Hello 👋 My name is Abdullah. My family and I have been living in Gaza, enduring over 400 days of war. Our lives today are reduced to displacement camps, with a severe lack of food and clothing, and the bitter cold of winter that shows no mercy.

I was a third-year Software Engineering student at Al-Azhar University in Gaza before the war, but unfortunately, my university was completely destroyed. Despite everything, I have not lost hope and am determined to continue my education outside Gaza, along with my siblings. However, the blockade and closed borders have made leaving Gaza an almost impossible dream; the cost of leaving exceeds $4,000 per person, a sum far beyond my family’s means.

Before the war, my father worked as a taxi driver, but he lost his livelihood when his car and our home were destroyed. We have faced fear, death, displacement, and hunger, and we are left with nothing but hope.

My only sister, Aseel, was in her final year of high school. Her dream was to become a doctor, like my elder brother Khaled, who is currently studying medicine in Egypt. However, the war shattered her dream and prevented her from completing her education.

As for my three younger brothers, Mohammad, Omar, and Yousef, they are still in their childhood years. But their childhood has been stolen by the war. Instead of enjoying a safe and joyful life, their days are now spent standing in lines for water and food, rather than playing and having fun like other children around the world.

We desperately need help to leave Gaza and escape the fear, death, and displacement. Our life was beautiful under the shadow of our close-knit family, where we lived together in moments of joy and happy memories. My father was the pillar of our family, striving to earn a living and provide us with everything we needed. However, as it often happens, things changed suddenly. My father was forced to travel far away in search of work that would restore hope and provide us with a decent life.

He left us alone in Gaza, facing challenges and difficulties on our own. As time passed, war came like a storm, bringing with it tragedy and pain. Shells fell around us, and we lost our home, which held our memories; everything turned into a painful nightmare.

We lived in refugee camps, where our dreams faded and our pains increased. Dangerous diseases attacked our weakened bodies, and pain gripped our hearts. Our family was scattered, and we no longer had a safe haven.

We now call upon everyone who can help. We need your assistance to travel and reunite with our father, whom we have not been able to see for years. We want to escape this war, to rebuild what has been destroyed, and to dream again of a safe and stable life.

Let us stand together to spread hope in our hearts and the hearts of those who suffer. Your help can be a way to save us from this cycle of pain. Together, let’s prepare to face tomorrow.

great question. while a lot of these gofundmes started to fund evacuations, since the border will not open they have shifted to covering the costs of daily survival in gaza

the cost of food alone in gaza right now has been reported by journalists on the ground (including @siraj2024) to be 20 times the normal price.

and it varies based on location. the north is currently being starved by the IOF so food prices are higher

and there is a lot of evidence on tumblr that proves that these fundraisers do help

@ma7moudgaza2 was able to buy a tent for his family and is currently trying to pay for a solar panel

@siraj2024 was able to secure rent for a (bombed out, but still) apartment for his family over the winter

@mohdiwais was able to fund medical care for his sister after she was shot by the IOF using funds he raised on tumblr

a gaza-based charity called care for gaza has also been directly assisting families with funds used from their gofundme. they even post videos of themselves giving out food

and those are just a few examples. hope this helped!

Asking for help is not easy; it’s very embarrassing, especially for a family that used to live a decent life. My husband and I completed our university education with distinction, worked in respectable jobs, and were used to helping others, not asking for help. But the war has turned our lives into a nightmare; we lost our home, our sources of income, and even our ability to provide the simplest of needs.

I'm Hanan. For the past 13 months, we have been struggling to get healthy food and medicine for my child, whose weak body was attacked by infection, and for my elderly mother-in-law, who fell into a coma for several days and almost lost her life due to anemia caused by our inability to provide healthy food, as prices have risen more than 10 times. Now, we have run out of everything. While you are reading my message, my family and I are trying to survive amidst all kinds of suffering.

What was once a beautiful dream and reality has now become a nightmare. Starvation is one thing, but starving, freezing, and being forced to flee in the middle of the night when tanks suddenly arrive in your area, running for your life and your family’s life under fire, leaving behind everything you built over the years, and returning after 5 months of suffering in displacement and tents to find that your home, where you lived your happiest moments, is nothing but rubble, is something completely different! 💔😓

Can you feel my broken heart now? Can you imagine what I’m going through at this moment? Everything I am living now cannot be described with words, and every moment here is filled with pain and fear. We desperately need your help, as we live in hope of escaping Gaza to save our lives and live safely away from the explosions.

Urgent help

I am Ola Ferwana from Palestine ,Gaza. I'm a mother of 3 kids Yamen, Qusai and Mira. My husband travelled to Egypt to get medicines before 2 days of the war 7 of October on Gaza and he was stuck in Egypt until this moment.

I faced very great challenges and responsibilities of my three children in the absence of my husband, as he had traveled and the crossing was closed and we could not see each other. The amount of suffering I was feeling cannot be described as still being in the north of Gaza.I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart and a plea for urgent assistance. I have left my home and have been displaced more than 8 times with my children. I am living in the war_torn region of Gaza, facing unimaginable challenges, with lack of water, food scarcity, and constant threats to their safety.

This is our street of my house, the Israeli occupation damaged all the houses.

I have delivered a girl baby,Mira , through the war, She was 10 months old and my husband didn't see her until this moment.

Yaman was 7 years old, and his simplest dream was to complete the first grade at school, but his school was completely destroyed. He lost the most beautiful thing that he was happy with and enjoyed that he had reached this stage.

Qusai is 5 years old, and until this moment I do not have the courage to tell him that his kindergarten was also destroyed, the first place and refuge in which he was happy, but in this war he lost everything beautiful. He lost his father’s hug, which was his only refuge when he slept at night, telling him his daily story to fall asleep safety.

Mira, my daughter, who had never seen an hour or a moment devoid of fear, came into this world and was surprised by a war that destroyed many, many things. It destroyed her house and her room, which I was waiting for as I prepared and brought her all the beautiful clothes and colorful dresses she needed. She was surprised by the sound of missiles. She could not sleep because of it. My husband hopes to get a smile and a hug from her daughter Which he had been waiting for some time.

We lack of the basic human needs, no food no electricity no water. We were poisoned and infected because of the unhealthy water that we drink.

My three children and I had to be hospitalized. We suffered from liver dysfunction as a result of malnutrition, widespread diseases, and recurring infection.

During this period, I felt remorseful about how difficult it is for a mother to see her children sick and unable to treat them because she is also very sick.

The Rafah border crossing, which is the only way to escape from the war, is closed now.

I hope to provide us by giving support in order to cover the costs associated with ensuring our safe passage of Egypt through the borders.
