I was absolutely privileged to be entrusted with this beautiful commission of these two siblings, and so deeply captivated by their sweet affection and in this year last dreamy summer day.

It's funny the things that touch you about a painting. For me, one of the beautiful features of this painting is the reflection with the subtle atmospheric pinks and blues reflected from the girls dresses that seem to not only ground them in the scene but hint at their spirits intermingling playfully. I love the light that moves through them and the colours of their dresses subtly reflect and echo against each other.

Just a quick thank you to the jury members of the @fedofcdnartists for awarding me with the great honour of Active Membership last April.

I'm very excited and hope to work and contribute to the fantastic work you do in Canada and hope to be able to contribute work worthy of the @federationgallery later this year or in the long run.

I didn’t abandon the painting thing! I just got busy for a couple days. It’s possible that we were not supposed to do *this many* triangles on this assignment, but I didn’t come here to quit! I’ll finish this one soon hopefully, and then on to the next assignment!

Also, random side note, but I have one very nice sable brush that I got as a gift, and I kinda hate it? It had stray hairs and zero point to it from the first time I dipped it in water. Is this a common experience or did I just get a defective one? Princeton velvetouch still reigns supreme for me, even though I am now officially mixing my acrylic and watercolor brushes.

Day 3: This is the first time the assignment includes an actual sketch beforehand. The total estimated time for this piece is 30-45 minutes, which I assume was a based on someone who can draw at a reasonable speed. I might have to come back to this one tomorrow if I get home from work as late as I expect. That’s ok though, still a step forward in terms of practice; you can see how badly I need it!
