78-2486 - New yeast

The next #UskQuezonCity prompt for #Sketchtober2023 was ‘bread’ (for Day 6) and although I have recently draw the results of my bread making, I didn’t hesitate to draw this new loaf. After a few failures (rock hard or doughy loaves) I bought some new yeast and this was the solution. This loaf (the Kenwood recipe calls it ‘rustic white’) came out perfectly.  Sat-7-Oct-2023

Delicious seafood galore - sketched from a photo we took of the assortment of seafood prepared for us at the end of a 2-day cheesy day trips to see Ipoh's Sky Mirror & Blue Tears algae specials (because some members in our group were just too bored to stay put in the fishing village we were staying in).... to city dwellers like us, the food was great, but according to the locals, not so great, cheap stuff meant for tourists. But I like how the dishes were all served on banana leaves. If you ask me, I wouldn't recommend the tours, but since we don't really have boat rides in Singapore, I did enjoy these trips because we were taken out to the lakes and the sea. Pretty fun to be out in the open. By the way this was almost a month ago.... I am just too slow to post.

74-2485 - Dried fish

The next subject for #Sketchtober2023 from #UskQuezonCity (for the 5th October…as usual I am a few days behind) was ‘native product’. So this is definitely not an #UrbanSketch because I took these little dried fish out of the fridge to sketch. I think they are called Danggit…there are so many types of dried fish here, I lose track. I don’t eat them being a vegetarian…and frankly I wonder how much…

Little Daruma here again singing the praises of one of its favorite dishes, Toshikoshi Soba or Year-end Soba 🍜 Simultaneously a symbol of a long life in the form of long noodles as well as cutting away that which burdens us to greet the new year refreshed as the noodles are easily cut.
