a show doesn't necessarily have to be ABOUT queerness to BE a queer show. it's a cultural dialect that cishets don't quite speak.
edit: i gotta clarify that the shows do indeed still have to have actual queer characters in them to count

Hey, we've seen some fantastic animated series lately. If you haven't already, run right now and check out
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Arcane
Blue Eye Samurai
Scavengers Reign
Chainsaw Man
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
Tear Along the Dotted Line
Love Death + Robots
Arcane and Blue Eye Samurai compete for the best animated series I've ever seen, of all time, and they're both ongoing. That's wild. What gorgeous animation. Scavengers Reign is a wonderful sci-fi series that's actually original, and I'm sad to say that's a rarity. It shouldn't be! I'll let you discover the rest. Just a reminder that Love Death + Robots is an anthology, and as usually this entails hits and misses. But the hits are SO good.
Other good series that are not groundbreaking or anything in terms of animation (which is generally on purpose: most of them aim to emulate a specific established style, and succeed), but they still get the job done, and are fun to watch:

Castlevania (and Castlevania: Nocturne)
Star Trek: Lower Decks
Invincible
The Legend of Vox Machina
Dragon Age: Absolution
Good stuff!

🌈 wanna do something cool with me?
like, cool in the internet sense. because i have compiled all the data and i was right: queer shows are getting canceled twice as often. and earlier, too. we lost HALF of them this year!
i have all the data in a carrd (there's SO MUCH data) and it's kind of shaking out to be like. a legit thesis.
so even if your fave show is returning or finished already, it's still important to know this is going on in our current cultural landscape. and while LGBTQ book bans rise and our rights take hits, we need those messages that queer people deserve to be seen and loved.
i talked with a friend who organizes, and we're gonna make it a cross-fandom hashtag going live on Dec 16. 🥰
if you want to participate, reach out to me via message! anyone is welcome to join in.
even if your fandom is safe, even if you don't have a ton of followers. the goal is to get attention - not just for current rep, but for canceled shows too. it'll be a great opportunity to share why your fave matters to you, too.
stay silly ✌️
edit: idk why i wanted y'all to ask for it, the data is here

Love that Star Trek accurately portrays humans in the future as being DTF practically anything. Works wonders for diplomacy.
"Sure I don't find you attractive, but give me ten minutes, your Excellency, and I'll find someone on this ship who's into tentacles and slime."
We may not be super intelligent or super strong, but give humans a chance. We're annoyingly likeable, tenacious, stubborn, and attracted to the weirdest things.

i guess what i really wanted for odo was for him to find a Great Link elsewhere--to be so intimately connected to something beyond the fascistic fear of the other changelings--to start a new community of changelings that didn't spend every second as a unified soup but as quite literally everything--birds and rocks and particles and everything suited for every environment--to find his ending/new beginning in a more distinct multiplicity. i wanted this to be the thing that broke the united ranks of the dominion, the simple concept of the necessity of uncertainty in muchness, and all the ways changelings are the best suited to explore it, instead of a simple illness. or at least, i wanted there to be both? bc it's not like mortality and uncertainty don't cause the same fear. i don't know--there was just something delicate about the character, something delicate that felt to me like the whole point of the character. delicate but not fragile. like his obligations to his kind could've been a little different than them all learning a lesson. i think his thesis statement should've echoed lwaxana saying, "i can swim."

2023 we've got:
That unknown translator saying they never changed the Supernatural script
SNW spirk meeting for the first time and straight up kissing in vulcan style at first contact (plus maybe aos4?)
Bisexual Jaskier with a male love interest
WWDITS S5 Nandor knowing word for word the letter Guillermo wrote him
Season 2 of good omens with aziracrow kiss
Season 2 of OFMD "I love everything about you" that is still airing
Lokius arising
BBC Merlin possible comeback
You know... if they announce NBC Hannibal season 4 I think that could save the internet.
