Ok a few things because trust me I am aware about how awful everything feels
One.
If you know someone who is not legally here no you don’t. Do not mention them online even if it’s expressing concern. Again.
DO NOT SAY ANYTHING ONLINE ABT FRIENDS AND FAMILY WHO MAY NOT BE HERE LEGALLY.
Two.
Know your rights if ICE comes to talk you. You have every right to not talk to them.
This is for my state so your rights may be different state to state so please do your research. If you know someone here non legally make sure to pass this information to them.
Three.
If you are an employer or employee here are your rights if ice comes to your school or workplace.
This man is a lawyer
Four.
Do not talk about someone or yourself getting an abortion if you are in states currently in danger of reproductive rights. Both irl and online.
Five.
Trust only close friends and family WHO HAVE EXPLICITLY GIVEN THEIR VIEWS with your reproductive health if you are in states currently under threat of reproductive rights being taken.
Six.
If you are in states with no protections for transgender people or youth. Do not mention being trans or knowing trans people.
Seven.
If you are going to a protest here are few things to note and bring.
Cover your face, tattoos, scars, and hair if it’s dyed abnormal colors.
Do not engage with police. They are not there to protect you they are they for arrests.
If someone is trying to rile up the crowd into looting or burning ignore them.
Bring a first aid kit.
Bring bottles of milk to help with pepper spray. (Correction do NOT USE MILK! Use water or saline solution and take out contacts!!!)
If you are white or cis advocate for your poc and visibly queer people. They will be targeted first during arrests.
Lastly say nothing if you are arrested. Request a lawyer immediately.
Always film if someone is being arrested you have a right to film. This goes for if someone is also being detained by ice.
Anyway please stay safe. We will make it.

I’ve seen quite a few people this past week ask something along the lines of ‘how to be up-to-date and properly informed about current events and politics and also not get super depressed?’
While most of these were phrased in a joking matter, it actually is a really good question. Being able to balance awareness of the shitty things happening in the world, but not letting that shittiness destroy you is a skill.
Being well informed is vital. However, if you become so informed that it’s starting to effect your life, you’ve gone too far.
The point of being aware of current events, especially bad ones, is so you can do something about it. Read about it, post about it, donate to charity, volunteer, etc. Something you can’t do if your overwhelmed with (rightful) anger and sadness.
So the answer to the original question is that you become informed enough that you want to do something about it, but do not overload yourself to the point where you feel too depressed to take any action.
Burying your head in the sand isn’t good. But neither is doomscrolling into oblivion. Find that middle where you are actively interested in what is happening in the world, but not to the point where it becomes a hinderance to regular life.
Being aware of the world around you is super interesting, but don’t spiral. Misery loves company. Stay informed, stay active, stay hopeful.

While discussing how few of people my age recognize Little Nemo... We were talking about some of our "obscure" favorites.
And for books I will always praise Stellaluna and:
#I was iffy on adding a few of the animated once listed at the top. I feel like Fern Gully had a good cast & that helped with it being viewed#Also since we're being specific: onscure also to people outside of the USA. My wife is an immigrant.

Time for our regular reminder to people from New England that our native dialect’s charming slang for a small liquor store is a racial slur in the rest of the English speaking world.
Yes I know we don’t mean it that way. Yes I know we have no idea. Yes I know that people from Pakistan hardly ever visit New England let alone settle there, and it is 💯 innocently meant in New England.
It is extraordinarily unfair that the racial connotations of keeping a small corner shop means that it unintentionally doubles the impact of the slur.
It’s wicked uncool but there you go and now you know.
#package stores#New England#I first discovered this in 2010 thankfully just before moving to the UK#when dr glass was like hello you call them what???????#but it’s one of the few New England dialect words that really stick#and with very few immigrants from that region to that region#like if you’re going to emigrate you might as well go somewhere more pleasant without weather that kills you on every season#you can go your whole New England life not knowing#I know it’s innocent and I’m not the boss of slurs but I hope this helps!

I see a lot of “I can’t criticize Checo because someone will call me xenophobic 🙄”, then I check their criticism and it’s just
“He signed his contract and now he’s just coasting.”
“He hates women”
“Monaco”
“Cheating on his pregnant wife” news source from Dutch paper that notoriously ran smear campaigns against him and Max’s mom that was upset after Brazil 2022
Some kind of weird fetishization and strangely over analyzing his relationship with his wife. Accusation of misogyny
Another accusation of misogyny
“He said women should be in the kitchen!” Taken out of context.
Which is funny that your response is ‘wow can’t say anything because of woke left’ instead of doing some self reflection and trying to correct your micro aggressions.

Okay okay, so we all know the idea of like tiny aliens crashing in a humans yard. With said aliens being either a pilot who had a crash landing, or a team of scientists studying a new world. But what about an escape pod type situation.
Picture it! One day a person is just minding their business maybe they’re gardening outside or typing away at a computer when suddenly something crashes near them (Rip the window if they were inside)looking over they see a crashed alien space ship. Except it’s not slim like the movies and doesn’t even have guns on the side, at least visibly. It’s more bulky and more the size of a decent size rock, one requiring two hands at least. Anyway, a hatch opens and two small aliens step out holding strange weapons (cause ya know aliens) and they look around before seeing the human. Both sides freak out. The tiny aliens shout something back into the ship as they stand guard, but they are shaking.
The person after shaking of the shock of “holy shit aliens are real and they just ruined my roses” notices that the aliens aren’t wearing proper space suits, Nothing fancy at least, but rather normal clothing. No belts, no fancy equipment, something a more day to day person would wear; but what do they know about alien culture. Perhaps more then they think as they notice that through a few of the windows or even on the opened hatch, a few more aliens are appearing, looking out to gaze at the strange huge world they crashed on. That’s when the human figures out that this space ship isn’t for battle, transporting goods, or science. It’s most likely an escape pod, and a big one. Think ships that would transport immigrants to their new home but ya know space. That explains why the two “guards” aren’t trained, it probably wasn’t a super important ship and probably carried whatever the alien equivalent to a lower class was. Maybe this is reflected in the design of the ship, with it not being super fancy or have weapons.
Either way there are still aliens in the persons home. Maybe the human lowers themself down trying to be non-threatening towards the aliens. There’s clearly a language barrier and probably a non-verbal language barrier too. Perhaps the human decides they want to help the aliens and find out what happened. Destroyed home world? Escape of an evil Monarchy? Space Nazis? Who knows!
Somehow the aliens trust the human through very slow non-verbal communication with a few miscommunications with said communication. (How were they supposed to know that the hands up wasn’t peace but meant hungry?) Either way, the pick up the spaceship and all its passengers and puts them in a safer place. Let’s say the aliens and the human build a friendship, even though communication may not be possible, the two species learn a to understand and communicate anyway. Maybe through time the aliens and the human build a small city or settlement for all the aliens who arrived on the ship. Maybe using a pool table and a train table as a base and just slowly expanding to accommodate the growth.
Who knows what happens next. Perhaps they help the aliens rebuild their ship and fit it with a defense system, so that they can continue their journey, and maybe a few decide to stay with the human. Maybe the house is passed down from generation to generation, keeping the aliens secret until they decide it’s time to leave or simply becomes impossible due to population size. Perhaps the government gets involved and our once average human joe has to go and save all their tiny alien friends!
Just tiny aliens. Not all of them have to be scientists and pilots. Some are just people looking for a better place to live
#g/t#gt#giant/tiny#gianttiny#giant tiny#g/t idea#g/t ideas#g/t thoughts#g/t thought#giant/tiny idea#giant/tiny ideas#gt idea#tiny alien#tiny aliens#ah yes literal alien immigrants love it#I’d help them#make a whole city/town in my attic#I’d do it!!! no one uses the attic anyway

“America likes to tell a certain story about itself: It’s a safe haven, a place of refuge for the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to breathe free. It’s a story that history shows hasn’t always been true. But thankfully, it just got easier for Americans to take matters into their own hands and turn that aspiration into a reality.
The Biden administration on January 19 launched the Welcome Corps, a new program that will allow groups of Americans to directly sponsor refugees to resettle in their communities.
Whereas recent programs have focused on bringing over people from specific places — Afghanistan, Ukraine, Venezuela — this program makes it possible for private citizens to resettle people from any place in the world, so long as they are refugees as defined by the US Refugee Act.
Under the Welcome Corps program, you and a few of your friends can pool together funds to provide an immigration pathway that allows vulnerable people who may not otherwise be able to immigrate the ability to rebuild their lives in the US. Forming a private sponsor group involves bringing together at least five adults in your area and collectively raising $2,275 for each person you want to resettle in your community. With that money, sponsors commit to helping them through the first three months there, which can include securing and furnishing housing, stocking the pantry with food, supporting job hunts, and registering kids for school.
It’s a powerful way to improve life for the newcomers, granting them protection from persecution or violence in their country of origin, plus the chance to access health care, education, and socioeconomic opportunities. It can also improve life for everyone who’ll be in the newcomers’ orbit, including you and your neighbors. Research suggests welcoming refugees will likely benefit your community as a whole, for example by opening new businesses that revitalize neighborhoods. In Canada, a similar private sponsorship program has proven immensely popular and successful over the past decade.
But you might be thinking: Why should it fall to private citizens to fork over the cash, time, and energy to resettle refugees? Shouldn’t that be the government’s job?
...It’s a fair point: This is the government’s job. That’s why the advocacy groups that pushed for the Welcome Corps program insisted that any refugees who come to the US via private sponsorship should be in addition to the number of traditional, government-assisted resettlement cases.
The State Department has signaled that it agrees. This means that by sponsoring a refugee, you can play a role in allowing the US to take in more refugees overall. It really is additive.
And unlike prior programs for Afghans or Ukrainians, which were temporary, ad hoc responses to crises, the Welcome Corps is intended to be a permanent fixture. The hope is that it’ll complement the traditional resettlement process, which has been struggling for years.”

With the return of Shitbreak, comes the Mass Deportations that his followers have been salivating over. BUT this is why I'M here to help assist and mitigate the POTENTIAL FUTURE DISASTERS this could cause. Because there WILL be BUT if I could help reduce it in any way I could, that's what this is for. ESPECIALLY since it starts tomorrow and will last until next Monday.
For every Non-White Person; because there WILL be racial profiling; just know that you do NOT have to talk to ICE if they approach you.
If they come to your house, you do NOT have to let them into your house if they do NOT have a warrant and IF they claim to have one, ask them to show you the signature signed by the judge since there have been MAGAs pretending to be ICE agents.
And if they stop you in traffic, again like above ONLY talk to and engage with them IF they have the proper warrant signed by a judge and IF they persist in bothering you, ask THEM for THEIR proper paperwork since again, MAGAs have pretended to be ICE agents. And if they don't want to comply, tell them you will NOT talk to them without unless there is a lawyer present.
And the main reason I'm sharing this is because given Trump and his cronies have said they plan on attacking sanctuary cities (I'm in one in New York) and I have no DOUBT they will use this as an excuse to declare Martial Law and then the true horrors can begin. Why else is Trump shilling for that drunk, waste of useless human shit, Pete Hegseth?
Here is a link that goes into it more in depth but I feel I hit the major bullet points:
Again fucked up shit WILL happen but hopefully this can help reduce the amount of fuckery nonsense.
Yes things look bleak but the fight is NOT over yet!!!
KEEP HOPE AND KEEP FIGHTING!!!!!

Info for The Incoming ICE Raids
Full disclosure, I only speak English and around a sliver or arabic and I myself am not an immigrant. I am just doing my best to compile information. Any additions or comments are welcome and appreciated.
First, remember this; DON'T PANIC.
(both of these infographics were found on this post.)
If you see ICE officer in your area, shout "La migra" and "ICE" as loud as you can to alert those around you.
Know Your Rights
We Have Rights is a website dedicated to educating about your rights in the event of an ICE encounter. From everything from documenting the presence of ICE officer, to responding when ICE is at your door, to even what to do when ICE detains you; this website has information to help in the form of short animated videos.
To every non-immigrant reading, PLEASE watch this video specifically. It contains incredibly important info of what to do when documenting an ICE arrest and this information 100% pertains and should be utilized by you.
vimeo
We Have Rights also contains resources for creating an emergency plan here. The website is currently available in English, Spanish(Español), Arabic (العربية), Simplified Chinese (中文), Haitian Creole (Kreyól Ayisyen), Russian (РУССКИЙ), and Urdu (اردو).
I also found this page on the National Immigration Law Center's website. It thoroughly goes through what to do when encountering ICE in many situations in an easy to navigate article. It is available in Spanish(Español), Arabic (العربية), Simplified AND Traditional Chinese (中文/), Haitian Creole (Kreyól Ayisyen), Korean (한국어/조선어), Tagalog, And Vietnamese (tiếng Việt).
Know Your Local Hotlines
It is important that if you have information on an ongoing or approaching aggression being carried out by ICE that you report it to one of the many Rapid Response Network/Immigration Hotlines so they can spread the word and help support the community in response.
This list compiled at the National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights's website has a list of every hotline by state, every national hotline, hotlines for LGBTGIA+ Immigrants, Missing Migrant hotlines, region specific hotlines and more.
If you do not have a local hotline, I (as someone with zero experience or authority mind you) personally recommend reporting to United We Dream. United We Dream is a national hotline specifically focused on raid reports that can be reached at 1-844-363-1423 and texted at 877877. Photos, videos, and the most specific info possible are the most useful.
Miscellaneous Advice;
Never, EVER reveal the immigration status of ANYONE to an ICE officer.
It is important to know your rights; however, that doesn't mean ICE will respect them. In the event that your rights are being violated, assess the risk when deciding whether to comply or assert your rights.
From what I've seen, many things which apply to cops also apply to ICE. So, do not treat them any differently. They are not your friends, they will use any information you give them to incriminate and manipulate you.
Please take care of yourself. Spend time with friends and family, do things you love. No matter how bleak the world seems, there are thousands fighting for you and by your side. We will prevail.
#mass deportations#trump deportations#forced deportation#undocumented immigrants#immigration#refugees#uspol#us politics#ice#immigrants#info post#community defense#organization#deportation raids#again please add anything I missed and correct anything I get wrong.#I am trying my best to help as a non immigrant and false information is worse than useless#I will edit the post as soon as possible in response to corrections and new information#Vimeo

Question
If birthright is taken away, what my child would be? She is half Brazilian and half Puerto Rican, and I am scared for my husband.
Every time I go to X to "watch the news", I just encounter fear that this nation will go upside down after having a convicted criminal as president, and see how many things he signed off.
We are going backwards as a nation.
How can I calm myself down? Please, let me know your thought, and where I can find trustworthy resources/news.
