you know what? I think apology tour is actually my favorite episode of helluva boss so far.

Yes, I cried, and yes, I want my babies to be together. But I think this episode was actually a turning point- blitz is trying to get better.

And when they were talking on the couch.. blitz holding stolas in his arms, their casual banter, stolas looking at blitz to make sure it was okay for him to dance with that other guy, and blitz's little wave of approval. They fit so well together even when they're fighting.

I love this episode because it's realistic. Sometimes people need time apart to be able to make it work, and sometimes things are complicated and sad, not fluffy little gays all the time. How stolas is so lonely and just wants to be loved, blitz doesn't believe he CAN be loved, and they're both so broken yet perfect for each other. I do think that they need time apart so they can both grow and just have time to think about their relationship. Blitz is already showing signs of acknowledging his issues and wanting to change, which is good.

And it's interesting to see myself in both of them, and I know lots of other people do as well. It's nice seeing that maybe we can change, too.

This is the most invested I've been in their relationship, I think ever.

I've been working on this for so long, and I'm so excited to share it with you.

Synopsis:

As he adjusts to his post-Sinsmas life, Stolas is enjoying getting closer to Blitzø and developing his new writing hobby. But every time he tries to write a sex scene, he finds himself paralyzed.

'What if,' he thinks, 'the key to getting unstuck as a writer is getting unstuck with you, dearest?'

I haven't found a very articulate way of putting any of this, so bear with me if it seems chaotic. Much of what I'm about to talk about is very canon/in alignment with what we know and come to learn about Stolas, especially with The Full Moon & Apology Tour, but I am also going into length because of the relevance this all has with my portrayal at times. Apologies if you choose to read this and find it an absolute fucking MESS because I will do a lot of jumping and back-tracking.

This post also acts as a sort of "Do not ask me who I blame, I will point both fingers at Stolas and Blitz respectively. It takes two to Tango." Neither of them is exempt from the hurtful things they said and did. I said what I said.

I mentioned a while back and in my rules that this blog would include an exploration of emotional themes, including depression and anxiety. And yes, I will discuss and explore the abuse from Stella on occasion too. That being said, I want to take a minute and just let it really sink in that the Stolas we first come to know is such an actor, a (sometimes unwilling) participant in his very own play (life). He thrives in the theatrics he puts on and the telenovelas he watches because they are how he processes and copes.

Is Stolas a hypersexual innuendo slinging, touch-starved, love-bombing, thespian bird-nerd? Absolutely. That's who he is to the very heart and core (and more, but that isn't the point here). But I also think these elements are what he puts forward as a sort of armor. He makes sweeping motions and behaves a certain way to appear perfectly well kept and a little obnoxious. If it looks intentional, no one can/will know the truth. And that truth is that he is hurting. He is falling apart. Has been for some time, and especially is after The Full Moon & Apology Tour episodes. The truth is: he is either not enough, or is always far too much.

Now, reiterating that Stolas has A LOT to unpack, unlearn, and understand about his own actions and internalized conceptions. He has done a great deal of harm to Blitz and likely countless others, even if he didn't realize it at the time.

But in The Full Moon during WHEN I SEE HIM, Stolas literally mentions how nervous he is and that anything else is literally a disguise.

"I'll believe him and not the voice that says I'm not enough."

He actively begins to panic upon the realization that his medication is out. Stolas climbs into the refrigerator and says "I'll fucking die alone if this goes bad when I see him tonight."

To take this a step further, Stolas even equates himself to a monster with the line "Would he want me if he was free? And if he's only here as a prisoner, what kind of monster does that make me?"

He comes to terms with the fact that what they had going on was wrong, that he took advantage of a situation, of Blitz. And while Stolas harbored feelings for him for quite some time, it's obvious he never truly committed to the idea or possibility of a genuine relationship with him until much later (arguably, maybe, after the embarrassment for them both at Ozzie's).

So now we are witnessing Stolas unraveling. We are seeing him more thoroughly, for who he truly is, and the negative and flawed qualities he bears.

Feelings of inadequacy / insecurity

Anxiety

Impulsivity

Perfectionism

Selfishness

At a young age, we see a very eager-to-please and curious Stolas. He's excitable and even appears quite happy! But the crushing weight of his status and position quickly fell down fast when he was shown a picture of a young Stella, and told he would be marrying her. Basically, his entire life was lined up with purpose and expectations for him. Despite that, he still grew to be quite a character and I like to think he still catered to his individuality in some ways. This also supports his impulsivity, as a means to give some semblance of control back to himself. He very much acts in the moment and before fully fully analyzing anything, which brings us to The Full Moon, in which he's had time to realize and ruminate, and is now in a sort of distress about it all coming forward.

Now, I personally headcanon that even before Stella and Stolas started spending more time together that he already dealt with blows to his self-esteem and image. He was respected by name and rank alone, but not entirely liked. He also received quite a bit of open criticism and ridicule for his interests and mannerisms. Thus, he is far more comfortable in the seclusion of his home, surrounded by books and artifacts than the shimmering aristocracy of parties. There were times, however, where he could make a flourishing fool of himself in their favor, or charm people into small bursts of engagement, but he wore himself out quite quickly, and would have to find a way to retreat. Once Stella came into the picture, it was much easier to find these events loathsome in their entirety as he endured open harassment and personal jabs at even the most private of matters from her.

There were times during his childhood, their engagement, and their marriage in which Stolas dealt with the pressing weight of inadequacy. These feelings took the forefront as he assumed he simply wasn't enough of a partner, enough of a Goetia, enough of an astronomer, enough of a son, enough of anything, really. Nothing he ever did pleased her, and he was never quite sure where he fell in line with his father. So as time went on, he just cautiously assumed that he couldn't possibly live up to anyone's standards, regardless of their position in his life. It's true, he thinks highly of himself and of his abilities, but none of that is structurally sound where it matters most.

Stolas is selfish. This falls in line with the impulsivity, naturally, but he is absolutely selfish. He is always seeking attention, especially from Blitz and is inconsiderate of his boundaries in the beginning. This is especially present in just how often he seeks Blitz out, his continued sexual ramblings over the phone in the first episode, and the list goes on. I do not think his selfishness is done with malice, but it's no excuse, either. The initial transactional exchange between them is also not just selfish, but manipulative. And he comes to realize this! It's phenomenal development!

But it's still a fatal flaw, and as Stolas becomes more aware of himself and his own negative traits, it creates a sort of spiral. Returning us back to the center of it all with his feelings of inadequacy. Because of all of these flaws, because of everything he has said or done, even in taking that leap by freeing Blitz of that exchange and expressing his love for him, Stolas still doesn't believe himself worthy of Blitz's love, or anyone else's for that matter.

You know what I'm just ending this whole thing here coz I feel like I'm gonna go on a huge tangent and I'm not making any sense. I'll explain things in headcanons and asks if anyone's ever curious or when I wanna explore those moods. Lmao

Please note that I feel these events happen prior to Blitz reentering the picture and are meant to depict the life Stolas is attempting to escape from by filing for divorce within the series.

Stolas began SH by pulling out his feathers a year into his marriage with Stella. It was unintentional at first, a habit he developed during anxiety attacks or during bouts of deep depression.

After finding out about the SH, Stella not only began teasing him for the bald patches he ended up giving himself, but also began grabbing fistfuls of his feathers and tearing them out in anger or dragging him around by his feathers until they began to fall out due to the harsh weight of him being dragged by them. This began the physical aspect of the abuse.

Between his wife shaming him for his patchy feathers and her criticizing his body and performance in bed, Stolas began to develop extreme body image issues that led him further into depression.

Since he was young, Stolas had vision issues that led to debilitating headaches and nausea as a result of both sets of eyes having trouble focusing on a single thing at a time. Stella once joked about cutting out his second set of eyes while he slept to get him to stop whining about it. He never brought up not feeling well in any way after that.

After having Octavia, Stolas believed his wife would become softer and more motherly. While she never really intentionally hurt their daughter, Stolas rarely left the girl alone with her mother in fear of the rage he'd experienced reflecting onto the child.

Stella kept Via away from her father for weeks following an accident that involved a rather large plant Stolas tended falling on her after missing Stolas when it was thrown across the room. After being told it was his fault repeatedly, Stolas began to think it truly was.

Stella destroyed most of the plants in the garden before allowing Via to see her father again.

Stolas attempted to unalive himself on more than one occasion, failing each time and having his wife tell him it was because he was just too pathetic to do anything right.

After finding the journal Stolas kept and learning that he was wrestling with his sexuality, Stella took it upon herself to assault her husband, telling him that he was too pathetic for anyone to want, let alone a man.

Stolas never told anyone about the incident, but that was when the couple began sleeping, not only in separate rooms, but on opposite sides of the house. Despite checking the locks on his bedroom door religiously before settling into bed for the night, he still wakes up panicked when he thinks he hears something outside his door or when he hears Stella cackle from somewhere deeper in the house.

Despite the physical and psychological torture he's endured, Stolas does his best to be a good husband and father... Though Via loves her father, nothing he does seems to be good enough for Stella.

After reconnecting with Blitz and starting therapy, Stolas slowly comes to terms with who he is and what that means for his marriage. While it takes a while for him to be able to say the words and genuinely mean them with no fear of being bullied back out of his words, Stolas asks for a divorce.'

Besides trembling and reeling from weight of what he's done, When Stella storms off, for once in a very, very long time, the owlish man feels almost peaceful.

Day 7 and Huskerdust Week 2025 is officially over!!

This was the first ship week I actively participated in and managed to get a drawing out every day, so I'm pretty proud of it! Especially this last pic, it came out looking real cool haha! And I finally did my obligatory Loser Baby fanart as a huskerdust fan!

honestly this episode was pretty solid. i really liked the song, i'm so glad to get a more broadway-style song after all the pop that we've been getting in recent times. i was also happy to see the dhorks and cherubs come back (fucking finally) also i'm happy that stolas clearly communicated his feelings, i was afraid he wouldnt say the "i want you to stay" part, but thankfully he did. good for him. um that said i'm seeing everyone going crazy over the "i didn't realize you thought so lowly of me" line and i'm just kinda sitting over here like <:) because like....... blitz was not wrong??? his perception is very much founded in reality, stolas has been consistently condescending towards him and the other imps. im pretty sure stolas is meant to be getting better in that area, but he hasn't really shown that to blitz so um. yeah. overall to nobody's surprise stolitz continues to be a trainwreck, but i'm tentatively happy to finally see some changes to the status quo, and my opinion of stolitz went from "UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" to "ok i'm kinda invested" so, hooray? still not back to the amount of investment i had before season 2, but it's something (also, i find it hilarious how fans immediately started taking sides. this is really just gomens s2 finale all over again)

I thought you already learnt in literacy class that depiction does NOT equal endorsement. Not all pieces of media have to be "unproblematic", safe, squeaky-clean morality plays with spelt-out lessons at the end. You want the Hays Code to come back? That's how you get the Hays Code back.

If you want the Hays Code to silence creators you personally hate like Viv and ND Stevenson, just know that it will end up targeting all the other creators you care about like Dana Terrace and others. You cannot call yourself a leftist and support censorship as the act of censoring is completely antithetical to progressivism.

So ever since I got this ask I've been thinking of a certain other post.

The basic gist of this defense is that critics only dislike Stolitz because it's "problematic", and that we "dont understand that this is a show exploring the messiness of it's characters".

I'm just gonna call this for what it is. Strawmaning. Blantant strawmaning. It's amazing how the post I made in december of 2023 about how the fandom doesn't understand people's issues the show has aged like fine wine.

The problem people have with Helluva Boss is not that it has problematic elements in it. The problem is that the series has probelmatic elements in it and refuses to address them.

Stolitz was coercion/rape, and Stolas was consistantly throughout the first season belittling Blitz and calling treating him like a sex toy even when Blitz made it clear to him that he was uncomfortable with it. And yet, the show ignores that and paints Blitz as in the wrong for getting mad at Stolas for this.

You can't parade your show around exploring the messiness of it's characters while not touching upoun the full extent of the characters' actions, instead either downplaying or ignoring them entirely.

As I've said before, fans defending Stolas with "you can't handle flawed characters" is extremely funny because Stolas' flaws are ignored or downplayed by the narrative in favour of making him sympathetic.

Look as much as I love m&m and fizzmodeous I don't think that they should be exempt from having struggles in their relationships that last more than one episode.

I personally don't like that m&m and fizzmodeous are put on a pedestal compared to stolitz. I think that them having multiple episode struggles would be good for the show for to have the extra drama will for sure draw in more views and fans but more importantly it will show that even "perfect" relationships require work from both sides.

I think millies pregnancy and what it means for her relationship and ozzies inability or less likely unwillingness to help fizzs closest friend could both nessacry struggles for the perfect couples to go through.

Like this could help fizz and Ozzie reconcile with the nature of their privileged postions and acknowledging the oppressive system they find themselves at the top of and ultimately coming out as a healthier couple for it.

Or maybe the potential baby could help m&m actually look at the flaws in their relationship like moxxies emotional needyness (which has been getting better as his confidence has grown) and millie learning she shouldn't have to sacrifice her own mental well-being for others all the time and trying to do so will only result in her blowing up at the people she's trying to help.

All I'm saying is stolitz shouldn't be the only ship in this show that has to go through multiple episode struggles.

Hell I've mentioned it before but I think it would be really cool if stolitz actually helped m&m with their first spat.

Blitz talks with millie and stolas with moxxie as they explain if they can have a semi healthy relationship even after all that's happened then a couple as lovely dovey as m&m will be just fine. Blitz comforts millie reassuring her that no matter what happens both he and moxxie will always welcome her and respect her descion regarding the child while stolas shares his experience with wives with moxxie showing that he should count himself lucky millie Is nothing like stella and loves him dearly and as such he shouldn't take her for granted and make her his emotional rock 24/7.

Despite having mixed feelings on Alastor, I think these two are just so cute. Either as a couple or just queer platonic partners, I don't care. Rosie seems to be the only person to make Alastor genuinely smile, and she's the only one who can touch him. There's a special bond there I really like

8) Verosika Mayday x Wally Wackford

So this is the biggest crack ship on this list, but I think in theory, it's so cute. I really want Verosika to be happy, and Wally, despite being a bit of a scammer, is really sweet. I'm totally cool with Verosika ending up with Barbie as well, but I slightly prefer Wally. I wonder if they will have more interactions in future episodes.

7) Fizzmodeus

Is this controversial? Probably. I know Fizzarolli and Asmodeus are so loved in this fandom, so putting them at number 7 is awful...but they aren't my favorite. I do like them, and I think they're really cute! I just have ships I like more, but that doesn't take away how sweet these two can be. Sometimes obnoxiously sweet heh. So yeah, no disrespect to these two

6) M&M

So these two were at first kinda meh for me, but over time, I've grown to love them. They have a pretty healthy relationship, and I always hate when someone bothers Millie for marrying Moxxie or saying Moxxie isn't a good enough husband. These two clearly love and respect each other and clearly grow together with every episode.

5) Staticmoth

Like I said, I love an evil couple. Valentino is a monster, and Vox is deplorable. That doesn't stop me from loving them as a couple and thinking they are cute. I think they both should die, but also would be sad cause come on, they're cute together.

4) Cherrisnake

I love Sir Pentious, I love Cherri Bomb, so obviously, them together is a fun pair. I shipped these two before the show came out and was so excited to see Pen having a crush on Cherri. They kinda remind me of the early versions of M&M, but they need a lot more time. Cherri isn't ready to accept love, and Sir Pentious is well...in a different world. I can't wait to see these two develop and become an actual couple.

3) Adamsapple

So this and Lucilith could be here. Lucifer being happy is the main objective, and its Adamsapple is so fun. They clearly have a history, and there's a lot of feelings. If Adam comes back in season 2, I'd love to see this be fleshed out. I doubt they'd be a couple, but maybe friends? Who knows. I'm fine with this one not being canon, and just something fun in the fandom

2) Stolitz

Stoltiz is pretty important to me because it really got me involved in the fandom. I've been watching Helluva Boss since the beginning, but episode one of season two had me from casual watcher to actual fan. Blitzø is one of the characters I really relate to, and Stolas is just a really well written character. I love the development of these two and they are worth waiting for. I really gotta draw some fanart of them because they are everything

1) Huskerdust

Are you surprised? You must be new. These two are my everything and all time otp in the Hellaverse. I've talked so much about why I love them, and I will continue to do so until I can't any longer. Angel and Husk are not only my favorite characters individually, but their growing friendship and eventual relationship are just so ughhhh. I love these losers, and they will always be number one.

Chaggie is an opposites attract situation, a grumpy one x sunshine one kind of pairing and while this is a pretty good dynamic for a relationship to have, Charlie and Vaggie don't really... click as much as it should? If that makes any sense? Because they just rely on the whole staring in love, be together a lot and the established relationship in executing it. We're not even given the chance to see how their strengths cover each other's weaknesses the way opposites attract should work. We're just told they're super in love when we're just given the narrative equivalent of bland soup. In addition, what do they even have in common again? What are the things they like to do together outside of hotel duties and generic dates? For a canon ship, I'm not hearing a peep about what non-work related activities they enjoy doing, only fan headcanons.

You had me with that first line Nonny. Not even gonna lie. (Also thank you for this patience the adjustment for daylight savings has been kicking my ass). But no, I will keep reiterating this point; the moment Charlie and vaggie lost all singular character merch and were being solely sold as part of a set I knew it was going to be bad. Even moxxie and Millie, who are also often sold as a part of a set, have their individual merch you can still buy. Fizz and Ozzie, have separate merch you can buy. Bee isn't constantly pictured as being with Tex. You starting to see my point here?

You should not need constant visual reminders of two characters being together in romantic/cutesy depictions to know they're a couple. Fucking hell even STOLITZ isn't pushed onto fans in merch as much as chaggie is. And for as much as people complain about helluva boss focusing too much on that relationship, at least we know individual things about both characters. You might not ship them but you know enough about them to figure out what they do as a couple.

Charlie and vaggie? What could they possibly have in common outside the hotel? Food? Maybe they like the same food? Then again Charlie strikes me as a need for sugar girl while vaggie likely adheres to her Latina roots with the spicier the better which, I'm sorry Charlie's not going to touch that. The girl likes pineapple on her pizza she's a sweet girl not a spicy girl (as far as preferred flavors go we all know she's the spicy one in the bedroom). Vaggie doesn't like to sing as openly as Charlie does. Probably doesn't like dancing. Vaggie's idea of building trust is through combat while Charlie abhors using violence unless absolutely necessary. Charlie might struggle with her self confidence but it's canon that Vaggie actively hates herself and takes it out on everyone else.

I feel like people get so caught up in the Huskerdust stuff from masquerade they forget that's a canon part of vaggie's character. She hates herself, so why is she in a relationship? A relationship cannot make you like yourself anymore than you already do. So guess what? If you hate yourself and get into a relationship? You're still gonna hate yourself, possibly more than you did before. Vaggie really needs some therapy and time for self-healing. And Charlie, for all she means well, fundamentally doesn't understand the human struggle. It's why her ideas for rehabilitation tend to fall flat since she's approaching self-improvement from a completely different cultural standpoint.

And I don't even have to explain all of Charlie and Al's similarities. The whole point of them is they're dark reflections to one another. They're SUPPOSED to be similar, but only just enough. Again, pineapple on pizza. Until Viv attempts to retcon that people can pry it from my cold undead hands. Viv also did the drawing of Alastor and Charlie having a shared sense of humor similar to lonely island's Mona Lisa song. They like to sing, and dance, they probably share good food and a love of performance which means they'd definitely go see some type of show if they went on a date. Charlastor dates practically write themselves meanwhile I can't think of a single thing Charlie and vaggie would do on a date other than discuss plans for the hotel.
