(No disrespect intended towards OP whatsoever ‼️)
If you read any of my posts about Loki, let it be this one. I feel this is the best and most coherent I’ve been able to explain why I dislike the series so much.
Found this from a post analyzing Loki’s costuming throughout the MCU and it’s just… really depressing to me. Got me thinking.
(OP is speaking in favor of the series btw)
Tumblr media
He had all freedoms taken away from him. Even the most basic such as dressing himself. He couldn’t even express himself stylistically/through his clothing.
‘He is forced to wear the same clothing as his captor.’
They’re aware.
Tumblr media
Love and connection can change others, but this is him changing himself in order to receive that “love” and “connection.” (You guys already know how I feel about his “relationships” in the series, but let’s just go with it for now.)
Loki has never been loved or accepted for who he is, and instead of the series uplifting/proudly presenting those traits of his that haven’t been loved by others, they have him abandon those traits instead. You can only be loved or accepted if you change every aspect of who you are. You can only be included if you strip yourself of who you are. That’s the message the series/his characterization in the series sends. It doesn’t send a message of acceptance, and friendship. He couldn’t even be accepted “despite” who he is. How is him changing who he is to feel a sense of belonging acceptance?
(And I don’t even mean traits such as his coldness or harshness. No, I mean everything from his own way of speaking, his intelligence, his ability to stick up for himself, his ambition, his mischievousness, just… all of it. He lost even the non “difficult” traits.)
He wasn’t worthy of being loved as is. He had to conform in every way. From the way he expresses himself, all the way to his mannerisms. Consciously, and subconsciously. He rejected pieces of himself, to become like those around him.
I understand why the writers did this as they are ignorant and the series was never meant to be about Loki or about uplifting him, but to have “fans” accept this… Loki, I’m sorry they couldn’t love you for who you were. I know he’s not real, but it makes me emotional that the characters around him didn’t accept him for who he was, nor do his “fans.”
Ignorant “fan” talk aside, the writers in the first place didn’t understand that one of the reasons we love Loki is because he wasn’t loved for who he is. No one who truly loved him, wanted him to change and conform to other’s ideals. I understand that Loki needed to be dumbed down and stripped of everything that made him himself in order for the series to work, but no one wanted this.
To make the god of mischief, someone who’s chaotic in nature, conform to order… ooh, it is so irritating.
Tumblr media
And this is one of the reasons I dislike the motives behind the costuming in the series. It’s not because I hate Tom Hiddleston and don’t respect his choices, or because the costuming is ugly (it is, but that’s not what I’m here to talk about), it’s because I hate what these choices represent. I hate the fact that people feel that they need to change every aspect of who they are in order to be loved, when there is always someone who will love you for who you are. I hate that it’s encouraged, and seen as acceptance when it’s nothing of the sort.
‘The new costuming shows humility’, as if Loki was ever allowed to be anything but humbled in the first place. As if he were allowed to be above anyone in the first place. As if he was able to be celebrated in the first place. Those “bad” traits, were never accepted. They don’t realize that just because Loki was the villain of the Avengers, it doesn’t mean he walked out successfully.
He was humbled just like in every movie he’s been in. Whether that’s him being rejected by Odin, disrespected by The Warrior’s Three + Sif, humbled by Thor ‘Know your place, brother’, tortured by Thanos, defeated by The Avengers, left to rot in a cell in the dungeons of the Palace he grew up in and was raised as Royalty in, denied the ability to say goodbye to his own mother after her death, threatened by people who were once his friends… You know I can go on forever.
I don’t think there’s been a moment where Loki was allowed to feel better than anyone else without immediately being shut down, denied, humbled, dehumanized, or humiliated.
So for that all to happen to him about a thousand times more in a series that was meant to uplift him… it just sucks. ‘Healthy self-worth and self- love’ he was stripped of who he was and constantly belittled, and did not stick up for himself. He just accepted everything that was said about him, and he accepted the disrespect. I don’t see how that is him having healthy self worth. He was treated horribly by those around them and instead of attempting to stick up for himself like in the previous projects he’s been in, he just accepted it. As if he felt he deserved it. He has less self worth/self love than he’s ever had.
He never got uplifted or praised or accepted or anything besides gaining new physical abilities and a new title. He’s been given a position he’s never wanted, because Loki’s always sacrificing himself. He’s always sacrificing himself the better of other characters, and other MCU plot lines. It’s what the MCU does when they get bored, or need to start a new plot.
I don’t want to see Loki be humbled. He already has been in everything he’s been in. He’s already been humiliated and made the laughingstock. I want to see him uplifted. I want to see him proud of who he is. I want to see him accepted.
I want him to realize he can be happy, even if he doesn’t belong or fit in. He can be loved for who he is.
The series did nothing of the sort, and I don’t know how people can be so unaware of that. Or if they are aware of it, I don’t know how they can accept it.
It’s not even the bare minimum “I accept you despite your flaws” no, it’s “I sort of accept you now that you’ve sacrificed yourself for me and changed every aspect of who you are, but I still do not like you as a person and I still won’t give you even the most basic respect.”
I want better for him. Not more humbling that he accepts without any complaints.
Loki I’ll always love you for who you are

im back with another gravity falls headcanon
so, im sure weve all noticed how dipper, mabel, and practically every kid in gravity falls has four fingers instead of five, right? but the adults all have five (excluding ford, he is an outlier and should not be counted /ref) and we all just brushed it off and assumed that it was just a simple stylistic choice, that its a normal thing to see, you know, all that jazz. its common in cartoons for animators to give young people one less finger. their hands are smaller, so it makes it easier to animate.
but what if thats not the whole story here? i mean, this is gravity falls, where even the tiniest details, such as the windows on a mansion in the distance that you had to KNOW IT WAS THERE or be LOOKING FOR IT to notice it.
my theory is, after ford and fidds activated the portal for the first time, something weird happened to gravity falls. kids started being born with four fingers instead five. this being gravity falls, where the people are stupid/crazy/irrational/all of the above, people just started telling their kids, and each other, that this was normal! there is nothing strange about this!
and then one day, on some kids eighteen birthday, he wakes up and has FIVE fingers instead of FOUR. to keep him from panicking, his parents say this is normal too. they tell him that "youre supposed to get your missing fingers when you become an adult! i mean, look at us! we have five fingers, right? well, now you do to!"
and thats what they all start telling their kids.
now, here come dipper and mabel. "but op! they werent born in gravity falls! why do they have four fingers?" ill tell you why: birth defects. not only does dipper have that birthmark, but he also has only four fingers on each hand. thats why they were constantly ridiculed when they were younger, always singled out as the "weird twins". because they were different.
and then one day, stan gets a call from their parents saying that theyre gonna spend the summer with him. they say "oh, and, stan? theyve got that birth defect, remember? please dont make fun of them for it. and defend them when kids start bullying them. theyre self conscious about it." and he just kinda laughs to himself, cause all the kids in gravity falls have this same situation, so they arent gonna be made fun of! and he would never do that to his own family. he messed up once, hes not gonna do it again.
anyways, do with this what you will. just wanted to get it out there for yall to comtemplate like i have been for the past several days

RECOGNISING AI GENERATED IMAGES
(Disclaimer: This is not a foolproof guide as these softwares are constantly changing, but it is intended to help you learn things to possibly look out for.)
We've all heard "count the fingers, count the teeth" for AI generated images of people, but more and more frequently I see people sharing images of objects and scenery that are AI generated without realising it. These people are often vocally anti-AI but still get caught out. This post is not intended to shame or make anyone feel bad for not recognising AI imagery. Usually, AI images posted on platforms like tumblr are not tagged as AI; the OP is often fully intending to trick you just to gain some quick numbers, so it's not your fault that their tactics work. They're designed to be pretty at a glance and betting on you not looking any closer.
So, that out of the way: How can I spot and avoid AI Generated images?
Here's some things I've learned to pick up on, and now I can spot them pretty much on sight.
Full guide under the cut. Contains AI images as examples.
1. Source
Tumblr media
Your first easy step is to check if there's a source. Remember when everything on tumblr was just credited to weheartit?? This is the new worse version of that. If the image has no source in the description describing an artist, photographer, brand, location etc... check the original post.
If there's nothing in the tags to indicate that it is art or a piece of photography or an advertisement, it could be AI. Sometimes the caption is just something generic or aesthetic like ~witchy cottage life~ etc. The tags above for the image below of the room with the tree are largely nonsense.
Important note: A watermark does not always indicate a photographer or artist: if you think it might be AI but it has a watermark, that will most likely lead you to the socials for the person who created the image using AI.
2. Visual Soup
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zoom. In. It sucks to feel like you have to get into the habit of pausing and closely checking the details of images on platforms designed for infinite scroll and quick engagement, but if you get into the habit of this, soon you'll be learning to spot AI at a quick scroll glance.
Generally, when you zoom in on a photograph, the details and divisions of where one object ends and another begins still stays the same, just out of focus. Zooming in on an AI image, the details become... soup. Why is that plant morphing into the countertops? Why is the tap floating? Why are there five thousand burner dials???
Tumblr media
The same applies to art. Zooming in on art reveals things like brush strokes, pencil lines, pixels, imperfections and intentional small details. If zooming in reveals soupy details that don't look like intentional stylistic choices it could be AI.
3. Interior Design Disasters
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One thing AI doesn't seem to be good at is separating the depth and layers of rooms full of furniture, and making things sit properly in their 3D space. Window frames are wonky. Chairs and tables are fused to each other, or to walls. Bookcases get narrower at one end when they really shouldn't. A little wonkiness is fine and expected in artwork, but when the whole thing isn't sitting right, it could be AI.
(Compare the white image on the right to these real photographs of a similar house, and notice how messy and nonsensical the AI image seems).
(Edit 03/06/2023: See also this abstract furniture that still has a proper sense of depth and doesn't merge into the background)
4. Toothpaste
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't know what else to call this but midjourney effing loves it. I most commonly see this on things like AI generated objects, outfits and garments rather than scenery. It looks like the software has applied all the details with a piping bag. Weird, greebly swirls like it's hoping you won't notice if it adds enough visual noise. Notice it. It's AI. And it looks super fucking weird.
Midjourney also loves adding weird concentric circles to everything, which can be seen in the image example for Lighting below.
5. Giblets
Tumblr media
What is that bowl of stuff?? What is on that shelf?? What's that pile of...things?? They're giblets. This is another prominent midjourney feature and another example of visual noise. Stuff it with details, and maybe the viewer won't notice that what they're actually looking at is a lumpy pile of nonsense that definitely shouldn't exist. Spot the giblets!
6. Lighting
Tumblr media
This one is hardest to describe and to spot, but I often find that the lighting in AI images of scenery and objects has a flat, dream-like quality. Once you study it, it begins to feel distinctly unreal.
7. Names
Lastly, some people do state that an image is AI in their descriptions or tags, but might not do so in those exact words. If you aren't already familiar, here's the names of the most prominant AI generators as of May 2023:
Midjourney
Dall-E or Dall-E 2
Stable Diffusion
Deep Dream
Artbreeder
WOMBO
NightCafe
Lensa
Stablecog
BigSleep
Brands such as Bing, Google, Shutterstock and Canva are also bringing out generators
8. Multiple Angles (added 03/06/2023)
I forgot to add this earlier, but it's another very simple tell! If the images are objects, garments or rooms... are there multiple images in the post of the same object or location from different angles? No? Then it could be AI. The shoes used as Toothpaste examples above were part of a set of lots of different shoes, but of each design there was only one image. AI is Not Good at creating the same thing twice consistently.
(See these photographs of hair pins. The post contains a source link to the photographer's flikr account, where there are multiple images of each pin in different angles and lighting, confirming that they're real.)
If I think of anything else or some new tell starts to appear, I will come back and update this post, but for now, thank you for reading. My hope for this is that people will either share AI generated images less, or if they do, at least learn to spot and tag them so that those who don't want to see them (aka me!) can filter and avoid.

Something that came up recently in discord with @/shuuenmei and @/klonoadreams and friends
Tumblr media
And it has occurred to a lot of us older writers, especially now with the prominent use of the AO3 tagging system, is that younger writers seem to have trouble grasping the difference between the kinds of 'insert' fanfics.
So, as someone who has written all the variations there off, I've decided to try and write a reference sheet for what the differences between an OC-insert, a Self-insert, and a Reader-insert.
The OC-Insert
"I have created a character and will put them in a situation."
Everyone has an OC or a dozen, whether or not you've done anything with them. It's a right of passage of sorts for young artists and writers to create their cringe angsty OP character for their favorite show/game. We've ALL done it, it's how we learn how to make better characters for later projects, or practice new ideas.
In writing, the OC-insert fanfic will often have hallmarks of:
Wish fulfillment often in the form of a fix-it of some form, expansion of Canon, or the proposition of a Canon divergence idea (especially in the case of the OC being related to a Canon Character)
The OC having very little to no (known) traits shared with the author, and is often heavily described or even given a character reference sheet
The OC often is already a part of the world they're made for with taylor made powers or skills, or, in the case of a particular kind of wish fulfillment often seen in younger writers, an OP OC meant to allow the author to do what they want
However, the OC is often still limited in knowledge of events as with the rest of the characters, even if they might find out faster than in canon
Often written in the Third Person (he/she/it/they), occasionally in First Person, and almost never in Second Person
The OC-insert is the creation of a character to allow the author to present their idea. OCs are often ways to practice writing traits or scenes a writer isn't used to writing with a character they know 100% about in a world they mostly know.
Think D&D, you make a character and make them react to situations they are presented with. This is the OC-insert.
The Self-insert
"I am putting myself in a situation."
The Self-insert happens nearly as frequently as the OC-insert, if not more. It is the Author placing themself, or in the case of the SIOC, a very close apprximation of themself, into the show/game of their liking.
The hallmarks of a Self-insert fic include:
Also often wish fulfillment, but in the form of escapism and occasionally power fantasies. Often fix-its when in regards to canon story.
The Author proxy usually enters the world from our own via any sort of means. Reincarnation after death, magic, making deals with deities/demons, anything.
The proxy usually has most of the knowledge of the world they are entering, or on the rare occasion, very little to none. There is often no in between.
The proxy may or may not gain skills or power native to the world. In the case of SIOC, the proxy may already have some minor helpful skills. The proxy can become OP, but doesn't often start like that.
Self-inserts are often more realistic looks into the world they are inserted into, expanding on many issues and hidden scenes that might have occurred in canon
Most often written in First Person (I, Me, My), occasionally in other povs. I personally write Kal in Second Person as a stylistic choice.
The Self-insert is for the Author, to show how they personally would have reacted, or helped, or gone about something. It is a catharsis for some authors in some ways, a way to deal with emotions or situations that they can't IRL.
Think games with player inserts, particularly RPGs with branching paths, or old Pick your Adventure type stories where you pick an answer at the end of the part and then go to the corresponding page of that answer. These are how you, the author, are reacting and choosing.
Most fanfics that follow the story for games/shows like Twst are one of the above two; LiT, for instance, is an SIOC.
The Reader-Insert
"I am putting you, the reader, in a situation."
Reader-inserts are all over, but they most frequent in places where there is a high level of Fandom interaction, like here on Tumblr. Reader-inserts are generally very short, and often only about how canon characters react to presented situation. These are your "x reader" blogs and tags.
Reader-inserts often have hallmarks of:
Almost always prompt based wish fulfillment of the highest order. 98% of all reader-inserts are simply for readers to love on a character of their choosing without consequence
Most have no basis in canon, or only have canon as a setting and are very minorly reactionary to Canon events
There are very, very few reader insert fics that are well written to follow along with a Canon story, and even then, the "reader" character will gain definite traits and can break immersion and even eventually be considered an OC
The "reader" will almost never be described unless it's part of the prompt to help with immersion, and may occasionally be referred to by a nickname of some kind, but otherwise will have a blank space ("____") or (Y/N) to show where your own name may be placed, or any other traits in some case.
It is also often headcanon central, with a lot of authors' ideas as to how a Canon Character will react to a given prompt.
Almost always written in Second Person (You), very, very rarely anything else.
Reader-inserts are often.... poor quality, as stated, because they are wish fulfillment and do not often undergo any rigorous editing like a story based fic. But they can be used to practice how an author can write their idea of a particular character or a specific (often romantic) scenario.
Think otome games and imagine blogs here on tumblr. Most of the time, it's less you, the player reacting and them the characters reacting to your choices.
None of the above things are bad to write. Hell, I was a mod for an imagine blog for years, and it did indeed help with how I write. They all have ways to help a writer grow, but they are all very different forms of fics. You can't look at a self-insert and call it a reader-insert because it's not you, the reader being inserted, it's the Author. It's not an OCxCharacter story if it's the reader who's supposed to fill in the details.
So PLEASE, for the love of god, tag your fics correctly.

for the prompt list, gimme “can i hold your hand?” pls 🤲🏻 joe or eddie, your choice bb
this is really short i’m sorry :( but i hope you still like it!!
i also kind of used the couple from The Start as inspo for this because i miss them
Can I Hold Your Hand?
The Stranger Things season 4 premiere. It was a big night for Joe, finally being able to share his character with the world. But, he was nervous. He’d never had such a big premiere before. He asked you to come along with him for support since you’d done a bunch of these before and of course you couldn’t say no. He even appointed you to help him with his outfit.
“All done handsome. What do you think?” You turn him to the full length mirror in your studio, smoothing out the creases in his shoulders.
He’s twisting and turning, looking at himself up and down in the mirror. “Love it. Looks great as always baby. Thank you.” He turns to you, pecking your lips softly.
“All right let’s get going then. Got a big night ahead of you.” You smile, grabbing your handbag and following him out to the car.
You opted for a plain white dress, not wanting to clash colors with him. The two of you hop in the back of the SUV with his manager and publicist in tow. As you pull into the venue, you notice Joes leg starts shaking. He only really did that when he was anxious.
“You alright babe?” You ask, placing a comforting hand on his knee.
“What? Yeah, sorry. There’s just a lot of people here.” He chuckles, looking at the crowd of fans lined up.
“Well you did pick the biggest show in the world to star in.” You laugh, kissing his cheek. He smiles at you, before looking back out the window.
The car parks, and the driver gets out to open the door. His manager and publicist exit first, making their way to the other group of management teams while you and Joe stay behind for a second.
“You ready?” You squeeze his arm.
“I guess so.” You can feel his breathing getting heavier, and a small bead of sweat gracing his forehead.
“Hey,” You grab his cheek making him look at you. “It’s gonna be okay. You’re gonna do great. And i’ll be with you the whole time if you need me to.” You kiss him one more time before he hops out of the vehicle, you right behind him.
He stops for a moment, taking in all the people that were here. Since no one really knew who he was, they weren’t paying much attention to him which he was almost grateful for.
One of the people in charge of the people coming on to the carpet approaches him, guiding him through the crowd. He looks down at you, trying not to pay attention to everyone around him.
“Can i hold your hand?” He whispers, right before you reach the carpet. You look up, smiling and locking your fingers into his.
“You never have to ask.” You feel his body start to relax under your touch.
Once you reach the carpet it’s madness. All the photographers shouting to look at them, or to do certain poses for them, the bright lights flashing excessively in both of your eyes. You let go of his hand, moving it around his waist as he does the same to you. Finally feeling more at ease with you by his side.
You finish your photo ops and he gives your hand a squeeze before moving on to some interviews. You stand off to the side, watching in awe as the media throws question after question at him. You couldn’t even explain how proud of him you were. Smiling like an idiot in the corner.
“And who’s this pretty lady you brought with you tonight?” You overhear one of the reporters ask.
He grins widely, looking over at you. “This is my beautiful girlfriend Y/N.” He motions for you to come join him, and you hesitantly walk over. “I needed some support with me today, and it doesn’t hurt that she’s my stylist as well.” You make eye contact with him, smiling so big it almost hurt.
“Oh well you two look fantastic. Have fun in there okay?” She finishes, as you both say your thank yous and walk off.
“Thank you for coming tonight. I don’t think i could’ve done it without you.”
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world.” You smile, placing your arms around his neck and giving him the deepest kiss you could.

OP can I ask how you got into graphic design. Ik you do art stuff but I wnted to get into it but im a noob. If you wanna, could you tell me like apps/websites involved or youtubers/tutorials you used? Maybe this is au nature which is sick.
Love your stuff dude, distracts me from my lectures lol 🤥
yes ofcourse you can ask almost anything yall r curious abt!!
for me my journey is kinda complex, I learned the basics of adobe programs in high school and I studied AV in college BUT I was never properly taught graphic design or photoshop in that setting and am mostly self taught with the stuff I do mostly now.
for good references instagram has actually been one of the best ways to learn specific tips and tricks
_jempg and hosqostudio are great for more stylistic tricks
redavisuals is great for more basic photoshop stuff
here's an insta video with a bunch of youtubers that do tutorials
I can also give you the biggest trick I did learn in college, google and youtube are your best friends. you wanna make something? put it in youtube and write tutorial behind it and just follow it.
also the biggest thing is to just mess around with yoour program of choice just click things and see what happens!
I'd love to help explain stuff more specific but it all comes down to just looking up tutorials about the things you wanna learn it is the best way to learn graphic and video design

Goncharov 2073 is a fairly short stylistic linear piece with one small choice, set in a not-so-far and not-so-implausible future, in which Goncharov is a movie written by an AI, rather than the illusive and very human Matteo JWHJ0715. At the movie premiere, you and a group of activists will try to derail the event as a protest. Will you truly succeed?
Spoilers ahead. It is recommended to play the game first. The review is based on my understanding/reading of the story.
Following Kon - not their real name - you oversea the smooth running of a project started months prior. Due to the significance of the event, the first ever screening of an AI generated movie, it is of the upmost importance things go the way they should. One small mistake and it will mean the end of the team. Things often go haywire on sabotage missions, and it is never when you think it might...
While the entry might seem to follow tropes of sabotage missions, delivering the tension at every turn, having the blasé handler, or things not going quite as planned, it is not much of the story or the meme that is most noteworthy, but the messages behind it. It should not be this surprising, with the author's other games often having quite a bit to say or critique about the state of things.
In the past years, there have been increasing talk about Artificial Intelligence and its use in different industry. Recently (as of this review), it has been found that Entertainment Companies have been looking into rendering the likeness of background actors and using AIs to render them in the final project (without needing them on set). The use of AI software to render text or visuals is becoming more common, even going as a replacement for employees. It feels a bit hard to remove this topical aspect from the story of this game: an AI has written this movie, an AI is controlling the likeness of a (probably) dead Martin Scorcese...
The onus is not really put on the AI here - it is just a tool (and not a reliable or great one at that, if the comments about the movie are to be trusted*). The game takes a hit at the companies behind it, the ones using the tool, the ones actually profiting in this endeavour. *or that could just be making fun of the meme, whose lore is often contradictory.
In-game, the rules around AI use regarding using the likeness of someone cannot be done without their consent, a fair system... if it wasn't an op-out one. The rules don't seem to apply to people who died before the system was put in place - ruling impending - which explains the presence of a holographic Martin Scorcese at the premiere. Still, you have a sense that regardless of the legality of the tool, those company would try to find a way to use it anyway...
The criticism goes even clearer with the reveal of the activists' manifesto: the technological advancement is not the problem, capital endeavours are - butchering, making almost a mockery of creativity with their generated "work".
On the other hand, the game does not shy away from critiquing the actions of the activist group, showing that the sabotage of the premiere would not only shed more light on the movie, but ensuring its popularity at the box office - people who might not have cared about would come in flock out of spite. Activism is hard: there is no one way of doing things, actions can backfire, and you could be going against organism so large your actions might not even make waves or get you quite a bit of retaliation. Replaying the game to see the different option of that choice may hammer on this aspect...
With its title reminiscing of the Blade Runner sequel title, or its dark and gritty UI (a bit à-la Metal Gear Solid - very very cool), and the messages above, the game gave me vibes of Paul Verhoeven movies.

Welcome to tumblr!!!
I don't know if anyone else has reached out to you, so forgive me if you have gotten this already. I'm pretty new to tumblr as well, but a lot of people who have been here for decades think this site is a lot more intuitive then it is
Reblogging your own post to add additional commentary is a stylistic choice that a lot of people employ. Both the initial blog (post A) and the reblog (post B(post A)) show up in reverse chronological order. It's normal, you get used to scrolling past posts that get shorter and shorter the further back you go.
Screenshotting a post is generally done when you want to be mean to the OP and don't want them to know about it. Reblogging a post normally gives the OP and all rebloggers a notification.
People can get pissy about people not following tumblr ettiqutte, but also no one can agree what tumblr etiquette is and they all frequently fight about it.
Generally people have friendly silly interactions with Mutuals (people who follow each other). You can still interact with posts from people that you aren't mutuals with ...but it's more likely to be taken the wrong way or out of context because you're a stranger.
I was joking about the fact that two versions of the same one showed up immediately after each other. I wasn't confused as to why two similar versions of the same post existed.

‘All the Hate Towards Corey Feldman is Totally Unjustified’ Op-Ed By Corey Feldman
Tumblr media
In a world where we preach kindness and acceptance, I find myself in an all-too-familiar position: the target of unwarranted ridicule and vitriol. As a public figure who has spent over four decades in the entertainment industry, I’ve endured my fair share of criticism. But the sheer intensity of the hate directed toward me feels deeply unjustified, especially considering the all of the amazing achievements that I’ve accomplished throughout my long career.
Let me start by stating the obvious—I’m not perfect. No one is. But does that imperfection warrant the relentless bullying, mocking, and dismissiveness I encounter daily, especially online? The answer is a resounding no.
As an actor, I’m proud of my contributions to iconic films like The Goonies, Stand by Me, and The Lost Boys. These projects have brought joy to millions, and yet, some people seem determined to diminish my legacy. Why? Because I dared to step outside the conventional mold and express myself artistically, whether through my music, my tweets, or by simply just being unapologetically myself.
Take my music, for example. Yes, my performances are unorthodox. Yes, I’ve made bold stylistic choices. But isn’t that what art is all about? Pushing boundaries, taking risks, and staying true to your vision? Instead of celebrating my courage, many have chosen to reduce my efforts to punchlines. To those critics, I ask: would you prefer a world where artists play it safe and never innovate?
The irony is not lost on me. I’ve dedicated my life to entertaining and uplifting people, yet some of those very people seem hellbent on tearing me down. Why? Is it because I refuse to conform? Is it because I don’t shy away from controversy? Or is it simply easier to mock someone who dares to stand out?
I’m writing this not to garner sympathy, but to encourage reflection. Before you judge someone, especially someone in the public eye, consider the context. Consider the humanity. Behind every headline, every viral clip, and every “cringe” moment is a person with feelings, dreams, and struggles.
To my detractors, I say this: I’m not going anywhere. I will continue to create, to speak out, and to live authentically. And to those who support me, thank you. Your kindness and encouragement remind me why I do what I do.
In the end, the hate directed toward me says more about the world we live in than it does about me. But I have hope that, one day, we’ll learn to lift each other up instead of tearing each other down.
Sincerely,
Corey Feldman

How Long Do Hair Transplants Last? A Look at Results and Maintenance
Tumblr media
What is a Hair Transplant?
A hair transplant is a surgical procedure that moves hair follicles from one part of the scalp (usually the back or sides) to areas experiencing hair loss. This method, known as the donor-to-recipient transplant, is popular for its natural-looking results and effectiveness. The two main techniques used today are Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT). Both methods provide durable outcomes, but their approach and recovery times differ.
How Long Do Hair Transplants Last?
Hair transplants are designed to be a permanent solution for hair loss. When performed correctly by experienced surgeons like Dr. Bhavesh Gupta at Clinique Internationale in Mumbai, the results can last a lifetime. This longevity is largely because the hair follicles used for the transplant are resistant to DHT (dihydrotestosterone), the hormone responsible for hair thinning and baldness.
Once transplanted, these follicles continue to grow in their new location as they would have in their original area, effectively becoming part of the new hairline or filled-in area. Patients can typically expect to see the full effect of their transplant within 6 to 12 months as the hair follicles go through their natural growth cycle.
Factors Influencing the Longevity of Hair Transplant Results
While hair transplants can offer lifelong results, several factors can impact how long they last and how natural they look over time. Here are some key considerations:
1. Technique and Surgeon Skill The skill of the surgeon and the method used for the transplant significantly affect results. Clinics like Clinique Internationale in Mumbai, led by Dr. Bhavesh Gupta, specialize in the latest techniques, including FUE and FUT, which maximize the lifespan of the transplanted hair. FUE is particularly popular for its minimally invasive approach, providing natural results with little scarring, while FUT can be beneficial for patients needing a larger number of grafts.
2. Patient’s Age and Hair Loss Pattern Age and hair loss patterns play a role in long-term results. Younger patients may require additional sessions over time if hair loss continues. It’s essential to have a long-term plan, as hair loss can be progressive, affecting areas that have not been transplanted. Experienced doctors like Dr. Bhavesh Gupta design treatment plans tailored to each individual’s current and potential future hair loss patterns.
3. Post-Operative Care Following post-op care instructions is crucial for the success and longevity of the transplant. Proper care helps transplanted follicles establish well in the recipient area, supporting their growth over time. Patients are usually advised to avoid activities that could damage the grafts, such as strenuous exercise, excessive sun exposure, and harsh chemical treatments, in the initial recovery phase.
4. Lifestyle and Overall Health General health and lifestyle choices can impact the durability of hair transplant results. For example, a healthy diet rich in vitamins and minerals supports hair growth and strength. Smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and chronic stress, on the other hand, can affect hair health and, in some cases, accelerate hair thinning even in transplanted areas.
What to Expect in Terms of Maintenance
While transplanted hair can last a lifetime, maintenance practices can help enhance the overall look and health of the hair. Here are some steps to ensure your hair transplant remains at its best:
1. Regular Trims and Styling Transplanted hair grows just like natural hair, so regular trims are essential to maintain a polished appearance. Consulting with a stylist familiar with post-transplant hair can be beneficial.
2. Scalp Care and Hygiene Keeping the scalp clean and free from excess oil and debris promotes healthy growth. Using a gentle shampoo and avoiding harsh products are important to maintain scalp health and prevent irritation in the transplanted area.
3. Non-Surgical Treatments for Support Some patients opt for treatments like Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, which can stimulate hair growth and improve follicle strength. Clinique Internationale offers PRP therapy, which complements hair transplants by nourishing hair follicles, especially useful for those who want to boost their transplant results and maintain thickness.
4. Follow-Up Appointments Regular check-ups with the transplant surgeon, especially in the first few months post-procedure, are helpful to ensure grafts are healthy and growing as expected. Clinique Internationale encourages patients to schedule periodic follow-ups to monitor hair growth, assess any ongoing hair loss, and discuss possible future treatments.
Conclusion: A Lifetime Investment in Confidence
A hair transplant, when done by a skilled surgeon like Dr. Bhavesh Gupta at Clinique Internationale, is not only an investment in appearance but also in confidence. With the right technique, post-op care, and long-term maintenance, hair transplants can last a lifetime, providing individuals with a solution to hair loss that is both effective and enduring. While the procedure itself offers a permanent remedy to thinning and baldness, adopting a holistic approach that includes scalp care, healthy lifestyle habits, and periodic check-ups will ensure your hair stays thick, full, and vibrant for years to come.
For those considering a hair transplant, Clinique Internationale in Mumbai offers expertise, advanced techniques, and a commitment to helping each patient achieve results they can proudly wear every day. With proper planning, care, and follow-up, a hair transplant can truly be a lifetime investment in both appearance and self-assurance.

Favorites of March
I continue my streak of watching Shakespearean adaptations, apparently. I saw two versions of Macbeth and two adaptations of Julius Caesar, all very fantastic adaptations. Beware the ides of march!
Films
Society of the Snow (2023) I've been a quiet fan of J.A. Bayona's work since I first saw his film "A Monster Calls." Though the aforementioned film isn't like a grandiose, amazing film, there was something about how it came together and the director's vision of the story I loved, so I kept an eye on Bayona's work since. I would say Society of the Snow, or La sociedad de la nieve, is the best of his films I've seen. Bayona's stylistic tendences came to the forefront in this film. It's so well-directed and framed in the context of these survivors in the Andes. It also makes a choice that I loved it more for--it gave the central focus of the film to the people who did not survive ultimately. Often times in such films, it's the survival and the survivors who are sensationalized, but this film is so visceral in its portrayal. Even so, there is hope in how these survivors come together, and Bayona does a fantastic job of balancing that, with themes of faith and how a society comes together at its worst. I think it's sort of a shame that Zone of Interest has also been nominated this year, because if it were not for that film, I would say this film had a very fair chance of winning best International Film this year at the Oscars. I will also add that it's not an easy watch because of its subject matter.
Shirkers (2018) What a little gem of a film. It's a haunting look at the director's history of her first film, one lost in its entirety due to the incompetence and psychological cruelty of a man who very much took advantage of his younger female filmmakers. She finally retrieves that footage thanks to the man's ex-wife, and she crafts the documentary of its making and her past in such a wonderful weave. As someone who writes and have spent so much of my mind in those creative moments, I can't imagine losing so much of your heart, even in those amateur times, to the abyss--not being able to see it or not being able to show it to the world after spending so much time on it. There's an interesting contrast between her youthfulness when she was excited about making her first film to the kind of anger and resigned nature she had to come to terms with as she grew older. It's a fantastic documentary that you can tell was made by someone with a very creative mind. You get to witness her sort of rediscovering that old part of her and also uncovering the history of this man who had mentored her and taken advantage of her. The documentary captures a time period of Singapore that was both real and only hers--and contrasts greatly with their modern counterparts. The film may not be for everyone, but something about it continually captured my interest.
The Holdovers (2023) The movie struck a chord with me about the connections we have with people even when we sometimes hate people, if that makes sense. I don't necessarily hate people, but I've been through moments where I'm as bitter as Paul or Angus. It's sometimes in those moments that we recognize how people can be worth it all when you're finding those fellow Holdovers, those people lost in limbo like you in life. Overall, it's a very touching story between a curmudgeon of a teacher, a grieving mother, and a young student who's been left behind by his parents and the way it changes all of them in a little way even though they all go on their own ways after.
Grave of the Fireflies (1988) I think this is one of those animated films everyone should watch at least once--but it's also a film I wouldn't watch again, at least for awhile. It's a look at young kids amidst war and quite devastating in its portrayal. As far as I know, the film is based off of a short story, written by an author who wrote it based off of his experience as a child in WWII. The film is honest from its opening the brutal ending these kids will have, but the journey still paints a haunting picture to get there. There are some truly heartwarming between the siblings, but you experience living through a war and it's so incredibly sad. The title is apt as well, how some lives are so beautiful and short-lived.
National Live Theatre: Julius Caesar (2018) I've read the play extensively in my studies, but never quite seen a proper adaptation, much less one that feels so relevant to our time. It should be noted this play was performed during Trump's presidency, and it's hard not to draw parallels to Trump from Caesar in this adaptation. Both are figures that popular to a mob, after all. Though this is a modern take on the play, I rather liked it and particularly its portrayals of Brutus and Cassius. Cassius has generally been seen as less unsympathetic in my readings, perhaps of my own interpretation, but this adaptation wholly made him--or her, in this case--a very interesting character and one I felt sympathetic to by the end. Cassius remains a flawed and perhaps scheming character in her attempt to overthrow Caesar, but also one that you find rather interesting to analyze and so entirely human. There's an extra layer to it having Cassius be a woman in this adaptation. I think credit to this lies with Michelle Fairley's portrayal and being able to bounce off Ben Whishaw's acting so well. The senators exchange knives for guns in this modern adaptation, which did make for a slightly amusing visual in my opinion, but it is a modern take and was a very well choreographed scene.
The Quiet Girl (2022) This film probably won't be for everyone, but it's a kind of film I love in the same quiet way I might like to lay outside in the grass with an old book. It's a quiet film that's subtle in the way it portrays a young girl's perspective as a child in a large family, shy and soft-spoken, until she starts to open up in the care of a loving family. The cinematography in this film is so well-done. It's one of those films I admire how it uses both foreground and background in perspective, as well as shots through open doors of a house. I think the film's cinematography perfectly encapsulates the shyness and the sort of pain--as well as the wonder and love she comes to experience--the child has in growing up as she has. It's not a big-budget film, but it uses its surroundings and nature so beautifully. It's a film that wonderfully illustrates the beauty of tiny little gestures in love and how love is about all those little things. I'm kind of happy I chose this film in particular on a random whim from a list of recommended Irish films, all because I wanted to watch an Irish film on St. Patrick's Day.
The End of Evangelion (1997) It's hard to say this is one of my favorite films this month, because it's definitely a dark one and it's extremely convoluted and confusing. Part of me doesn't like it enough to say it's a favorite, and part of me loves it anyways. Strip away thinking about the plot too much and have a basis in the original TV series to just think about the emotions and the visuals--this film speaks deeply to me and others. It's definitely a film I'm still thinking about just from all it shows, with some of the most visceral animations I've ever seen. As someone who has been at her wit's end with depression before, I understood rather well what the film was portraying. It's a magnified version of someone with so much self-loathing and the kind of visual extremes the film paints about how that person is dealing with it. It's about understanding that even though we can be horrible as humans, and that we'll often question whether people love us or hate us, it's still worth it. It's about the "I love yous" that you hear. My friend and I talked about the ending, and though it's a bit grim, it's also realistic and hopeful. There are people who want to live. Sometimes life, even with all it's ugliness, is also just that--and that's beautiful in it's own disgusting way.
Memories of Murder (2003) As a person who has a morbid kind of love for noir-style films and Bong Joon Ho's work, it isn't entirely surprising I liked this film. There are things I'm not a fan of, such as the sheer way its characters and police department are not equipped to handle the case the serial murders are about... and yet, I know this is quite purposeful and is the reason why the movie is particularly haunting. The movie itself is based on a series of murders that were only solved in 2019 (more than a decade after the movie came out). A series of murders, in fact, that might be South Korea's first recognized serial murders--one that they were not ready to solve when it happened. There's a certain amount of way the police are allowed to act that says a lot about their incompetency (assaulting suspects, pointing the finger at the wrong people) and yet it also portrays how extremely human they are when they are in entirely over their heads. This one has more dramatic tendencies than Ho's other films, but understandably so considering its extremely tragic circumstances rooted in reality. I'm not entirely a fan of how dramatic some moments were, but I still understood it. Unlike Fincher's Zodiac, for example, which is colder or more honed in on the murder case details itself--this film is much more focused on the human parts that are weaving along a thread of tragedies and murders. Its ending scene with the main character looking into the camera after a little girl answers his question about presumably the killer being a very ordinary-looking man is one of the most chilling endings I've seen in a film.
Literature
"Yumi and the Nightmare Painter" by Brandon Sanderson Somehow, this novel feels like the written form of a manga and I mean that in a good way. Sanderson often has humor in his novels that you don't find as often in his fellow contemporary fantasy/sci-fi novels (at least that I'm aware of), but this novel in particular allows itself so much levity in a sort of premise you would potentially find as the start of an isekai manga. Nonetheless, because it is in novel form and written the way I like to read my fantasy novels, it's much more in-depth than that. I always admire Sanderson's dialogue between his characters, and this is no exception between Yumi and Painter (Nikaro). That this novel is part of the Cosmere too adds a layer of enjoyment for me with all the references to Roshar.
Music
“Red Wine Supernova,” by Chappell Roan The way I relate to and love this song so wholeheartedly as a queer woman makes me smile. It’s a song of longing, but open and happy in its approach about it. And so damn catchy. Come on over, red wine supernova.
“Touching Yourself,” by The Japanese House Longtime fan and I think it’s one of her catchiest songs. It’s happier than her previous songs, which I don’t mind.
“we can’t be friends (wait for your love)” by Ariana Grande I love this song. It’s a sad song tinged with the hope of wishing the best for someone you couldn’t make it work with and I wholeheartedly relate to that. Her whole album has been on repeat for me, but this song in particular is my favorite.
“In the Kitchen,” Renee Rapp I heard this song while I was discovering her last month but for whatever reason, the song didn’t really strike me at the core until this month. It felt like I discovered the song for the first time by really listening to it and falling in love with it. Unabashed heartbreak and hauntingly so.

Absolutely this. I'm at the point where I just turn away from "writing advice" stuff because it's almost all like this. And all it does is make me feel like I should just stop writing if I've ever done anything similar that they're saying is bad. Because it's not always about the advice, itself, it's that most of the time, the advice is also given in the most condescending, angry, rude tone and, I'm sorry, I'm not going to listen to that anymore.
It's not that I don't want to see things that will help me improve, or that will challenge me. It's that I don't want to read or watch things that make me feel like shit for something I may have done once as a stylistic choice. I know I'm not the best writer in the world, and I know I'm actually pretty rusty because I've gone extended periods without writing things other than jotting down ideas or poems that follow different rules, but I also know I'm not the worst writer, either, and this shit always manages to make me feel like I am for something that is usually not that serious.
It's the fact that, as I said, this is nearly always how it is, and that will eventually wear you down.
And the whole "just use 'said,' there's no reason to use anything else" example given by inkskinned in the op? Hard agree with you on that just being poetics. How fucking dull to use the same word over and over. These are the same people who would tell you to never, ever use the word "very" because it's "lazy." And what is it to only ever use one word regarding dialogue?
It's a word. You're allowed to use words to write your thoughts. The only time stuff like that is a "problem" is, ironically, when you use them over and over again with no variations. And, if you read a whole lot of published works from celebrated authors, you'll find a lot of examples of this stuff in their writing!
Bottom line? Write how YOU write. Yes, you should always strive to improve on anything you do, but if you want to say that your character "snarled," or "hissed," or, yeah, "growled" whatever it is they just said, instead of using "said," because you want to emphasize their emotions, give a better visual on their demeanor, or to describe their tone of voice? Fucking go for it.
please i love you i'm begging you bring back suspension of disbelief bring back trusting the audience like. i cannot handle any more dialogue that sounds like a legal document. "hello, i am here to talk to you about the incident from a few minutes ago, because i feel you might be unwell, and i am invested in your personal wellbeing." "thank you, i am unwell because the incident was hurtful to me due to my childhood, which was bad." I CANT!!!!
do you know how many people are mad that authors use "growled" as a word for "said"? it's just poetics! they do not literally mean "growled," it's just a common replacement for "said with force but in a low tone." it's normal! do you hear me!! help me i love you please let me out of here!!!
