Hollywood's Mark Ruffalo calls for a ceasefire at The DGA Awards
Mark Ruffalo has called for a ceasefire at the DGA awards and says ā€œWeā€™re not going to bomb our way to peace.ā€ Though The Hulk actor mistakenly cited that there were 2,700 Palestinians dead (he meant more than 27,000 - ed.), he was passionate about calling for peace. He said: ā€œWeā€™ve come to understand this bombing isnā€™t working, weā€™re not going to bomb our way to peace, and all weā€™re saying is, whatā€™s wrong with giving a ceasefire a chance? "We have a million refugees on the border of Rafah right now, who are looking at another bombing surge, and we have 400,000 people starving to death right now, without any humanitarian aid being able to get in there." He added: "So weā€™re asking the leaders of the world, especially President Biden, to demand a ceasefire, a lasting ceasefire, and give peace a chance instead of just a continued bombing, the escalation of violence and what will soon become a regional war that America will be dragged into.ā€

Hamas just released its proposal for a permanent ceasefire. Israel has dismissed all of their proposals as ā€œunrealisticā€ ā€” and that has been echoed across the U.S. corporate media.
Here are the actual proposals from each side.

The Israeli army is just shooting anyone they think is Palestinian, much the same way that Israel is indiscriminately bombing all of Gaza, including the ā€œsafe zonesā€ where they have directed noncombatant civilians to go right before they bomb them anyway. Itā€™s war crimes, plain and simple.

Israel killed EVERY person in this photo.
An ENTIRE blood line. GONE.

Hamas presented a ceasefire proposal but israel doesn't accept
Proposal seen by Reuters includes exchange of hostages, Palestinian detainees
Women, children and elderly to be released in first stage
In exchange, 700-1,000 Palestinian prisoners would be freed
Israel says proposal is based on 'unrealistic demands'
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tell me again how israel cares about the hostages? Tell me how again they still trying "oh so hard" to get the hostages back?
There are currently over 8000 Palestinians in israeli jails, most of them convicted without a trial, most of them are innocent and over a 100 are serving life sentences.
Yet when hamas proposes a deal that allows ALL the children, women, elderly or ill to be released for only a fraction of the Palestinians detainees israel calls it unrealistic?
Israel doesn't care about hostages. Never has and never will. They will continue to use this as an excuse to ethnically cleanse the Palestinians.
Anyone who still supports israel is just delusional at this point.
It was never about the hostages

the United States airdropped 38,000 meals into Gaza
some progress, I guess, but itā€™s not enough.
the airdrop on March 2, 2024, came two days after 100+ Palestinians were killed after Israeli forces opened fire on desperate, starving civilians in what was dubbed the ā€œflour massacre.ā€
this is part of an US attempt to aid Palestinians as Gaza faces starvation. three US air force cargo planes dropped 38,000 meals ā€” no water or medical supplies ā€” in southwest Gaza. but cargo planes canā€™t carry as much as aid convoy trucks. and weā€™ve seen the tragedy that happened.
aid groups have criticized this plan, and they are absolutely right. theyā€™ve said the focus should be forcing Israel to open up more ports and entryways into Gaza instead of airdropping because trucks can carry way more supplies, like Iā€™ve mentioned.
there are also several drawbacks to airdropping supplies: itā€™s inefficient, expensive, and doesnā€™t provide enough aid. there are 1.5+ million refugees in Rafah. 38,000 meals can only provide for ~0.253% of the refugees. itā€™s not even 1%.
but the Gazans need everything they can get right now. airdrops, however inefficient they are, are essential for Gazans to survive.
support a ceasefire now.

Here's a controversial opinion that really shouldn't be:
Palestinians have the right to live in their homeland (or any other land) with security and dignity.
Israelis and Diaspora Jews also have the right to live in their homeland (or any other land) with security and dignity.
These need not and should not be contradictory positions, because the entire point of human rights is that they're universal, and if they're not, then they're not rights, just privileges, and you don't really believe in human rights at all.

Christopher Mathias at HuffPost:
A coalition of 185 social justice and religious groups published an open letter Monday expressing support for theĀ campus protest encampmentsĀ sweeping the country in opposition to Israelā€™s siege of Gaza, and calling on university administrators to end the brutal crackdowns of the student-led demonstrations. ā€œWe commend the students who are exercising their right to protest peacefully despite an overwhelming atmosphere of pressure, intimidation and retaliation, to raise awareness about Israelā€™s assault on Gaza ā€” with U.S. weapons and funding,ā€ the letter states. ā€œThese students have come forth with clear demands that their universities divest from corporations profiting from Israeli occupation, and demanding safe environments for Palestinians across their campuses. ā€ Groups that signed the letter include Gen-Z for Change, Working Families Party, IfNotNow Movement, Young Democrats of America Black Caucus, Movement for Black Lives, Sunrise Movement, MPower Change, Jewish Voice for Peace, Palestine Legal, and the Unitarian Universalist Association.
SomeĀ 900 students have been arrestedĀ during anti-war encampments and demonstrations at American universities in the last 10 days, per a tally from Al Jazeera ā€” a tumultuous period that mirrors volatile demonstrations against the Vietnam War in 1968, when police arrested at least 700 students. The open letter Monday represents one of the largest shows of support among progressive groups for the burgeoning student protests, and makes clear the divide between establishment Democratic figures and social justice groups when it comes to U.S. support for Israel. President Joe Biden has refused so far to condition the sale of weapons to Israel. ā€œOur communities have been horrified to see the militarized and violent response to students protesting an ongoing genocide funded and supported by our government, and our coalition of organizations join millions of our members across the country in standing in solidarity with the studentsā€™ efforts in support of the people of Gaza,ā€ Yasmine Taeb, one of the main organizers of the letter, told HuffPost. Taeb is a human rights lawyer and political director at MPower Change, a Muslim social justice group.
ā€œInstead of attacking young people mobilizing for Palestinian human rights, President Biden needs to listen to the majority of Americans who have been calling on him to stop funding and supporting the atrocities committed against the people of Gaza,ā€ Taeb said.
[...] Israel has killed over 33,000 Palestinians since Oct. 7, when the Gaza-based militant group Hamas launched an attack in which nearly 1,200 Israelis were killed. In January, the International Court of Justice ruled that Israelā€™s siege of Gaza ā€” which has displaced 85% of the population and put the occupied territory on the cusp of famine ā€” left Palestinians at risk of experiencing a genocide. Last week, health officials in Gaza saidĀ medics had discovered mass gravesĀ at hospitals raided by Israeli troops. ā€œWe join [the students] in calling for an immediate and lasting ceasefire and an end to the U.S.Ā governmentā€™s and institutionsā€™ role in the ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza,ā€ Mondayā€™s letter states. ā€œAs we stand in solidarity with the students protesting in encampments across the country, we reaffirm our commitment to amplifying their voices, condemn the university administration officialsā€™ violent response to their activism, and demand that universities remove the presence of police and other militarized forces from their campuses,ā€ it continues.
[...] Meanwhile,Ā Republican PartyĀ officials and right-wing media figures have accused the demonstrations of antisemitism, falsely equating criticism of Israel with bigotry towards Jews. Although there have been scattered reports of actual antisemitic incidents at or near the encampments,Ā many were not perpetrated by studentsĀ but by interlopers. Many of the student protesters across the country are Jewish. Far-right agitators, including Christian nationalist activists, have also targeted the encampments, with MAGA pastor Sean Feucht leading hundreds of Christian and Jewish Zionists on a march around the Columbia campus on Thursday. The rally ended with pro-Israel demonstrators yelling through the gate at pro-Palestinian Columbia students. ā€œGo back to Gaza!ā€ they screamed.
More than 185 groups, including IfNotNow, Jewish Voice For Peace, MPower Change, and Working Families Party, signed a letter in support of the campus protests against Israel Apartheid State's genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
