Ending this semester as a STEM and liberal arts double major means that I’m finding all the musical songs about the dangers of burn out and blasting it at full volume on my headphones.

The narrative - “see how this main character shouldn’t do this set of behaviors and should enjoy her life instead of focusing on getting an A? That her worth as a human being is not defined by the grade she gets on this test, but is rather an innate fact!”

I’ve been listening to the people in the apartment below me have arguments for two years now and I still can’t figure out what language they’re speaking. The best I can narrow it down is like if Portuguese and Hebrew had a baby. Is that a common pidgin combination

Life as a STEM and liberal arts double major at the moment is that in every possible second, I am studying.

I have not put down my books all day. I took five minutes to go touch grass and stare off into the abode of campus, questioning my life choices.

I decided I’ve made pretty good ones. So I got back to work.

Then I had a minor crash out because it turns out I read the completely wrong book and wrote a completely wrong essay. But everything was fixed with caffeine, spite, and the will of the lord.

Me, waving my hands frantically in emphasis- I worked 6 AM to 10 today! Then I go back 1 to 4! I had five French essays this week, and three STEM exams next week.

And Rav Jacob wants me to learn Hebrew, but I keep on saying all the words in a Parisian accent - I’ve never been to Paris! I know the espresso shots in a latte are excessive but I need them, you know?

Barista, tentatively taking up pen - so that’s regular milk, then?

My Rabbi: Shabbat observance is about rest - where we abstain from all sorts of work such as creation. It recenters us, and most importantly, gives a lot of us a break from our chaotic creative habits. (Looks at me pointedly )

Me: (with paint splatters all the way up my arms, sore wrists, and eye bags from routinely staying up till 4 AM to write.) i personally have no idea what you possibly could be talking about .

More than once i have had a younger/same age queer person come up to me in public settings and say something about “finding other gays” or clearly clocking me as nonbinary and I’m like :)))))))) hey buddy I’m here with my conservative parents can you fucking not out me :))))))))

Just say you like my outfit or hair and move on, fuck even tell me you like my shoelaces. Don’t call me gay and limp your wrist at me when you don’t even know me? Especially when there’s a bunch of ppl around?
