â... To achieve true progress, the Saudi authorities must uphold their obligations under international human rights law by urgently amending the Personal Status Law and repealing provisions that discriminate against women, including those related to the male guardianship system. They must also ensure that women have equal rights and responsibilities with regards to marriage, divorce, custody and guardianship over their children, and inheritance. ...â

We are well beyond canary in the coalmine warning levels with the way trans people and particularly trans women are treated on this site.
Maybe you've heard the metaphor of allowing wolves and sheep to share the same space, welcoming everyone. You end up with just wolves because allowing them in that space makes it unsafe for any sheep. Or the story about how a nazi goes into a dive bar and is refused service. The bartender then explains to someone else at the bar that if you serve them once they tell their friends and before you know it you're the nazi bar they all go to and normal customers don't feel safe.
Terfs and other bigots are seeing these targeted harassment campaigns succeed against trans women and rejoicing. They see Tumblr ban them and officially stand by those decisions as endorsement for their harassment. It's a sign to bigots across the internet that Tumblr is a good place for them.
And what's more is that a lot of us probably don't realize just how much trans women contribute to Tumblr. The women banned recently were sources of site-wide memes and posts I wasn't even aware originated from them.any years old memes and references can be traced back to trans women on this site.
How many of these folks have to be removed before this is no longer a site you want to be a part of it? Sure you cultivate your own experience, but you can't follow or interact with people who aren't here. And if I wanted to interact with the nazis and terfs I'd go to reddit.
I encourage everyone to reblog this. Trans women shouldn't have to be the only ones speaking out against the bigotry they're experiencing. They shouldn't be the only ones risking their blogs being nuked by staff. We have to stand with them.
#i didnt want to make this a post about how their being oppressed impacts you too#but honestly trans women contribute way more to this site's culture than pretty much any other single group of people#taking them out#and especially the more well known ones#absolutely destroys community#i think not just the trans community here though it definitely does that#but its also tearing away at the overall site community#if tumblr doesnt get shit under control this will hurt them more in the long run than anything else#protect trans women#thats what youve gotta do staff

transandrophobia isnt real the way transmisogyny is real because thats not how intersectionality works. transmisogyny is specifically the intersection of oppression transfemmes face of transphobia and misogyny. for transandrophobia to be real, androphobia itself would have to be real. men are not an oppressed class. there is no systemic disenfranchisement men face for being men when living in a patriarchal society. transmascs absolutely face transphobia, and there are certain aspects of transphobia that may be different between transmascs and transfemmes, but that is not transandrophobia.
This is a fantastic explanation for why the term faces skepticism and I appreciate it because it's finally made the argument against it click for me
The remaining issue is, I don't have a different word to use when I specifically reference "transphobia that is distinctly directed towards trans men in ways that combine transphobia bioessentialism and mysoginy, that is similar to but also slightly different from that which is directed towards trans women" that still acknowleges that trans men are not women
IE, "You're not a man, you just hate facing oppression as a woman", "You're not trans, you just have internalized mysoginy", "You don't have to be a man to accomplish your goals, You're just pretending to be one so you don't have to face female gender discrimination", "Transitioning to male means you're eager to oppress women", "Now that you're a man you don't have to deal with mysoginy or gender-based violence", etc
I think the men's rights movement is bullshit, don't get me wrong, but walking around being an openly trans man, emphasis on trans man and not just man, seems to read to a lot of people as "female gender-traitor pervert", and I don't have the VOCABULARY for that experience
#I am begging you not to turn this into oppression Olympics btw OBVIOUSLY trans women have insane hurdles to face#Transmasc

when you're part of a group with structural power over another goup, you really do gotta just learn to say "i am not exempt from 'fuck 'em' when relevant" whenever someone expresses frustration with you or people like you.
#juney.txt#like sure to protect your ego you could try to make up some axis of oppression that concievably means you're not accountable for anything#and how dare people from colonized nations tell you that you have it easier than them just because you live in the imperial core#or how dare trans women say you have it easier than them because no matter what it'll always be your word against a tranny's#or you could just learn to be a little uncomfortable for a moment#and look at the situation for a second and say#''you know what? they're right to be frustrated!''#''and it's really not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things if they're frustrated at me''#''especially if i'm being a prime example of the things they're getting frustrated about''#''i am not exempt from 'fuck 'em' when relevant''

Now that Ghibli's new movie is coming out soon, I've been thinking about anime films and wanna talk about my favorite animated movie ever, Tokyo Godfathers.
TG is a 2003 tragicomedy by Satoshi Kon, following three unhoused peopleââan alcoholic, a runaway girl, an a trans womanââwho find a baby in a dumpster and set off across Tokyo to reunite her with her parents.
If you like the sound of that, go watch it because the rest of this post is spoilers and I have FEELINGS about this movie.
URGHH, the fact that only two moments of true kindness, generosity, and care given to the three protagonists without any expectation of reciprocity are given by a Latin-American immigrant couple and a drag club full of queens and trans women. The fact that, despite her loud and dramatic personality, Hana is the glue that holds the team together and the heart of the whole movie. The fact that this movie pulls no punches at showing the violence and inhumanity committed by "civilized Japanese society" against the unhoused. The fact that Miyuki craves to be loved by her parents and ends up seeing Hana as her true mother. The fact that Miyuki starts off accidentally using transphobic language against Hana, but slowly begins calling her "Miss Hana" out of respect. The fact that, according to Kon, Hana's role in the story is as a mythological trickster god and "disturb the morality and order of society, but also play a role in revitalizing culture." The fact that Hana so desperately wants to be part of a true family, yet is willing to sacrifice her found family so they can be with their own, and is rewarded for her good deeds in the end by becoming a godmother. The fact that, throughout the movie, wind and light have been used to signify the presence of god's hand/influence (this movie's about nondenominational faithââfaith in yourself, faith in others, faith in a higher power. Lots of religious are referenced, such as Buddhism/Hinduism, Christianity, and Shintoism), and in the climax of the film, as Hana jumps off a building to save a baby that isn't hers, a gust of wind and a shower of light save her from death. The fact that god saves a trans woman's life because she proved herself a mother, and that shit makes me CRY.
#ramblings#long post#not art#personal#it's the ultimate found family movie#not without its problems. i really dont like its depiction of mental health#for a movie that does an otherwise great job spotlighting the unhoused crisis in japan and its society's oppressive distain towards women#and queer people. it really drops the ball on depicting one of the biggest contributors to the crisis#but otherwise this movie is so fucking full of love and kindness and second chances and how fucking good queer folks and poc are#it blows my mind that this film came out in 2003 and the main protagonist is a trans woman who's just the fucking best#the recent gkids dub is REALLY good by the way! they got shakina nayfack; a trans va; to voice Hana!#the dub made great strides to undo a lot of the original misgendering and mistranslations#also its a christmas movie#also the ost was done by the band that did earthbound's ost

âreclaiming femininityâ SHUT UP SHUT UP you canât reclaim something that is expected of you and that you are actively punished for not engaging in shut up shut up shut up pink capitalism has won im going to chew glass a
#first of all femininity and masculinity are not even real#2nd if you are female you are socialised into femininity. you therefore canât âreclaimâ it because you are not oppressed for it#youâre rewarded for it. girls and women are punished for being âmasculineâ#being âmockedâ for being girly is NOT the same as the punishment for non-conformity (being âmasculineâ)

The Tignon laws of the 18th century were laws that banned black women from exposing their natural hair in public.
Their hairdos was obscuring the status of the white women and this threatened the social stability. The law would control colored women âwho dressed too elegantly..â
Resembling todayâs West African Gele, a tignon is a type of head-covering. It is a large piece of material wrapped or tied around the head to form a kind of turban concealing the hair.
Tignons were worn by free and slave Creole women of African descent in Louisiana from 1786. Historically, their prevalence was as a result of sumptuary laws passed in 1786 under Governor Esteban Rodriguez MirĂł.
These prescribed and enforced appropriate public dress styles for women of color in a white-dominated society. Hence, they were made as a way of regulating the appearance of black women in the U.S.
During the period, when black enslavement in America was at its peak, and places like New Orleans was unique in its high population of gens de couleur libres (free people of color), black womenâs beauty and features often attracted white men who approached them as suitors.
This enraged white women who perceived them as competitors. Evidently, African women competed openly with white women through elegant dressing, including adorning their textured hair with gems, beads, and other accents that made them stand out from white women and possessing great beauty.
To take care of this perceived menace, series of sumptuary laws birthing the Tignon Law were put in place in order to stop white men from pursuing and engaging in affairs with women of colour, âwhile also being a class signifier,â

"Transandrophobia isn't real because that implies trans women oppress trans men" it doesn't, but do you think this way because you think transmisogyny means trans men oppress trans women?
"Transandrophobia is reactionary to transmisogyny and is just a way to make trans men feel special and more important" it isn't, but do you think that way because you think Transmisogyny is more "special and important" than other forms of oppression?
"Androphobia and misandry aren't real, so transandrophobia can't be" because you're basing your viewpoint on transmisogyny, and misogyny is the ultimate victimhood for you, right? Because we can't have a conversation separate from transmisogyny, because transmisogyny is the worst form of victimization, and everything stems from misogyny, especially transmisogyny. If you're not talking about misogyny, you might as well shut up.
And we can't have issues that aren't shared with cis people, because otherwise we aren't "really" men and women. Because white cishet people are the ones we should be looking to when we "prove" our identity through our suffering, right?
To be a woman, you have to suffer. To be a man, you can never suffer. You can never just be. You have guilt and shame and violence and self sacrifice to be doing if you dare to transition into power.
Because if you, a trans man, don't have male privilege, that must mean that trans women do, because we all live in opposite to eachother, even though the framework of male privilege is something made by and for cis people. If trans women are suffering, that must mean that you aren't.
You can't talk about your own life or struggles or else you're indirectly talking about trans women, and cis men, and cis women, and everyone else except you.
(And fuck non-binary and intersex people and whatever they have going on with their identities that shits just not important to our oppositional viewpoint, right? We can make them fit in this box based off of their genitals, anyway. Dont bring racism into this either, you're just being misogynistic if you do.)
#transandrophobia#social justice#feeling like shit this morning over this stuff again but whatever#having to base the conversation of my oppression around other people to make them feel more comfortable is a blight on leftist movements#and thr trans community as a whole. its fucking terrible and im not going to tear myself to pieces to validate other trans men and women#who can only recieve gender validation by mirroring cis oppositional sexism and believing in white feminism

Stay the fuck away from trans women
everything in this post is TMRA garbage, not worth even arguing with.
People like this have no business speaking to or about us, let alone insisting that we should be in community with them. This is just tortured rationalization to treat us like garbage and reify patriarchal hierarchy by placing men in authority and power over women.
Trans women, you do not have to let toxic dipshits like this into your lives nor do you have to listen to them. They do not know what they're talking about, they only want to define our place as subordinate to them even as they move through the world as actual men. Be free of this garbage, be yourselves, don't let this shit drag you down.
people like this love to accuse us of terf rhetoric, but that entire post is literally terf rhetoric
also could someone who is not one of these unhinged woman-hating MRAs explain how people got to "white trans women are more male than other trans women" like they realize they're just trying to litigate excuses to say that shit and this isn't real analysis or theory right? Especially given how often trans women of color are ~suddenly white~ when people are mad at them?
#transmisogyny#you do not get to police OUR connection to motherhood you misogynist piece of shit#if your approach to trans women is to whine about how we're not demure enough for your fucking tastes#and ignore the significant material oppression we face in employment housing and violent discrimination#then your issue isn't really with what you falsely claim our socialization is your issue is you#leave us the fuck alone

there is, famously, a huge amount of social pressure on gnc cis people to transition. society just wants more trans people, trans women especially. this is a real and serious problem. there are just too many trans women making egg jokes. we have to protect the poor cis people from being compared to us (which is clearly and self evidently a horrible thing to do clearly)
#juney.txt#I'm gonna drink lighter fluid#are the people calling every single gnc cis person they see an egg in the room with us right now?#this is not a real thing that happens but if it was it wouldn't be a thing worth taking seriously#you people just found a sociably acceptable way to act like trans women are oppressing cis people#so you can Heroically Tell Them Off or whatever#over fucking *nothing*#I hope every single cis man wakes up tomorrow in a basement with an estrogen needle stuck in their vein#especially if they're gnc#oh god I just realised why they constantly bring that up in this stupid hypothetical#it's to give the hypothetical cis person an aura of queerness.#so that disrespecting their gendernonconformity#by suggesting they might actually not be a guy who is fem (queering it) but rather a gal who is fem#becomes some kind of queerphobic erasure#it's trying to reframe things to make it look like trans people even talking about the idea of eggs is Punching Down against other queer ppl#God fucking damn it

Every time women are behind in society it gets explained away with âitâs their choice to do thatâ but when men start to âfall behindâ (aka they start to feel the consequences of not having everything handed to them on a platter just for being a man), all of a sudden itâs a terrible societal issue and we need to do something asap!
The gender pay gap? Oh, women are just choosing lower paid jobs so who cares? Prostitution is dangerous and degrading? Who cares? Those women chose to go into that field of âworkâ.
Letâs flip it back around on them. One of the current MRA talking points is that boys are falling behind in schools for a multitude of reasons:
1. 80% of teachers are female and somehow this leads to boys doing worse in school because they donât see women as authority figures. In that case, why should we care? Men are choosing not to go into teaching and those boys are choosing not to listen to the female teachers.
2. Boys are getting worse grades. Why should we care? They choose to spend their time in class pissing around, disrupting everyone and even sexually harassing their female classmates and TEACHERS. Actions have consequences.
3. Girls find it easier to sit still and pay attention so they do better. Again, need I remind everyone that it all comes down to choice? Girls choose to sit still and pay attention, and boys are capable of this choice too! Until they choose to pay attention, why should we care?
It can go both ways!
#radblr#womenâs liberations#I still donât understand why it matters that boys do worse in schools considering they earn more out of school anyway#MRAs think theyâre being oppressed when they donât dominate literally 100% of everything
