it’s actually so wild to me that this fairly quirky YA type show gave both of its main characters deaths that can, in one way or another, solidly be considered hate crimes. they were both flat out murdered as a result of being A) gay and effeminate or B) brown (south asian, specifically) and you could argue whether or not those kids thought of it that way in the moment or whatever but the bottom line is that they would not have been in the situations that killed them if they weren’t of their respective minorities. like legitimately that is a ballsy choice for this kind of netflix show, let alone for the two Main Characters, and i respect it big time

#rambling #i think about this a lot #you could brush charles’ off as a hate crime by proxy since it was in response to him Stopping a hate crime #but that would be stupid. like you think what happened to him would’ve happened if he was white? doubtful #as a mixed person the way i see it is that in that moment- when he protected that pakistani kid- he went from being tolerated #by being/acting just white enough and with enough other jock traits to sort of fit in amongst them #to all at once proving to them that no- he is in fact The Other. he isn’t one of us he’s one of Them.#and as such what happened to him would’ve been a bonafide hate crime. even if they were to give an excuse like ‘he got in our way’ or ‘he #made a fool out of us’ or whatever else. even if those boys didn’t fully UNDERSTAND the racism in their own intentions/actions #it still would be. because that would not have happened to a white boy. period #anyway. genuinely fascinating choice they made with the way they presented his death- especially considering it was not #remotely similar in the comics. neither of them had the hate crime aspect going on really up til yockey’s narrative choices #so props to him. man’s got balls #dead boy detectives #charles rowland #edwin payne #edit: I will say that I don’t think the boys in edwin’s case technically murdered him nor would I call them murderers #because I can’t imagine a single one of them actually thought that ritual was gonna do anything more than make him piss himself #it was still hate-based bullying. like they still absolutely did what they did because he’s visibly effeminate and easily clickable #and all in all: gay. but when I say edwin was murdered I don’t really mean by those boys. #The Sapling Cage #aroaessidhe 2024 reads #I enjoyed this! it’s a pretty classic fantasy setting out into the world #+ group of teens save the kingdom from power hungry adults from both factions kind of story.#There’s some very cool creatures and monsters and I hope we see a lot more of that as the series continues!#I like how it takes quite a classic fantasy setting/narrative but puts some weird and interesting details in there #I liked her journey of questioning whether she actually wants to change her body #or whether that’s just out of fear/pressure and she’s a girl either way.#I thought the prose was okay. sometimes it felt like things were glossed over and a lot of the character and relationship #(all kinds) development is a bit telling not showing - I didn’t get a really solid sense of the friendships or developing crush she has.#the bullying subplots especially felt a little underdeveloped? they’re just suddenly cool with each other.#also the adult saying she didn’t step in because that would escalate things is an odd choice #…..checking now this is not actually marketed as YA. I think if I read this thinking it was an adult book I would be a bit harsher.#I read it with a YA mindset and imo the teen characters; coming of age themes; the straightforward worldbuilding/narrative #and writing all feel very YA (not a bad thing!)#Overall though I liked a lot! I’ll continue the series #it’s sapphic (possible developing relationship though who knows where that will go) and also there’s an aroace side character #sapphic books #trans books #demisexual books #aroace books

So Greg Bryk regularly goes live on Instagram to chat with his followers and answer a few questions, and almost every time, someone asks if he’d like to play Joseph Seed again if he had the chance, to which he used to always reply that, yes, he absolutely would. However, in early 2022, he didn’t seem so sure anymore and said it would depend on the script (the question was specifically about a potential Far Cry 5 movie) and the writer(s). Then, a few months later, he implied he didn’t feel like playing the Father ever again because he thought the character’s story was “finished” and that Ubisoft should focus on creating new things instead…

Well, on October 14, 2023, he once again went live on Instagram and, when people mentioned Far Cry 5 in the chat, he revealed that he had reached out to Dan Hay and Drew Holmes, two of the game’s three main writers he’s become friends with, and that they had visited him “on set” (I’m not sure what he was shooting) the day before. In the past, he had already explained several times that he had loved working with them and thought the story they wrote (along with “JS”, Jean-Sébastien Décant, the game’s third main writer) was fantastic. This time, he added that Far Cry 5 was really “special” to him because the writers “cared a lot” about creating something great with amazing characters, and that he thought the whole Seed family was really well-written.

A few minutes later, when he was asked which character he would like to play again if he could, he said it was hard for him to choose because he loves them all, but he eventually picked Jeremy Danvers (Bitten) and Cobbs Pond (Frontier).

Then, surprisingly, he also mentioned Joseph.

I don’t know why he changed his mind again or if the fact he contacted Dan Hay (who doesn’t work for Ubisoft anymore) and Drew Holmes (who recently became the new IP Director for Far Cry) means anything, and I’m not sure I want more Far Cry 5 content to be released anyway (for continuity reasons), but I guess the Seed family’s return, as equally exciting and truly terrifying as this eventuality sounds to me, isn’t completely out of the question anymore in Greg Bryk’s mind!

#someone also asked if the book of joseph was canon but as expected he had no idea #actors rarely know that stuff and I’m not even sure he got to read it...#but yeah the boys’ awful childhood is definitely canon the writers have talked about it several times #far cry 5 #joseph seed #greg bryk #okay but... listen #I wondered if I was just imagining things when he first mentioned collapse during a live stream and I thought he looked a bit upset #the dlc wasn’t out yet but I was pessimistic so I concluded my fear probably was the reason he seemed unenthusiastic/disappointed to me #then when he said he didn’t feel like playing joseph anymore I once again wondered if it was because of collapse (which was now out)#but I told myself I was most likely influenced by my own negative opinion and he simply wanted to focus on new projects #but... now he’s happily talking about the original writers and how much they 'cared' about making something good #and he seems really enthusiatic again about possibly reprising the role in the future #so is he implying that he thought the other writers (the dlc’s)... didn’t 'care'?#does he also think there were problems with the seeds’ characterization in collapse??#is it possible that I wasn’t just projecting after all???#????#...okay maybe I’m still projecting #but the timing is a bit suspicious isn’t it?

does anyone else find it kinda weird that SPOP just casually dropped in the fact that there’s a Prince who can see ANYWHERE in the world magically, aka the perfect spy, and Glimmer just… didn’t think of recruiting him?

Why wasn’t Peekablue already part of the Rebellion??? What is he using his powers for that’s soooo important? He could literally see all of the Horde’s plans and warn the Rebellion and give them a HUGE leg up on them, and he wasn’t even mentioned until S5.

I know he was a hermit almost never seen but are you telling me Glimmer wouldn’t even TRY to find him and convince him to join?That’s a mystery in itself; where IS Peekablue, and why does no one care? Is he literally missing? Because if he’s literally missing, maybe someone should help him.

#Spop #she ra #spop critical #peekablue was a plot device and nothing more— but a poorly conceived one #a glaringly obvious last-minute addition/excuse for them to add filler #and I’m //assuming// peekablue probably came up in the writers room sometime before S5 so they had time to work that in #I think they didn’t want to give the Rebellion such a big advantage but they were extremely lazy in their justification #For why they didn’t have Peekablue— ‘he’s a hermit he’s missing’ so fucking find him??#shouldn’t you be at least a little concerned if a magical prince vanishes?#at best he’s MIA at worst the Horde has him and is using him to spy on you. Which if that was a possibility— why not bring that up in S4?#that’s me giving them the benefit of the doubt. peekablue might not have come up in the writers room at all before the 5th season. 🤷🏻‍♀️#I mean Magicats didn’t and Catra was the main antagonist/love interest.#I think the SPOP writers— or maybe just ND— are just not very good at their jobs

just watched the borderlands movie and the only good part was that krieg’s little harness thingo lowkey looked like a very skimpy little bra thing sometimes

#xrdslog #um basically. made a bet they could convince me to kiss them and constantly hinted at it until it happened and then bragged about it a lot #then I told them I was aro #then we got a headmate that they had a crush on and started dating #and then used that to argue that I should date them bc it’s easier if it’s both of us #and then prioritized me over him #also: this headmate is one I have a father and son relationship with #so what the hell #also told me they fixated on people and they still loved me but they were fixated on their friend so couldn’t give me attention #their friend who they called their not-girlfriend. because that friend’s husband wasn’t comfortable with her being poly #and they still wanted to date her so they just called her that instead #gifted me an expensive adult toy and then took it and gave it to said not girlfriend #which. ok sure. but then why tell me it was a gift #demanded to talk to certain headmates and made a big fuss about knowing exactly who did what even though they were rarely correct #pushed me away whenever they were sad and then was upset I wasn’t comforting them #I baked banana bread once on a whim and then they constantly made me make it for them when I didn’t want to #NEEDED music playing at night and fans on them and they got upset if I didn’t want to sleep by them even though I couldn’t #‘pretended’ to choke me when I got a rare item in final fantasy before them #wanted to rp with me but demanded I start it because they were tired of starting rps with their friend. ok. not my fault ?#more than once tried to get me to sign a lease with them even though I had no money or job #got mad at me because my art was good? and they didn’t think theirs was or that they were creative?#did not ever compliment me without an insult attached for the last three years of our relationship #constantly tried to talk about sex or illegal things in front of my mom #constantly bragged about how they were going to become rich when their grandma died and hoped it happened soon #The Entire Trauma Part where they barely comforted me at all #oh also I spent basically sixteen hours a day in VC with them every day and they broke up with me for not spending enough time with them #even though I could not Possibly have spent More time with them #there is more than this. but this is off the top of my head. lol.

Usually if friends of mine are not feeling well or are sick I send them my best wishes and they get better in the next few days. (or they tell me their symptoms and I get inspired by it somehow lol)

But with Kazin, I found out she's had bloating and stomachaches for almost a year multiple times a month and hasn’t gotten any better. She didn't seem to know what was wrong with her.

So I did a full examination. (aka asking questions and taking a guess from my knowledge)

My final diagnosis: She has IBS-C

...and yet she probably still won't resist the urges to fill herself with caffeine and junkfood... xD
