Yeah I need some of y’all to stop using ‘YA’ as a catch-all term for immature and lacking depth because it is revealing a lot about the value you see in both the authors and target audience of those books

#the way some of you got from praising the hunger games as the pinnacle of literature #then turn around and say all ya is stupid #some ya isn’t great. same with adult lit.#y’all just don’t analyze what you read #and don’t respect teenagers #I’m gonna argue the gritty adult novel that just seems to hate women #is doing a whole lot less #than the novel-in-verse ya retelling of Arachne #dealing with discrimination on grounds of gender and disability and living with the aftermath of sa and how structures and systems are buil #to fail you and the people who have crashed through the glass ceiling will not risk their own position to help you #the book is called Spin fyi and it’s incredible

The stranger returns, with two steaming mugs and some food laid out on a slim metal tray etched with flowers. #agggtm is so dependent on text (in my mind at least) that i knew they'd have to change a lot #and i saw the episode lengths and amount of episodes and was like:#with how much is gonna get cut and the way the book is structured this could work #haha no #its not funny its meant to be funny it just hurts #10 minutes until we even see the deuteragonist #why do pips friends like...hate her?? that's not banter thats uncomfortable where are my quips #also what was that opening scene???#not the andi thing that was kind of cool #the shop bit???#where is my walk towards the singh household from behind pips head with her face being reflected on the door??#why must everything be conflict???#this is not how epq's work???#the transcripted interviews could have been so cool with pip typing them along to the recording and cutting to the interview #usually its movies and shows getting straight to the point but in the book ravi was introduced on the second page #casting was incredible though #other than matthew baynton #too pretty and cool and joy inducing on sight to be elliott ward #screaming on the ceiling #agggtm #a good girls guide to murder #rereading the books to console myself #don't know if i want to suffer through more in the hopes it'll get better or abandon ship while i still can

cupboard Finally cleaned up from our 'vacant apartment leaks water through entire building' adventure. some of the 1970s press-board Definitely warped, and i gently wiped the whole interior down w/ clorox wipes and gave the water stains a spray of lysol Just For Fun. i put down new liners, too, bc what the fuck im already in there so i might as well

next on the list is rewashing our entire mug collection, getting the rest of the dishes done, and disinfecting the entire bar and the half of the kitchen exposed to Mystery Apartment Water

#i waited until my day off so i could do it in bursts #and ALSO so i could make sure that cupboard had 1000000% Completely Dried Out #maintenance was like 'its fine! nothing structural was damaged it attaches at the ceiling :)'#but like bestie..... All My Mugs Go In That Cabinet #and the water leaked from the ceiling down the back of the pressboard and through the bottom #it was by no means saturated dont get me wrong #they got the leak fixed fast enough i only had Three Water Leaks in my apartment #but again. pressboard cupboards. from the 70s.#im not risking our entire mug collection (several of which are irreplaceable or gifts) on a Hunch

i think the most annoying thing abt loving urban fantasy and school settings and having a lot o my blorbos in them is, like, i´m *HOMESCHOOLED????* have been since 4th grade, but still the school i went to probably isnt a good frame of refference. so im lest just completely lost and looking for refferences is practically impossible, bc *WHO DIDNT GO TO SCHOOL??* amirite???

so i´m low key scared i´ll write something just completely uninformed which will be noticed inmediately by everyone, and i´ll be put in a cage in the plaza and get tomatos thrown at me :((

#dsfjhdhhsgd #shut up sheo #i dont think the school i went to was a good frame of refference bc it was just *so* messy #it literally closed down #the structure was a 1 floor house that was later turned into 2 floors #so the second floor had weird inclinations (yk; from where water used to drain when that thang was a *ceiling*)#and class structure wise we had 2 teachers; one for spanish and one for english #both doing regular school curriculums...#we were supposed to have art and pe teachers but they *never* showed up #regular blackouts by the end also #there were so few students thatt my class (14 people) was the biggest #also one time they organized a movie day thing and tried to play srek 3 on a projector #shrek 3 was still in the cinema...#anyways; vaguely weird school #another day at recess a girl from my class had a palm tree trunk fall in front of her??? and mess up her forehead???? <- left a scar #idk man there was a termite problem #... and a lizard problem #(eating the termites)#i only noticed the lizard one bc the big fans in the recess area didnt work; the switch to turn them on was crooked and if you looked insid #there were a couple hatched lizard eggs!#okok HOW did this turn into a school traumadump session aahsajshuajsh

#autism #they just help me see clearly and they aren't all fuzzy and dim like some lights #and I have *very* mixed feelings on lamps #like they'd better be easy af to turn on and be the fuck out of my way #the ceiling light takes up no space and brings a crisp structural lighting to my surroundings #I got bad vision y'all and while I *do* have light sensitivity it mainly applies to sunlight #they *do* have to not make the room hot though. I hate that shit #actually autistic

I think I'll be a miner actually

#got sent down a mine today for work #n that was very cool got to see the big rock crsuher called joy at work #very dark and angular mine they dig it so theres collumns of rock to hold the ceiling so its kinda like a gr #a grid #with these reflective rods that hang from the ceiling to navigate by and they shine in the light from your headlamp #and then went around the above ground factory and they have an automatic warehouse #and it was something insane like 5 storys tall and only 5 rows of actual racking #and these humongous crains that would come pick up a pallet then dissappear into the darkness that encroached from the far end of warehouse #and also the homogeniser which was like a giant round silo with a snake of rock around yhe floor #and a big raking machine that pulled rock down to be processed #really really cool lots of very big machines and very big structures today feeling not very normal about it all

Germany #seeing “soli deo gloria 1482” etched into an upstairs wall #seeing the trinity represented in stained glass #seeing how real people made stone look like living plants and then made it part of the ceiling #watching the vaulted arch structure develop over time #going past Wernerskappelle on the river and looking straight thru the building where all the stained glass used to be #knowing they still have concerts and council meetings in that great space #seeing a rebuilt church whose stones still have scorch marks from the bombs in WWII #listing to the way the stone echoes every noise #how cool it is inside in the summer #the statue of st. bartholomew (?) tearing his cloak in half #singing Elaine Hagenburg's 'Alleluia' in the exact center of a cathedral and hearing four seconds of echo when we were done #seeing people discover how to stack rocks all the way up to heaven without them falling down #I'm not catholic but they went off with the aesthetics #the way that art and construction weren't at odds with one another #they didn't frame a house and then send in an interior decorator #the stone pillars that hold up the ceiling got carved specificaly to receive the iron that frames the stained glass windows #the amount of time and work and money and skill that went in #these masses that used to be mountains have been pulled out of the earth and thrust up again to the heights #and they are spaces of spiritual beauty #for mourning for celebrating for weddings and funerals and desperate prayers and effervescent rejoicing and faithlessness and apathy and #questions and answers and unanswered questions #a space for the worship of God's mystery #a place where my doubts are met by the God who let doubting Thomas put a hand in his side #christianity #sorry XLBN i hope this filters cortectly for you
