Some things I learned from watching 911
(Medical stuff ((and yes some of this I already knew but the show reiterated it for me and is important to remember))) (damn look at all those parenthesis)
Calling 911 can be more helpful than just sending first responders to you; they talk you through how to handle the emergency and give advice if you’re in distress.
Start with your name and address and what the emergency is. (All those funny one liners the show uses are not actually helpful and waste time)
If you are in a situation where it isn’t safe for you to call 911 (stuck in a house with an abuser) you can call as though you are asking for something else. Say you’re ordering pizza, or getting reservations at a restaurant or hotel. The 911 caller will walk you through what to say and how they can help you. This goes for if you cannot speak as well, pushing buttons can also work as a yes and no.
Never EVER pull out something that’s stabbed inside you. Bleeding out is a much greater risk of killing you in the moment than something like organ failure.
Of course we’re all human and make mistakes in panic situations so if you do pull out the thing; cover the wound with gauze or cloth and put pressure strong enough to keep the blood in your body.
When someone is having a heart attack the best thing to do to help is to perform cpr (if their heart stops). (All this time I’ve known cpr and NOT known the best situation I should use it in. Really thought there was nothing you could do to help someone having a heart attack).
If you’re choking, drinking water can actually be dangerous and cause whatever you’re choking on to slip further into your esophagus and make the Heimlich less effective.
Sometimes when the building you’re in is on fire, especially in a tall building, going up is the better option than going down into the fire. HOWEVER, I wouldn’t recommend this unless you’ve been give some clear indication that that is safe (being told to by the 911 dispatcher, or on scene firefighters, or if the fire is blocking your path moving forward).
Keeping consciousness but losing control of your bladder or bowls is good indication of a spinal injury. Try not to move your head or neck at all (or the person who’s been injured’s head or neck).
If the person who is injured is not in immediate danger it’s best not to move them because that could make their injuries worse.
This one’s really specific, but don’t stand under the roots of a fallen down tree. That shit can flip back up and absolutely crush you.
Landfills are fucking dangerous, stay out of there.
If you’re stuck in the desert Bobby’s little hat cover thing is your best bet to keep the sun off your face and neck.
Heart attacks and strokes symptoms present differently in women than in men so it can save a life to be aware of all of these. (Not going to list them all here). I don’t know and I don’t believe scientists know if this is due to chromosomal differences or hormonal so if you’re trans I would recommend studying up on these differences just in case.
While the 911 operator will talk children through the information they need, talking your kids through how to call 911 can be life saving. Of course this only goes for children old enough to do so and should be done in a way that doesn’t scare the children. But just making sure your child knows your address and to trust someone on the other end of the 911 call can be immeasurable.
This is not from the show, it can be important, not all fires are created (or put out) equally. If it’s an oil/grease fire water probably won’t put it out, covering it with baking soda or a lid and cutting it off from an oxygen source is your best bet. Don’t EVER use flour, it is flammable and will cause an explosion of fire in your kitchen. If it’s an electrical fire, unplug the appliance if safe to do so. If still connected to the electricity source do not use water or foam extinguishers to put it out, as these can both conduct electricity.
More than anything else I’ve learned how much the human body can live through. Even if the situation seems dire; call 911, try and get help you may be surprised what someone can survive. (Thinking of the guy with a chainsaw in his throat). The things in other shows that show people dying instantly do not necessarily cause death. Keep fighting for life because the human body is incredible.
This list is not exhaustive, please add more if you think of them! I probably will on my future rewatches.
*edit: excuse me tumblr what exactly is mature about this post???
#911#911 abc#I’ve been compiling this list in my head and just wanted to get it out#if it actually helps people I’ll be grateful#if not it’s good just for my own mind to reiterate it to myself#BUT please note I am not a medical professional nor a first responder#I double checked these but please don’t take these as faultless facts#just my little fyi warning#but this is the reading comprehension website lol

Just read a post about how you shouldn’t trust a doctor who rushes you and like, yes I fully understand the frustration, so here’s what you can do to stop yourself being rushed:
-ask for a double appointment
-ask for a triple appointment
-fuck it ask for an hour long appointment if you think it’ll help
-be outright about what you want/need from an appointment. If you need more time to process information, say that. If you need the doctor to write out all information, say that. If you have a complex case/long history, say that!
-list all the reasons why you want to see the doctor/vet that day and please don’t sugar coat it. “Been vomiting” is a ten minute fix. “Been vomiting after every meal for the past two years” is not. It needs a double appointment and possibly a referral too.
Doctors and vets are overworked to fuck and exploited to hell. Help us out a little, please
#I get the frustration I really really fucking do#But I cannot stress this enough: we do not get overtime#We don’t! If you are booked in for a fifteen minute time slot and it takes 45 minutes we run late. We lose our lunch or we go home late and#We never get that time back. We already work long hours for frankly less pay than you’d expect for someone saving lives#If I run even just fifteen minutes late after one appointment it knocks on to everything and suddenly I cannot HALT#which is the acronym to encourage medical professionals to take care of themselves to reduce human error#(Basically take a break if you’re Hungry Angry Lonely/Late or Tired)#I have known other new grads who have to stay back at work unpaid for 1-2 hours every DAY#Do you know how much that wears you out?#All I’m saying is properly booked appointments are a godsend.#Also don’t sugar coat the reason for bringing a pet into the vets.#‘I want him checked over he’s old’ and ‘I want him euthanised he’s really struggling’ are two VERY different consults#I do get people’s frustrations with doctors but this website has a tendency to forget that they’re still human#If you were forced to do unpaid labour every day because you’ve got an understaffed over exploited work force you’d probably be annoyed too#And I know a lot of people are!!! But people don’t realise medical professionals are too!!!#We’re all in the hell of late stage capitalism together and that means you pay too much for a vet/doctor who does not have#The time or resources they fucking need

okay so our mouth is still kinda sore but like... nowhere near as bad as it usually is after dentist appointments???
our jaw is kinda stiff and it's sore where the anaesthetic was injected but that's only really noticeable if we move our face a certain way, and the swelling and soreness on that one bit of gum is barely noticeable now.
I'm used to our whole face being so painful we have to keep taking pain meds for days after and end up struggling to eat solid foods because of our jaw being so bad. I'm used to having to spend like a week recovering. I don't even feel that sick from the anaesthetic but I don't think she ended up having to use that much because it kicked in so fast which never fucking happens with us normally.
I'm kind of convinced our previous dentists really were just shit at their jobs and probably fucking up our teeth more while trying to treat them.
#personal#thoughts#🍬 post#our dentist's profile on the website for the clinic said something about her enjoying making anxious patients as comfortable as possible#and like yeah she was not fucking kidding#it's weird because our brain is still like hesitant about trusting medical professionals and for good reason#but she really has just been that nice and understanding#and also I'm realising that her stopping regularly to ask if I'm okay and if I need a break and actually stopping if I need to#has probably made a huge difference in terms of us not having as many issues with medical trauma afterwards#because we were allowed to say we wanted to stop for a bit and knew we'd actually be listened to#and literally just being able to do that makes us feel a lot more in control which makes the whole experience less distressing#also I just processed that she used numbing gel on our gums before injecting the anaesthetic and we've never had a dentist do that before

Me responding to an email at work: "Blah blah blah, yes, no, here's a line for filler that probably doesn't need to be mentioned at all but it's weird if the email is too short."
Response I get back: "Thank you for saying [line I threw in as filler], I didn't know that and it was very helpful!!"
#I work in insurance so this was from a company letting us know a retiree who had our benefits passed away#and I did my best to professionally pass on condolences and say I've processed it and got the ball rolling on the life insurance payout etc#and threw in a line about how we would send his spouse the paperwork to elect those same benefits if she wants to stay on our plan#and they were very thankful I mentioned we would do that because they didn't know how that process worked at all#my approach to emails at work is#how much info would I as the reciever want so I can understand wtf is going on and why#while not overwhelming them with info that's confusing and would make it seem like I'm contradicting myself when I'm not#and apparently that's why I got a Christmas bonus this year#because I've done such a good job explaining things to our member companies in my emails#we have to CC our field team person for every email we send to a company and with my assigned states I only work with 2 of them#and the field team person for my biggest states apparently frequently sings my praises at their weekly meeting with my boss/her bosses#I've been informed on good authority everyone in Wisconsin loves me#sometimes I get thanked for my transparency and I have to re-read my email to make sure I'm not going to get in trouble for it lmao#my autism makes me want to be tooooo honest at work#why did the website try to prevent you from signing up for that specific medical plan?#idfk but I fixed it for you and here's what you need to do in case someone tries to give you trouble for it down the road#[enter gif of Mr. Incredible typing while looking dead inside]#yes I said something

if I've learned anything from grad school it's to check your sources, and this has proven invaluable in the dozens of instances when I've had an MBA-type try to tell me something about finances or leadership. Case in point:
Firefox serves me clickbaity articles through Pocket, which is fine because I like Firefox. But sometimes an article makes me curious. I'm pretty anal about my finances, and I wondered if this article was, as I suspected, total horseshit, or could potentially benefit me and help me get my spending under control. So let's check the article in question.
It mostly seems like common sense. "...track expenses and income for at least a month before setting a budget...How much money do I have or earn? How much do I want to save?" Basic shit like that. But then I get to this section:
This sounds fucking made up to me. And thankfully, they've provided a source to their claim that "research has repeatedly shown" that writing things down changes behavior. First mistake. What research is this?
Forbes, naturally, my #1 source for absolute dogshit fart-sniffing financial schlock. Forbes is the type of website that guy from high school who constantly posts on linkedin trawls daily for little articles like this that make him feel better about refusing to pay for a decent package for his employees' healthcare (I'm from the United States, a barbaric, conflict-ridden country in the throes of civil unrest, so obsessed with violence that its warlords prioritize weapons over universal medical coverage. I digress). Forbes constantly posts shit like this, and I constantly spend my time at leadership seminars debunking poor consultants who get paid to read these claims credulously. Look at this highlighted text. Does it make sense to you that simply writing your financial goals down would result in a 10x increase in your income? Because if it does, let me make you an offer on this sick ass bridge.
Thankfully, Forbes also makes the mistake of citing their sources. Let's check to see where this hyperlink goes:
SidSavara. I've never heard of this site, but the About section tells me that Sid is "a technology leader who empowers teams to grow into their best selves. He is a life-long learner enjoys developing software, leading teams in delivering mission critical projects, playing guitar and watching football and basketball."
That doesn't mean anything. What are his LinkedIn credentials? With the caveat that anyone can lie on Linkedin, Mr. Savara appears to be a Software Engineer. Which is fine! I'm glad software engineers exist! But Sid's got nothing in his professional history which suggests he knows shit about finance. So I'm already pretty skeptical of his website, which is increasingly looking like a personal fart-huffing blog.
The article itself repeats the credulous claim made in the Forbes story earlier, but this time, provides no link for the 3% story. Mr. Savara is smarter than his colleages at Forbes, it's much wiser to just make shit up.
HOWEVER. I am not the first person to have followed this rabbit hole. Because at the very top of this article, there is a disclaimer.
Uh oh!
Sid's been called out before, and in the follow up to this article, he reveals the truth.
You can guess where this is going.
So to go back to the VERY beginning of this post, both Pocket/Good Housekeeping and Forbes failed to do even the most basic of research, taking the wild claim that writing down your budget may increase your income by 10x on good faith and the word of a(n admittedly honest about his shortcomings) software engineer.
Why did I spend 30 minutes to make a tumblr post about this? Mostly to show off how smart I am, but also to remind folks of just how flimsy any claim on the internet can be. Click those links, follow those sources, and when the sources stop linking, ask why.
#long post#side note- this is one of the reasons i dont cover shit i dont like in my video essays. yall havent seen me angry.

What should men take care of when choosing online dating for doctors?
Dating apps are designed for dating and interacting with people, not just for getting more likes like on social media. To succeed on these apps, you need to develop your social skills. The same skills that help you meet and connect with people in person are crucial for finding your perfect match online. However, many people treat even the best dating app for women and men as a complete replacement for meeting people in person. This is understandable, as it seems like an ideal way to connect with many people quickly.
If you feel anxious or awkward about approaching others, online dating for doctors can feel like a safe space where you can carefully plan your interactions. However, if you are not able to get the perfect partner then here are a few mistakes you need to avoid.
Know the issue before you sign up at doctor dating website
While doctor dating websites offer a convenient way to meet new people, it's crucial not to neglect in-person social skills. Despite the digital nature of these platforms, the fundamentals of socializing still apply. Humans have evolved to communicate face-to-face, and relying solely on text and screens can weaken these essential abilities. If all your interactions happen online, you might struggle to connect in real life.
Take a chance and be creative with your bio
Tell what makes you unique and different, and people can recognize your specialness through the virtual haze. Don't say you're witty, but try making a laugh. Remember, you're selling yourself, and your buyer is a woman. Women are emotional buyers, and the real you will close the deal.
Avoid Overly Familiar Terms
When referring to someone you haven't met, avoid using terms like adorable, darling, baby, or honey. Most people find it off-putting, while some people could be okay with it.
Not keeping it Respectful
This should be obvious, but avoid sending any sexual messages before meeting in person. Even if someone's profile mentions they're not looking for anything serious or have specific interests, they still deserve respect and to be treated like a person. There's no need to introduce sexual content in the initial conversations once you sign up on best dating site for men.
Photo Guidelines
Avoid photos of yourself holding a beer. We don't care about your drink choice. Skip pictures where you're too far away, in shadow, or wearing a hat—we need to see you. Also, avoid looking ridiculous in your photos. We want to find a partner, not a party animal. Instead, post recent photos where you look happy and attractive.
Conclusion
Remember, the keyword in online dating is "dating." Meeting and building relationships still require effort and the same social skills you'd use in face-to-face interaction. Swiping right or left even on the best dating app for professionals like ForeveRx is just the beginning; making a meaningful connection involves putting your best self forward. You can avoid getting rejected the first time by avoiding these mistakes.

i should probably be trying to identify which foods make my intestines unhappy but i’m gonna be honest i don’t think cutting out dairy and bread and added sugar will help with the anhedonia like am i happy when i’m bloated and my ass hurts? no! but i’m also not happy when my brain refuses to produce dopamine and i’m working with no “official” ADHD diagnosis and therefore no treatment so i’m stuck with an extremely dulled dopamine response and am therefore drawn to foods like cheese and bread and sweets because food and music are the only legal options for dopamine acquistion… well and weed but the weed is mostly to help me cope with the chronic digestive discomfort, joint pain, myalgia, TMJ tension headaches, and anxiety >.> and even IF i did get an “official” ADHD diagnosis (why is it even listed in my MEDICAL RECORDS if it doesn’t COUNT?) there is exactly 1 drug used (in the US, maybe somewhere else has other drugs similar to modafinil idk) to treat ADHD that doesn’t significantly increase serotonin or norepinephrine levels but it actually isn’t an ADHD drug it’s a narcolepsy drug and due to medical misogyny it likely isn’t an option for me because despite being CELIBATE i have female reproductive issues and the only treatment for THOSE is fucking oral contraceptives which modafinil conveniently counteracts and the norepinephrine from other stimulants wouldn’t matter that much even with the excess norepinephrine i was producing on account of having POTS… IF SOME DUMBASS DOCTOR DIDN’T TELL ME SNRIS WERE PERFECTLY SAFE FOR PEOPLE WITH POTS AND LESS LIKELY TO CAUSE ANXIETY AND OTHER NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS THAN ADHD MEDICATION… DESPITE SNRIS NOT BEING RECOMMENDED FOR POTS PATIENTS IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE BECAUSE SHOCKINGLY, THEY INCREASE NOREPINEPHRINE LEVELS MORE THAN ADHD MEDS DO! BECAUSE ADHD MEDS DO NOT INHIBIT NOREPINEPHRINE REUPTAKE!NOR DO THEY INHIBIT SEROTONIN REUPTAKE, WHICH INCREASES SEROTONIN LEVELS! WHICH IN TURN INCREASES NOREPINEPHRINE LEVELS EVEN MORE!!!
#that man is on my kill list i literally do not care that it was a mistake. because he doesn’t care that it was a mistake.#he poisoned me because he didn’t do his research and when it disabled me further he was like not my fault you must be on meth or something#i wonder if the psych reviews i left on a couple different websites are still up i was not providing proof of my identity as a patient#so he could’ve had them removed but considering he didn’t even bother to google ‘POTS SNRI’ before committing negligent medical malpractice#i’m guessing he is completely unaware of the 0/1 star reviews where i was like ‘dont go to this guy he almost killed me’#incoherent rambling#i am so frustrated the amount of recreational drug abuse i partook in and antidepressants are what permanently fucked me up lol#i didn’t think i had to be as careful when a medical professional was advising the drug use i guess

Revolutionizing Healthcare: Digital Marketing Solutions for Medical Professionals
The healthcare industry has been experiencing a transformation, with digitalization becoming a pivotal aspect of healthcare delivery and patient engagement. In this era, where the internet has permeated every facet of our lives, it is imperative for medical professionals to leverage digital marketing solutions. This article delves into the dynamic world of healthcare digital marketing, offering insights into why it’s essential and how it can be harnessed effectively.
Understanding the Digital Age in Healthcare
The impact of digitalization in healthcare cannot be overstated. Patients are no longer solely reliant on their local physicians for medical information. They turn to the internet to research symptoms, seek treatment options, and even find healthcare providers. Understanding this shift is crucial for medical professionals.
The Changing Patient Journey in the Digital Age
The traditional patient journey, from symptom recognition to diagnosis and treatment, has evolved significantly. Patients now take an active role in their healthcare decisions, starting with online research. This shift necessitates a strong online presence for medical professionals.
Challenges in Healthcare Marketing
While the digital age offers numerous opportunities, it also presents challenges unique to the healthcare industry.
Regulatory Hurdles
The healthcare sector is subject to strict regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Navigating these regulations while conducting digital marketing can be a complex task.
Competition in the Healthcare Sector
Competition among healthcare providers is fierce. Standing out in a crowded market requires a well-thought-out digital marketing strategy.
The Power of Online Presence
An online presence is the cornerstone of any digital marketing strategy for medical professionals.
Establishing a Professional Website
A professional website serves as a digital storefront, providing essential information about your practice, services, and expertise. It’s often the first point of contact for potential patients.
The Role of Social Media in Healthcare Marketing
Social media platforms offer an opportunity to engage with patients, share valuable healthcare information, and build a community. Utilizing these platforms effectively is key to success.

These may include the use of counterfeit chemicals, unsafe/unknown ancilliary ingredients or variability of potency etc. More information can be found here (link to nhs website). // b) Do not initiate or continue prescribing puberty surpressing hormones or gender affirming hormones. In black text on white background, from the news article linked above-> It seems to us - and to those inside the NHS who have leaked the document to us - that what purports to be an "assessment" in fact an exercise in bringing very significant pressure to bear on trans youth and their families to cease private treatment, backed up with a threat of a safeguarding referral to social services if they do not. // We are concerned about what appears to be a misleading exercise in gathering data on which trans youth are obtaining private treatment from abroad, for the purposes of seeking to cause or compel them to stop treatment.
In the same thick white text on black background as previous image-> So an internal NHS document has been leaked basically asking trans kids on excruciatingly ling waiting lists to come to a 'mental health assessment' where the NHS will harvest their personal information & threaten their families with a social services referral if they're found to be on private blockers/hormones & refuse to come off them. // This country is for dogs i swear.

Here's what's going on in Ohio right now. Heavy stuff ahead.
First, I want to apologize for the misinformation in my original post. I am still learning about legislative processes. To correct: the changes to ODH and OMHAS in regards to gender therapy are not a bill, they are changes in regulations.
This is important because citizens CAN affect rule changes. There is an open commentary period where your submissions get counted and can affect how they write new regulations.
Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, legal advocate, or medical professional. I'm just a dude who had to have it all explained to me.
The first one is Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services. The rules proposed would make the already prohibitive process of gender transition even harder. In order to diagnose and treat gender dysphoria, a hospital needs to have a board certified psychologist per patient, a board certified endocrinologist familiar with the age group being diagnosed per patient, and a medical ethicist overseeing the hospital's plan for transition. 'Board certified' does not guarantee that the specialist is trans-friendly. It must include a detransition plan. Hospitals would have to report compliance annually. The professionals must have a contractual relationship with the patient, but do not need to offer in-person care. (In this instance, I'll get to that in the next rule change.)
This rule also deems it impermissible to prescribe gender transition care (this includes hormones, puberty blockers, or drugs) for anyone under the age of 21 without the approval of the professionals mentioned and 6 months of therapy.
There is an exception for intersex people, who may have their sex assigned to them without their consent.
The open comment period for this ends January 19 at 5pm.
Send an email to [email protected] with the subject title: "Comments on Gender Transition Care Rules."
The second one is Ohio Department of Health and it repeats a lot of the same as the first one. However, the focus is more on the regulation of doctors and paperwork. Anyone seeking transition will be put into a registry with their name redacted, but demographics like age, agab, specific diagnosis (difficult to achieve with the new regulations mentioned above), and any medications (not just related to gender transition, but any medications at all). Any cessation of care must be reported within 30 days.
This is a lot of paperwork and can overburden hospitals.
That 30 days cessation is important because if a person transfers doctors or if a clinic closes and the paperwork isn't filed, it may count as a 'detransition' when tallying demographics, even if that is not the case.
But what's curious is that the ODH regulations DO require in-person care. The rules are contradictory and vague.
The comment period for this ends Feb 5th.

Here are some important things that were mentioned at the meeting:
This is a good time to be personal with your statements. If this would disrupt your life in any way, please say so. "I fear that" "I believe this" "I worry that"- these are great ways to start your comment. An example one person gave is "I worry that this change in regulations would force me and my daughter to move out of state.'
With that being said, anything that you send to these sites will be public record, so be cautious about what you reveal about yourself in your comment.

This is not everything. There is unfortunately more because Ohio decided to break a record this month with anti-trans motions. But today I'm focusing on things that we can take action on.
