So my nana called me with the most bizarre list of questions.
1. Do I still have my cat backpack, and do I like it?
Yes, I still have it. But I don’t think that would work for you as cats are heavier than you think (read: you’re 80, you cannot lift your obese cat.)
2. What do you think of those automatic litter boxes?
I love them, they are very convenient. They break after a year because capitalism but it’s still worth the convenience! (Read: please god get this you never scoop your boxes and your poor cat goes to the bathroom everywhere because he doesn’t want to walk over the carpet of his own feces that is his litter box)
3. How do you cook bratwurst?
…what? You- you put it in a frying pan and brown it off. Do you boil it? God no. I guess technically you could- oh. You boiled it for ten minute. Is that enough? I have no earthly idea, but probably? You could still put it in a pan and brown it (although at this point let’s be honest, it’s not gonna taste good after the ordeal.)
#ramblies#my nana is very crazy#my betrothed said once ‘I work with a lot of old people in healthcare but your nana is the weirdest I’ve ever met’#she then asked if I could help her sell her stuff on marketplace and I spent twenty minutes explaining why I would never throw her to that#I promised to help her set up OfferUp instead where I feel more confident in her ability to not get scammed#but marketplace is a fucking hellscape

Banging on the walls chanting "OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR ACA THRU JAN 15" like some deranged town crier. Election results aside, you have options to access healthcare as a RIGHT through the ACA. NO one can dismantle the Affordable Care Act in less than 4 years, so SIGN UP! GET YOUR CARE! USE THE SYSTEM!
You have options RIGHT NOW that will be stable thru the next year, the one after that, and I'd be shocked to see them shrink even the year after that. That means RIGHT NOW you can get signed up for next year to gain 100% covered preventative care (your annual check ups, pap smears, dental cleaning, vision check). You have the option to get checked and screened as you need, do NOT be dissuaded from exploring ACA choices. They are SOLID, LEGISLATED, and WORK BEST WHEN PEOPLE USE THEM.
I can't change most things around me, BUT I CAN tell everyone I know that THEY CAN GET LIFE SAVING CARE. THEY CAN GET PRESCRIPTIONS. THEY CAN GET PREGNANCY CARE. THEY CAN GET CANCER CARE. AND THEY WILL GET THAT CARE!!!!!!
SIGN UP BY DECEMBER 15, 2024 FOR COVERAGE TO BEGIN ON JANUARY 1, 2025. ENROLLMENT AFTER 12/15/24 WILL HAVE COVERAGE BEGINNING FEBRUARY 1, 2025.

Understanding Pennsylvania Health Insurance Marketplace
The Pennsylvania Health Insurance Marketplace is a critical resource for individuals and families looking to access affordable healthcare coverage. Managed by the state, the marketplace offers a range of health insurance options through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and it provides an opportunity for residents to compare plans, check eligibility for subsidies, and enroll in coverage. Understanding how the Pennsylvania marketplace works is crucial for those seeking affordable health insurance options.
What Is the Pennsylvania Health Insurance Marketplace?
The Pennsylvania Health Insurance Marketplace, known as Pennie, was established by the state government to provide an online platform for residents to shop for health insurance. Before 2020, Pennsylvania relied on the federal marketplace (HealthCare.gov), but the state took control to better tailor the process to its residents' needs. Pennie enables individuals and families to purchase health insurance plans that meet the requirements of the ACA, ensuring access to essential health benefits and financial protections.
Types of Plans Available
The marketplace offers four categories of health plans—each with different levels of coverage and costs. These categories include:
Bronze: Plans with the lowest premiums but higher out-of-pocket costs. Bronze plans cover about 60% of healthcare costs, meaning the policyholder will pay a larger share of the costs when they need care.
Silver: Plans with moderate premiums and moderate out-of-pocket costs. Silver plans cover about 70% of healthcare costs and are the most common choice for those who qualify for subsidies.
Gold: Plans with higher premiums but lower out-of-pocket costs. Gold plans cover about 80% of healthcare costs, making them a good option for those who expect to need a lot of medical care.
Platinum: Plans with the highest premiums but the lowest out-of-pocket costs. Platinum plans cover about 90% of healthcare costs, making them ideal for those who require frequent medical services.
Financial Assistance and Subsidies
One of the most significant advantages of using the Pennsylvania Health Insurance Marketplace is the availability of financial assistance. The ACA provides subsidies in the form of premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions (CSRs) to help lower the cost of coverage for eligible individuals and families. Eligibility for subsidies depends on factors such as income, household size, and the cost of coverage in the area.
Premium Tax Credits: These are designed to reduce monthly premiums for individuals and families with income between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level (FPL).
Cost-Sharing Reductions (CSRs): These reduce out-of-pocket expenses such as deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance for those who have a household income between 100% and 250% of the FPL. These reductions are available only with Silver plans.
Pennie also offers a special enrollment period (SEP) for those who experience qualifying life events such as marriage, birth of a child, loss of job-based insurance, or relocation.
How to Enroll
Enrollment in the Pennsylvania Health Insurance Marketplace occurs during the open enrollment period each year. For the 2024 plan year, open enrollment typically runs from November to January, but dates can vary, so it’s essential to check for updates. During this time, individuals and families can browse available plans, determine their eligibility for subsidies, and choose a plan that best suits their healthcare needs.
If you miss the open enrollment period, you can still apply for health insurance through a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) if you experience a qualifying event, such as a change in your employment status or a significant change in household income.
Medicaid and CHIP
In addition to health insurance plans through Pennie, Pennsylvania residents may be eligible for Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). These programs provide free or low-cost health coverage for eligible low-income individuals and children. Enrollment in these programs is open year-round, and eligibility is based on factors such as income, household size, and age.
Conclusion
The Pennsylvania Health Insurance Plans offers an essential platform for residents to access affordable health insurance. By comparing plans, understanding eligibility for subsidies, and enrolling during open enrollment, individuals and families can secure coverage that meets their healthcare needs while staying within their budget. Whether through private plans or Medicaid/CHIP, Pennie ensures that Pennsylvania residents have a variety of options to ensure their health and well-being.

i think i could do testosterone every other week or possibly every three weeks to make it go longer
i have at least two more refills i can do so that’s twelve shots in addition to the three i currently have, so every three weeks would keep me going for… almost a year actually
assuming of course a law isnt passed to make hrt illegal but even then that would only stop me from getting more
#i say two refills because the one after that would be mid-january#idk how fast they’ll get rid of the healthcare marketplace but probably fast#my job offers insurance but it’s shitty#and the owners of the company are deeply conservative so i doubt it’ll cover hrt#hrt is like $50+ out of pocket and PP visits are almost like $200 without insurance i think#i could maybe manage to pay for it out of pocket but idk#if my primary care doesnt take the new insurance i’ll have to find a new one too#FUCK i wish i had been able to get a hysterectomy this year like i wanted#i wouldnt be as worried about hormones if i had
