Jadzia's death being the price the Prophets warned Sisko he'd have to pay for them destroying that Dominion fleet in Sacrifice of Angels would have been such an interesting direction to take it
HOLY SHIT. YEAH
in a universe where jadzias death was foreshadowed and done in a more narratively satisfying (and frankly, as she deserves, cooler) way, i think kira and ezri shouldve got to kill dukat at the end
#especially if we got a little more consistent attention to jadziaās connection to the wormhole itself#like its all right there ā as the science officer sheās always involved with wormhole stuff#but put it in the text#and she is the emissaryās counsel!!! she helps him make sense of it throughout!#without her he canāt talk to the prophets!!!#also youre so right itās a little funny that tng and voyager have time travel finales and ds9 doesnāt#but i think that might undercut some of the importance of linear time as a theme actually š¤#the prophets and pah wraith are in temporally asynchronous drama but our heroes ARE linear#rereblog#deep space nine

25 And now when ye talk, ye say: If our days had been in the days of our fathers of old, we would not have slain the prophets; we would not have stoned them, and cast them out. 26 Behold ye are worse than they; for as the Lord liveth, if a prophet come among you and declareth unto you the word of the Lord, which testifieth of your sins and iniquities, ye are angry with him, and cast him out and seek all manner of ways to destroy him; yea, you will say that he is a false prophet, and that he is a sinner, and of the devil, because he testifieth that your deeds are evil. 27 But behold, if a man shall come among you and shall say: Do this, and there is no iniquity; do that and ye shall not suffer; yea, he will say: Walk after the pride of your own hearts; yea, walk after the pride of your eyes, and do whatsoever your heart desireth ā and if a man shall come among you and say this, ye will receive him, and say that he is a prophet. 28 Yea, ye will lift him up, and ye will give unto him of your substance; ye will give unto him of your gold, and of your silver, and ye will clothe him with costly apparel; and because he speaketh flattering words unto you, and he saith that all is well, then ye will not find fault with him. 29 O ye wicked and ye perverse generation; ye hardened and ye stiffnecked people, how long will ye suppose that the Lord will suffer you? Yea, how long will ye suffer yourselves to be led by foolish and blind guides? Yea, how long will ye choose darkness rather than light?

She is said to encompass aspects of the traditional maiden, mother, and crone archetypes, representing youthful zeal, maternal nurturing, and wise counsel, respectively. MISC:
Crows and ravens: the Morrigan is often associated with crows or ravens due to her nature as a deity of death, fate, and transformation. In Irish mythology, crows or ravens were often seen as messengers between the worlds of the living and the dead, and could be seen as omens of impending change or transformation. For the Morrigan, these birds served as her messengers and helped her carry out her duties as a deity of war, fate, and the supernatural. Additionally, the Morrigan herself was sometimes depicted as a crow or raven in the form of a woman.
Death: she is often associated with death because she is seen as a deity of fate and transformation, which can include death and rebirth. In Irish mythology, she is often depicted as a battle goddess who wields a spear or sword, and is seen as a bringer of violence and change. She is also associated with the concept of death as a natural and inevitable part of life, and is sometimes seen as a guide for the souls of the dead as they cross over to the afterlife.
War: in Irish mythology, she was often seen as a fierce and powerful warrior, who would appear in the form of a crow or raven to guide and aid the soldiers of the Tuatha de Danann, a group of gods and mythological beings. She was often invoked by soldiers in order to bring them victory in battle and could also be seen as a symbol of the chaos and destruction that can occur during war.
Triple goddess: she is often associated with the triple goddess archetype due to her connection with the number three and her role as a goddess of transformation and female empowerment. In Celtic mythology, the number three was often seen as sacred and powerful, and the Morrigan is sometimes depicted as embodying these three aspects of femininity: maiden, mother, and crone. This association reflects her nature as a powerful and multifaceted deity who encompasses the different phases of a woman's life, from youth and fertility to wisdom and maturity.
Samhain: in Celtic mythology, Samhain is believed to be a time when the boundary between the world of the living and the world of the dead becomes thin, allowing the spirits of the deceased to return to the world of the living. The Morrigan, as a goddess of death and transformation, is seen as playing an important role during this time, guiding and assisting the souls of the dead on their journey to the afterlife.
Magic: was seen as a powerful force that could wield the energy and power of these natural forces, and the Morrigan was often invoked as a source of magical power and insight during certain rituals and spells. Additionally, the Morrigan is sometimes depicted as a sorcerous figure in some myths, casting spells or curses and using her supernatural abilities to influence events on the mortal plane.
FACTS ABOUT THE MORRIGAN:
She owns a herd of enchanted and magical cattle.Ā
Contrary to some interpretations, the Morrigan is not necessarily seen as an evil or destructive deity. In many myths, she is depicted as a protective and wise figure who aids and guides heroes on their journeys.
She is sometimes portrayed as a shape-shifter, able to take on the form of a crow or other animals.
The Morrigan is often associated with the number three, representing the three aspects of maiden, mother, and crone.
She is also associated with the Fae and the Bansheeāa creature that generally takes on the form of an old woman who wails in mourning to announce the coming death of someone in the family.
The name "Morrigan" comes from Old Irish and means "phantom queen" or "great queen."
She is often associated with ravens or crows, which were seen as her messengers between the worlds of the living and the dead.
The Morrigan is known for appearing in the form of a woman with long, flowing hair, sometimes carrying a spear and/or a shield.

āBeware of false prophets who come to you in sheepās clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.ā Matthew 7:15-16
It is so easy to be deceived by false prophets who sound good, and promote good, when they are ultimately destructive. You can tell them by what they omit rather than what they include, omitting from the whole counsel of God. They come as wolves dressed as sheep. The most ravenous of animals disguised as the most harmless of animals. This is the deceitfulness of the false prophets. You will know them by their fruit- their behavior, and their deeds. But the greatest test is their teaching. Does it line up with the Word of God? If not, it is false. This means we must know our Bibles ourselves. The best defense against a counterfeit is to know the original. Let's read the scriptures and be well-versed in it, and be rooted in the truth, so that, when we hear a false teacher, we will be able to discern instantly and flee from them.Ā

š± How to Begin by @wolfpants (E, 8k)
Harry is completely, pathetically besotted with his flatmate, Draco. Fuelled by liquid courage, he finally makes his move when he's absolutely sozzled. What could possibly go wrong?
āļø When the Flood Comes by @academicdisasterfic (E, 10k)
Nine years on from the war, Auror Potter is upholding the Ministry of Magic's rule of law. Senior legal counsel Draco Malfoy is challenging it. And absolutely nothing is as it seems.
š Two Houses by @tackytigerfic (E, 11k)
Two households, both alike in... meddling Floo connections, apparently? Draco Malfoy is a highly professional and well-respected Ministry official, with a demanding schedule, a loving son, andāthrough no fault of his ownāa faulty Floo connection that keeps regurgitating the Minister for Magic through his fireplace.

It takes them twenty years.
šŖ© Closing Time by @sweet-s0rr0w (E, 18k)
Dracoās been invited to Nevilleās stag party in Bristol, and he's confident he knows what to expect. Thereāll be too many Gryffindors, for starters, plus a few humiliating team-building activities, some dodgy clubs, and a truly preposterous level of alcohol consumption. Butā¦ a drunken Harry Potter climbing into Draco's bed when heās having a wank? No, he definitely didn't see that coming...
š¬Heartbeat by @saxamophone (E, 23k)
Harry hates Draco. Draco hates Harry. Only it's not hate, not even a little bit. Featuring: a cooperative independent study, golden hour on wrecked sheets, water from fountains of dubious origin, purple Mardi Gras beads, and a bird with silly legs.
Art:
š
ghost (might as well be gone) by @dragontamerdame (G)
Draco Malfoy retired from the Auror force and left England a decade ago, but he still receives the Daily Prophet. Todayās issue provides closure on the one case he was never able to officially solve.
šļø A Quiet Life by @getawayfox (T)
After their relationship becomes public knowledge; after being hounded by the paparazzi; after Draco says enough is enough and leaves London; Harryās more than happy to follow. After all, a quiet life is all heās ever wanted.
šļø MY FRIENDS SAY I SHOULDN'T SEE YOU ANYMORE by @bichol (T)
Both Draco's and Harry's friends don't approve of their little... dalliance. But it's so hard to stay away from each other! Could this be a bit more than just casual?

I strongly believe that everyone came to say hi to Ashes in UDAD when they realized they were Hades. So I can fully picture this fic where every chapter you follow one of the other mechs trying to get into Hadesās throne room, all in their own little way.
Like Brian gets in pretty easy as the Oracle of Delphi, just says he has a prophetic vision that has to do with Hades and claims he has to have an audience with them and gets escorted in. They have a bitch/gossip session, because Brian lies that itās a private thing. Ashes uses it to annoy all the other Olympians by alluding to things just to cause shit.
Marius is counseling Zeus and the more he listens to this man complain about Hades, the more he starts to realize who Hades is. So, he starts to insist they should have a family therapy session with Hades. Ashes at first hates Zeus trying to convince them until they realize who is counseling him, then they agree and Ashes and Marius psychologically torture Zeus for an entire session.
Jonny tries to murder spree himself in, but gets stopped by Ashesās traps. They know itās him trying to get in, but think itās funny and actively up their defenses to make him fail, waiting to see if he gives up. He doesnāt and at some point Ashes takes pity on him and lets him get carted off to the Acheron where they get him out off.
Tim has been getting himself a sugar baby role as Persephone and working his way into high society with the Olympians. He actually runs in the same circles as Ashes and complains how boring it is and he wants some violence, so Ashes whisks him off for a trip of fun, which gets wildly out of hand. But hey, at least they get to hang out regularly, right?
And I donāt have a plan for the others yet, but that will come (input is welcome and if someone has other ideas for the others, please do share)

In Greek mythology, Orpheus was a Thracian bard, legendary musician and prophet. He was also a renowned poet and, according to the legend, travelled with Jason and the Argonauts in search of the Golden Fleece, and even descended into the underworld of Hades, to recover his lost wife Eurydice. The major stories about him are centered on his ability to charm all living things and even stones with his music (the usual scene in Orpheus mosaics), his attempt to retrieve his wife Eurydice from the underworld, and his death at the hands of the maenads of Dionysus, who got tired of his mourning for his late wife Eurydice. As an archetype of the inspired singer, Orpheus is one of the most significant figures in the reception of classical mythology in Western culture, portrayed or alluded to in countless forms of art and popular culture including poetry, film, opera, music, and painting.
Krishna is a major deity in Hinduism. He is worshipped as the eighth avatar of Vishnu and also as the Supreme God in his own right. He is the god of protection, compassion, tenderness, and love, and is widely revered among Hindu divinities. Texts portray him in various perspectives: as a god-child, a prankster, a model lover, a divine hero, and the universal supreme being. His iconography reflects these legends and shows him in different stages of his life, such as an infant eating butter, a young boy playing a flute, a young boy with Radha or surrounded by female devotees, or a friendly charioteer giving counsel to Arjuna. The name "Krishna" originates from the Sanskrit word Kį¹į¹£į¹a, which is primarily an adjective meaning "black", "dark", "dark blue" or "All-Attractive". The waning moon is called Krishna Paksha, relating to the adjective meaning "darkening".

So
They finally let me rearrange the religion section at The Bookstore after I spent several months complaining about it. By and large, I'm content with the job I did, but I still have some quibbles with the titles we stock.
Here is a selection of books that we apparently have:
Book about how to understand and love your child who smokes pot
Book about how to get a woman to trust you again after you cheat on her, written by the same author as the one about children smoking pot (what is this guy's life???)
A book called "Raising Prophetic Kids" that I was sorely tempted to buy as a gag for my parents
Prosperity Gospel book that claims to teach you how to become an ultra-rich CEO by following the example of King Solomon
Several dozen fringe eschatology books that are categorized by the publisher as "theology and Christian history" (I did not put them there)
"Inspirational" romance novel about Potiphar's wife
I Am Second book that catapulted me straight back to 2013
Book about spiritual lessons you can share with your horse
Amish harlequins
And two books written by my grandma's prayer partner's husband, a man who gave my parents terrible pre-marital counseling and was generally a pretty big hypocrite. That one was kind of a jump scare lol
#I can't remember if/what i tagged my bookstore stuff it's super late#but i was thinking about this stuff so#will tweak tags tomorrow#will also maybe make a list of authors/books that we carry but i wish we didn't#for now I'll just say that it kinda kills me that ortland and osteen are right next to each other in the alphabet#totally kills me#pontifications and creations#At The Bookstore

The wise man will seek out the wisdom of all the ancients, and will be occupied in the prophets.
He will keep the sayings of renowned men, and will enter withal into the subtilties of parables.
He will search out the hidden meanings of proverbs, and will be conversant in the secrets of parables.
He shall serve among great men, and appear before the governor.
He shall pass into strange countries: for he shall try good and evil among men.
He will give his heart to resort early to the Lord that made him, and he will pray in the sight of the most High.
He will open his mouth in prayer, and will make supplication for his sins.
For if it shall please the great Lord, he will fill him with the spirit of understanding:
And he will pour forth the words of his wisdom as showers, and in his prayer he will confess to the Lord.
And he shall direct his counsel, and his knowledge, and in his secrets shall he meditate.
He shall shew forth the discipline he hath learned, and shall glory in the law of the covenant of the Lord.
Many shall praise his wisdom, and it shall never be forgotten.
The memory of him shall not depart away, and his name shall be in request from generation to generation.
Nations shall declare his wisdom, and the church shall shew forth his praise.
If he continue, he shall leave a name above a thousand: and if he rest, it shall be to his advantage.

Week 13: FINAL ART FRIDAY, Close-ups and Trivia
Art Piece: The Uncharted Seas
The art is complete! After guiding you through plans, sketches, and timelapses, we proudly present the final revealāwhere imagination meets the mythic at Lockett Studio. Here are five concise and surprising trivia facts about Jason and the Golden Fleece: āThe Uncharted Seasā
1. A Prophetic Entry: Jasonās arrival at King Peliasā court with one sandal fulfilled a prophecy from the Oracle of Delphi, foreshadowing not only the quest for the Golden Fleece but also Pelias' eventual downfall.
2. The Ship That Spoke: The Argo, built with sacred timber from Dodona, had a magical prow that could speak and provide divine counsel, making it not just a vessel but a participant in the Argonauts' journey.
3. Lemnosā Secret Society: The island of Lemnos, ruled by women who killed their husbands, reflects a societal inversion in Greek myth, portraying the dangers of unchecked vengeance and gender imbalance.
4. Heraclesā Abandonment: Heracles, the mightiest Argonaut, was left behind when Hylas was abducted by nymphs, showing how even the strongest hero could be sidelined by personal tragedy and fate.
5. A Bloodied Escape: Jason and Medeaās escape from Colchis involved the brutal murder of Medeaās brother, Apsyrtos, a sacrificial act that marked a moral decline and angered both Zeus and the Furies.
What do you think of Jasonās journey? From battling giants and dragons to making moral compromises, was he a true hero or a flawed leader shaped by fate and circumstance? Share your thoughts in the commentsāweād love to hear your perspective!

So. Crack AU for Helluva Boss!
-Pre-Show(ish). I.M.P are doing Assassin Stuff in Hell, Moxxie & Millie are newlyweds, and Blitz is trying to think of creative ways to improve business and make them stand out from other groups providing similar services.
-Prince Stolas is getting a Divorce! Because it's Hell, and he is Royalty, there are some Bullshit Magic Rules to follow: In order to get his preferred Custody & Division of Assets, etc, he's going to have to go through 7 UNIQUE TRIALS, each one devised by one of the 7 DEADLY SINS!
-(The 7 Trials is one of the reasons Goetia hardly ever get divorced.)
-Asmodeus, who's for a lot on his plate and isn't especially fond of or well acquainted with the repressed Prince, consults with Fizzarolli for ideas for a Trial or Quest the put him through.
-Fizzarolli, who has been drinking with Verosika, and who recently saw a commercial for I.M.P while chanel-surfing, suggests a plan that involves setting Prince Stolas up with Blitz. He thinks it would be funny, and also lead to entertaining anguish for both parties involved-- which is part of the point of the Circus of 7-Trials Divorce Court!
-Asmodeus decides to go for it!
.
Stolas, who won a Bidding-War (and provided a Prophetic Consultation on Future Investment Strategies) at Mammon's behest, completed a Race/Fetch-Quest for Queen Beezlebub, and did 1 Month of Mediated Marriage-Counselling Sessions for Princess Charlie in Pride, isn't sure WHY Asmodeus is pairing him up with the sexiest imp he's ever met in his life for this Trial, but he's determined to win against Stella (and her assigned-by-Asmodeus datemate) in this competition as well!
-Blitz would like to know why HE of all people is involved in this mess, and also, what's the catch?!
-Blitz always thought that if Fizzarolli were going to try and get him killed (for very understandable reasons), he'd use some of that $$$Big Star Money$$$ to order a hit like a normal person. There's got to be SOMETHING wrong with the Prince, right? A wall full of decoratively-mounted Imp horns, some horrible and/or horribly dangerous faults or vices... Something. Because Fizzarolli hates him, and there's no WAY there isn't a catch.
-Moxxie, Millie, and Loona would also like to know how the Hell Blitz got involved in this mess. It's bad for business, probably! Also, it's a WEIRD SITUATION!
-Anyway. Stolas and Blitz having to do some kind of Lovey-Dovey Reality TV Bullshit Quest/Competition against Stella & HER assigned Plus-One, because the Powers that Be thought it would make them entertainingly miserable.
-But they are SURPRISED!

Harrow the Ninth Reaction - Chapter 50
thirty minutes before the Emperorās murder and i still have no idea whoās gonna do it or why
Commander Wake. the commander who is Gideon's mother. who is Awake, the Sleeper. Who is in Cythereaās dead body. Cytherea being the one Gideon had a crush on. WHO IS BEING POSSESSED BY GIDEONāS DEAD MOTHER. WHO IS THE BOE LEADER, COMMANDER WAKE. iām fucking speechless what is this
also sheās calling the Emperor āGaiusā, do they fucking know each other??
omfg her full name includes āSnap me back to reality oops there goes Gravityā wtf. weirdly i feel like thats such a Gideon (Nav) name to have, except sheās taking it so seriouslyĀ
ādid the ten billion give you that too.ā āhow many babies died in the bomb Gaiusā oh this guy really did cause the apocalypse somehow didnāt he, fuuuck
scratch the others, this is the most tense tea party thereās been so far
āitās all come outā what in the worldās most dramatic intervention is this
COMMANDER WAKE ME UP INSIDEĀ
both Mercymorn and Augustine were conspiring with the BoE?? i didnāt see that coming, especially not Mercymorn
the eggs from the first message werenāt a metaphor????? they were literal goddamn eggs wtf
she was gonna kill said baby in order to enter the Locked Tomb, and nicknamed it the āBombā. um wow. why is everyoneās immediate plan in these books to jump straight to the baby murder.Ā
GIDEON (1.0) JUST KILLED HER?? again? can you even say you killed a ghost. what. what. i thought they were a thing what is going on. Gideon just saw her mother for the very first time in her life, talking about how she was planning to murder Gid as a baby, possessing the body of someone she had a crush on who also tried to kill her, get murdered. oh sheās gonna need so much counselling after this.Ā
speaking of, how the fuck did the relationship between Gideon 1.0 and Wake start, that feels very complicatedĀ
and he thought the baby was his. key word being thought. not was. then who the fuck is the baby daddy. this whole shebang would make for a very entertaining episode of Dr Phil. or whatever tv shows it is that do dna tests, i donāt watch a lot of reality tv
i really didnāt think a conception story could get more fucked up than Harrowās, but Gideonās giving her a very strong run for her money
āHi, not fucking dead. Iām Dadā YOU JUST FOUND OUT YOU HAVE A SECRET BABY WHY WOULD YOU SAY THIS. its been about a minute and heās already cracking dad jokes. is making bad puns genetic in the Locked Tomb world or something, because that would say a lot about Gideon quite franklyĀ
i cannot believe the fact that these guys were in a threesome has been plot relevant two times over now
also Gideon is the fucking. daughter of the GOD of this world i guess. well thereās an explanation for why sheās so resistant to not dying then. if he wasnāt super dead, i think Silasās reaction to this info would be so fucking funny
also. given Ianthe presumably doesnāt know about any of the details of Gideonās birth, childhood, etc. sheās gotta be even more confused than Gideon right now
also also remember when i had that dream about the Locked Tomb? my subconscious is a prophet, apparently:
#lemon natalia reads the locked tomb#tlt#the locked tomb#the locked tomb liveblog#harrow the ninth#if i had a nickel for everytime in a piece of media iām obsessed with filled with existential & body horror a character named John caused#the apocalypse and also characters who have moved their souls to other bodies have their eye colour as the tell that happened#iād have two nickels#which is not a lot but its weird that itās happened twice.Ā
