never seen any other person contemplate it but like,,, death note au where when ryuk drops the notebook to the human world, mikami picks it up instead of light. i have been thinking about this all day and i am back now with Ideas. everything is under the cut because it's going to be such a long post, i just know it.
imagine now, if you will, teru mikami who is twenty one years old. a law student, in his fourth year of university, on a full scholarship. he is a pretty lonely person, he lives alone in his dorm and is a very bright and talented student. he is on track to be an accomplished lawyer. like canon mikami, he has a very rigid sense of justice, all people are either good or bad, and bad people must be elimanted. he plans to do just that once he becomes a prosecutor.
it's all going fine. but then, of course, ryuk drops the notebook and he ends up finding it. the notebook falls to the courtyard of his university and mikami had been on his daily walks before class when he comes across it and picks it up. he was going to ignore it at first but after he takes a moment to examine it, he is a little apprehensive about it. leaving something like that lying around? bad idea. he doesn't believe in its powers at first and the first week or so, he doesn't even use it. he keeps it in his drawer and decides to just focus on his studies and classes. he dismisses it as some sort of joke item, he means to throw it away soon but he keeps forgetting to.
but after a week or so, ryuk shows up. ryuk would be a lot less keen on mikami than he was with light because like light to him, was interesting. light was raking up like a hundred deaths in the span of five days while mikami has zero. ryuk is kinda disappointed but he dropped the notebook, so there is nothing he can really do about it. ryuk ends up coaxing mikami to try it out, just to see what happens. mikami is a little hesitant, but now that he has seen ryuk and now knows that shinigami exist, the notebook must be real too, as far fetched as it is. he tries a similar approach to light to test it out, he writes the name of a criminal who is being broadcasted on tv. and as expected, the criminal dies and the notebook is real.
mikami does the same thing that light does, that is, target criminals with the most heinous crimes on their records. murderers, rapists, terrorists, anyone he considers to be evil, bad, and the scum of society. how he does it is slightly different though, he is much more methodical about it. he allocates a set amount of hours every single day where he will sit down and write names. he sticks to it, he never writes a name out of his fixed time.
he takes the shinigami eyes deal pretty early on: light's reasoning for why he doesn't take the eyes is because he wants to actually be alive to control the new world that he has made. mikami does not have such motivations. that is the most important thing that sets 1st kira!mikami apart from canon light – mikami has no personal motives to his death note usage like light does. light wants to rid the world of evil, yes, but first and foremost, he wants to be God. mikami only wants the former, all he wants is justice and the world where there's just good people. he is not as 'corrupted' as light is, if that even is the right word???? mikami truly believes that what he is doing is the most morally right thing, he has no other motivation like light does. so, he is not really scared of his lifespan being cut in half. what he wants is to achieve his goals, and he doesn't mind being a martyr about it.
of course, everyone catches on that all the criminal deaths are the doing of one entity, who is called kira by the public. another key different, mikami is 10000x less conspicuous than light. light 's thing is that his dad is the head of the kira case while mikami has no such connections like that. so nobody even thinks to suspect him. L, who takes up the kira case just like in canon, doesn't even think to suspect mikami since he is just a random university student studying law. raye penber and naomi thing never happens because he is never even trailed in the first place, light was trailed because L had made the conclusion that kira has to be connected to the task force in some way. so, since mikami is just Some Guy, that whole thing doesn't happen.
i would argue that the lind l tailor thing doesn't happen either. i don't think L would find substantial evidence that kira is in fact from the kanto region but if by chance, it did happen, mikami wouldn't have killed tailor. light is impulsive, he is hot headed while mikami is cool, not necessarily more calculative than light is but he doesn't rely on his own emotions much. he probably wouldn't have come to the conclusion that televised L was a decoy, he just wouldn't care enough to kill tailor. frustrated, yes, but he wouldn't write his name in a fit of rage. he knows that there would be opposition but he believes that what he is doing is right. his only priority is his goals, he isn't really focused on getting rid of opposition.
so all in all, he makes a great kira since no one suspects him and he manages to do his job just fine. but that is not to say that it's all perfect because i think mikami has one big, giant, colossal problem that light had never really had to face and that is ryuk. because you see, ryuk dropped the notebook in hopes for some fun, something interesting happening. mikami is a poor person for that. sure, mikami does the same thing as light does which is kill criminals but ryuk is more interested in light. light does his thing with a flair, he has that added wish to be god as well. but mikami on the other hand, ryuk finds him boring. extremely predictable, mikami takes 0 risks. all he does is just write some names, there isn't even the L vs kira thing to keep ryuk interested. ryuk is like extremely tempted to just write mikami's name and kill him off.
but that's when light comes in. light has heard of this kira, someone who kills criminals and apparently has the same views of justice that he does. light is desperate to find him and is completely obsessed too, trying to track kira down. he would like to be allies and he thinks he might be of great help to kira, whoever that is. he even succeeds in it in some way, managing to find mikami and conclude that he is the kira that he is looking for (this is where the mikalight comes in).
light approaches mikami one day, knowing without a shadow of a doubt that mikami is kira but doesn't let mikami know that he thinks that. they get to talking, like discussing about their views on justice and good and evil. it just makes light more sure that he has the right person. for mikami, it's refreshing to talk to someone who thinks like him and he cannot help but be so charmed by him. but in the end, light drops the bombshell that he knows that mikami is kira but he is like don't worry i am like a huge fan and mikami is like. nervous but he is like okay. light tells him that he wants to work with him, help him achieve his goal. light is not beneath using his good look and charm to manipulate mikami as well, even though it's just a little different since mikami is a man. by the end of it, mikami is more relaxed and he is just falling for light's charms more and more. a likeminded individual, handsome and charming, someone who wants to help him.
light wants to know how exactly mikami kills. eventually mikami tells him about the notebook, even shows it to him and light is already hatching his plans. he wants to steal the notebook, keep it for himself. light is light in every universe, he wants to take mikami's role as kira and become the god of the new world. he even succeeds in convincing mikami to "lend" it to him and begins to use it for a little bit.
misa still very much exists 10000%. she gets the death note, her parents are dead and mikami had killed her parents' murderer. so now, misa is now grateful to mikami and attaches herself to him, instead of going after light. sure, light is conventionally attractive and they have crossed paths but mikami is now her no1. mikami is more uncomfortable than annoyed, he is a lot more antisocial than light is and all of this attention is just so unfamiliar to him. and since mikami has the eyes for himself, he has no need for her like light did and even so, he would be so unwilling to manipulate her for his own gain.
L comes along as well and i think the way he catches on finally is because of one of light's mistakes when mikami was lending the notebook to him. he clocks light as kira and mikami as the accomplice instead of the other way around. the memory loss thing still happens where mikami and misa lose their memory while light still remembers because he never had a notebook in the first place. confinement arc happens where light, mikami and L are chained together (this is where the mikalawlight happens. mikalawlight is actually my otp, like my most favorite thing)
that is all the ideas i have for now,,, this post better not flop. please please please feel free to add on !!!!

To clarify it for my own mind: during the course of their fight (in which Phaya is holding his own) the rapist killer rips off Phaya's amulet. Once that protection is gone, a supernatural entity (probably the Naga King) possesses the killer and levels him up. Phaya gets his ass handed to him and is about to be stabbed when Tharn leaps in to protect him once again. Tharn gets stabbed instead, but his vest protects him somewhat so it's not as severe. Then Tharn punches the entity-possessed-killer with his own amulet and essentially exorcises the entity. Killer man is knocked out and doesn't remember anything that happened when he was possessed.
Later, the Suspicious Dr Slow Motion shows up to check on Tharn but is dismissed by Phaya who's staying the night. Phaya is now wearing his protective amulet again, and when he touches the Doctor's shoulder the Doctor's eyes turn green and his skin is burned where Phaya touched him. Back in the privacy of his own car Slow Motion sounds as if he knows what's going on and is not surprised by any of the supernatural stuff happening. Even the monk says Phaya and Slow Motion should stay away from each other (and we know he's rooting for Phaya to free Tharn from his bad karma). I'm thinking these are clues that the Doctor isn't human, but is a Naga (probably the Naga King) since nagas can shapeshift.

Some people just really like to cherry pick stuff.
But Archer Gil is a rapist and misogynist and murderer and sadist and yada yada. Yes, we know. Thank you for reminding us about that.
And it's totally okay to like caster Gil and hate archer Gil and I totally understand that but pretending like they are different entities and saying this one is holy and this one is pure devil is just a total bs. We're saying these things not to shit on caster Gil lovers or to shit on caster Gil himself, we just want to show you that they are one and the same person with their pluses and minuses. Because most of people that love caster Gilgamesh fully shitting on archer Gilgamesh while completely ignoring his positive traits and his development as a character and only focusing on these few lines that he said when Nasu didn't care about Gilgamesh as a character and just made him being this terrible creep and asshole that anyone can hate. So, yeah.... thank you for coming to my small TED talk.

#also I don't really understand how can you like a character while pretending to not seeing his negative traits as well#because to me if you want to accept the character you love then you must do it fully and accept all of his aspects good and bad#my ramblings#txt#rant post#i guess

Every time I listen to Inbred by Ethel Cain I think of TCM; Specially the 2003/2006 franchise but I guess the others work just as well. Especially:
"You get off on innocence, so you savor this Does your baby know her daddy's a rapist? He hates the way you look at me You're already dead, you're already dead
If he wakes up, he'll show you what I'm talking about
You can't win 'em all Who knows how much longer I'll lay on the floor? Touch me 'til I vomit I'm not scared of God, I'm scared he was gone all along (oh, oh)
Who will take the fall? Who of us is stronger? You'll just want it more If you could, you'd have fought it, but you know you're not From the start, they knew you were wrong, you were wrong"
____
IS THIS NOT TCM?? HELLO?? DOES THIS NOT AUTOMATICALLY REMIND YOU OF HOYT AND THOMAS??
The section mentioned above really really reminds me of Hoyt. The line "If he wakes up, he'll show you what I'm talking about" reminds me of the distinction of Hoyt versus Charlie. @demphen hints at this in their fic, Darkest Hour {which is phenomenal, it's a good read🫀,} Hoyt and Charlie are almost two "entities" living in one vessel. Charlie's vessel. I like to think Charlie was permanently altered after the war; As would anyone after experiencing such trauma. I think the town dying, Thomas losing his job, and killing the sheriff was what finally did it. What finally "killed" Charlie. Charlie was hanging by a thread; clawing at the shell which once was his, desperately trying to restore the lifeline only to be shut out and 'killed' once the sheriff was too. The one thing keeping the town inline; Keeping Charlie inline, was gone. Hoyt realized {and maybe always knew} that the "protectors" never cared about his family. Back to how this relates to the Inbred lyrics; It almost feels like Hoyt waking up within Charlie. Charlie is in there, we can see "him" when he talks to the family. But as soon as things go rogue, Hoyt 'awakens.' If he = Hoyt; Wakes up, he'll show you what I'm talking about = someone gets hurt. This is LITERALLY like the hitchhiker scene in the 2003 remake !! "He's a bad man, he's a really bad man -- you're all gonna die."
This song also reminds me of Thomas; Specifically:
"Older brother made a name for himself with the cops Scumbag fuck, but I swear that he's not He's so good to me and to nobody else So you should watch yourself
Mama's comatose, she can't leave the bed Something smells rotten and it starting to spread I'm bad, he's worse, we're already dead We're already dead"
____
"Older brother made a name for himself with the cops - Scumbag fuck but I swear that he's not" reminds me of Hoyt and Thomas' relationship. For one, Hoyt not only "became" part of law enforcement, he was a POW. Now, a POW is not someone who gets "involved with the cops" per se, but he did get involved in serious warfare which for some reason reminds me of this line. The following line "Scumbag fuck but I swear that he's not" reminds me of the intense family pride. I think Thomas knows Hoyt is a bad person. Hell, aren't they all? But at the same time he loves his family; They're all he has. Continuing with this narrative; "He's so good to me, and to nobody else - So you should watch yourself." We know Hoyt cares for Thomas, but he's definitely 'tough-love' and judgmental. So this line reminds me of them more because of the essence: He treats us {the family} well, no one else gets that privilege. Watch yourself :)
Now, the line "Mama's comatose, she can't leave the bed" reminds me of Monty, as opposed to Luda Mae. Monty really can't do anything anymore. He used to help tow the victim's cars and help with mechanic repair; But he obviously can't do that now. So it's more the essence of the line as opposed to the line itself. Following up with "Something smells rotten and it's starting to spread" has always reminded me of Thomas' skin condition. His condition caused his skin to rot to such an extreme that he amputated his nose. His condition obviously spread throughout his face, causing him to cover it fully. I guess the anxiety of "it's starting to spread" reminded me of Thomas in a way. How anxious he must've felt seeing his condition worsen over time; Taking more and more of him until it's all he was. His one defining feature.
"I'm bad, he's worse, we're already dead - We're already dead"
We're already dead.
"Anyway, staying around this town, there's no more jobs, no more money, no more food. It's down right suicidal."
We're already dead.
"You can't have a creature like that around normal folk, that's what I'm saying."
I'm bad, he's worse, we're already dead.
"People may not remember what we say here tonight, but they sure as shit gonna remember what we do. Thanks to the good sheriff here...We ain't gonna go hungry tonight. Matter of fact, we ain't never gonna starve again."
