Not to be confused with Spotify.
Shopify Inc., stylized as shopify is a Canadian multinational e-commerce company headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario.
Criticism
In 2017, the #DeleteShopify hashtag campaign called for a boycott of Shopify for allowing Breitbart News to host a shop on its platform. Shopify's CEO, Tobias Lütke, responded to the criticism,[109] saying "refusing to do business with the site would constitute a violation of free speech".
In October 2017, Citron Research founder, short-seller Andrew Left released a report which claimed Shopify was overstating the number of merchants using the e-commerce platform and described it as a "get-rich-quick" scheme in contravention of Federal Trade Commission regulations. The day the report was released, the stock plunged more than 11%. Left wrote another report about Shopify in April 2019, stating he believed Shopify's stock price would come down 50% in the next 12 months. In January 2020, Left announced in his annual letter to investors that Citron Research had exited the short position. The reports did not lead to an investigation into Shopify by the FTC.
In July 2022, Shopify was criticized by left-leaning media watchdog Media Matters for hosting the online store of far-right, anti-LGBT influencer Libs of TikTok. In response to Media Matters, a Shopify spokesperson stated that Libs of TikTok was not in violation of the company's Acceptable Use Policy, which "clearly outlines the activities that are not permitted on [the] platform." In November 2022, this criticism was renewed when an article published by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) article highlighted Ottawa City Council member Ariel Troster's criticism of the company in light of a recent shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub. Sharing the CBC article, Nandini Jammi of Check My Ads criticized Shopify on Twitter. In response to Jammi, CEO Tobias Lütke tweeted, "Shopify has a published acceptable use policy and a principled process to apply it. Pressure groups on all sides try to influence it sometimes and CBC needs to see through that not amplify bad faith narrative."
Lawsuits
In December 2021, a group of publishers including Pearson Education, Inc., Macmillan Learning, Cengage Learning, Inc., Elsevier Inc., and McGraw Hill sued Shopify claiming that it had failed to remove listings and stores selling pirated copies of their books and learning materials. The lawsuit was settled "amicably" out of court; the details were not disclosed.
A class-action lawsuit for $130 million was filed in May 2023 by employees who had been laid off.
In June 2023 Shopify announced a fight against "patent trolls" who "stealthily orchestrate hundreds of patent litigation cases yearly", and filed a lawsuit.
Data breach
In September 2020, Shopify confirmed a data breach in which customer data from fewer than 200 merchants was stolen. One of those merchants later said over 4,900 of their customers alone had had their information accessed. Shopify claims that the data stolen included names, addresses and order details, but not "complete payment card numbers or other sensitive personal or financial information." Shopify said that there was no evidence that the data had been misused, and identified two "rogue members" of its support team as having been responsible. They were fired, and the matter was forwarded to the FBI.
Tobias "Tobi" Lütke MSC is a German/Canadian entrepreneur who is the co-founder and CEO of Shopify, an e-commerce company based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Lütke was born in Koblenz, Germany in 1981. He received a Schneider CPC (German brand of the Amstrad Colour Personal Computer distributed by the Schneider Rundfunkwerke AG) from his parents at the age of six. By 11 or 12, he began rewriting the code of the games he played and modifying computer hardware as a hobby. Lütke dropped out of school and entered an apprenticeship program at the Koblenzer Carl-Benz-School to become a computer programmer after tenth grade. He moved from Germany to Canada in 2002.
Reasons for posting the shady history of the Canadian based German run company Shopify and its Child Protege, owner Tobias Lutke will be cleared up soon.

the anti-aging industry is disgusting. we will inevitably age, you don’t have to inject your face with botox and drink from specialized straws when you can just face reality.
aging is beautiful. God created us this way, and we should allow ourselves to feel life to its full extent instead of fearing our beauty being lessened.
when your worth is placed on character instead of outer-appearance, you will glow with happiness, and that’s what truly makes someone gorgeous forever.

Erin Reed at Erin In The Morning:
On Sunday, President Biden announced he will not seek a second term and endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris, as his pick to become the Democratic Party’s nominee. In the immediate aftermath, Harris' donations surged, and major Democratic officials rallied behind her. Republican influencers, however, seemed unprepared for a primary line of attack, initially conflating Harris’ potential presidency with the Biden administration’s policies. By evening, they appeared to have settled on a familiar but often unsuccessful tactic: focusing on pronouns and accessibility.
Within moments, several right-wing accounts posted the same video from 2022: a video of Vice President Harris sitting at a table and addressing a group of people, where she introduces herself by listing her pronouns and describing her clothing. She says, “Good afternoon, I want to welcome these leaders for coming in and having this very important discussion about some of the most pressing issues of our time. I am Kamala Harris, my pronouns are she and her, and I am a woman sitting at the table wearing a blue suit.”
The event was attended by a room full of disability rights leaders. According to White House Correspondent Andrew Feinberg, who stated that he was the print pooler at the event, “she was talking to a room of disability activists, including people who are/were blind.” Using descriptive terms to indicate who you are, your appearance, and what you are doing is a common technique to improve accessibility for audience members who may be blind. The Disability Visibility Project says of the practice, “A self-description provides information about a person that non-blind people passively glean. This includes identity characteristics such as skin color, gender identity, hair length and texture, wardrobe, and more.” Within hours, however, conservative accounts began pushing the video as their first major line of attack on the likely nominee. Anti-LGBTQ+ influencer Chaya Raichik posted it on her Libs of TikTok account, highlighting the footage. RNC Research, a collaborative social media account for the Republican National Committee and Team Trump, also spotlighted the video. Elon Musk quoted it, stating, “imagine 4 years of this…” Conservative influencer Wall Street Silver added, “Do we really want more of this woke junk?”
[...] The criticism to the line of attack is well-founded. Conservatives have attempted to target Democratic politicians over accessibility, transgender people, and other issues they deem to be “woke issues” for nearly four years, with little success to show for it.
The right-wing faux outrage machine’s attacks on Kamala Harris for using pronouns to address participants during a July 2022 meeting is a bit wack and a tool to push anti-trans and anti-”woke” fodder.

DrDisrespect has been outed for trying to meet up with an underage fan at a convention recently, so people have been asking LibsOfTikTok when she's going to talk about him. He is a man in a wig and a pedophile.
Of course she just blocks them.
It's almost like she doesn't actually care about children and only cares about existence of LGBT+ people?

i want to make it abundantly clear that if you support the likes of Libs of TikTok then i don't want to associate with you.
i don't even care about your politics. left, right, center, whatever.
the fact of the matter is this person is spreading misinfo and fueling the flames of harassment campaigns.
pardon my bluntness but i'm going to be firm in my opinion here.

Elsie Carson-Holt at LGBTQ Nation:
Anti-trans activists are outraged that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) allowed boxers who failed gender and testosterone tests in the boxing world championships last year to compete at the Paris Olympics, even though the boxers are not transgender. Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu‑ting of Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) were not permitted to compete in the 2023 women’s world championships for boxing because they failed the International Boxing Association’s (IBA) gender testing. IBA president Umar Kremlev said that DNA tests had “proved they had XY chromosomes and were thus excluded.” He also said that countries were recruiting cis men to compete in women’s sports. There is no evidence of that. Khelif, though, said last year that she was excluded by the IBA because she’s Algerian: “People have conspired against Algeria so that its flag doesn’t get raised and it doesn’t win the gold medal.” Unlike the IBA, the IOC is permitting both women to compete but isn’t commenting on the results of gender testing, their genetics, or their hormone levels other than to say that they meet the IOC’s eligibility rules. [...] Neither boxer is transgender – they were assigned female at birth and identify as women, making them cisgender – though anti-trans activists have spread transphobic rhetoric about the two women’s gender identities, including once-beloved children’s book author and current transphobe, J.K. Rowling.
Anti-trans influencers such as Riley Gaines and J.K. Rowling are throwing a faux outrage temper over two women (Imane Khelif [ALG] and Lin Yu-ting [TPE]) competing in boxing that are alleged to be “male”.
Both Khelif and Yu-ting are women and have always competed in women’s competitions.
This episode has revealed that the anti-trans movement has no valid argument on “saving women’s sports” if even cis women are being attacked for being not hewing to rigid womanhood standards.

New Hampshire Parents punished for silently expressing that they don't want their daughters XX getting killed playing sports against boys XY
"Male access to sports teams and spaces previously reserved for biological women and girls is opposed by GOP presidential candidate Donald J. Trump. However, President Joe Biden and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris are pushing hard to make “gender identity” rather than biological sex a protected class."
"...the pink armbands were deemed a violation of the school’s policy against threatening, harassing, or intimidating any person.”
"In August, a federal judge also ruled a Virginia school district could not prevent a male from playing against girls’ middle school tennis teams."
"Several parents have been issued “No Trespass” after protesting a male student being allowed to play in a girls’ soccer game. The parents attended the game wearing pink armbands marked “XX” in protest against the inclusion of a transgender player on the opposing team, aiming to support their daughters from Bow High School, New Hampshire. The parents had previously expressed concerns to the school’s athletic director regarding their daughters playing against a male in a physical sport like soccer. However, they were told that the school could not take action due to a federal judge ruling that the term “girl” includes males who identify as female. In response, several parents donned pink armbands to show their objection. This led to their receiving “No Trespassing” orders enforced by the police. “My daughter’s playing in the homecoming game this weekend, and I’m banned until the 23rd,” parent Anthony Foote told local media. I can’t watch her play in homecoming—which is ridiculous.”
According to the order signed by the district’s superintendent, Marcy Kelley, the pink armbands were deemed a violation of the school’s policy against “threatening, harassing, or intimidating any person.” However, videos from the match reportedly show that people upset by the armbands caused the only disruptions.

Ari Drennen at MMFA:
She’s at it again: Libs of TikTok creator Chaya Raichik seized on early reports by local law enforcement to suggest that a high schooler who was arrested for making a threat about a school shooting is part of an “epidemic” of “trans violence.” Although police later clarified that they’d inaccurately used he/him pronouns to refer to the student, the account — which currently has 3.5 million followers on X — never bothered to share the correction.
The tactic of blaming trans people immediately and then refusing to backtrack when more details emerge has become a troubling pattern for Libs of TikTok. Following the recent school shooting in Winder, Georgia, Raichik called for “a national conversation about the modern LGBTQ movement radicalizing youth into becoming violent activists,” misrepresenting a CNN report claiming that the shooter had been motivated by fury over society’s acceptance of trans people. The account also seized on inaccurate media reports that a shooter at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, was trans, fearmongering about a supposed “epidemic of trans violence.” Raichik previously refused to delete a post blaming an innocent trans woman for carrying out the tragic school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, acknowledging that she had been wrong but defending her decision to leave the post up by asking whether there was “a law against lying.” The post is still live, more than 8 months after it was originally posted.
Anti-LGBTQ+ extremist X account Libs of TikTok used the Apalachee High School Shooting to push the blatantly false trope of a “trans shooter epidemic” for the purpose of stoking anti-trans animus, nevermind the fact that most mass shooters are cis males.

I live in Oklahoma. I am Indigenous. I am a mom of three teen girls, all of them identify as members of the Alphabet Mafia, **I** identify as a member of the Alphabet Mafia. & I wear my Pride merch all year round not just a singular month.
Because of my anxiety I avoid media involving specific topics, especially when it comes to school violence. Not because I don't care, but because I care too much. & I am active in my community & help where I can, I don't have to watch the news to do that.
But Nex Benedict's murder is deeply affecting me. It's not fair. You raise your babies the best you can. You send them to school to get an education to make them the best they can be. & they're supposed to be safe there. & they're not. It's literally nightmare fuel, which is why I avoid the news as much as I can.
& it doesn't help when your own children are Indigenous, Hispanic, gay & female. & you hear stories like this & you just feel like you're internally bleeding for a child you have never met.
& you can deeply feel for their parents & family. Because though it hasn't happened to you & yours - you live with that fear everyday. You live with it for so long & the fear is so palpable, it feels like it could be real at any moment.
Every phone call from the school, every text from one of your children - it's no longer the age of, "What did they do wrong? What assignment are they missing?" No. It's now firstly & foremost, "Oh my God, what's happening?"
& I am so horrified & saddened that Nex's family has to live with, "Oh my God, what's happening?"
So today I am wearing my "Let Me Be Perfectly Queer" overshirt & my "Free Mom Hugs" pin in remembrance of Nex. But also as a very public "Fuck You" to those who keep allowing these types of tragedies to happen.
