dear lesboy (and tbh any other nuanced identity) exclusionists who think your vein of thought is the majority in queer spaces id like to inform you that today at lunch with my (entirely queer) friend group the topic drifted to me being a butch lesbian and one friend goes "wait i thought you were a guy?" and i said "i am" and another friend interjected "dudes can be lesbians too" and that was that. no further probing about my identity, nohing about how im "invalidating transmen and lesbians", or whatever. everyone just accepted that thats how i identify and i dont owe an explanation for it and moved on. i promise u its not that deep 👍

QUEER LABELS VALIDITY & REQUIREMENTS MASTERPOST
have you ever wondered "is it okay for me to call myself this label?" "can i identify as [this] if im also [that]?" "is this identity valid?" or various similar sentiments?
well look no further! this post is compiling a list of specifications for different identities along with why you can or cant use certain labels along with other ones, so youll be able to make an informed decision on choosing your labels! (and not call yourself something thats very problematic and harmful to other queers)
As if!
you can do whatever you want forever <3
you know yourself best, only you can decide what labels fit your own experiences and identity :)
other people can offer their perspectives from their own experiences if you want to hear them to try to figure out what you relate to, but no identity has a universal experience! no one can tell you that you cant identify as something!
no one, i repeat NO ONE, ordains the details of queer labels and who can or cant identify as what, or if a label can be used at all or not! not even if they are of the identity theyre trying to enforce rules on!
just because some rando may walk up to the gate of a public park and begin trying to control who can or cant enter doesnt mean its their property!
go, be free and queer, even with the most complex and weird and confusing labels! nothing can tie you down! (unless youre into that)
💖❤🧡💛💚💙💜

friendly reminder that “boydyke” has existed for a very very very very long time and transmen, genderqueers, trans women, transfemmes and transmascs have been a part of the lesbian community for as long as its been around and we ain’t going no where!

"But what if a cis man starts identifying as a lesbian ??? 🥺🥺"
Then good for him for finding out a label for his complex attraction. Idk what you thought I was gonna say in response to that.
Lesboys are boys who are lesbians. Straight up that's just the definition. That includes cis men.

bigender lesbian man culture is making a joke about your identity in a server and getting a longwinded transphobic dm about how youre ruining the "lgb community"
Yeahh .. God it pisses me off like how are you gonna attack a woman who loves a woman, who identifies as a lesbian and be like "nah that's pretty straight to me" like my guy how in the hell.

A new proposed lesbian flag! Made by morutefawnn on Twitter!
“based this heavily off the sunset flag, but felt like making it a wee bit more inclusive for people such as intersex and asexual lesbians :3” -Maker of the flag (morutefawnn)
Tumblr media
“Why did doll make a new lesbian flag?”
> To include more lesbians and people who identify as the lesbian label.
“What’s the flags name?”
> there is no proposed name. The creator suggested pastel sunset flag or soft sunset. I suggest grapefruit flag.
“What do the colours mean / What’s the hex codes ?”
#FE9E86 = independence, gender nonconformity
#F6C09C = butch lesbians, nonbinary lesbians
#FEE7BB = lesbian joy, intersex lesbians
#FFFFFF = everyones unique lesbian experience
#FFB2DE = love for those who arent exclusively men
#F091ED = femme and transfem lesbians
#CA69EB = masculine lesbians, ace/aro-spec lesbians

happy lesbian visibility week especially to lesbians whose identities are "controversial"— no one has the right to make your identity into a debate. i see you and i think you're so so awesome :)

At some point, you guys are just gonna have to accept and acknowledge that as more queer and trans people speak up and talk about their experiences, you'll find people you don't understand. You're gonna find people who will say something like "I'm spiderman gender and use web/webs/webself pronouns." You may not understand, you may even find it silly, but that doesn't mean you're allowed to degrade and dehumanize this person.
The human experience is so fucking complex and different for literally everyone that sometimes the words that exist in the way that we understand them are gonna look a little differently for someone else.
Mspec gays/lesbians, straight gays/lesbians, lesboys, and more I'm definitely missing are not your enemies. Seriously, you live on the same planet as Elon Musk, Andrew Tate, Donald Trump, Joanne Rowling, Isaac Herzog, and so many more assholes, I can guarantee you that the person who you only heard about online is not hurting anyone.
"But it doesn't make sense." Who the hell actually cares? Andrew Tate is a known sex trafficker who's telling millions of boys that the only value women provide are sex and chores and gay people don't deserve rights.
"But more people are talking about them than real gays/lesbians/bisexuals/etc." Name five times this has happened offline.

hey if your response to lesbian visibility week is to add on saying how much you hate "xyz" lesbians then you are a lesbophobe. plain and simple. you hate lesbians who don't meet your ideal criteria for what a "real lesbian" is (ever changing and impossible to meet if you actually care about pleasing strangers). and if you're a non-lesbian you should just not make a post at all if that's how you're gonna act. we're tired of this shit

Just wanted to say, I think I’m on the wrong side of tumblr. Why do some of y’all act like lesbians are drooling but forcing themselves not to sleep with men and male aligned people?
Lesbians are not into men, we are into: cis-women, trans-women, non-binary people, gender-fluid people, and labels similar
We are not into: men (trans and cis)
(Some lesbians have crushes on fictional men, but not real men. I’m not talking about them)
Guys, y’all don’t have to use labels, it’s ok not to. It’s ok to not know, or to feel like a label doesn’t exactly describe you. You can go by queer, but please stop using the term lesbian. You can create new terms and everything, but this was originally made for non-men to describe their attraction to non-men.
Some people feel comfortable with labels, not everybody wants to be outside of the label. I respect you guys who don’t go by labels, so please just respect people who do.
It’s completely okay to not have a label, or to create a new one. You can go by queer, and that’s okay.
I like having a box for me to relate to other people, you don’t have to if you don’t want to. Just please respect lesbians space.
It feels lesphobic to identify as a man and still call yourself a lesbian, or to date men in the present and do it? Not everybody is attracted to men, this is the label that represents that. Please respect us. Maybe a different term would fit for you, or again, you don’t have to use a term. Can y’all please just stop trying to include men in lesbianism? This is the whole point of being a lesbian. You’re not a lesbian if you’re not a non-man liking non-men. You’re either a straight guy or bi/pan or just generally queer.

“This community is cooked!” Yeah but its not because of lesboys and mspec lesbians its because of queer people who refuse to learn about others experiences and want to appeal to heteronormative ideas of gender and sexuality. Yall will go on and on about how gender is only a social construct but when a queer person dares to actually step out of that social construct you start tweaking and saying it doesn’t make sense and since you dont understand it you decide to outcast those people from your community and declare yourself ‘one of the good queers’ like those lgb without the t ppl on twitter. Its so frustrating. I dont care if you dont understand. Thats fine. Youll never fully understand unless youve experienced it. But when you start degrading and telling other queer people to off themselves because they have an identity you can’t comprehend, thats when im gonna start having a problem with you. This blog is a safe space for all queer people, regardless of whether your identity ’contridicts’ or not. You are loved ♥️
