↪extremely intrigued when he heard that one of them, you, held the title of a 'queen'. he didn't understand why but it was interesting nonetheless and was curious as to how one obtained such a title.

↪mainly you for the fact that you're goals simply didn't stop at 'ending wars', you had a much wider goal of 'ending humanity' as a whole - seeing them as only mere livestock. this reminded him of fyodor a tad but atleast he only went after ability users.

↪your natural pride and temperamental nature definitely gave you an advantage at reaching your goal. dazai also sought a great amount of amusement from hearing your confident talks even when in battle.

↪what was also rayher noticeable was how you took a more natural role of leader even when you really weren't meant to - whether or not the other members would assist your goals or not was still unclear.

↪surprisingly enjoyed listening to you ramble on about how humanity were mere livestock - it was either that, complete silence or listening to fukuchi. bram could see where you were coming from and he could definitely help you if he chose to.

↪im honesty, he thought you were a better leader than fukuchi. you always took on a more authoritive role and he preferred when you did so, even more when you'd shut down fukuchi.

↪your temperamental nature could be a bit much for him sometimes but he adjusted to it when you started talking to him more often.

And the way you get creative with their respective myths for their moves, it really does make them more “godly” cuz it doesn’t restrict them to one ability. Not to mention, of all solutions, i really didn’t expect you to go down the vampire percy route, that surprised me sm (and then it transitioned to percy getting dicked down and now my awe turned into 👁️👄👁️ ). And before that we got demeter’s and zag’s extremely brutal deaths but i just didnt have the time to grieve with all the things youre throwing at our girl 😭😭 daddyseidon is so unhinged and its only act TWO of four 😭

I've come to realize something important in writing. (specifically in my personal experience)

(TLDR; I have ADHD and writing is hard even though I'm still doing it every single day. Make it make sense.)

If you have a story in your head that means a lot to you, and you need to take more time to develop and fully flesh it out before posting it, that's totally okay! In fact, in my experience, it has the potential to make the story better over time, really forming it into what you imagine it to be.

Here's an example because I just typed a lot of words and right now I can't seem to process whether they make sense or not.

I have a fanfic that I've been working on for a year now. (For the Marauders fandom if y'all are curious)

It's one that I haven't talked about much because every time I do, I end up losing the motivation to write. This is what happened to another one of my fics for the Haikyuu fandom. (well that and the Marauders.. yeah they fucked me up in the best way and Freckles and Constellations has really suffered because of it smh)

So the reason why this fic is taking so long is because it is such a specific AU that I'm out here trying to meld magic systems, and I've got like EIGHT MAIN CHARACTERS to write backstories for to fit this AU while also being true to them and even though I know the basic plot, there are just so many little details and aspects that will make this fic what I desperately need it to be.

And no one knows just how intricate it is or how important it is to me. Which is totally fine. I don't even know if people are going to read it when I finally manage to post it. This fic is purely self-indulgent.

let me just break down for you what I have prepared for this already:

countless drabbles and scenes and plans written on the backs of receipts and on bits of scrap paper

a 3" 3-ring binder that I've been trying to organize it all in

a google doc titled "TAoRfOL Doc Masterlist" that has links to every single doc I have for this one fic. (it's dated back to March of last year and as of this month has 93 total links. Only 5 of those are reference links.)

notes and ideas i have written in my phone to transfer into docs so I can add them to the masterlist

Hero Forge digital models of those 8 main characters because I wanted to see what their group would look like outside of my imagination

Multiple Spotify playlists dedicated to this fic and the characters which I listen to every single day. (currently @ 494 songs)

And you know what? I just recently, at 6 am this morning, finally figured out the solution to a fucking plot hole I could not work around.

Basically what I'm saying is that I needed all of this time. Every single day I see things and get inspiration. Every day I learn new things and fix errors in my own plans.

As much as I crave the validation and recognition for all of my hard work on this project, I know that If I had just bit the bullet and posted the first chapter without having done all of this research and all of this planning, then it would not have lived up to the story I have in my head.

I admire people who can just write without all of the added steps and in some cases, I can do that. I haven't been able to in a while (which is why that Valentine's Day microfic was actually really big for me to have posted) but that's just how my brain works.

I needed all of my experiences and all of my daily thoughts and all of my collective playlists for this fic to be able to write the story I intended and that is exactly what I'm going to do.

(though if I'm being honest, this timeline is rough. I really want to just write and post this first chapter so so so bad. ToT)

Jon has also used homophobic hate speech against other users. Despite Jon’s identity as Gay, that does not exclude you from violent homophobia and hatred. For example, tumblr user @goldenair1776, said that she shipped Kwazii and Captain Barnacles. Even though this ship conveys harmful work dynamics, it is not okay to reprimand someone for liking gay people. Jon reblogged this post, saying that he hated gay people and all gay Octonauts ships. Then he made fun of goldenair, the op, for being bisexual. Tumblr TOS clearly states that they are against hate speech, it’s clear they have a bias for Jon and his account.

Um...Anybody worried that whatever chip Dark Sun removed somehow had something to do with Eclipse's malaise? It also completely removed Moon's inhibitions which are really not good And Moon, he was talking to himself about what he did but he dashed that all quickly, it he is having that little voice maybe he is being controlled, if not by Dark Sun then maybe by the Creator, and Dark Sun just removed what little good he might've had left, I hope they get that chip back, but even before that he's fully willing to leave after everything because he just doesn't care, I just know his whole "Now I get to build something for ME" it going to be latched onto in reference to Lunar getting angry over Jack, even though that was resolved and Jack became a fun addition to the family, and him building Earth her new body, even though Earth was beyond grateful As if things couldn't ramp up further right?

I think that's the case. It's probably another part of Dark Sun's plan. Now when he has Moon as a puppet in his hands, Eclipse can bring Solar back. Wonder what it'll all lead to beside Sun's death obviously.

I also think that Moon is controlled by Creator. Creator knows where Sun and Moon live cause he was at their house. Sun didn't tell Moon that Creator was in their house probably because Creator erased that from the camera footage. And we need to remember what Creator said when he met New Moon for the first time. That he'll come at random moment to "fix" killcode's issue. And he had a really good opportunity when Sun went to buy sushi for Moon and Moon was sleeping after mental breakdown he had. Especially considering that show decided to focus on Sun buying sushi for Moon despite this episode being titled "Moon's day off".

And I agree that this chip probably took Moon's morality out which is awful. But yeah Moon actively throws everything he had away. Like my guy do you realize that you're the one in the wrong here? And he's doing it all just because he couldn't do whatever he wants, apparently, even though he could cause he already barely listened to others' advices.

And yeah this line definitely refer to how he kept helping others as if someone was forcing him and as if it was something horrible to him 😒

Who is the most affectionate?

Merrill by a small margin, to an outsider by a large margin. The inner circle knows how reserved and intense Colter can be so even his shoulders relaxing and his face not doing a scowl is a sign of affection towards Merrill. 

Lucanis is reserved as all hell and quite frankly scared to show affection thanks to his upbringing (in the wigmaker job short story does say that he was tortured like any other crow so I’ll hold onto that piece of lore nugget and pretend the crows are are fearsome as they are in the three other games). Orananowen (I will be referring to her as Orana/Ora bc the full name is a mouthful) is just living her best life being a thistle, she’s constantly showering Lucanis is praise and physical affection whether he likes it or not (he does)

Big spoon/Little spoon?

Colter insists on being the big spoon, and Merrill is just such a holdable size compared to him so she fits into his arms so well. 

They switch. Orana loves being held but also recognizes that Lucanis needs to be held, even if he says he doesn’t. Also they’re the same height so its easy

Most common argument?

Merrill might get riled up about Colter's general disregard to people’s (who are not her or Bethany) wellbeing and lack of care when it comes to his title and power he holds in Kirkwall. Also Colter’s mabari slobbering on the bed when they’re trying to cuddle. Colter has issues with Merrill’s blood magic from time to time and she promises not to do it in front of him

During the events of the superblight it’s mostly Orana being snappy about Lucanis pulling away from her, and Lucanis being upset that she doesn’t quite understand the weight of the situation with him being an abomination (neither did the writers but it’s more severe in my head). After the events Orana is upset about Lucanis accepting the title of First Talon like “Really? After you told me that you never wanted this life????” being angry at the responsibilities he’s shoved onto himself because he simply felt obliged to. Lucanis would like Orana to spend more time in Treviso, but she wants to go back to the open seas. (In the end it either ends up with Ora frequently visiting or just straight up kidnapping him away, leaning towards the latter)

Favorite non-sexual activity?

Going on walks, the city, gardens, forests, anywhere Merrill wants to go (even trespassing if needed, Colter is her scary dog privilege). She does prefer the gardens and the wilds and Colter appreciates the time away from the city.

Cooking and baking together. Well more like Lucanis cooks/bakes while Orana has all sorts of input (she’ll make the drinks and gets to taste test everything)

Who is most likely to carry the other?

Merrill wouldn’t even try (although with her magic vines helping she might be able to pull it off but Colter won’t like it). Colter scoops Merrill up on many a-occasion, hauling her out of the Hanged Man, carrying her across puddles, up the stairs in his manor

It started when Ora dared him to act out a scene from a romance novel she knows he’s been reading in secret, and now she can’t get enough (Lucanis’ back has had enough so Spite pops in to help)

What is their favorite feature of their partner’s?

Colter loves Merrill eyes, the elves do have such pretty eyes, and her delicate neck. Merrill is partial to his stubble and chest hair, elves don't have that so she gets to explore new sensory stuff

I feel Lucanis would appreciate Ora’s sea salt wavy hair and her flat nose bridge, and her vallaslin and other tattoos, he’s just a guy who strikes me as lost in the sauce once he allows himself to be. Ora’s favourite features of Lucanis is hair and beard, his moles (gives him character and targets for kisses), his deep brown eyes

What’s the first thing that changes when they realize they have feelings for the other?

Merrill starts getting more flustered around him, Colter starts melting and being even more tender with Merrill

Lucanis gets scared and shuts off in an effort he sees as protecting them both. Ora gets even more stubborn about sledgehammering down his personal walls (the more she does the more Lucanis tries to rebuild them and she smashes them down again and he builds them back up and she-). Only after some helpful input from Spite and a visit to Lucanis’ mind palace/prison he finally lets her in.

Nicknames? & if so, how did they originate?

They don’t do nicknames, that’s Varric’s schtick. Merrill calls Colter “ma vhennan”, or by his name. Colter calls Merrill “love” or her name (iirc Merrill doesn’t like Varric's nickname for her and Colter will pick that up and respect it)

Orana will call him Scruffy (Varric apparently would’ve called him tha so she co-opted it), Lucanis calls her Jingly, because she wears so much stolen gold it's practically a bell collar

Who worries the most?

Merrill, just generally about everything. About Colter she knows he can very much hold his own and survive all sorts of bullshit but it doesn’t really help when he gets into trouble often. Colter has the attitude of “no need fussing about things you don’t have control over”, but he does get a pang of anxiety when separated from Merrill

They’re both suffering from terminal worrywart syndrome. Lucanis about how he’s going to balance the demon and his title and his love life. Ora worries about Lucanis most of the time, she’s generally carefree but Lucanis makes her bite her nails, there’s so many people who want him dead

Who remembers what the other one always orders at a restaurant?

Colter in his devotion will make a mental mark of every like and dislike Merrill has, food order included

Lmao the game even has a pop up notification of “Lucanis remembered Rook’s drink order” (i wish I was joking), and his love language is food, so obviously him. Orana would have a hard time remembering every fancy dish Lucanis likes and would order with a dartboard

Her dark brown hair had been tied up in two beautiful afro puffs. "Thank you, ma'am, it's beautiful." Clem murmurs, feeling safe enough to let down her walls that she usually kept around nonblack and nonnative people, so many who had tried to look at her funny even as a child for even speaking in her peoples' dialect. A deep inhale as her eyes flicker over to baby AJ who was suckling on warm milk and honey in a bottle.

"When I was a girl, kids used t' laugh a' me when I went on the schoolbus, call my hair "nappy", look at me funny like I was a clown or Booboo the fool or somethin'," her voice wavers for a moment, trying to hold back the river of tears that was threatening to break the dam before her breath hitches, "an' then I used ta' come home from school cryin' sayin' I was ugly. I'm gonna slap this under a readmore so this doesn't clog up folks' dashboards-

NOW as previously mentioned in other text posts I am very much of the opinion that the writers missed out on a brilliant opportunity to have the double murder subvert expectations and have two killers, one of whom gets away with it, so I love the idea that Kiyo was effectively gaslit into believing he did it - also the bandages thing makes perfect sense! Smh shuichi can't believe you missed that.

HOWEVER as much as I 100% believe that Tsumugi would frame not one but TWO blackened just to make sure her precious show gets good ratings, if she gets discovered in chap 3... who runs the rest of the game? Does someone from Team Danganronpa step in and begin interfering? The show must go on, yadda yadda, also - would Kaede's framing also get called out at this point? This whole thing would drastically change chapter 6, I'm almost inclined to say Keebo gets hijacked and becomes the de-facto "mastermind" (or at least the mastermind's avatar), and a lot of ch6 is dedicated to figuring out that he's not in control of himself and breaking him out of his conditioning.

Of course we then have to deal with the fact that we have a convicted murderer right there, in the group! And that will likely cause some tension. Then again, we had Genocide Jack in game 1, so the idea of the squad learning to live with a murderer isn't impossible.

Personally, the 'kiyo gets help' AUs I've seen thus far are, I think, a bit too generous with his recovery, and so what I'd like to see is if the others sit him down and talk to him about his trauma (maybe Himiko arranges some kind of exorcism ceremony because he believes it's a possession and sometimes you gotta play along with whatever works), he doesn't then become soft and sad but otherwise relatively normal - he just fixates on a new obsession. And yeah I'm gonna push my shinsai agenda here and say Shuichi was the one who got him off death row, Shuichi is the one trying to reintegrate him into the group despite his crime, Shuichi is his defender. So he dedicates his every waking moment to Shuichi, and yeah he's definitely creepy about it. He's got some shit to work through.

So whilst everything else is going on, Shuichi finds himself with this utterly devoted shadow who will do anything to help him in his investigations, and this probably causes a fair amount of friction between him and Maki especially - I think Kaito would be a bit weirded out, but he's not the kind of person to get angry at someone needing help unless they're being deliberately antagonistic (hi, Kokichi). Like the blog title says, being creepy isn't a crime.

So the rest of his character arc is him learning how to have 'normal' relationships and slowly redeeming himself via helping with the remaining cases.

And then chapter 6 hits, and boom. Sorry Kiyo, Sister was never real. You never had a true love. You were not a killer. Tenko died for nothing, because of your delusions. And, like, I don't think half a chapter is nearly enough time to unpack that, but I think having Shuichi there for him will be the only thread stopping him from falling completely off the deep end.

Whether or not you choose to commit to 'they're all fictional characters' versus 'tsumugi lied and there's still more truth to uncover' is up to you, I think there's potential either way. But that's how I would play it.

hey hey happy storyteller monday yeehaw I am vaguely stealing the same kinda artsy themes as the ask you sent me this time round, but I was thinkin about your recent sonder updates and was curious about uhhhhh what sort of approach you take when tackling something in comic form as opposed to a novel? what are the different things you need to keep in mind, what are the parts of the process that remain similar, n how does your personal approach differ between the two? c:

I think the simple answer is... there’s not a lot of difference? 

I get an idea, I sit on it for a few months, then I get started Actually Making it. Wip4 (nearly has a name, stay tuned :D) is very much like that, and simmering to the point of writing it, just in time for NaNo. I daydream and plot and plan and theories for a long time before the story feels firm and solid. So that’s similar; I sit on these ideas for MONTHS.

I also.... doodle a lot for any story I want to tell. For Sonder-comic, it’s easier cause I already know what a lot of the characters look like. Atlas! Atlas looks exactly the same but with lil wizard shoes now. That’s the only difference! So super easy to draw. Even like.... Andy? With his slight redesign? Still the same guy, I can draw that, no worries. Wip4 wise, it’s happened as well; I think I added in two whole scenes cause I doodled something then went ‘well what’s going on here why is this happening’ and tied it into the story lmao

So yea; lotsa doodles. Lotsa me drawing something, going ‘why are they in this place/doing this thing’ and making up reasons, then tying it into the world. Recently drew Atlas and went ‘well why DOES Atlas hate spiders’ and fell down a whole rabbit hole that fleshed out worldbuilding and backstories and their personal beef with both spiders AND with Andy, so that helped. 

Slight similarity, I plot both comics and novels a lot before starting them? At the moment, I’ve got a notebook for NaNo/wip4, and I’m just planning out each and every chapter; what happens, how people feel, bla bla bla. Very open to change, but it makes me feel better to know what to expect haha. 

Comics are plotted more with me getting a bunch of post-it notes and drawing each page out in a thumbnail. That’s what I did for the one and only comic I’ve ever made over a long time, about crows (@iceskatingcrow if you’re curious lmao). This time, I’ll probably write things out as well, but I still like making a rough plan to follow.

Different wise, I think... I mean, I’ve never really made a comic like THIS sort of thing before, so it’s going to be a lot of experimenting. Seeing how other people do stuff, seeing what I like. I’ll probably make some test mini-comics with backstories and lore and stuff in them before getting started properly, which is similar-ish to me writing short stories to get used to characters voices, except with.... colour. 

I also keep thinking of scenes and things that would happen, and imagining how I’d describe them with words, before remembering ‘wait no hang on this is pictures, dumbass’ 

Things I need to keep in mind; structure. Different angles of drawings. Backgrounds???? lmao it’s gonna be a fun journey. Sonder was my first proper novel, and now it’s gonna be my first proper comic. 

Also: not to rush!!! Be calm!!! I’m going to be living my life at the same time as making this and publishing it into the world. If I work on something all day, every day, I’ll get sick of it again. Take my time, enjoy what I do and tell a fun story. 

Yea :D basically I’m very excited to... draw. I’ve not been so excited for Sonder-related content in a long time, so this re-vamp is thrilling me. I hope I’ll keep enthusiasm long enough to finish it.
