X-Men: The Next Mutation Opening

It starts off showing a shot of The Westchester District, just as the slightly transparent shot of Xavier's eyes appeared over it.

Right before cutting to a shot of The X-Men, partying.

"Give it up!"

Soon enough, a slideshow started.

It then cuts to The X-Men, along with Mariko, Akihiro and Laura, all in their pajamas, eating breakfast.

The X-Men were eating massive portions of it while the others just looked on in shock.

"The next stage of evolution is here!"

It cuts to the team traversing through The Danger Room.

Cyclops, Colossus, Shadowcat and Wolverine were running.

Psyche, Storm, Angel and Lockheed were flying

Beast was swinging from hoop to hoop.

Nightcrawler was teleporting.

And Iceman was using an ice slide.

It cuts to the team relaxing at the swimming hole with Duncan and Taryn.

They were all about plunge into a pool via an icy waterslide.

It then cuts to the team in living room of Beast, Angel and Iceman's home, where they were playing video games, all while in their pajamas.

Shadowcat and Lockheed were cheering with joy.

Storm, Beast, Angel and Iceman were completely locked-in.

Psyche was having fun.

Cyclops and Colossus had practically given up.

It cuts to a baseball field, where the team were playing baseball.

Psyche was the pitcher, Iceman was the batter, Cyclops was the catcher, and the others were basemen and field catchers.

It then cuts to Shadowcat chasing a loose Lockheed through the halls of Midtown High School, with Nightcrawler, Colossus and Iceman not too far behind.

It finally cuts to a group shot of the team, all doing goofy faces, while....

"X-M-E-N!"

Was shouted, with the letters briefly appearing in a big white don't surrounded and highlighted by a yellow and blue background.

"Alright!"

It then cuts to a shot of Xavier, smiling at the audience, as he was sitting in front of a background made up of the swirling symbols of the mutant classes.

Those being a starburst (Energy), a brain (Mental), a paw-print (Feral), a four-way blast of wind, water, fire and earth (Elemental), an atom (Molecular), and a combination of all five (Hybrid).

We then cut to a montage, showcasing each of the X-Men, accompanied by brief fading transitions.

The first was Cyclops, which was done in front of a ruby-colored background with starbursts.

His fading transitions included him putting on his shades, working on a car, making a model plane, lifting a truck over his head with a ruby-colored glow radiating from his body, flying around with a ruby-colored energy aura engulfing him, and unleashing a three-way blast with his visor and hands.

It then cuts to Cyclops, standing next to his logo with his arms crossed and a smile on his face.

His logo was in navy blue font, with a ruby beam blasting out of the O.

The second was Psyche, which was done in front of a pink-colored background with spheres.

Her fading transitions included her doing a puzzle with her telekinesis, reading a fashion magazine, doing some cheerleading, stopping a barrage of glass shards with her telekinesis, crafting a psionic barrier around herself, and unleashing a wave of psionic energy.

It then cuts to Psyche, standing next to her logo, hovering above the ground.

Her logo was made entirely out of pink psionic energy.

The third was Beast, which was done in front of a light blue background with all kinds of animal footprints.

His fading transitions included him reading a book all while being surrounded by piles of them, mixing chemicals together, playing football, swinging around in his sasquatch form, licking his arm in his feline form, mooing in his bovine form, sleeping his bear form, snorting in his boar form, and sniffing around in his canine form.

It then cuts to Beast (in his sasquatch form), hanging underside down right next to his logo.

His logo was blue and furry.

The fourth was Storm, which was fone in front of a thunderstorm.

Her fading transitions included her watering several plants with a mini thundercloud, leading environmental rally, sunbathing, going into her ice form, turning herself into a whirlwind, turning herself into a wave, and zipping all over the place in her electric form.

It then cuts to Storm, who was hovering right next to her logo.

Her logo was made entirely out of electricity.

The fifth was Angel, which was done in front of a sky blue background with clouds.

Her fading transitions included her giving some food to a homeless man, playing chess, flying around, a bleeding gash on her shoulder instantly healing, using her healing touch to help an injured woman, and hurling a blast of light.

It then cuts to Angel flying right beside her logo.

Her logo was in gold font, with a light halo right above the G.

The sixth was Nightcrawler, which was done in front of a background with black and indigo clouds.

His fading transitions included him performing at a play, reading The Three Musketeers, dressing up like a pirate with his cutlasses in hand, swinging from some trapezes, disappearing into a shadow, and teleporting all over the place.

It then cuts to Nightcrawler crouching beside his logo.

The logo was in indigo font and had black mist surrounding it.

The seventh was Colossus, which was done in a front of grey background.

His fading transitions included him painting on a canvas, drawing his sketchbook, admiring a statue, going into his steel form, and carrying several farm animals over his head.

It then cuts to Colossus standing right next to his logo, with his hands on his hips.

His logo was made completely out of grey steel.

The eighth was Iceman, which was done in a front of an icy blue background with some frozen rigids on the edges.

His fading transitions included him laughing at a laptop, skating across the ground, making funny faces, doing some stand-up comedy, putting on his ice armor, freezing a glass of water, hurling on icy shards, and riding on his ice slide.

It then cuts to Iceman, who was leaning against his logo with his arms crossed.

The logo was made entirely out of ice.

The ninth was Shadowcat and Lockheed, which was done in front of a yellow and black background.

Their fading transitions included playing Dungeons and Dragons, surfing the web, fixing a broken computer, playing fetch together, and phasing through a wall.

It then cuts to Shadowcat and Lockheed standing right beside their logo.

Shadowcat's was yellow while Lockheed's was purple.

And the final was Wolverine, was done in front of a yellow orange background with black triangular stripes.

His fading transitions included riding his motorcycle, drinking some beer, kissing Mariko on the cheek, hugging Akihiro and Laura, doing some practice with his katanas, ejecting his claws, sniffing around, having his missing hand grow back, and lunging towards the screen.

It then cuts to Wolverine, who was in a battle stance right beside his logo.

His logo was in yellow orange font with black triangular stripes.

"X....."

"M....."

"E....."

"N......"

It cuts to a scend of X-Men logos, which was moving across the screen.

"X-M-E-N!"

It then cuts to a group shot of the X-Men, who were all doing some kind of action.

"The Next Mutation....."

But suddenly, The Brotherhood of Mutant Supremacy broken through the shot, shattering it in the process.

First was Mystique, then followed by Rogue, Sabretooth, The Juggernaut, The Blob, Pyro, Avalanche, Sauron, Lorelei, Unus the Untouchable, and Toad.

It cuts to a line-up shot of the group, all ready to fight.

It then cuts to a line-up shot of The X-Men, also ready to fight and essentially facing their respective rivals.

A montage began, showing The X-Men facing off against respective rivals on The Brotherhood.

The first scene showed Mystique, who pulled out two guns as eight tendrils grew out her body, all equipped with guns as well.

It then pans to Xavier, who crafted psionic energy gatling guns for his wheelchair.

And soon enough, the two started blasting at each other.

The second scene showed Shadowcat and Lockheed dodging several projectile barriers from Unus.

The third scene showed Angel, who was flying away from Sauron.

She was hurling beams of light at him, while he was hurling optic beams, psionic energy blasts, lightning, and icy blasts at her.

The third scene showed Beast dodging Blob, who was rolling all over the place at incredible speeds.

Blob then proceeded to leap high into the air and came back down with a mighty thud, unleashing a massive shockwave in the process, prompting Beast to jump back.

The fourth scene showed Iceman sliding around Pyro, who was launching massive fire balls at him, while he was retailing with icy blasts.

The fifth scene showed Psyche and Lorelei engaged in a battle of mental fortitude as they unleashed psionic waves and hypnotic singing onto each other.

The sixth scene showed Nightcrawler and Toad dueling with each other, attacking with sword slashes and kicks and dodging each other's attacks.

The seventh scene showed Colossus engaged in a brawl with Juggernaut.

The eighth scene showed Wolverine and Sabretooth trading slashes with each other.

The ninth scene showed Avalanche riding on a massive wave of earth towards Storm, who was a massive wave of water right now.

And the final scene showed Cyclops and Rogue facing each other while standing separate rooftops.

Cyclops started forming a ball of energy in his hands, all while his ruby glow appeared.

And Rogue started doing the same thing as well, but with a green glow.

Soon enough, the two leaders both unleashed a massive blast towards each other, which collided, prompting a massive flash to engulf the screen.

It then cuts to a shot of the series title, right before panning up to a group shot of The X-Men.

"X-M-E-N!"

It's one of my all-time favourite book-to-series ("All Souls Trilogy" by Deborah Harkness) productions - obvi co-starring Alex Kingston, as a witchy, sassy (hello, sweetie!), LGBT Auntie - and the entire series is just perfect?! Time travel, witches, vampires, werewolves, unrequited love, broken hearts, baddies, fab CGI, beautiful cast, great story...what more could you ask for?

CAST (some Doctor Who vets): Matthew Goode, Teresa Palmer, Alex Kingston, Lindsay Duncan (😍), Sophia Myles, Louise Brealey, James Purefoy (😍), Tom Hughes, Valerie Pettiford, Alysha Heart, Trevor Eve, Owen Teale, Paul Rhys...and on and on!

The first season was released in 2018 but there are 3 seasons altogether and it's absolutely worth the watch.

I'm on my fifth watch 🤓 since its initial release. So good!
