So I’m in a health care major in college, and I’m having my first season of high holy days as a Jew-ish person. So, being a busy student along with having many days I need to take off in October, I’ve gotten very used to talking to professors.
I’m in a class for cultural advocacy and bias in the medical setting. We’ve spent hours reviewing case studies, talking about social determinants and education, and general cross cultural acceptance. We talked at length about different and equitable approaches for religious minorities- in terms of dietary needs, holidays, and lifestyle.
I didn’t expect any trouble with taking this class off. So I approached my professor and told her that because of Rosh Hashanah next week, I wouldn’t be able to attend class next Thursday.
She turned to me, very sweetly and said “okay! Just make sure to use your golden pass!”
The one time golden pass is provided to every student in the course- specifically for menial situations. You could use this just because you’re hung over, a little sick or just don’t feel like it.
Religious holidays are not- and as noted in my university’s policy on this very matter - “an optional day off.” I should not have to use my one “fun pass” for a genuine cultural obligation. And this isn’t me just saying that. This is the college’s policy.
If this happened in an anatomy class with a STEM driven professor, I’d be a little annoyed but ultimately understanding. But this is a class where we’ve discussed social policy at length and the importance of diversity. The least I could expect was for the fine bullet points on our own school standards to be read.
So as I write an email to her, gently explaining this and having my request in writing, I have to channel my frustration somewhere.
What can I say? I’m very much getting the Jewish experience.

I was asked to tell more about the holidays in my legacy gameplay, so here is a super long and detailed post on the subject! 😊
How I use holidays in my game
I used to hate the holidays, cos I saw them as something my sims had to participate in and there was always so much pressure to complete all the traditions! But then I cracked it...
Holidays are a great way to add objectives to gameplay! When every day is some kind of a holiday with its own theme, there's always something for my sims to do.
I tick the "day off" box only if the holiday is a major one or the traditions would feel too rushed if my sim worked on the same day.
I try to have a lot of outdoor/traveling holidays in the spring and summer, and more home lot based holidays in the autumn and winter.
For some holidays, I add a diverse set of traditions and then choose only one or two to complete every sim year.
Sometimes my sims are just too busy with other things in life to participate at all. The No more "awful holiday" sad moodlet mod (linked below) is super useful because it completely takes the pressure off of completing holiday traditions!
It's very refreshing to use custom icons for the holidays, it matters more than you'd think! I use the More selectable icons mod (linked below) for this feature.
I've taken ideas and inspiration for some of my holidays from countless lists made by other simmers over the years.
Holiday mods
Traditions
Please note that some of these mods feature some of the same traditions - pick and choose so you don't get duplicates! Every custom tradition I use in my game is from these mods.

More holiday ideas
If you want to create your own holidays, but struggle with coming up with ideas, here are some things I always consider when I create holidays.
Can you match a world with a season? Summer holidays in Sulani, winter holidays in Mt. Komorebi, etc.
Alternatively, have a summer holiday in Sulani when it's winter elsewhere, a winter holiday in Mt. Komorebi when it's summer elsewhere, etc.
What if you took the default holidays and placed them in a different season? Celebrate Winterfest on the beach in the summer!
Can you match a world with a theme? Nature holidays in Granite Falls, city holidays in San Myshuno, etc.
Think of a simple theme for your holiday (games, sports, food, animals, books, etc.) and choose traditions based on that.
Create a holiday that requires your sim to travel from world to world to complete all the traditions.
Have a 3 day holiday for a vacation trip, with different traditions to complete each day.
Create holidays for specific life stages. What would a teen or an elder sim do for their holiday?
Create a holiday for each occult type. How would a Spellcaster spend their holiday?
Can you think of a way to combine holidays and clubs?
Put two really different holidays right next to each other so you have lots of variety in gameplay.
If you're playing a legacy, create a holiday for each heir sim based on their personality, and have their offspring celebrate these holidays to honor them.
Research real life holidays that are celebrated around the world to find new ideas.
Can't find the traditions that you need in your game? Follow this tutorial by LittleMsSam to create your own traditions!

₊˚⊹ᰔ Valentine's day! ˖ ࣪ . ࿐ ♡ ˚ .
Tumblr media
𐙚Synopsis: Valentine's day special!; 𐙚Pairing: fem!reader×dazai osamu&chuuya nakahara (separately) 𐙚Contain: headcanons, drabbles (?), sfw+nsfw, comfort, MDNI, hint of sex, rough sex, gentle sex, stimulation, oral sex, fingering, aftercare; 𐙚Author's note: (died after what is written above💀)... I tried to write this, but I don't know how well I did it. So... Once again, happy Valentine's Day to everyone! I'm a little late with this (っ- ‸ - ς)
Tumblr media
DAZAI
•THIS MAN ADORES YOU
•Considering that in the past he had a great, great experience of various communication (and obviously not only) with girls, you are the luckiest in the world (or maybe not ...)
•Dazai is a man of different moods. You never know what will come over him at the most random moment. You even jokingly call him "Mr. Mystery," and he takes it as a compliment.
•He ALWAYS gives you gifts. Regardless of the situation. Regardless of whether it's a holiday today or not. Regardless OF WHETHER HE EVEN HAS MONEY (bruh, we all know that he has it; a former member of the Port Mafia without money? nope)
•His presents on ordinary days can be very diverse. But on holidays, he takes a particularly responsible approach to choosing gifts.
•Valentine's Day? RUN. HE WON'T LET YOU GO ALL DAY.
•He belongs to the type of men who like to do everything for show. HE BREAKS INTO THE AGENCY AND GRABS YOU, HUGGING YOU LIKE A PLUSH TOY
•You literally have to HIDE MONEY FROM HIM so that he doesn't buy up ALL THE FLOWERS IN THIS CITY.
•But it still doesn't help; HE STILL COMES WITH A HUGE BOUQUET, SMIRKING SMUGLY
•Usually he gives you white lilies, sometimes he can afford to buy roses or chrysanthemumsIn addition to flowers, you receive from him a gentle kiss on the cheek / forehead and a box of interesting sweets that you have never tasted
•Able to stay at home on holidays when you go to work. AND ALL JUST SO THAT IN A COUPLE OF HOURS HE COULD SPECTACULARLY APPEAR ON THE DOORSTEP OF THE AGENCY AND GIVE YOU A GIFT
•At such moments, he comes in a fashionable suit for a spectacular appearance
•You're always embarrassed, but he doesn't seem to care at all; JUST HAVE TIME TO ASK HIM NOT TO KISS YOU IN FRONT OF OTHERS, OH, HE'LL DO IT (just an idiot, what kind of man...)
•On February 14th, he congratulates you in the morning; if he is not a lazy ass, he can cook you a delicious breakfast, for example, toast, inside of which a heart is neatly cut out and fried eggs are filled it
•He tries to do everything for you as on ordinary days, and on this holiday (he just becomes even more clingy and cute)
•He will be too lazy to make you a valentine, but since everyone knows that you are a couple, everyone will congratulate you on the holiday, and Osamu will just (as mentioned earlier) give you a bouquet of flowers and sweets.
NSFW
•TURNS INTO A PERVERT AT 0:00 (okay, he always was and always will be)
•He will definitely go to the lingerie store, choose the most DEPRAVED UNDERWEAR (it will be open lace or something that will cover only the crotch and nipples)
•He'll give it to you in the evening
•No matter how embarrassed you are, trust me, he'll find a way to get you to wear it.
•When you find yourself in this depraved outfit, he will admire you for a long time until he finally breaks down
•There are two options for the outcome of events: HE WILL FUCK YOU OFF SO THAT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO WALK FOR SEVERAL DAYS (not funny, it really is)
•Or it will be too, too gentle, will make everything carefully and too pleasant for you
•It all depends on his mood and the degree of excitement! Well, or for how many days have you refused his requests
•Anyway, in the end, he'll clean everything up, put you to bed, and fall asleep with you, cuddling you against him.
CHUUYA
•Loves and protects you like a diamond
•Grateful to you for everything, especially for being with him despite his dangerous work
•Does everything for you, just like for his favorite doll and princess
•He'll start congratulating you in the morning
•If it's a day off, you go to a nice restaurant where he will order you the most delicious dishes, a glass of wine and a dessert in the shape of a heart
•If it's a working day, he'll apologize for being busy and try to make you breakfast. If he doesn't make it, he'll at least order you something.
•GIVES YOU A LOT OF FLOWERS
•I SWEAR THESE ARE THE BIGGEST BOUQUETS IN ALL OF YOKOHAMA.
•These can be either burgundy, blood roses, or the most delicate and light flowers
•In addition, he will either leave you his credit card with a lot of money so that you can buy everything you want, or he will go shopping with you; If you can't go yourself, he will definitely find out what you want and buy it himself
•You like different shoes (almost all your shoes are heels)
•Therefore,he never skimp on buying you another pair (the HUNDREDTH PAIR)
•He even bought you a separate closet for your shoes.
•He's definitely not giving CHEAP shoes.
•They all cost as much as the agency's budget; on Valentine's Day he will give you something in this style; hearts and red!
•He will buy your favorite wine or open something from his collection
•At work, during a break, he will try to make you an origami heart, something like a valentine
•He'll leave work early to spend more time with you
NSFW
•GET READY.
•He'll kiss every inch of your body
•He will leave bites and hickeys on your neck, thighs, chest, even your stomach
•He'll really enjoy your moans
•He'll be very gentle, unless you ask him to be rude.
•He will do everything slowly and carefully, as if he is afraid that he might harm you.
•You're like a fragile doll in his arms.
•Passionate, sensual kisses are provided for you
•He knows how to please you, so he will use his tongue and fingers
•He will torment you slowly, pressing you against his back, while he gently massages your clit, listening to you whimper
•He enjoys the feeling of you trembling from his touch
•He will tease you and push you to the limit, and then stop abruptly; but it won't last long, and he will give you your sweet release
•Will make you cum first from his fingers and then from his tongue
•He will make sure that he has prepared you well by slowly inserting and removing two fingers from your wet hole
•He'll fuck you very gently
•If you don't ask him for anything, then yes; but if you ask him to be rougher, he will squeeze you into the mattress, face into the pillow, when he fucks you hellishly fast
•After any option, he will do everything necessary for you and him, and then you will fall asleep in an embrace

while we are definitely happy for everyone celebrating, as a romance repulsed aromantic, we will not be reblogging/posting any Valentine's Day content due to always having felt alienated from and disgusted by the holiday
instead, i'd like to say that i hope that every aromantic, demiromantic, greyromantic, cupioromantic, allo aros, and every other arospectrum person, especially those of us who are romance repulsed has a great day, and that they care of themselves and prioritize their own needs for at least today. i'd also like to remind you that it's okay to dislike this holiday and want to avoid it.
it is not for us, even a partnering aromantic like myself has never enjoyed or celebrated it. i've always been forced and obligated to by past partners, and it's always been a tiring, uncomfortable, expensive slog. you should never feel obligated to spend money on something you do not wish to participate in, remember that.
take care of yourselves today, fellow aromantic spectrum people. of course it's okay if you celebrate, but if you don't, do what you want to do, fill your space and time with what you want today. feel no obligation to participate in activities that don't benefit you, spend your money how you please. keep showing people that humanity is full of diverse experiences, and don't force yourself to bend to things that do not suit you. have a great day, fellow aros

I was actually wondering what the Sep Au Brothers feel about fashion? I read an analysis the other day about Rise Donnie and he seems to have the best fashion sense out of them all (and may or may not have his own fashion line?? Idk but I love that idea)
So I was wondering if it was the same or different for your Donnie? Do the Drax brothers have more of a yokai fashion sense or like- idk, what do they think of human fashion?
I have no idea is that makes sense but words are difficult
Tumblr media
I think I've seen the same post actually, haha! Yeah, I really like the idea of Donnie being into fashion, and I don't see why it would be different for AU Donnie. As for the Drax Bros, I mentioned it in This Post but their outfits are mostly inspired by what Draxum wears, which in universe would be explained by them wanting to be like their father by emulating his sense of style. After the whole Redemption Arc thing and the Draxum family decides to abandon their Evil Plan, the trio might start exploring and developing their own taste in fashion.
Leo I feel like would be quite excited to try out human clothes, considering he already has an interest in human stuff. It might actually end up being a bit of a bonding experience for him and Donnie when they properly become friends, with Donnie helping Leo find the right outfits for him!
Mikey and Raph would proably still mostly stick to yōkai clothes, while they do eventually become, not just more open-minded about humanity, but also curious about it, they'd still wanna stick to what they're familiar with.
Actually, with Raph it might be more of a necessity. It would be really hard to find human clothes that'd fit his size, and also work with his spikes. Yōkai on the other hand are a lot more diverse physically than humans, so the people in the Hidden City who work with designing and creating clothes would take that into consideration. So needless to say it would be easier for Raph to find yōkai clothes that fit him rather than human clothes.
Seasons probably don't effect the Hidden City that much, I'd assume? Cuz it's underground? So the Drax turtles might not have that much experince with seasons. Still, I don't think they'd love winter considering the fact that they're reptiles and as such are more sensitive to cold. (I think Draxum would've made sure they're more resistant to cold than normal turtles, it would be quite inconvinient if they started brumating in the middle of a fight just cuz it was snowing lol, but they're still more susceptible to it than mammals)
I think Mikey would appreciate autumn, when all the leaves turn a vibrant orange. Both because as an artist he'd appreciate the autumn aesthetic and because... y'know, orange. I think all the bros would like summer cuz, again, reptile biology, they'd like the heat.
I'd assume yokai would have their own unique holidays that the Draxum family would celebrate, no idea what those would be, though.
Draxum has definitely informed his sons about how dangerous Big Mama is and how bad it would be if she found out that they were literally created with her favorite champion's stolen DNA. They don't like her and know to avoid her, if any business is being done between their family and Big Mama then Draxum is the one who handles most of the negotiations.
And lastly - episodes like Todd Scouts and Snow Day, and then The Mud Dogs - none of these I have figured anything out for of how they would be handled in the AU sooooo no answer for ya there, sorry!

How to answer tough interview questions.
Subscribing to the Harvard Business Review was one of the best decisions I made. I have learned so much about career development, personal branding, and job crafting. This article summarizes some of the questions you will get asked in a behavioral interview (courtesy of HBR) and I have included my responses to all of them. Assume I am seeking a HR role in a Fortune 500 company
Tell me about yourself and describe your background in brief?
How did you hear about this position?
What type of work environment do you prefer?
How do you deal with pressure or a stressful situation?
Do you prefer working independently or on a team?
How do you keep yourself organized when balancing multiple projects?
What did you do in the last year to improve your knowledge?
Tell me about yourself and describe your background in brief?
I grew up in small country in West Africa. I went to a great school through scholarship with the condition that I would pay it forward to the younger generation. So, after high-school I spent two years teaching math to elementary school kids. It was there I discovered my interest of people development. I enjoyed taking a kid from "I don't like math to can I get more homework? When I moved to the U.S for college I chose to study Psychology with a minor in Organizational Development. And my internship as a Human Capital Manager has allowed me to further develop my communication and leadership skills.
How did you hear about this position?
I learned about this position through Stacy Williams. She was one of the panelists on the fireside chat I convened in my school on the importance of women in leadership positions. I followed up with her through a coffee chat. She really enjoyed her job and the company culture. Her enthusiasm about her work encouraged me to apply and I am really excited to be going through the interview process.
What type of work environment do you prefer?
I thrive in environments where I am constantly learning. A place where each days brings a fresh set of challenges that I can solve. I also like working with teams where we can collaborate on tasks and brainstorm solution-oriented ideas. In my former internship I worked with an incredible team as a project manager in the human resources division and I worked on certain projects where I had full creative control on the outcome. I enjoyed the balance of both.
How do you deal with pressure or a stressful situation?
Stressful situations are inevitable and I learned to navigate them successful throughout my college career and my various internships. The first time I came across a stressful situation was in my Sophomore year. I worked as a customer service representative at a big department store and it was holiday season. You can imagine the amount of pressure - long lines of customers all waiting to get attended too. Instead of succumbing to the pressure I made sure to really understand the pain point of each customer which were long wait times and stock outs. If we were out of one brand of sparkling water, I would quickly recommend a different brand. If lines were long, I would go to the floor to help the bagging process. Customers left feeling satisfied with their shopping experience. Overtime, I have realized that the key to dealing with pressure is willingly choosing to complete the tasks with a positive mindset instead of worrying.
Do you prefer working independently or on a team?
I like a mix of both. I enjoy working on a team. The process of strategizing with my teammates on the best way to approach a problem allows for critical analysis and diverse points of view. Wh I also build camaraderie and trust with them while we tackle big problems. I enjoy working alone as well because I get to see how I approach different problems and compare my current performance to my previous ones. Working alone also gives me an opportunity to get feedback from my managers on my progress or areas of improvement. I like a balance of both.
How do you keep yourself organized when balancing multiple projects?
I am used to working on multiple projects. A typical semester for me is juggling between my classes, weekend job, extracurricular activities, and passion projects. So to stay on top of my deadlines and due dates I like to prioritize my tasks based on their level of urgency and importance. I use the time blocking method to schedule time for my projects. I take advantage of tools like Google calendar to keep track of due dates and appointments and Notion to manage big projects.
What did you do in the last year to improve your knowledge?
Last summer, I took some time off to really learn about veganism. It seemed intimidating at first because I did not know enough. So I turned to research to understand the facts. I began making home-cooked meals by following recipes from people I trusted and liked on YouTube. As I began noticing changes in my gut health and productivity levels, I started a blog to share my experiences. Now my blog has over 500 enthusiastic vegans who are on the same journey as I am. it was one of the best investment I made in myself.

DARKSIDERS: The Horsemen and Day of the Dead
Feliz Día de Muertos!! I know im a day late, but i still wanted to finish this as soon as possible. So as i was prepping the offrenda with my family for dia de muertos, i got curious and wondered how each of the horsemen would react to the celebration!
Especially Death since this celebration circles around well- death.
[Note: These are just based on my experience since i know different places celebrate it differently. If i missed anything or i got smth wrong about DOTD, please let me know.]
DEATH
Tumblr media
- He finds it intriguing that humans have a holiday where mourning the dead is exchanged for celebration.
- He's quick to understand the importance of remembering one as they lived rather than how they died. He can respect that.
- With all the colorful skulls decorated around town, some kids would offer to paint his mask, which he kindly refuses.
- He mostly watches and learns as you and your family prepare for the celebration, talking in all the colors and the smells of the flowers and sweet pastries.
- As he watches you set up the offrenda, you talk to him about all the fun memories of your loved ones who are now passed and seeing how you talk about them with happiness instead of grief, he's even more curious about this holiday.
- It would take some convincing to even get him to try some of the pastries. But he takes a silent liking to the Pan de Muerto. You can tell by how he takes bits of yours when you're not looking. He smiles under the mask when you call him out on it.
- Death may not be quite fond to the idea of the smiling skeletons' decorations sometimes as a way to 'mock' death but understands that humor is a part of the cultural holiday.
- If Death has the ability to see souls here, he'd see the true meaning of DOTD as both living and dead relatives sit together, enjoying the meals that were brough to them on the offrendas, and listening to the joyous stories told about them from their living relatives. He'd see that despite them not being alive, family always finds their way back to one another. Whether he'd tell you he sees your relatives smiling at you and your family is up to him.
- Death wouldn't care much to watch the Catrina contests, tho he agrees with the message La Catrina brings, that no matter how rich or poor you are, no matter what color or background you're from, in the end we all end up as skeletons.
- Hearing that message, he tries not to think about how little time he has with you. He has been there since the beginning of humanity, and he was there when they were wiped out and when they were brought back by his hand. He knows at some point you won't be around anymore. This holiday gives him a reminder to cherish the time he has with you now.
WAR
Tumblr media
- War might be interested in the holiday from the idea that it's about "honoring the dead." He gets more invested when you tell him it connects to Aztec mythology and how the Aztecs used to bring offerings that would be useful for their relatives in their journey through the Mictlán/underworld. And you had to tell War that weapons weren't necessary anymore when he tried to bring a big sword to the offrenda for your relatives. But it's sat carefully next to it instead. "Just in case." He tells you.
- War quite enjoys the vibrant colors and scent of the Marigold flowers. You tell him it brings out his eyes, and you get a kick out of how quickly he hides his flustered expression. Frankly its only fitting since Marigold are considered as 'bright as the sun' for the spirits to find their way back to their families. And for you, he reminds you much like the sun.
- He also likes the gladiolus flowers since their name comes from Latin times meaning honor or victory.
- As you show War around in the cemetery and all the traditions of how DOTD is celebrated, he finds himself more fascinated with how rich and diverse the culture is. Its nothing like he's seen before. He wonders if Death would like this holiday.
- Not a chance are you getting him to get his face painted, no matter how much you beg him to do it. He'll settle on you getting your face painted instead.
- The parades are a new addition to the holiday, and he's impressed by the creative floats and costumes humans made for the occasion. He'll enjoy you watching the contest for La Catrinas, but if you ever decided to compete for next year he would cross through entire realms to find the most magnificent outfit for you to make sure you'd win.
- He questions why humans choose to celebrate the dead on this day rather than mourning. You tell him that Day of the Dead is the time of the year that families come together and remember the ones who aren't with us anymore. It's also the time to reflect and appreciate life while we're still part of it. Hearing this makes him realize he does not have much time with you. Human lives are short compared to his. But he tries not to show his sadness, especially on a holiday of celebration of life and death. So he vows to protect you, keep you safe and happy for as long as you live. And he'll honor your memory both in life and in death..
STRIFE
Tumblr media
- Strife is mostly there for the food and drinks sold around. He'll eat and try almost anything. But he likes the elotes con chamoy along with other spicy foods.
- As for pastries, he very much enjoys churros (possibly with a lot of toppings). But what you did not expect was for him to eat an entire sugar skull after you guys decorated them.
- This guy would so be on board on getting his face painted as a colorful skeleton if it means playfully mocking his brother Death 'for the occasion.'
- Strife would enjoy watching the folklorico dancers dance to the rythm of the music, the way the dancers swing and move their dresses to the flow he finds very memerizing to look at. (If you know a bit about folklorico, he might ask you to teach you some dance lessons, and also because he thinks he would look cool in those fancy suits. )
- Strife wants to be involved in the festivities as much as he possibly can. He'll help you carry things to the cemetery to prep the tombstones and offrendas for DOTD. And his eyes catch a glimpse not on the brightly orange Marigolds that illuminate the cemetery in its colors and aroma, but on the particular plum-colored flowers you set up in front of the stone of a relative. When he asks, you tell him they're called "mano de pantera," which means "panther's paw." And instead of explaining why, you gently place him fingers on the flowers to feel its soft texture. And immediately, he's found his new favorite flower.
- When you and him sit next to the offrenda, you talk about all the fun memories you had with each person whose pictures are on it. At one point he asks why you guys choose to celebrate death on this day, so you tell him it's to remind us about our loved ones who passed by how they lived rather than how they died. Its the time of the year when they can cross to the living realm and visit us for the celebration. It's also a time to appreciate the life we've got while it lasts. When he hears those words, he reminisces on the time he's spent with you since the apocalypse. He's happy he got the chance to meet you and celebrate this holiday of life and death, and he wants to make sure the time he spends with you is the best time of your life before you leave this realm.
- Without you or any of the horsemen knowing, he keeps a photograph of you somewhere safe at his place or on his person. So that when the time of year comes and you're not longer in the living realm, he sets up an offrenda just for you, to remind him that you're not as far apart as he thinks.
FURY
Tumblr media
- Fury was very confused as to why humans would celebrate the death of their family members. But once you explain it a bit further and invite her to see for herself, she agrees if it means understanding a bit more about your culture.
- Fury doesn't get entirely involved with the games and festivities as much as Strife but she would enjoy a face painting session with you, she would make sure your skull makeup looks fantastic.
- But if you do get her into one of the games, she'll go all out just to win a prize for you (hopefully without breaking anything.)
- Fury is the only horseman who seems to dislike the marigold flowers. She says the smell is intoxicating, but she takes a liking to the red and white gladiolas. To you, they remind you of her not only by their colors but also by how they stand tall and proud, much like Fury.
- She most enjoys the sweet pastries compared to her brothers. Her favorite pastry being the Flan con chocolate.
- Once you tell Fury about the connection of DOTD the Aztecs and how they believed Mictlancíhuatl or the "Lady of the Dead" helped in aiding their loved one to the afterlife, she casually tells you "Ive met her once, she was nice." And she walks away smirking before you begin to chase her down with so many questions.
- At first she wasn't very excited to seeing the contestants for las Catrinas, but once she saw the very creative costumes that peaked her interest, she vowed that next year you and her will compete and will win.
- With Fury, she's always seen the death of humankind as a tragedy, tho she did not pity them about it at first. But the way that she sees the humans here celebrating death and even welcoming it as part of life. It very much contrasts the fear that she's seen in the faces of those she's saved when it all went down. Which makes her even more curious about the holiday.
- The more she opens herself to the celebration, the more she realizes that time here is short. And there will come a time when you won't be around for her to torment and mess with. She remembers the first time she met you in the ruin of your own home and seeing you now, alive and happily talking with family members and honoring your deceased ones. She wonders if she didn't save you, would she have seen your picture on the offrenda. Fury brushes those thoughts aside, for all that matters to her is that you're still here, and she knows how grateful you are for her saving you that day. If only she could express how grateful she is to have met you and to celebrate with your family on this special occasion.

Earth 101: A Manual for the Visiting Cybertronian
Chapter Two : Earth Weather
Earth, with its vast biomes and diverse terrains, has a variety of weather patterns that can change drastically from day to day, and have particular seasons with which they are often divided.
This has also been the cause of …particular issues for the newcomer Cybertronian, as the climate can have adverse effects on our biomechanics.
As a gentle reminder, please be sure to thank your medic when leaving the med bay after repairs.A bottle or two of high-grade Energon also goes a long way.
Divided into the Northern and Southern hemispheres, Earth cycles through 4 seasons, each with their own type of weather.
The four seasons by which the planet goes through, as labeled as:
Spring : Temperate to warm weather, usually brings the thawing of winter and replenishing of flora and fauna alike.
Summer: The warmest of the seasons, the planting of crops and their growth occurs here, as well as many an activity in the sun
Fall or Autumn: Harvest season, known to be the beginning of a cooling in the weather and when most flora experience a change in color to prepare for the next season.
Winter: The coldest of the seasons, this season is also known as the ‘holiday season’ due to many Earth holidays occurring during the jours, or rather, Terran months it overlaps.
These seasons last roughly 3 months each, but due to changes in the Earth’s ozone layer in a phenomenon known as ‘global warming’, which has caused quite severe changes to the climate of Earth in some places.
Primus help them, we can only hope this does not continue with our presence here.
The Northern hemisphere is known to host generally colder climates, whilst the Southern hemisphere hosts warmer climates.
The planet’s equator is the centralized area of its warmest zone.
This said, interestingly enough, when it is summer in one hemisphere, it is often winter in the other, in a rather fascinating exchange!
They oppose each other, meaning that through the 3 months it is the opposite season in the other region.
The equator tends to average around the same weather all of the orbital cycle, known as a year, around the
Truly intriguing, the various weather patterns of Earth.
Earth is known to have various forms of weather, ranging from sunny days, cloudy, foggy, rainy or even snow.
That said, Earth weather can also be quite dangerous.
Storms such as hurricanes, tsunamis, tropical storms, and blizzards can devastate entire sections of Earth, and even wipe entire cities off the map.
We have witnessed some of these devastating incidents.
We only hope that humans can find peace after these tragedies.
With each type of weather of course, come certain rules and warnings about potential hazards that could occur.
For example, not even the greatest of the Autobots is immune to the icy roads of the northernmost parts of the world, as our beloved Prime informed us after he spun out due to a particularly vicious patch of black ice amidst a snow storm.
Luckily no harm was done, as he crashed into the snow on the roadside. All that was harmed was perhaps his dignity when he informed us about the incident in a kind reminder to not repeat his actions, so as to avoid harm to ourselves and to others on the road.
Ever so watchful is he.
The same cannot be said for …others within our ranks however.
Incidents with wild weather reported for documentation within this field guide are as follows:
A scientist studying the weather patterns of Earth amidst a particularly wild storm learned what the function of the aptly named lightning rod was. By becoming one involuntarily. Thankfully, said patient now seeks shelter when such storms come to pass.
One of our scouts learned the hard way that driving through fog can be a disorienting and frightening experience. It is not for the faint of Spark. Proceed with caution
Hailstorms. Spheres of ice sometimes the size of Scraplets that falls from the skies. It is as terrifying as it sounds.
One too many Autobot and Con alike have tried to become what is known on Earth as 'storm chasers'. Medical Officer Ratchet implores that the next to attempt such, will only learn from being swirled within a tornado and that the damage from such an event is very tedious to repair.
Please do not attempt to drive through flooded areas after heavy rains. Your engine will become full of water and proceed to stall. It is not worth splashing each other to have this happen.
High winds can push even the largest of us off the road. And we do mean this literally.
We advise parking indoors when choosing to remain in vehicle mode or keeping your heating on when in cold weather. Your vehicle mode can in fact be encased in ice entirely if not careful. It is as annoying and freezing as it sounds.
For those who are flight inclined, be they Decepticon, Autobot or neutral, be aware of snow, rain, lightning, hail, and more, as they can blind the pilot if particularly severe. Even the well known Starscream has been known to crash land due to hail and sleet causing less than optimal flying conditions.
Heatwaves [No we do not mean the Sigma-17 leader, Heatwave] can be cause for our biomechs to overheat and falter, requiring significant cooling, as there have in fact been cases of engines catching on fire or outright shutting down from the intense heat.
Beware of blizzards, as we do not wish anyone to freeze within the piles of snow known to loosen in this.
Earthquakes can cause catastrophic chains of events to occur. Please be aware that aftershocks may occur afterwards.
The rescue team known as Sigma-17 has told us of a good many weather incidents like those mentioned within this chapter. Their testimony was vital for this chapter, and we thank them for their duty in rescue operations of all manner.
Please be sure to contact an official, medic or rescue service in the event of an emergency or accident, no matter the severity.
This concludes our initial overview of Earth Weather and Climates. Direct appropriate queries to the proper channels for more information.

Note
first - i just want to say thank you for making this blog. it’s so important to know that we aren’t alone in the many things we’re experiencing and feeling right now, especially when so many of us have become painfully isolated as of late.
i apologize for how long this one is going to be.
i’ve been feeling so, so alone recently. my tumblr dash has been cut down to just a handful of jewish blogs that i can trust to be kind and understanding and nuanced, but it means that the majority of the content i see is about antisemitism and the war. after a while, it becomes draining to scroll through what feels like endless sadness. i turned to looking at fandom tags instead of following fandom blogs, but it makes me feel equally as insane to click on a blog about race cars and immediately see a post with 60k notes calling what’s happening in gaza “the new holocaust”. i started going back on twitter, but fan accounts on there too are only safe for a day or so before the account owner shares some awful antisemitic tweet from an account known to be an anti-jewish extremist. i went back on instagram briefly, but i was soon afraid to look at people’s stories for fear i’d see something terrible and lose yet another trusted person from my life.
in person, i have to walk by signs saying “zionism = genocide” and hastily scribbled palestinian flags with the colors in the wrong spot on my way to class every day. a wall across from my apartment says “BDS” in giant letters. i haven’t opened my curtains in months because of it. a “protest” of about 25 people stood in the center of campus and yelled and waved their fists in passing students’ faces, so jewish students didn’t go to class on any of the days they gathered. i only have one non jewish friend left at school - the rest abandoned me because i either called them out on antisemitic rhetoric or refused to go along with the idea that anyone, palestinian or israeli, muslim or jewish, is less than human. i had taken several of them along to our hillel’s seder in the past. i don’t know who i can safely go with this year. i have a few jewish friends, of course, but i love bringing goyische friends with little connection to judaism along to experience how joyful and loving jewish holidays can be.
it feels like there is no escape from this fucking war. it sickens me that it’s the only thing people pretend to care about - where is the attention for sudan, ukraine, armenia, uyghurs in china, syria, guyana? how is putting an emoji in your twitter bio or putting a translucent overlay of the palestinian flag on your tumblr icon any sort of real activism? how have we gone from “antisemitism is wrong” to “(((zionists))) control the world media”? it seems like the war is a fandom to these people. it seems like nobody cares enough to fully read and think critically about what they share, let alone do real research beyond looking at an infographic somebody shared on their instagram story. they’ll add on “don’t forget your click today!” to an unrelated twitter thread that went viral, flip the bird at the local starbucks, and put “won’t you free my palestine” on their instagram stories. they’ll anonymously tell a jew online to commit suicide. they’ll feel secure in the knowledge that they’re the perfect leftist, that this is somehow “good trouble”. all this praxis, and nothing to show for it but massive surges in hate crimes against jews. good job, guys! you singlehandedly saved every innocent person in gaza!
it’s isolating. it’s scary. jews can’t mourn. jews can’t be angry. jews can’t disagree. jews can’t suffer. jews can’t be whole, complex people with diverse beliefs and experiences. suffering is a game, and the goal is to hurt the most, scream the most, die the most, all to appease western leftists whose closest connection to war and violence was reading the hunger games in middle school.
i’m tired of it all. i want a peaceful and just resolution to the war. i want the mindless hatred everywhere to stop. i want to be able to scroll through social media and see nothing but fandom. i want to walk through campus with my magen david showing and all the friends i lost by my side on the way to the hillel seder. i want to open my curtains again. i know the experience of one diaspora jew is nothing compared to what people living in israel and palestine are currently going through, yet i still need this all to end. i don’t think any of us can go on like this, but we must, because we have. for thousands of years, we’ve gone on. that still doesn’t mean it has to be this hard all the time.
all i can think is “now we are slaves. next year may we be free.” now we are slaves to hatred and violence and suffering. next year may we all be free. next year may we all be in jerusalem.

Dilf Sebastian pt. 3 Christmas drabble (stand alone but the series is cute)
Pt. 1 Pt. 2
A/N: I gave youngin a name.. or rather a nickname? Ro. so when you see it that's why. No beta.
.
Sebastian wasn't really a Christmas creature. He found the whole event terribly troublesome and what reprieve there was to be found did not make up for the nuisance of it all.
Thankfully, you were simple. You'd found joy in the mundanity. He sometimes wondered if you did it for his sake but it wasn't his place to ask. Or maybe he didn't want to.
The season had officially exploded onto society. Not a single place could be seen without Santa impersonators or twinkling lights which meant it was soon to creep its way into your home.
Even so there was a level of decorum that was preserved in the home you'd built. where there would usually be string lights there was candles. where there was excess sugar was the in season fruits and warm ciders.
where there was belief in Santa there was myth books and fables. You'd never told Ro that Santa was or wasn't real but allowed them to view things through the means literature. Saint Nick, Joulupukki, Gryla and Krampus.
Ro had gotten in trouble for bringing a book about Krampus, their favorite Christmas figure into class for show and tell.
A qualm Sebastian quelled with a reaming of the school board for the lack of diverse winter holiday representation in school. They compromised by dropping Ro's suspension in favor that they not speak of the matter again and they be allowed to share their books at will.
If there were more complaints there was never any word of it.
Tonight's activity was one you loved most. Drying Oranges and cinnamon for garland. you'd spent near a half hour picking the perfect oranges and a bag of cinnamon sticks.
Sebastian was appalled when you'd put the cinnamon pinecones in the shopping cart. He took them out promptly.
Suddenly what was meant to be an hour project became a days side quest.
He drove you both out of the city right then. You had no idea where he was taking you, but it was usually best not to question his determined brow.
The roads became windy and buildings sparce. Trees rushed by in a blur or browns and greens. When he finally did pull off there wasn't a sign of civilization to be seen.
He bundles Ro up in his scarf, wrapping it once around their head and again around their neck. Next he stripes his coat drapping it over your shoulders.
The forest was too thick for the inches of snowfall, except in small patches but ice and chill still nipped at you.
"won't you get cold?" Ro asks.
"Are birds often cold in the winter?" He retorts, mostly kidding.
It was meant to bring back the conversation they'd had as a family when Ro revealed they knew he was a "Crow." but when he turned he wasn't met with the excited wonder and curiosity but inquisition and sadness.
"I don't know," they say, looking up into the trees. "I hope not."
Sebastian paused. What was it like in a body filled to the brim with empathy? it seemed so harrowing to experience. He couldn't even say that he knew if birds got cold because he hadn't ever wondered about the creatures.
"Birds that don't migrate in the winter puff out their feathers and store fat to keep themselves warm," you read from the google page on your phone.
"Sort of like bears," they ask.
"Sort of like bears," you agree.
The answer seems to satisfy them because they wander off immediately.
"Thank you," Sebastian whispers.
You hum. "birds might not get cold, but I do. What are we doing out here?"
He looks up at the trees. "we're collecting pinecones for the garland."
He showed you and Ro which were preferred and you all searched.
within the hour you had two bags of pinecones. Enough to conclude the search. On the way back to the car Ro darted between trees a flash of red from Sebastians scarf zooming around.
"Look!" Ro shouts, pointing just out of your sight.
As you and Sebastian get close Ro sprints to a pine tree just the size of themselves.
"It's me sized." Ro says.
"It is," you say with a sniff. both yours and Ro's nose had become bright and runny.
"can this be our Christmas tree?"
"No" you say just as Sebatian says. "I don't see why not."
the two of you look at one another. "we don't have a saw or a way to get it home."
He smiles. "Let me worry about that, here you take these pinecones and I'll meet you home."
you drive carefully home and when you pull into the driveway Sebastian opens the front door welcoming you back.
"How did you beat us here?" you ask.
"He flew here obviously." Ro says finitely.
There was nothing else to be said. you knew better than to press for a better explanation and Ro's was likely the closest there would be to one.
Inside was the tree you'd just seen in the woods, positioned perfectly on the corner of the living room.
Ro struts to it none the wiser of how amazing its appearance is. "It's perfect!" they say.
"You really are incredibly, you know that?" you whisper to him.
It was only in this decade could he be seen doing acts like this and be called incredible and not "Demon or witch."
He'd felt affection more in the last eight years than he had in the previous thousand. It overwhelmed him in uncomfortable ways so he hummed and took back his scarf and coat to hang next to the door.
The night was further spent with Sebastian teaching you and Ro how to make cinnamon pinecones and how to harvest pine nuts.
the tree was decorated with dried oranges, roasted cinnamon sticks and little white candles.
before bed during the nightly wind down you all made pesto flat bread with the aforementioned pine nuts and re read Ro's favorite version of the Krampus tale.

So yeah, that happened… (Not as bad as it looks, though. The top half is books I own and read this month, not books I've acquired.)
November has been a month of highs and lows for me. Mostly lows, if I'm being honest. The US election kicked my brain back to 2020 for a couple days and I don't think I've really reset yet. (It's taken me three years and counting to reset from 2020 itself so I'm not surprised.) For any American reading this, I'm still very saddened for you and I wish there was something I could do beyond listening and sympathizing. I wish the world was a better place to live in.
And speaking of 2020 mode, I haven't been writing. I was at a crossroads at the end of October with a difficult scene, and even though I've fixed it so it's better, I still haven't continued. It's hard for me to write cheery, upbeat things when I'm scared and angry, and work's getting busier for the holidays, and both Bake Offs I follow were airing and that just seemed more important. At least this time, it's definitely writer's block rather than a terror of traumatizing people by writing diversely. (2020 was fun, y'all.)
And I also didn't write for five days because my mom and sister and I went to Disneyland. This was, of course, the high of the month! It was good to spend that time together, and do the rides and the whole experience, and see Disneyland as an adult. I'm especially glad we went when we did because I don't think I'm ever going to visit the States again.
It was also a fairly lukewarm reading month for me, which I don't think it helping the mental stuff. The best book I read was intense and heavy, a few of the others also dealt with dark stuff, and pretty much everything was "fine". No new favourites, though I've added the rest of Claudia Gray's Austenian mysteries to my TBR and I'm still thoroughly enjoying the Lady Trent novels. A couple of the other books (the Clarke, the Stearns) were ones I was hyped for but which didn't live up to expectations.
That said, for all that it's my lowest ranked book, The Price of the Stars was surprisingly fun. It's completely mindless, cliched space opera that reads like an off-brand Star Wars novel and I'm sure I'll have just as much fun with the sequel (also on my physical TBR). But I also recognize that the writing's on par with mediocre fanfiction or cult 1980s B-movies.
Books and otherwise, here's hoping for a better December.
And now, as always, here’s my list of everything I read this month, in the rough order of how glad I was to have read them.

Litha, Summer Solstice, Midsummer – circa June 22
Litha 2024: A Witches Guide to the Pagan Summer Solstice Celebration
Litha, also known as the Summer Solstice, is a pagan holiday celebrated on or around June 21st in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the longest day and shortest night of the year, and marks the official start of summer. Litha stands as one of the four 'lesser sabbats,' marking the pinnacle of the solar calendar. In pagan traditions, it is a time to celebrate the power of the sun and the abundance and growth of the natural world. It is also seen as a time of balance between light and dark, and a turning point in the year when the days begin to grow shorter and the nights longer. This holiday is a time of abundance, growth, and light, and is associated with a variety of correspondences, including colours, crystals, deities, traditions, and ways to observe the holiday.
