You can find Aphrodite when you gush over romcoms. You can find Zeus when the rain pours and soaks your hair. You can find Hera when you're loyal to your friends and partners. You can find Ares when you argue with your parents over the causes you believe in. You can find Apollo when the sun caresses your cheek.
The gods are everywhere—you just need to know where to look.

Weekly Ares post. Happy Tuesday.
Things that may not count as offerings/devotional acts but I still think of Him when I do it:
Fixing my posture
Stopping myself from lashing out
Lashing out
Studying
Calling out hypocrites
Reading angsty romantic stories, especially those with some violence
Work/ labor, especially ones that gets my hands dirty
Challenging myself to do things within a time limit
Having a good cry
Forcing myself out of bed
Self-care, even if I really don't feel like doing it
Playing violent video games
Staying sober
Reading posts about him
Wearing masculine clothing while strutting around like a feminine model
Tidying my room
Wearing red
Carrying around self-defense weapons
Being stubborn
Unmasking
When something physically hits me
Being honest
Shadow work
Failing but trying again
Hail Lord Ares

Father Ares is the feeling of holding on even when it feels so hard.
He’s the sound of your heart beating, and lets you know you’re still alive.
He’s the courage to keep going, no matter what happens.
He’s the feeling of doing what you needed to.
He’s the feeling of not being afraid anymore.
He is Strength and Courage.
Praise to Father Ares. Ily dad ^^^^

Ares is the feeling of pretending to be asleep in the car as a kid to get carried inside
Ares is the relief after yelling, screaming, or crying
Ares is the way that siblings will argue and fight, and be back on good terms within a few hours
Ares is a sore throat after singing so loudly to a song that perfectly encompasses all the emotions you’re feeling
Ares is a smug smile after doing something You’re proud of yourself for
Ares is standing up for yourself, even when you’re anxious to do so
Ares is for everyone who has a bad relationship with their father, and for the people who look for a better father figure elsewhere
Ares is breaking the cycle
Ares is trying every day, even though it’s so fucking hard sometimes
Ares is swearing for emphasis
Ares is angry crying
Ares is doing whatever you can to protect yourself, and letting go when it starts to harm you
I love Him so much.

I rant at 5 in the morning tehe
I’ve been seeing a rise of people getting upset at the fact that people are acting like the gods are our imaginary friends, and not deities that deserve worship and respect. Which, I totally agree with. I absolutely hate it when people act like our religion is a silly little fandom that they can make up their own factoids.
But, at the same time, I think many people in the community who have more serious worship styles, are forgetting that not everyone does.
When the posts are saying “the gods aren’t your friends” or something along the lines of that, really just completely disregards people who have more casual, more friend like relationships with their deities! I treat Thanatos more as a friend than anything.
I am still respectful, I don’t call him any of the things I would call my best friend, (because me and my irl friends call eachother gay bastards) but, I do silly shit with him, as I would with a friend. I’ve also asked him if he wanted me to start being less casual, and he immediately said no. He likes the bond we have.
I take on a more serious approach with Lord Ares and Lady Aphrodite. I feel it suits them better. I don’t think I could say some of the things I say to Thanatos to Ares or Aphrodite (once I stuck my tounge out at him because he wouldn’t let me sing him happy birthday. I apologize don’t worry, he laughed at me and said it was funny. I feel bad about it still 😭) but to me it’s the difference between the way you talk to your friend and the way you talk to a mentor/guardian.
I think @khaire-traveler made a similar point to me. Anyways, my point is. Yes, I agree it is annoying how people outside of the community (and inside sometimes) disrespect the gods and treat the religion as fandom. But, I do think we need to remember that not all of us worship the same :)

💞Aphrodite & Ares⚔️
I recently got a Greek mythology book as there are some aspects I am still unaware of.. and one of those were Ares and his myths. After reading the myths, I love him. Like I already thought he was cool, but now it's on a whole different level...
The painting in the center (Alexandre Charles Guillemot, Mars and Venus Surprised by Vulcan, 1827.) has become one of my favorite paintings. It's so beautiful.
