Grindeldore and Dumbledore Centric Fanfiction Ideas for People who Have the Time and Patience to Write them:

I'm an idea person with not a lot of time or follow through. Some of these are just tropes and concepts in Grindeldore fics, I like and want to see more of them.

Go nuts, have fun, and thank you for letting me get these out of my head

Sorry for the ramble you're about to read:

• Any masquerade / costume ballthemed fic, the more allegorical costumes, the better.

• More fanfiction that focuses on the political implications of the relationship. Bonus points if Vogel fails at flirting with one or both Gellert and Albus.

• Fantastic Beasts is set in the 1920s, but there are not enough nightclubs centered fics.

• Dumbledore's much needed and much deserved mental breakdown. That man so go postal at least once. Bonus points if he loses control of his magic along with his emotions.

• More fics about what Gellert and Albus were up to right after the summer of 1899. There is a very good fic on here that deals with this time frame where Albus is apprenticing with Flammel that is really good, especially with how they write Albus's mental state.

• I have this headcanon that Dumbledore was a spy during WWI. He's just built for spy craft in my mind. I also see Grindelwald being a field medic during this time, I think it's a cool explanation for his healing abilities we see in the first FB movie.

• Evil! Albus and Gellert AU with Albus playing the dipolmatic people's prince to balance Gellert's firey, hot-headed passion. But underneath Albus is definitely the scarier one, still reeling from losing the last of his family and becoming even more codependent on Gellert.

• Albus as a Tranfer student to Durmstrang AU. Strong dark academia potential with this and really fun avenues to play with the darker aspects of his and Gellert's relationship as well as Albus's character.

• The beloved attic wife Dumbledore trope but with Albus having a little more agency and badassery.

• Emperor Gellert and Albus versus young Tom Riddle. Think the 'Playing with the Big Boys' number from Prince of Egypt. Bonus points for two of them being the masters of death and Albus mastering the Resurrection stone. Extra bonus points for Albus and Gellert giving Mortica and Gomez Addams energy the whole time.

• The aftermath of Albus winning the duel. The Arrest, the trial, being awarded the order of merlin, having to hide the pain, and guilt.

• Mike Flannagan's Haunting of Hill House but with the Dumbledore Brothers and Gellert.

• Albus taking matters into his own hands after Myrtle's death, being reminded too much of Arianna and killing Tom Riddle. Having no one of turn to but Gellert.

• Any fic with emphasis on the high intelligence and massive magical talents of the two men.

• Albus, Newt and co, Vinda, and Gellert all being imprisoned together by magical or nonmagical bad-actors and having to work together to get out. Bonus points for Gellert and Albus being super in-sync with each other, and everyone notices it but them. Extra bonus points for Jacob being in utter disbelief that someone a kind as Albus could have been with the guy that literally brainwashed his wife and tortured him in public. Extra, Extra points if Albus and Gellert treat everyone like their kids for comedy. Great hurt and comfort potential for multiple ships.

Some common Grindeldore tropes I like being added to fics:

• Any fanfic that emphasizes Albus's depression and complete disregard for his own life and Gellert's own self- loathing and complex emotions about his actions. Bonus points if they are mutually horrified by the other's low opinions of themselves.

• Any fanfic that emphasizes how much the ministries truly suck, especially with how they basically want to use Albus as a weapon while also dealing with Gellert behind closed doors.

• These old wizards are absolute freaks. I will not be convinced otherwise.

• For two men who made a bloodpact and one who discovered the 12 uses of dragons blood, there is not enough blood magic in these fics.

The Reaper’s Last Dance

A snippet from my grindeldore fic -

The Hall of Mirrors shimmered with candlelight, a golden world of reflections and revelry. Perfumed laughter drifted through the air, mingling with the clinking of crystal goblets and the low murmur of intrigue. Beneath chandeliers that burned like captured constellations, nobles swayed in elaborate silks, their powdered wigs nodding with feigned indifference, their lips curling around whispered betrayals.

Albus had never felt more out of place.

He stood at the edge of the celebration, dressed in fine but unembellished garments, his physician’s hands restless at his sides. Versailles, for all its grandeur, reeked of sickness. Beneath the rouge and pomade, beneath the gilded brocade, he could hear the shallow, consumptive breaths of men who had feasted too richly on excess. He had come here under the guise of a healer, summoned to treat the Duke d’Orléans, but the court was a web he had no wish to be entangled in.

And yet—

“You look as though you’d rather be anywhere else, Albus.”

The voice was silk wrapped around steel, a blade hidden beneath velvet.

Albus turned sharply, already knowing who he would find.

Gellert stood before him, clad in a midnight-blue coat embroidered with silver, the high collar framing his sharp, amused features. A half-mask obscured his face, but it did nothing to hide the glint in his eyes—the same glint Albus had seen across centuries, across war-torn cities and plague-ridden streets.

“You should not be here,” Albus murmured, his voice low."

Gellert smiled. “And yet, neither should you.”

He stepped closer, and Albus felt it—the quiet inevitability of it, like the tide pulling against the shore. The scent of bergamot and something darker curled between them. Gellert reached out, gloved fingers tracing the edge of Albus’s mask, as if testing its reality.

“Tell me,” he whispered, “is it exhausting? Carrying all that righteousness?”

Albus swallowed, his pulse a betrayer against his throat. “Is it exhausting, Gellert, carrying all those lives on your conscience?”

Gellert’s lips quirked. “Not at all.”

A waltz began, the strings rising like a held breath. Gellert extended a hand. An invitation. A challenge.

Albus hesitated for only a moment before taking it.

Their fingers laced together, and the room around them blurred into golden haze.

bloodpxct may actually finish a long Grindeldore fanfiction... everyone looked at her in shock. ( I really struggle with long fanfictions and lose motivation easily 😵‍💫 )

sometimes i remember that i planned & outlined a LONGGG grindeldore prequel to crimson rivers / inspired by crimson rivers in early 2023.

I wrote the first chapters, plotted out chapter by chapter and then gave up on it. rest in peace, the fall of icarus and all my notes for it.

Nocturnal Sunshine is back ✨

It's not like Gellert hated Albus Dumbledore. He just hated the sharpness of his mind, his iron hold over magic, and his charm. He also hated the soft smile he imparted on everyone so easily, so effortlessly, completely unbothered by the grimness and closure of Durmstrang. He was sunshine incarnated, and Gellert absolutely hated it. But there was also some darkness in him; darkness twirling in his heart, and Gellert would have had perverse pleasure to coax it out. Nocturnal sunshine.

just random thoughts:

From my experience of reading both Chinese fanfic and English MLM & WLW hp fanfic, it appears to me that English (especially American, don’t ask me how I know they are American) authors are more inclined to

Write under age sex

Write about messy dating as characters’ exploration of sexual identity or gender identity

Include trans characters

Characters having a clear statement like: I am gay/ I am bi

Talk about social justice issues, (eg. I forgot which fic but the two girls’ first talk is about lesbian activism)

While Chinese authors are more like to write:

Characters having sex (right) after they come of age

Instead of messy dating(also exists but less) characters feel miserable until they suddenly meet each other

Include intersex characters

Instead of saying: I am gay. They say: I just happen to fall in love of someone of the same sex. Instead of expressing: love is love. They say: you are you, and no matter what gender you are I still love you.

Usually the world either just accept them or the topic about social acceptance is ambiguous and instead focus on how the characters get together

Brazil's Ministry of Magic

For those who are reading my last fic Alekhine Cannon, or even for those who like Fantastic Beasts, I thought it would be interesting to show how beautiful Brazil's Ministry of Magic is. 

In Dumbledore's Secrets, the Palace appears briefly at the moment when Vicencia Santos wins the vote and becomes Mugwump.  At that moment, several wizards celebrate the Brazilian's victory in a very beautiful place in Rio de Janeiro, which I assumed was the Ministry of Magic.

This palace,which is now part of an university, is a park open to the public, with a delicious café. 

This is also the beautiful setting for the main battle in my fic. 

I think this would be the Ministry of Magic building...

And this is the interior....

“Are you sure about going there?” 

Albus paused, his hands outstretched above the trunk, and looked over his arm at Elphias. His best friend was furrowing his brows and looking back at him with so much worry and desperation in his eyes that Albus rolled his eyes. 

“I told you I will be fine.”

“But it’s Durmstrang–”

“It’s a school, Elphias. Sure, it has a reputation way worse than Hgowarts, but it’s still a school, and I’m going there to learn new things and strengthen the bond between our schools.” 

“Now you’re talking just like the Headmaster,” he grumbled. Albus chuckled at that, returning to folding his clothes and putting them diligently in the trunk. “I just don’t want anything to happen to you.” 

“I know. I’ll be fine though. I can go back any time I want, right?  If I really dislike the school and the classes, I can just terminate the agreement and come back earlier. You have nothing to be worried about.” 

“I have plenty to be worried about–” 

Dull noise of the trunk closing penetrated the still air between them; Elphias winced but Albus barely reacted, stoically shrinking his baggage before reaching for his outer robes and wand. Adrenaline has been buzzing in his veins the whole morning when he packed; it was exciting, like diving into a new adventure not quite knowing what was to be expected at the end of it.
