Worshipping Poseidon
Chronically ill and homeless edition <3
Water is NOT a lazy offering. Drink it in honor of him, do libations with it, stir in some flavorings clockwise for an energy boost
Relax with some ocean soundscapes in the background, or while you walk place to place
Decorate your mobility aids with ocean scenery or cute little sharks and trident stickers.
Wear jewelry that you may have and carry with you Keep in mind that He does not judge, and if you are away and cannot handle an alter space, that is okay. Everything is okay, and he is still there even if you don't feel his presence for a time being.

1) Poseidon, dark-haired god of all waters, by whose will alone do sailors fare in safety. Lord of the black sea depths, swirling dark and deep, swift in thought, sure in deed, fervent in feeling, the ocean's caprice is yours,
O Poseidon; overwhelming one, I praise and honor you.
Mighty Poseidon, unfathomable god, I pray to you. You at whose touch sweet water springs forth, at whose whim the earth breaks open beneath our feet, whose pure power we feel in our bones and our blood, show me life's essence, life's rage; pull me like the tide; grant me safe harbor at last, shield me from storms.
2) May Posideon ward floods, earthquakes, and others from you.
3) Poseidon of the white-capped waves, dark-haired god of the the cold salt sea, of raging rivers and sweetwater springs,
Ancient one, in Knossos and in Thebes your name was known, carved with care on tablets of clay, spoken softly, prayerfully, in old Mycenae.
World-shaker, god who holds in hand the bones of the deep earth,
In Corinth were you well honored with games of skill and prowess;
Throughout the land your temples stood, shining and tall.
The sea depths are yours, Poseidon; your palace lies on the ocean floor, far removed from Olympos heights and yet a glorious dwelling in your wondrous realm.
Bearer of the trident, stirrer of storms, master of horses, granter to mankind of many gifts, Poseidon, mighty son of Kronos, I praise you.

A Prayer to Poseidon
King Poseidon, unrivaled master of the maritime theatre, ocean father, hear my pleas on the edge of your kingdom and its beaches of seafoam, humor me by listening to the sounds of my tome:
I bathe in your love, from which Aphrodite sprang, I walk in the riptide of the navy blue ocean and it’s all powerful range, I admire the creatures that fill your domain.
Lead me to treasure, of agates and glass, of sand dollars and seashells, and mysterious things. Show me your splendor, show me your wake, bathe me in moonlight and salt of the sea.
Feed us with fish from your rich naval wonders, filling the nets with salmon and scallops, and please grant us safe passage through your fearsome harbors.
I adore thee, Poseidon, god of sea, grant me this blessing, of oceanic wonder, to see what I seek.
Blessed be the ocean king Poseidon. 💙🌊🔱

i sing to thee, poseidon — o lord of the everdark waters — to him who moves the earth, who feeds from the fruitless sea, o savior, helper, destroyer, & god — i sing to thee. give me the heart to look upon the storm ; give grace to my feet, let me step through upon unbroken water & let the earth tremble with your strength. lord of the sea — vast and endless is your glory as radiant as sunlight through gentle tides ; bless me to be as foam upon the waters — spray upon the wind — my boat unshattered and constantly sailing towards your sharp horizons —

Hail and Blessed be towards Poseidon!
Here’s my Poseidon playlist I made for Him! He helped pick the songs and what he likes and what he doesn’t like. There’s a mixture of everything in this playlist from rock to country to sea shanties to Disney! He loves the mixture because it reaches all walks of his followers, and He enjoys them, too :3.

As an Artemis and Poseidon Devotee, both deities who have many myths and hurtful assumptions believed of them, this is a very important post.
• Poseidon is not a rapist, he was a masculine and fatherly figure who was perverted by patriarchal Grecian men who saw him as an idol for their misogyny, and wrote up many a myth in which he does terrible things to women. This is simply not true, Poseidon was a father figure who respected and saw many of the female deities in the Parthenon as either his daughters or sisters, hence the common reference to Poseidon as “father” by many of his modern pagan devotees, partially because multiple gods and goddesses were born of his fertile domain, including Aphrodite, who was born of sea-foam. Although he certainly can be violent and impulsive, he is not inherently malicious. these are also characteristics more meant to be representative of the ocean itself than of him as a god. Essentially, Poseidon is a stern father who gives his devotees and children stern love.
• in contrast, Artemis was not a misandrist, she did not hate or try to kill non-virgins, she doesn’t hate sex, and she had many male or androgynous followers. In fact, as the patron goddess of pregnant women and childbirth, one could argue sex and virile men were actually quite important to her domain. The idea that she hates any of these things is something that is exaggerated off of the fact that she personally remained chaste and a virgin as a virtue, and to better represent the children and women she looked after, and she tended to stay away from men to protect this. That doesn’t mean however, that she “hates men” or doesn’t value her male, trans, or androgynous devotees and followers.
I’ve been seeing a lot of people in the helpol community being extremely disrespectful to deities who are mythologically associated with more negative traits.
A common argument for the translations of the Bible are that it was written by a man, and therefore should not be taken literally as the words and actions of God.
We need to keep that same energy here. The gods are not their myths. Myths were written by man, not gods. Take them with a grain of salt. Do your research to understand what political and social influences may have taken place in the text. And remember that holding a deity to the standards of their mythology is unrealistic. Zeus is not an awful god, Poseidon is not a god who is only capable of anger. The gods are multifaceted.

When you step into sunlight, you honor Apollo. When you admire the moon, you honor Artemis. When you admire cloud shapes, you honor Hera. When you smell petrichor, you honor Zeus. When you laugh at a joke, you honor Hermes. When your body twitches to dance at a particularly upbeat music, you honor Dinoysus. When you enjoy the first bite of your breakfast, you honor Demeter. When you choose your peace over any conflict, you honor Athena. When you warm yourself up by sheltering yourself in blanket, you honor Hestia. When you listen to Ocean sounds, you honor Poseidon. When you smell flowers, you honor Persephone. When you admire the coolness of first day of Autumn, you honor Hades. When you wear your favourite jewellery, you honor Hephaestus. When you smile, you honor Aphrodite. When you exercise, you honor Ares. When you light a torch in a dark room, you honor Hekate.
Your body is a shrine to Gods, your being an act of devotion for them. You, by yourself, are enough for them.
