#Jack's such a Dad

To be completely honest…

… I don't actually like Murdoc that much as a character, or his related plots. Invincible villains get tiring to me rather quickly if there's no exceptions/developments, and he didn't appear enough to make him feel like a threat to the whole team/those close to them. Sparse appearances meant he had to spend the whole time focused only on Mac (and Cage, bc apparently they couldn't think of any other way to write the poor woman out), and I think he's given too much credit. Also he's rude to Jack in a way I Don't Care For.

But damn do I like the 'sometimes the best way to watch your back is to have it somewhere else' conversation in his introductory ep. I don't agree that Murdoc should be treated as better than Jack (esp bc what's he done by that point but have more ammo?), but I do buy him being good enough to worry Jack (after all, we need some real threats here). And the fact is, Lucas and George play that scene so well. Those two had excellent chemistry and played off each other very well, and this is a good scene for it.

It's more than Mac listening to Jack when he argued w/ Thornton. It's that Mac shuts up and listens to Jack right from the 'now listen.' Bc the energy is different and he can tell. I could go on a whole analysis about why I think Jack acts the way he does, but he's definitely smarter and more competent than some of the canon or even the fanbase give him credit for. I think he acts goofy to distract and diffuse, and to cope w/ some of the stuff I'm ninety percent sure he's had to do (they could look me in the eyes and tell me Jack has never had to do Black/Wet Ops and I would say they were lying). It's not the first time he's dropped the jokes or expressed fear, though, but it's different. Jack's frightened to the point of sounding angry, of putting his foot down—and, in turn? That scares Mac. The way he leans back and looks vaguely stunned as Jack talks, the fact that he can barely remember to nod when Jack finishes. The fact that he's speechless. Mac's never seen this side of Jack before (my guess is bc any other time it's come out has been bc Mac himself was seriously injured or missing). I think, on some level, Mac's used to viewing Jack as kind of infallible. He's not naive, of course, we've had stuff like Cairo, but we're talking about two bullets four guys here. I don't think Mac's ever seen Jack be openly, truly scared (especially bc Mac's probably the person Jack would most want to hide his fear from).

And it's that realisation that, essentially, frightens Mac into complying.

I don't really understand why people only consider destiel jack's dads, not just because sam is also there, but also because it's infinitely funnier if Jack says "I have more dads than most people" and means 1. the devil himself 2. the president of the united states 3. a fallen angel 4. that guy's situationship 5. number 4's brother

my issue is that just rewatching Supernatural isn’t enough. It takes too long. I want it all at once. I need a room covered in 327 monitors that feed me every single episode at the same time. I need the DVDs melted down and put into an IV drip. I want every single minute of the show tattooed on the inside of my eyelids. I need to live inside its flesh.

Alfred: Please listen. A few hours ago, the Justice League was compromised. Batman was able to send me a coded message that they were being mind-controlled by ghosts before he was captured. You and your wife are the only known contacts for Phantom. The world needs his help before the Justice League goes on a planned massacre. Jack: ....Fine, but only because thousands of innocent people could get hurt. *Turns to shout up the stairs* Danny! Can you come down here?! Alfred: We don't have time for your kids. We must move before- Jack: Unlike you, I always have time for my kids, but no, this isn't just a moment when you met your grandson. You need Phantom, don't you? Alfred: Yes? Jack: Then you need Danny. Danny: Did you need me, Dad? *looks at door* Who's this? Jack: The man who would rather be a butler/nanny to someone's kid than be a decent Father. Also, your new teammate for the upcoming battle. We're going to punch Batman in his dad-stealing face. Danny shifting into Phantom: FINALLY.

So this is the “pilot episode” for a comic I’d like to keep adding onto just for fun, the basic premise is that it’s a post canon fix it comic about Dean discovering who he is outside of his macho persona while also repairing his relationships and building new ones.

It is a Destiel fic but it’s gonna be a slow burn because Dean has decided he can’t talk about his feelings until all his emotional issues are resolved (spoilers that’s not how things like that work).

I also plan on peppering in some lore explaining how Cas got out of the empty, how they ended up with a house, and who is currently God in universe. I’m not sure when I’ll get to work on another installment but hopefully it won’t be long because this has been an AU rolling around in my head since 2020

Okay alright I'm tired of giving more children to Bruce Wayne I think we need to start taking some away 

Tim getting kidnapped (but in a way they don't announce Tim Drake-Wayne as missing??) and is given Something that induces amnesia but he escapes or maybe just literally wanders away but like he's in the middle of Ohio and he's walking down the road unsure of his own name or where he is and a weird looking camper pills over and a large man leans out the window and says “you doing alright there, sonny?” 

And he doesn't really know so he sorta shrugs so they pick him up and the man introduces himself as Jack and this is his wife Maddie and their two kids Danny and Jazz and they're just heading back from a camping trip and they can take him into town (Amity?) and take him down to the station and help him get things figured out 

The police take his picture and upload it to a “found” database or smth but there's no active or recent cases in Ohio for missing persons (or teenagers) matching his description 

(But also, Amity is pretty disconnected from the rest of the world digitally. They mind their business. Sure they run this boy's face in the newspaper and let the neighboring precincts about him but there's not much more they can do until this kid gets some memories back)

So he goes to stay with Jack and Maddie (idk how i don’t care about LAWS) while they wait to see if they get any hits or until he gets some memories back and they register him under Alvin (“hmm maybe... Tom? No, definitely not. Caroline? Alvin? That sounds the best I guess”) Fenton at the local high school so he can keep getting an education (and Alvin isn’t sure why, but this sort of feels like a waste of time, he already knows all this math stuff and why would he want to read Of Mice and Men he’s pretty sure someone told him John Steinbeck was a hack. Or maybe not. He can’t remember) but it’s simple enough and he likes the Fentons even if they keep trying to convince him ghosts are real 

And maybe they are. Actually. Real that is. He saw one the other day and had to double check if knowing ghosts were real is a common knowledge thing that he forgot of if he never knew in the first place. Jazz tells him that ghosts are pretty much an Amity specific thing but that they appear other places and then Jack and Maddie set him down and give him the entire history of ghosts that night and then show him their lab which is pretty cool

And maybe he accidentally suplexed someone who startled him in the halls on his first day and also fell asleep in science,but give him a break! he’s going through a lot right now

But his new brother roommate friend? Is helping him adjust at school by telling him who to avoid and what not to eat from the cafeteria and Jazz is in most of his classes but also he’s not sure why they’re trying to act all sneaky about this Inviso-Bill/vigilante situation because like. That’s clearly just Danny with white hair? He looks the exact same? Also he literally saw Danny walk through the bathroom door last week if it wasn’t obvious enough.

So Tim really isn’t expecting Danny to be surprised that he picked up a thermos that Phantom dropped when he and his friends ran off to fight another ghost

Tim Drake who hates his dad for various reasons, very few to do with his parenting and more for his actual personality, but his mother?

There isn’t a person alive he adores more than her.

Like, he genuinely worships the ground she stands on and will spend hundreds of hours thinking about what present to give her with a dozens ideas and he always, always, just decides to do them all.

His way of greeting his mother is to kiss her hands, the hands that raised him and defend him from people like Vale with unrelenting force.

Janet isn’t a submissive woman, she is a mother.

Like a predator in the wild, she will do whatever it takes to take care of her son. Janet is a quick witted woman raised in the high class, meaning she can verbally destroy anyone no matter how much their net worth is.

One of the most well known photos from all of Gotham is when Lex Luther came to visit and made a subtle remark about Tim being apart of the ‘woke kids’ after it spoke out about climate change. The photo is of Janet Drake, a remarkably tall woman in stiletto’s, pointing a finger at Lex Luther as if a witch making a curse, the hairless man standing there with a look of genuine regret, and nine year old Tim Drake standing behind his mother with a shit eating grin.

It naturally gets memed.

Tim has called restaurants ahead of time to make sure they will have his mother’s favourite wine when she goes to dinner events, dates with Jack, or a family dinner since he learnt what it was. (And if not then anything Bordeaux will do.)

Tim would come home and cry whenever he wasn’t able to tell his mum about the secret parts of his day, such as him taking photos of Batman and when he became Robin.

But his mother has so much to deal with, so many rude people and conniving businessmen, sexist journalist and people attacking her for her overtly pro-choice commentary.

She doesn’t need to worry about her baby boy and he calls her every night anyway, so she’ll know he is okay.

After all, she went through a horrible pregnancy and never once took it out on or blamed her son.

She went through body dysphoria from how it changed her, struggling with how her hips felt bigger and her whole self felt different, but learnt to love it because it was just proof she did the best she could for her baby.

Even though she went on trips with her husband, she never once forgot to call her son or bring him back little souvenirs. She fully supported him taking photos, buying him a camera even though she didn’t get the appeal, and would laugh so brightly when little Tim begged to take photos of her even though she had just woken up without a hint of make up on and curlers still in her hair.

Naturally, when she passes away he is a wreck.

Even Vickie Vale keeps quiet about it, knowing that the love the boy has for his mother isn’t something to mess with.

Photos of him sobbing at her grave are shamed by the masses, the journalist and paparazzi who toon the photos getting all kinds of backlash.

Bruce, who had once been watched by Tim like a hawk to make sure he wouldn’t do the same thing, subtly puts Tim on watch just in case. He’s not sure if Tim is at that breaking point, but the teenager spends hours walking around the empty house he and his mother used to live in while waiting for his dad to wake up. He’s like a ghost some days, wearing the same clothes and barely talking, while other days it’s like he’s running on pure determination to be the best Robin and heir for his mother’s company.

After a few months, Dick asks Tim what keeps him going even though he’s clearly hurting.

Tim, who has worn black most of that time like Queen Victoria, smiled at his pseudo-brother and answers like it’s obvious,

“Because I’d never hurt my mamas little boy.”

Smol Au where Bruce heard one 1 detail about Tim’s home life and immediately went into Bat-Dad Override Mode.

Like, imagine Tim offhandedly mentioning something like, “Oh yeah, my parents used to forget I existed sometimes. I once had to fake a break-in just to get their attention.” And Bruce just freezes. Cue the world's longest internal monologue:

"Wait. What. What do you mean 'forget you existed'? What do you mean 'fake a break-in'? TIM, WHAT DO YOU MEAN—"

And the next thing you know, Tim blinks and—boom, Brucie Wayne has casually committed legal theft.

Paperwork? Done. Custody battle? There was none. Jack Drake? Doesn’t even realize he’s been replaced yet. Bruce just pulls some billionaire strings, has Alfred pack up Tim’s things, and suddenly Tim legally belongs to the Batfamily (As if he didn't emotionally belong to them already)

Tim: “Wait, what?” Bruce: “You live here now.” Tim (Scared of Jack): “But my father-” Bruce (Hugging him): “No. I'm done seeing you go back to a place where they don't care.”

Meanwhile, Dick, Jason, Cass, Steph, and Damian are in the background, going absolutely feral over the fact that Bruce didn’t do this sooner.

Dick is so happy he picks Tim up and swings him around like a ragdoll.

Jason takes the opportunity and breaks into the place and steals the expensive stuff that Tim mentioned he liked.

Cass just smiles and nods approvingly before immediately making Tim do some ridiculous high-difficulty sparring because "You are true family."

Steph is thriving because she’s been screaming about how her twin deserved better for years. More chaos fun for them now.

Meanwhile, Damian is pretending to be normal about it.

He’s sitting there like “Hmph. This changes nothing.”

Internally, he is losing his mind. “Father should have stolen custody a long time ago.”

He spends the next month being extra insufferable about Tim’s new legal status but also follows him around just a bit more than usual.

Then Duke shows up later, and the other Batkids make sure he gets the memo.

Cass just hands him a file labeled “People We Hate.” Jack Drake is at the top.

Jason corners him like “If you ever see a Ouija board, we’re using it to haunt Jack Drake.”

Dick just gives him the reasons straight

Steph just mentions it once or twice.

Damian openly insults Jack at a gala

By the end of the week, Duke is fully briefed and casually says “Screw Jack Drake” at the dinner table, earning an approving nod from Jason.

Tim... Tim just stared.

He...

Huh.

He had once entertained the idea that he wasn't really a Drake, a very long time ago when he overheard his mom and dad arguing and some words were said in the heat of the moment, but to be honest Tim always thought the obvious culprit of anyone being his dad would most likely be Bruce (Bruce even admitted he had a small fling with his mother but that was two years before her marriage)

But before little Tim's curiosity could really take hold on the idea, he had saw on the news Robin performing a Grayson flip and the hint of Tim not being a Drake left his mind. Robin was Dick Grayson! And if he was Robin that had to mean Bruce Wayne was Batman!

Then well... his stalking of the Bats started and the rest became history.

But now, as Tim was staring at his own DNA test, something he never bothered to do until that damned Demon brat wanted to make sure he was ONLY blood son of Bruce (and doing a DNA test something even Bruce never thought of doing due to well… how he was towards Tim during his first months as Robin)

He well…

He kinda needs to find out who this Daniel Jackson Fenton is.

(Tim finds out he isn’t a Drake, but also not a Wayne (because Damian wanted to make sure he was only blood son) but is instead a Fenton)
