97-2926 - Strawberry apples

Here is an evening still life of some fruit – a nice easy subject when I am stuck for something to draw. According to one website these are botanically classified as Malus domestica and are native to America…so they travelled a long way before we ate them. They are called strawberry apples because they release a subtle berry-like scent that is supposed to smell like strawberries. Thu-12-Dec-2024

This is another one I have a love hate relationship with. I like the color scheme and how the background elements came out, the tv needs work but it gave me a whole lot of ideas for other things to try.

Delicious seafood galore - sketched from a photo we took of the assortment of seafood prepared for us at the end of a 2-day cheesy day trips to see Ipoh's Sky Mirror & Blue Tears algae specials (because some members in our group were just too bored to stay put in the fishing village we were staying in).... to city dwellers like us, the food was great, but according to the locals, not so great, cheap stuff meant for tourists. But I like how the dishes were all served on banana leaves. If you ask me, I wouldn't recommend the tours, but since we don't really have boat rides in Singapore, I did enjoy these trips because we were taken out to the lakes and the sea. Pretty fun to be out in the open. By the way this was almost a month ago.... I am just too slow to post.

98-2954 - Ferry snack bar

Finally, here is my last holiday sketch done on the ferry on the way back. This time instead of sitting in the air-conditioned bit (which you have to pay an extra Php50 for) we sat in front of the snack bar – handy for coffee, biscuits, packet noodles etc. I am sure they do great business as for most of the two hour ferry ride there were lots of people queuing to be served. 2019年の #新年会 。

2020年まで、 #武蔵小杉 教室の前に新年会をしていました。

この年は、 #リストランテアンアンブレラ 。

楽しかったなぁ。

今年は新年会をしようと思ったけど、この数年でお客様も状況が変わり、みんなで集まるのは難しいかな？

といいつつ、また何かイベント的なことをしたいなぁ。

昔はよくイベントを企画したっけ。カフェでスケッチしたり、写経やお茶席、ファッション診断まで。

実は一つ準備の要らない簡単なイベントを考えていて、ちょっとワクワクしてる。

Have always wanted to sketch a meal from IKEA, but never had a chance ‘cos for years I only go to the mega store with my family, and that usually meant no time to sketch.

This late afternoon I had to wait to pick up my car from the salon near the Alexandra Rd, so I took a short walk to IKEA, ordered this combo and got down to work.

What I was doing drew many curious looks especially from kids, who stopped to peer over my shoulder, and also the 2 friendly cleaning staff (I was sitting just next to the tray return station).

Felt very satisfied after I was done, with both the sketch and the food. 🥰😋

Glad to have had my me time and meditation for the day. 🙏🏼😌
