[ID: a digital drawing of chuuya and dazai from bungou stray dogs. in the main image, dazai is sitting on a metal counter in a nurse's office, his arms behind him to support him and knees spread so that chuuya can clean his wounds. he has bandages and scars on his arms and bare torso and is wearing white pants and white shoes. with a bored expression he says, hurry up. chuuya, who's opening a green bottle and is standing in front of the counter, shouts, wait a fucking minute, asshole, i'm not your damn nurse! in a smaller follow-up panel dazai shouts, you shot me! and chuuya is looking away while sweating and shouting back, you were being a shit. end ID]
the price of engaging in homoeroticism via shooting you 'old friend' THREE FUCKING TIMES more than necessary is, um... *checks notes* having to patch him up five minutes later whilst staring at his bare chest and then having to set his leg, thus literally putting him back on his feet to do his dramatic victory reveal??? this can't be right who wrote this

I've come to another realization--
This scene in particular is so important ahem let me do some sort of analysis:
Firstly, Shadow's desperation to stop Sonic right away by exclaiming they're not real. This right here shows us that he empathizes with Sonic by trying to protect him from getting hurt. He understands these are the closest projections to his reality, so he does what he can to keep Sonic at a calm level instead of letting him spiral. We see this too by the way he guides his hand out to Sonic, but pulls back because Shadow has a difficult time expressing his emotions. I've stated before that I see Shadow as autistic. This, to me, kind of adds to that hc of mine. There's actually a lot of scenes in this episode I could pull to make my point ngl. Anyways, that's off topic a bit, but yeah he has a hard time with placing his empathy into comfort. Yet he still knows the right things to say, I believe this is because he's able to place himself in Sonic's view in some sense.
Shadow gets annoyed by Sonic for being stubborn and once again reiterates how Sonic has much more important things to live for. Like his "real" friends, I think Shadow saying this is so significant because it reminds me of his own backstory. He knows how hard it was to promise to save Maria and end up losing her, so he knows how Sonic would feel if he were to die and not be able to keep his promises or vice versa, where he couldn't save anyone else because of his impulsive decisions. The way Shadow becomes so adamant that Sonic needs to focus on those who are real and truly need saving makes me happy because it once again shows his empathetic side. He may not come out and say "I want to save everyone" but the way he expresses his desire to save those around him and to encourage Sonic in doing so as well, is brilliant. It's why he has in the past saved Rouge and other characters of course too. It's why he does sacrifice himself at the end of Sonic Adventure 2. He isn't heartless, he cares deeply and a character doesn't need to say they're a hero to do hero things either. Shadow can be a hero in his own way, but because of his past and because of him teaming up with EGGMAN. He came to be known on the dark team. You know the funny thing though, is that the dark team weren't even bad, they helped those around them, helped Sonic in many ways, I just believe they have different ambitions hence why they are on a separate team. I've always loved that they never considered them as evil. It makes Shadow such a realistic character in a lot of ways, he wants to save those around him, but he doesn't want to gain praise from it.
The fact that Sonic at first pushes Shadow away, but then pauses in realization. It's so good, the dynamic between them is why I'd love to have a game where they just have to work together and you play as both. It'd be interesting to see them write them as something other than rivals, because tbh, they weren't ever the typical rivals to begin with which I love. I think too it'd be such a refresher from all the poorly written Shadow characterization, it'd do justice for him and Sonic in a lot of ways. I also do hope one day that Sega allows us to play as all the characters again but i digress as I ramble on and on.
To go back on topic, they both wish for the same things but have such different mindsets. Sonic needed Shadow in this, because without Shadow, Sonic would be struggling to keep his head straight.

intertwined ~🐕‍🦺
🦋 category: one-shot
🦋 characters: megumi, minor ijichi and shoko, mentioned yuuji and nobara
🦋 summary: a late night mission which caused something completely unexpected to happen between you and megumi, letting you see a side to him you have never seen
🦋 warnings: nil
🦋 notes: istg i had to rewatch scenes of megumi’s shikigamis just to see if they had shadows to them for the sake of this story… it was 2am and i had work the next day LMAOOOO. and yes megumi’s shikigamis have shadows to them (jjk s1 ep8, megumi vs todo)
cursed technique - shadow manipulation
domain expansion - phantom illusion. it allows the user to be able to use the shadow of anything and morph them into any desired shape or form, or form them all into a spear to be driven through the enemy for a sure hit
pros - shadows are everywhere, the physical strength of it depends on the owner of the shadow, or how strong is the item, with the exception of shadows in domain expansion.
cons - the durability also depends on how clear the shadow is, the clearer the stronger. if the user uses their own shadow, they will feel whatever their shadow feels, they will get chopped in half if their shadow got chopped in half
Tumblr media
It was the middle of the night, in the middle of the heavy rain, and somehow, the higher ups figured that it was perfectly fine to let two first years go on a mission on a school night. They had robbed you of a good night’s sleep and had you thrown alongside Megumi for a mission. They were insane.
You and Megumi were the unlucky ones. Nobara was already fast asleep and the higher ups didn’t want to risk anything going wrong with Yuji, though it had made zero sense in your head that something would go wrong with Yuji in the middle of the night. Did they think that Sukuna would just appear at night like he was a vampire? The higher ups had no brain it seems. Could they have not asked someone else? Did they have to really send young children?
At least you were paired with Megumi, the only sane person among all of the first years, aside from you of course. It can’t be so bad, his technique was amazing.
You and Megumi were good friends. Mostly stuck to each other when Yuji and Nobara were up to their usual stupid stuff. If they weren’t, then Megumi wouldn’t mind being around Yuji. You and Megumi were mostly serious, the complete opposite of Yuji and Nobara. Sometimes, it led you to wonder how all four of you managed to even get along. It seemed so impossible. It was as if Nanami and Gojo suddenly became actual best friends.
The light from the street lamp was the only thing guiding you and Megumi as the both of you made your way around. You examined the area, trying to find out what in the world had just happened. The wreckage was scattered all over the ground and not a single part was free from the debris. It was caused by a grade 2 cursed spirit. If a grade 2 could cause this kind of damage, you had feared just what a special grade could do. You were a grade 3 sorcerer, obviously no match for a special grade curse.
“What do you think the cursed spirit does?” You asked, entering the area of destruction after a curtain was put up.
All you and Megumi knew was that the cursed spirit could create strong gusts of winds with a mere flick of its hands. It was strong enough to send several sumo wrestlers flying like they were mere sheets of paper.
“Don’t know, stay alert,” Megumi responded, summoning his Divine Dog right after.
The dark place was extremely advantageous to you. Clear shadows everywhere. It was basically your territory. A knife laid still on the ground, its shadow menacingly clear as you brought it to life. The huge shadow blade floated in the air above you while you and Megumi scanned the surrounding areas, waiting for the cursed spirit to show itself. The both of you stood back to back, eyes on high alert, analysing the area around the both of you.
The ground beneath the both of you began to shake. Your eyes darted to the ground with your shadow knife ready to attack. The floor broke as the cursed spirit rose, causing you and Megumi to both jump backwards. Almost on instinct, you sent your shadow blade after the creature, trying to slice it, or chop off a bit of it. The cursed spirit growled in pain before seemingly healing itself.
  Well, crap.
Megumi stared at the seemingly ginormous and invincible cursed spirit standing before him, sending his Divine Dog after it. You stared at his face, it seemed that he wanted to send out another of his shadow creatures. “Careful, Fushiguro,” you said, carefully eyeing the enemy.
“I’ll be fine,” Megumi replied, “You take care of yourself.”
You began to slowly grow concerned for the boy standing before you. You knew what kind of person he was. He was not someone you would trust when it came to ensuring his own safety.
Suddenly, a strong gust of wind swept you off your feet, sending you flying towards the ceiling. Megumi stared at the scene unfolding before him, shocked as the cursed spirit charged towards you, ready to kick you down onto the ground, the impact surely breaking more than just a few bones.
“Nue!” Megumi ordered as his shikigami flew towards your rescue, saving you from the nasty foot of the cursed spirit.
“Fushiguro!” You called out, “Thank you!” Clinging onto the back of Nue, you tried to create a shadow out of the broken pieces of a chair and have them slice through the cursed spirit. That didn’t cause much damage as the cursed spirit managed to recover from the wounds you had inflicted. You needed to find a stronger object with a clear shadow if you wanted any shot of killing that thing. Megumi’s Divine Dog was busy trying to attack the cursed spirit on the ground while he summoned more of his shikigami frogs to try and restrain the cursed spirit.
You suddenly had an idea. “Fushiguro! Let me borrow your shadows for a while!”   Megumi stared at you in confusion, before watching as his shikigamis’ and his own shadow leaving his body and standing on its own, ready to attack the cursed spirit. Double the army, double the chances. You hopped down from Nue and stood beside Megumi, waiting to attack together when the time was right.
“Do you think it's alright to attack now?” You asked, watching the cursed spirit fighting the tongues of Megumi’s shikigamis and your shadows. Megumi’s Divine Dog and your shadows seemed to be putting up a good fight as well, jumping and attacking at all the right times.
  “3…” Megumi began.
  “2..” You continued.
“1!” The both of you shouted in unison before charging up your cursed energy and getting ready to fist fight that creature to exorcise it. Megumi stood behind it while you stood in front, ready to throw a punch at the same time as Megumi.
The one part of the cursed spirit that wasn’t restrained was its mouth, and it used it to their advantage. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind appeared and swept you off your feet, sending you flying towards a wall. Your shadows all frozen, as you had stopped controlling them due to you being shocked at the surprise attack which caused your mind to blank out.
“Shit!” You cursed softly, trying to regain your composure and control over your shadows, forming them all into one huge ball of shadows to defend yourself from the upcoming attack from the cursed spirit. It was going to kick you into a wall, sending a bone shattering attack that has a really good chance at killing you. Your shadow ball wasn’t going to come to your aid so soon, you could watch as the foot of the cursed spirit came closer and closer to you. You squeezed your eyes shut and waited for the dreadful impact.
Only for your eyes to open when you felt something wrapping itself to your waist and forcefully pulling you away. The next thing you know, you were inside one of Megumi’s shikigami frogs. “Thanks Fushiguro!” You thanked him for his rescue effort before crawling out of the frog and getting back on your feet.
The cursed spirit did not seem to be backing down any time soon. Megumi once again tried to restrain the cursed spirit but it had seen through your tricks. It grabbed the tongue of one of the frogs and began to swing it towards you. The sudden move had caught you completely off guard as you tried to avoid getting hit, but the swing was simply too fast for you to avoid. The cursed spirit seemed hell bent on slamming you against a wall, and it achieved just that. Megumi could not dispel his frogs in time, nor were you able to jump out of the way in time, resulting in a bone shattering and wall breaking smash.
“Ah!” You screamed, feeling the impact as your body fell weakly onto the concrete floor. Pieces of the wall fell down, landing around you. It was a stroke of luck that none had managed to land a hit on the back of your head.
“Y/n!” Megumi shouted while trying to fend for himself against the enemy.
This had to be your hardest battle to date. Was the spirit really a grade 2?
The cursed spirit now had its attention on a panicked Megumi. You looked up and saw that he had summoned Max Elephant. The gush of water filled the room, making you drown and scrambling about for air. It wasn’t because you could not swim, you were just too weak to move.
“Fushiguro!” You yelled, watching as the cursed spirit moved, barely affected by the water. Megumi gritted his teeth and tried to have Max Elephant stomp on it as his frogs held the cursed spirit in place.
You tried to manipulate the shadow of Max Elephant so that there would be more attacks being given to the cursed spirit. Your body was still weakened from the smash and your shoulder was bleeding. It hadn’t escaped Megumi’s view, he looked worried about your injuries.
The cursed spirit punched a hole in one of the walls, allowing for the water to escape. The sudden current had foiled Megumi’s plans to squash the cursed spirit as he was now being swept away. You were too. Megumi had to dispel his shikigamis just in case one of them hit him in the process of being swept away. You tried to swim your way out of it but the current was too strong. The cursed spirit remained unaffected and sent a kick towards Megumi, kicking him towards a wall as it did to you previously.
“Fushiguro!” You screamed in panic, your eyes switching from Megumi and the cursed spirit.
You forced yourself on your feet, while slowly questioning if the curse was indeed a grade 2. There was just no way. You managed to barely stand on your own legs before making a run for it, running behind the cursed spirit as it focused on attacking Megumi. You had to help him somehow… You saw how Megumi was struggling physically from being attacked over and over… The cursed spirit seemed to view Ten Shadows as a bigger threat than your shadow manipulation.
Megumi looked like he was at his limit with his strength as he stood, “With this treasure… I–”
“Domain Expansion – Phantom illusion!” You announced, not realising that Megumi was in the process of summoning one of his shikigamis.
Your domain was much less underdeveloped than Megumi’s, so using it was a huge gamble. The shadows around began to come together, you still have a long way to go before mastering the guaranteed kill aspect of it. For now, all you could manage was blending, morphing the shadows however you liked. Now, you just wanted to make all of the shadows large enough to take on the cursed spirit. This had to end as soon as possible, you were worried that Megumi would be unable to handle it any longer. The cursed spirit seemed stunned at the sudden domain as Megumi watched on, preparing to summon his own domain in case yours collapsed, you could see the concerned look on Megumi’s face. He knew your domain was a lot underdeveloped and using it at your current state could just drain your body. You knew that using your domain had risks, but right now, you simply don’t care. The giant and buff shadows you had combined and morphed from Megumi’s shikigamis began to attack the cursed spirit, giving it no chance to return any attack. At last, it was finally losing a fight. The cursed spirit was finally weakened and brought to the ground, as you deliver a final punch, filled with as much cursed energy as you could muster up. The cursed spirit could only let out a screech before dissolving into dust, disappearing from sight. Your domain was also gone.
Your breaths became even more irregular, unable to relax. Your knees gave in as you heard Megumi screaming your name. “Y/n?! Damn it…” The panic in his voice was something that could be easily missed if it was not for the fact that you had always paid more attention to the things Megumi said to you.
You and Megumi barely managed to leave, both too weakened by the fight to move like a proper human. You and Megumi could only hold on to each other for support, but the both of you having the equal amount of strength and being on the verge of collapsing was not a good sign. Mr Ijichi stared at the state of both you and Megumi, confused and worried. He had not expected that the both of you would seem so worn out by a fight against a grade 2. You were not even sure if it was a real grade 2 at this point. It still got exorcised before the deaths of you and Megumi anyway.
“I’ll send the both of you to Ieiri right now!” Said Mr Ijichi as he quickly ushered the both of you into the car that drove the both of you to this hell of a mission.
You leaned against the comfort of the seat, glad that the mission was finally over. You clutched your bleeding arm, finally allowing the pain to show on your face. Perhaps it was the domain expansion weakening you to the point where your body just does not seem to be able to handle it. Megumi watched in worry, seeing how your eyes remained closed and your breathing sounded pained.
“How much longer?” Megumi asked, doing his best to mask the worry that coated itself in every word he said.
Mr Ijichi took a while to respond, but his answer was not one you had liked to hear. “It might take a while. Ieiri is busy at the moment, she’s trying to rush over.”
You could hear a sigh coming from Megumi as he tried to rest. “Fushiguro, you alright?” You decided to ask despite feeling like you could just collapse any moment.
“Y/n, I am fine, go and take some rest,” he replied, his voice suddenly sounding softer than usual. Perhaps he was tired as well. Maybe he needed the rest he was telling you about.
You could only muster up a smile before telling him to rest as well, seeing as the both of you had really needed it. It seemed to humour you that Megumi was telling you to rest when he needed it as well.
It took a while to arrive at your new destination, Mr Ijichi slowly guided the both of you into the place where Ms Ieiri worked. She was still nowhere to be seen, meaning that she had to be living quite the distance away. Mr Ijichi led the both of you into a room filled with medical equipment and a few tables in which you assumed were for dead bodies. After that, he quietly closed the door behind him as he took a long, and important call outside.
Your arm was still bleeding out, you noticed some of Megumi’s wounds bleeding out as well. You had no idea when Ms Ieiri was going to arrive to use her reversed cursed technique. You had no idea if you could hang on with your shoulder any longer. Your eyes darted about and landed on a box of first aid.
“Do you need it?” Megumi asked, noticing your sight landing on the red box that remained in the cabinet high up. “I… think I can reach it.”
You nodded, signalling for him to retrieve the box. It was high, but for a boy his height, it was no issue. He could retrieve it with ease. You could try and retrieve it if it was not for the fact that your shoulder was too much of an issue to reach for something high up. “Thanks Fushiguro,” you sent him a small smile as you tried to take the box from him when he was walking back.
“I don’t think you can fix your shoulder like this,” said Megumi, sitting down beside you. He motioned for you to turn and face him as he opened up the first aid kit.
“Seriously Fushiguro, i can handle this,” You replied, reaching your hand towards the box. Megumi blocked your hands as his eyes looked up, before his whole face turned to look at you. “Let me do it Y/n,” he requested. Though it did not sound like you had any choice.
“Fine,” you had no choice but to give in to Megumi.
His hands gently gripped onto your arm, trying to examine the severity of your injury. “Do you mind if I… rip your sleeves?” Megumi asked, looking at your sleeve, which was already slightly ripped. You nodded, it was already ripped anyway, what was the harm in a bigger rip?
The sound of your sleeve being torn apart was the only sound that filled the room. Silence was exchanged between you and Megumi, neither of you being interested in breaking the silence. His gentle, yet firm grip was the only thing you could feel on your skin. The way his fingers glided smoothly… Megumi slowly wiped the dry blood from your shoulders as you could only watch him do his work. You could feel every movement made by the cotton as the dried blood was slowly leaving the surface of your skin. You could feel your heart thumping against your chest. Every beat was made clear to you, the sound loud and vibrant. You could only look away from Megumi as you began to feel the heat rising in your cheeks.
“Y/n, why?” Megumi suddenly asked, his eyes shifting away from your wounded shoulders to meet your avoiding eyes.
The question came out of nowhere and you finally turned to face Megumi and his question. “Why what?”
He took in a deep breath, his calm demeanour almost causing you to overthink the situation. Your mind began to run through various scenarios of potential words that could spill out of Megumi’s mouth, each more ridiculous than the last. You almost cracked up a smile in front of him.
“Why did you use your domain?” He finally asked, “You knew it was a huge gamble.”   You shrugged with your good shoulder, “It still worked right? We’re still alive.” You just hoped that it was a good enough answer to drive Megumi’s curiosity away for the time being.
“Your injury looks way worse than it should be,” Megumi explained. “You knew the risks, yet you still did it.”   You sighed before answering, “What other choice did we have?”
Megumi shot you a disappointed look before continuing his interrogation, “I could use mine.”
“You didn’t look like you were going to,” You explained. “Didn’t you look like you were going to summon a shikigami?”
Megumi stayed silent as you spoke, not knowing how to answer. He looked away, eyes returning to the first aid kit. “That's different. It was better than summoning your domain. Look at the state you are in now!” The panic in his voice was slowly beginning to show itself. It was different from his usual calm demeanour.
“Fushiguro,” You began. “Are you worried for me now?”
He did not turn to face you, instead, he took out the medication he was looking for and poured the necessary amount onto the cotton. “You ready?” He asked. “This will hurt. I don’t know when Ms Ieiri will arrive so this will have to do for now.”
“You didn’t answer my question,” You answered. “Come on Fushiguro.”
Megumi remained silent as he applied the medication on your wound. You could only wince in pain as your question went ignored. The stinging feeling only remained as your curiosity lingered in the air. The only sounds were of you wincing at the pain, while Megumi silently attended to you. No more words of value were exchanged after that. You could still feel his gentle grip on your arm as he patiently tended to your wound. Your mind wondered about, thinking about Megumi’s potential answer to your question. Your gaze remained on Megumi, his focused face, tending to you. It didn’t seem like Ms Ieiri was going to arrive anytime soon.
“Megumi…” you muttered, not realising that you had just called him by his name.
He turned his head around to face you, hearing what you had just called him. He was both surprised and confused. His hands paused mid action, his entire focus had just been shifted. You did not even realise what you had just done. Your gaze still remained fixed on him, while his gaze too, was transfixed on you. The effect that a name could cause…
“What's wrong?” You asked, still not realising what you did.
Megumi turned away, ignoring the events that had just transpired, “I thought I heard something…”
“You still haven’t answered my question. Are you really worried for me? When I casted my domain?” You asked, leading to Megumi once again stopping mid action just to look up at you.
“Why do you want to know?” He asked.
It was your turn to remain silent now, scrambling about in your brain to figure out a proper answer. You wondered why, why did you want to know. Was the simple reason of just wanting to know enough? You wonder…
“Well I know what I am doing. It worked out fine,” You replied. “I just don’t get why you’re so worried.”
Megumi’s face seemed to contort into dismay when he heard your answer. It seemed as though your recklessness with your actions shocked him over and over. “You knew the risks, and you took it. It could have gone horribly wrong! You could’ve asked for me to use mine…” He tried to keep the usual cool in his voice, but anyone could just tell that something was off with him.
“Fushiguro…” You muttered. “I am fine.”
Neither of you had seemed to realise that Megumi still had his grip on your arm, the soft feeling of the skin to skin contact remained lost in the tension that was filling the scene. Megumi does not seem to back down, and you have no idea how to retaliate and stand your ground.
“What if you died? What will happen? What will I do then?!” Megumi shot out. It was a rare moment to see someone like him break his demeanour. His usual calm demeanour was rarely ever broken. “I can’t afford to see someone like you die…”   “Someone… like me?” You repeated his words. “What… does that… mean?”   Megumi turned away once again, his grip finally loosening on your arm. He took a deep breath before finally answering your question. “You… are a nice person,” he said, his gaze failing to meet yours, leading to you wondering just exactly what that had meant.
“Fushiguro, look at me,” You demanded. When he still refused, you lifted his chin up to face you. “I said look at me, Fushiguro Megumi. There's more to what you said, isn't there?” You asked.
“No,” Megumi replied, “It’s as simple as that.”
The both of you knew that the answer was not true. There was more to it than Megumi was letting on.
“I know you did not use your domain just because it was a last resort,” Megumi began. “Because if that was the case, you would have used it against finger curses when we encountered them for the first time.”   You sighed, “Why are we arguing about this?” You asked.
“You need answers and I need mine too,” Megumi answered, his tone returning to his usual casual tone.
“Why do you need them so bad?” You asked, your tone was beginning to slowly sound inpatient as the conversation went on.
“The same reason why you want to know?” Megumi replied, still trying to keep his calm demeanour.
“It's because I like you idiot!”   Silence.
  Even more silence…
The sudden eerie wave of silence that just washed over was dreadful. Megumi stared at you with a blank, yet surprised expression. He was not expecting the sudden confession out of nowhere. It had caught him completely off guard as he tried to find a way to respond to that.
All you wanted to do was to just crawl into a hole and never see the light of the day again. It was all you ever wanted at this very moment. It was embarrassing, why did you say that? Why did you say it without even thinking? You were such an idiot. Now that Megumi knew… what was going to happen?
While drowning in your sea of embarrassment, you did not seem to realise that the distance between both you and Megumi had been decreased. Courtesy of Megumi himself. Your noses were already touching when you realised, his hands glazed your cheeks in a swift second, bringing you into a quick kiss the next, before quickly ending it and pulling himself away. It was a mere second, yet the soft and tender lips on yours almost felt like an eternity. Did… Fushiguro Megumi just… kiss you? There was no way.
You turned to look at Megumi, who was shying away from his actions previously. He had no idea why he even did that, but he did and there was no turning back now. He had just shown you his answer to your confession. What does this mean now?   “Megumi?” You gently tapped on his shoulder.
He turned around slowly, his face as pink as ever. Before Megumi could even realise anything, you leaned in for another kiss, holding his face. Your eyes remained closed, savouring every second that you had. You could feel Megumi’s hands slowly going up your arm and into your hands, slowly becoming intertwined. You did not know how long it took you to pull away, you did not want to pull away at all. All you wanted was just to stay right here, with him.
“Y/n…” Megumi began. Now it was your turn to have your cheeks flushed with heat and embarrassment. You could only break the gaze that the both of you shared mere moments before.
“Well…” You added. “So we feel the same way about each other huh.”
The sound of the door sliding sent the both of you into shock as Ms Ieiri stepped in. “Feel the same way about what?” She asked. You and Megumi exchanged a look before you answered that it was nothing, though a part of you had the feeling that Ms Ieiri Shoko knew just what had happened.

I already drew some ideas for it a while back but I'm finally gonna properly start working on it. if you don't see a lain animatic from me by the end of summer, you have full permission to yell at me to get back to work. thanks for reading. ily all.
