912: Diana Zimmerman - The Enchantress
Diana Zimmerman is an enchanting woman in every sense of the word: personality, charm, abilities, looks, intelligence, skill, and so much more. She has led a life of magic like few other women. And she is being recognized for her achievements by being inducted to the Los Angeles Times Global Magicians Hall of Fame on July 9th, 2025. Married at 19 to Dick Zimmerman, magician and creative genius, she performed around the world on television and stage with her one-woman performance. She traveled with a giant gramophone then later switched to a thumb tie and pick pocketing. She developed and still works with the Magic Castle Junior Program (which just celebrated their 50th year) and is the author of several books of fantasy. But she also authored the definitive collector’s edition of the Siegfried and Roy book.

Diana has so many stories that she shares with us this week including her early days working with her then-husband, Dick Zimmerman, then how Cary Grant encouraged her to form the junior program at the Magic Castle, and many stories about the late Siegfried and Roy. She was a close confidant to the illusionists and shares some “behind the scenes” stories from Little Bavaria to “the Incident” that ended their Las Vegas run.

I think the show's biggest problem is not Tim ending storylines prematurely (apart from the Bucktommy break up - that was foul - Tommy exiting without any light at the end of the tunnel for his character was absolute foul and I will never forgive Tim for that) but that he doesn't know how to make his characters actually grow...
I didn't have a problem with the Doug death and Shannon death - but the way it's aftermath was handled and how when Tim doesn't know what to do with Madney and Eddie he just bomb drops those names but without any actual show of growth and reconciliation - especially with the Eddie-Shannon thing --- I understand Gavin was not available for the Chris storyline but he is still not addressing the real Eddie's Shannon Trauma of it all and then again in future when Eddie would seem to be happy, he will bomb drop Shannon Trauma out of nowhere because he doesn't want his characters to grow and sticks them in the hamster wheel -- like either get to the bottom of Eddie's grief and trauma of Shannon's death or just move on, there is no point in using that woman's name for the sake of drama value it is getting repetitive and burnt out.
He wants Buck back to his immature season 1 behaviour and series of break ups, when he doesn't know what to do with Bobby he brings back the fire incident and alcoholism, Henren are stuck with foster care storylines and Chimney is reduced to just a sassy comic relief.
Sure growth is not linear and Doug and Shannon and all those things will always be a part of these characters lives but they don't always have to ride shotgun with these characters, he is allowed to put them in their rearview mirror. I hope Tim realizes that these characters are allowed to have new experiences that are just as impactful if not more than their one major trauma of their past.

the way some bucktommy's are reacting now that they've realized tommy might be gone soon is so funny to watch
they are actually, genuinely angry that "tommy was just being used"
like yes, of course he was; that's what a plot device is
and I've been saying this the whole time, but they really do live in a different reality
while we've been here watching a character we've loved for the past six years finally get a much-awaited queer arc, they came in and latched onto a character who has appeared in less than 10 episodes (out of a 106 episode run, mind you)
and I'm not saying they can't have their headcanons (most of which are just traits/plot points taken directly from eddie's character or things they had to pay lfj to pull out of his ass), but they really shouldn't be surprised when the story continues to progress in the same direction it was always going to
like, believe what you will, but at the end of the day the material in the show itself doesn't build him up to be anything other than a plot device to move the story forward
in the simplest terms possible, buck and eddie are the main characters, and tommy will be here just long enough to fulfill his purpose in their story
#just like tatiana was for chim#and eva was for hen#and doug was for maddie#and so on and so forth#you get my point#911 abc#9-1-1#evan buckley#eddie diaz#anti tommy kinard#buddie#anti bucktommy

“Doug Henning, who I knew from school... We went out for coffee.
I said, ‘So what do you want to do?’ Because I knew he was doing magic all around.
He said, ‘Well, if I could raise some money to do these big illusions, I’d like to go on tour with a rock group and do these theatrical events with rock music and magic.’
I said, ‘That sounds like it’s going to be expensive, going place to place. Why don’t we do it in a theater as a theatrical show?’
I was able to do that. We started this show.
Amazingly, David Cronenberg wrote the book, I directed and produced, Howard Shore was my composer, Paul Shaffer was our bandleader.
We did this really complex lovely show with magic tricks and stuff.” - Ivan Reitman talking about the 1973 stage production Spellbound

ok so Athena and Bobby are building their dream house and planning their future together, and I don't think the show is cruel enough to wreck Athena's life by taking her hubby away right at this moment, especially after we know what happened with Emmett, so I'm holding on to hope, I really am.
#911 spoilers#911 leaks#911 but like the show#bobby nash#athena grant#bathena#idk anymore im just Scared fjdjjf#but yeah tbh the show has never let that kind of tragedy befall our mains outside of some of the backstories#hen didn't lose karen. chim didn't lose maddie. chim didn't die even though he could've like 4 times so far.#rebar/doug/that paramedic/amber#bobby and athena were also fine after that fire even tho bobby almost died. buck too after the lightning strike#i mean hell they both WERE dead for a bit and yet they came back#so i really wanna hope 911 wont decide to do a 180° turn in s8 and change the entire show's tone out of left field

an episode of 911 a la "the french mistake" where buck idk jumps out a window from a fire and lands on the fox lot and buck can't understand why everyone is asking him where his accent went and wasn't hen a lesbian 5 minutes ago???? and why are bobby and chim so much closer than bobby is with him here? and why isn't athena commenting on how he's dumb gawking at everything (like "you're gonna catch flies if you keep that mouth open any longer, buckaroo")? and why aren't he and eddie close in this universe? is this universe's buck depressed as fuck not being able to basically share the same quantum space as his eddie? AND WHERE IS CHRISTOPHER? WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE WON'T SEE HIM UNTIL NEXT YEAR? HE JUST GOT BACK! and anyway when he gets home buck insists on hugging everyone for a *ridiculous* amount of time. and when they get home buck makes eddie unzip his hoodie, so buck can climb in with him, face to face. and it's not super comfortable, but eddie allows it. and everything is okay.
