Self-reminders today:

Resting is an important part of creating and doing.

There is more to resting than just sleeping.

Resting means letting yourself be idle of body and idle of mind.

Resting replenishes mental and physical strengths.

There is nothing virtuous about resisting rest.

There is nothing virtuous about working without rest.

Idleness and rest are not wrong or lazy.

Allowing yourself to rest enhances your creativity and allows you to do better work.

There is nothing about resting that should make you feel guilty.

You need rest.

Discipline over talent When asked if he truly trained every day at dawn, Mike Tyson responded: "I run at 4 a.m. because I know my opponent is still asleep. That gives me an advantage. If I find out my opponent is running at 4 a.m., I'll start running at 2 a.m. And if someone trains at 2 a.m., I'll stop sleeping just to keep training." This mindset speaks volumes. No matter how much talent you have, it won't take you far without the grit and discipline to outwork your competition. Talent alone isn't enough – consistency, sacrifice, and relentless effort are what truly separate the best from the rest. Prioritize discipline over everything.

Swinging a bat at a hornet's nest, but I keep seeing the opinion go around that it's insensitive to say that we'll make it through the next 4 years because so many people didn't the first time around. Which, I guess I see the point, but like... do you expect all of us to just be like this for the next 4 years???

I totally get why some people can't feel hopeful, but insinuating that someone else is in the wrong for being able to stay optimistic just isn't productive or, in my opinion, a reasonable expectation. We all react to stressful times differently and not only is that okay, but it should be encouraged that people work through this however they personally need to and in whichever emotional state they end up in.

i was rereading the story dialog for the sephirah while ago (upper layer so far considering i have a doc to contain all of my ramblings and thoughts once looking it over and getting actual lines to be able to know exactly what was said to base my feelings off of rather than the pure unfiltered pain or i suppose somewhat shock at first and those garbled memories of what happened) and after reading tiphereth's and then going to netzach's again it's just.

imagine you have to see what is deemed your other half, the person keeping you sane, your only companion you actually love and like, your literal ‘twin’ have to get crushed but some bum that never does his job and can easily be seen as 'not meeting standards' does get the same treatment at all when your own brother had been destroyed for less like spiraling into some dangerous stains of thoughts (thought be fair he did end up not as respondent and at that point already had what i'll inadequately describe as 'memory leakage' . But from the general idea of the side of tiphereth). he'll be more better than that drug addict ever will be in her eyes, someone who can't even do a report on time and even then is half assed to where at that point they'd just do it themself in the first place. he'll be way better, someone who is quite literally her family. yet why is her brother the only one that needs to suffer through that constant degradation of the soul? the constant wiping of the self? the memories made and lost? why the hell is someone that should deserve it in her eyes, someone so unmotivated and lazy, someone who she deems as a person not able to do a single thing right, not having that happen to them? why is it the person she loves so dearly, so close to her that she wishes would've stayed instead of some now hollow husk and imitation of imprinted memories when that hasn't happened to Any One Else? why does she have to go through all of that, having to see someone that she used to know and adore turn into a hollow husk and imitation of what once was - having to feel as if shes already looking at a walking corpse with memories shoved inside - just for someone like Netzach to not end up crushed to pieces.

I hate to break it to Republicans but at this point most of the so called "DEI hires" in workplaces are white men who don't have the skills, certificates, degrees, and/or experience for the job and only got their positions because a friend of a friend got them hired. Like women, non-white people, queer people, disabled people, and many others all know they'd be first on the chopping block at their job which is why they are usually the ones most qualified, and even overqualified, in their workplace. They're the ones with the degrees, years of experience, tons of skills, and who meet or exceed expectations at their job. They're the ones who work their asses off and keep the place running. And when it comes to cutting people, managers and administrators only care about who can keep the lights on and the numbers high. So Bradley, who only got the job because a family member convinced the manager to hire him even though he was not qualified at all, and he's doing the bare minimum every month, and he sucks to work with, is getting cut first. Simple as that.

I haven’t read the books so perhaps I don’t have the full context for what TFP Shockwave’s experiments were like, whether he went in with a question to be answered or coming up with a hypothesis after the fact to justify the means, but I’d think it’d be interesting if he kinda had like… all the scientifically proven basis to form a question and ask a particular bizarre scenario.

Like for instance, Shockwave might have countless evidence that torture is not as effective of an interrogation technique as apparently both sides make it out to be (if OP’s threat to Soundwave was any indication of anything), but instead of testing a much nicer method, Shockwave develops the cortical psychic to GUARANTEE the authenticity of the information instead of idk, appealing to the captive. Might even suggests that the evidence points to flaws on both the tortured (prone to lying just to get out sooner) AND the torturer (subject to distraction and accepting conflicting statements), rather than solely one party or the other.

The thing is though, it’s hard to wonder WHAT questions Shockwave may seek an answer for, unknown questions that somehow connect with just a lot of predacon DNA (either their revival or in hybridisation). Because offering the alternative - senseless scientific violence - seems a very bland motive or whatever this would be ESPECIALLY for Shockwave; the cold pursuit of science is his mojo not to affront it.

Eh, whatever. Guess this is me just thinking about the logic tree Shockwave might follow to get a new experiment running, and doing so in a way that doesn’t just amount to ‘mad scientist for the sake of a smart guy torturer’ or whatever lmao-

if your friends are all graduating, but you aren't even close, or planning to? that's okay.

if your friends are all getting married, but you aren't in a situation or place for that to happen? that's okay.

if your friends are in a better place financially? that's okay.

don't get me wrong, it sucks fat balls watching the people around you have something you've been working really hard for/ something that you really want- but their success has no relation to yours. it doesn't mean that you did anything wrong, or that they did anything right. it's two separate stories that really have no relation to each other except for the fact that they live in the same dimension.

stop beating yourself up for shit like that. i promise you are doing a great job, and you're where you are meant to be.
