Three 2024 Maps: Trump’s Highway to Victory and Biden’s Tightrope
Josh Sager – 7/2/2024 Based on current polling numbers and trends, there are three maps that describe the outer edges of what we can expect in the 2024 election. Trump has a wide highway to victory, and can afford to lose multiple battleground states before he is in danger, while Biden has a chance to win, but it is by traversing the narrowest possible electoral tightrope. Ultimately, I suspect…

Whilst Mary's and Elizabeth's supporters nailed their colours to the mast, Richmond's activities give little clue as to his inclination. At the Chapter of the Order of the Garter held in April 1536, Richmond voted both for Anne's brother, Lord Rochford, and for Sir Nicholas Carew, who was no supporter of the Boleyns. His action probably reflected the mood of much of the court as they waited to see which way the die would fall.
The Life and Political Significance of Henry Fitzroy, Duke of Richmond, 1525-1536. (Murphy, A. Beverley)

HEY FLORIDA
Abortion rights are on the ballot next week, and we need sixty percent of voters to VOTE YES ON AMENDMENT 4
You can help make this a reality - even if you live in rural Florida, even if you barely have time to leave the house, even if you live with people who don’t care that abortion bans kill women. (Even if you don’t live in Florida, actually, but just want to phone or text bank or donate money)
You can learn how to help by joining a call with the Yes on 4 team tonight, Monday the 28th, here.
If the only thing you can do is vote, then that’s okay, too. YOUR VOTE IS SECRET
Your parents, your husband, your pastor can never learn how you voted. YOU can help restore abortion rights for millions of women in Florida and abortion access for the whole southeast.
What Amendment Four does: it prevents the state of Florida from imposing restrictions on women’s access to reproductive healthcare and abortion, but does not overturn the Florida constitutional amendment that requires parental notification if a minor seeks an abortion. In effect, it restores the standard that Roe set. Here’s the text:
No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider. This amendment does not change the Legislature’s constitutional authority to require notification to a parent or guardian before a minor has an abortion.
Join the fight at Floridians Protecting Freedom.

portia definitely has a few run ins with the ghost crew and it’s not that they’re enemies (they are, for all intents and purposes, on the same side) but things never go very well

This is especially true when-- even if every single person on the planet did everything that's recommended to cut down on one's carbon footprint-- production lines will still dump toxic wastes into our water, corporations will still cling to using fossil fuels and bad-faith legislators will still actively reverse the effects of ecologically positive activism.
The system needs to change. Individuals are a drop in the bucket in comparison to what the rich and powerful can do. And capitalism only empowers that disparity. Money talks.
We need to continue fighting to change the status-quo. Or else the Earth will literally burn, right along with us.
Trying to keep your footprint as low as possible is a great way to self-destruct.
And I'm not saying this to people who take two hour showers during international flights while shoving red meat into their mouth. I'm saying this to my fellow activists who feel conflicted about heating their home on fossil fuels even though they don't have any other options (and struggle to afford it).
Like, we can talk about how 'consumer choice' is never going to save the planet and stuff, but more importantly: You are not a sin. Your basic needs deserve to be met. You deserve to be warm and filled with food that satisfies you and you deserve to see your friends.
We are not fighting to save 'the planet', that's a piece of rock. We want to save ecosystems and plants and animals, including people. You are part of that. Don't leave yourself out of the list of creatures that deserve to thrive.

"The Fighting Men Of Russia As Seen Through A Soviet Camera," Toronto Star. April 26, 1943. Page 19. ---- AT THE ALERT guarding the sky over Moscow are these soldiers shown at their anti-aircraft post. Kept busy elsewhere in Russia and weakened by constant hammering of the R.A.F., the Luftwaffe has made no attempt to drop bombs on Moscow for many months. This and other pictures on this page are from the Soviet documentary film "Russians at war."
RUSSIAN HERO is Sergt. Korol who received the Order of the Red Star for his part in shooting down two Junkers and five Messerschmitt fighters.
STREET FIGHTERS have played a glorious part in the battle for Russia's cities as the Soviet army pushed back the Nazis. Typical street fighter in this Russian soldier, sighting his rifle.
A SPECIAL PAGE in the history of Russia's glorious fight in this war will be devoted to the guerrillas who, without uniforms or rank, are risking their lives to harass the enemy. Here an informal funeral service is held for a dead guerrilla. Note the wooden grave marker.

Toby Keith Fights For Drinkin Fightin Deregulation
From the archives of Oklahoma’s great political satire writers of decades past, we bring you this classic reprint of a spoof that caused more than a little irritation to the political class on Lincoln Blvd.
OKLAHOMA CITY (OP) –
Country music superstar Toby Keith is asking lawmakers to deregulate the state’s drinkin’ and fightin’ industries. The 43-year-old Oklahoma native says government oversight has stunted the field.
“Some times you just gotta get drunk and put a boot up someone’s ass,”
 said Keith.
Currently, state laws regulate the time, place and manner in which an individual may consume alcohol. Keith says such laws prevent many from entering the profession on a full time basis.
Furthermore, said Keith, current anti-fighting laws discourage the use of pool cues and broken beer bottles.
Sen. Frank Shurden, D-Hanna, will carry a similar bill in the Senate, along with an amendment that will legalize kicking city boys’ scrawny asses.

Kilowog's all day music festival ta' celebrate this fascist hellscape we call home continues!
Now you may ask, why'm I postin' some song in Italian? Well, because it's one a' the most endurin' antifascist songs in all a' history, an' it's real catchy. It's about the Italian partisans who fought against fascism, and here's th' lyrics in English:
One morning I woke up, oh goodbye beautiful, goodbye beautiful, goodbye beautiful, bye, bye, bye One morning I woke up And I found the invader. Oh partisan, take me away, oh goodbye beautiful, goodbye beautiful, goodbye beautiful, bye, bye, bye oh partisan, take me away Because I feel as if I’m going to die. And if I die a partisan, oh goodbye beautiful, goodbye beautiful, goodbye beautiful, bye, bye, bye and if I die a partisan then you must bury me. Bury me up in the mountain, oh goodbye beautiful, goodbye beautiful, goodbye beautiful, bye, bye, bye bury me up in the mountain under the shade of a beautiful flower. And the people who pass by, oh goodbye beautiful, goodbye beautiful, goodbye beautiful, bye, bye, bye and the people who pass by, will tell me “what a beautiful flower.” This is the flower of the partisan, oh goodbye beautiful, goodbye beautiful, goodbye beautiful, bye, bye, bye this is the flower of the partisan who died for freedom.
