the pages are turning~
a months old pic of my desk
29th august 2024
day 4/50 - productivity challenge
🕒 6:00 a.m.
sleep deprivation is hitting. eating leftovers and coffee for breakfast.
checked notifs
actually ate some goddamn breakfast
not me realizing that i barely eat 2 meals every school day..
revised psychology: ch-1: what is psychology
here's a (self) reminder to actually go study instead of procrastinating 30 mins by watching study motivation videos.
also i recommend listening to non-lyrical music while studying. i personally listen to classical piano music. this is what i was listening to today morning.
showered
morning skincare
extended duolingo streak
aaand off to school. thought i would be late but honestly i've been reaching at the correct time all these days. if i leave my house by 8:05 then i'm good.
at school i first had physics and then 2 continuous chemistry classes (the teacher is good but her classes are so draining ugh).
completed physics classwork (the stuff i missed when i was absent on tuesday)
did the OCEAN test in psychology class! idk why but i love personality tests. i'll discuss my results with my teacher tmr hopefully but what i gathered is that i'm an ambivert leaning to introversion and ok emotional regulation & stability. my other classmate was very much an extrovert with higher tendency to take others' words to heart. we bunked the last 2 english classes together in the library lol. also want to say that i'm so ashamed for having formed an image in my mind of her, without really knowing her that well. i cruelly judged her prematurely and though we didn't really talk about our lives and stuff, we did get closer (maybe even friends?) today and i regret my judgments. ik i would be crushed if someone thought up an image of me in their head like that and i try not to do the same but sometimes i make mistakes. i'm trying to be more aware of that.
studied psychology ch-6: human memory (in the library when i skipped english)
lightly rained the entire trip home and got much louder as i ate a hearty lunch 😋
started a word doc for biology investigatory project
started a word doc for chemistry investigatory project
me and my bestfriend have been much more honest with our feelings recently. the saying "distance makes the heart grow fonder" was actually made for us. she's in a new college all popular with new pretty friends and boys probably crushing on her and she says i'm her favourite person. i'm at a new school slowly making new friends and she's my favourite person. i told her i love her. she deserves to know that. and i meant it totally platonically and that doesn't make it any less. if anyone ever asks, "who's your first love?" i'll say her name. it'll always be her.
practiced playing keyboard 🎹
read newspaper 📰 (some of those cases make me feel sick)
post for studyblr weekly prompt
dinner. yum. noodles and cake.
made notes psychology ch-1: what is psychology?
night skincare
🕒 nope! pulled an all-nighter.. yes i have school tmr 😃 listen i do not recommend doing this shit at all. why did i do it you may ask? i don't really have any crushing deadlines as such, but i've tricked my mind into thinking my own plans are deadlines. this week my sleep has been astronomically fucked up. the weekend will be a reset (i have school on saturday 😭) and i will prioritze sleep. i need to at least manage 6-7 hours everyday.
edit: actually i fell asleep around 2 a.m. and did no other studying..
🎧 i love you, i'm sorry by gracie abrams
her songs are actually just excerpts from my journal but minus the romance unfortunately like where's my gf ugh we're wasting time

i know youre not a studyblr but as a senior can you please give any suggestions on managing 12th boards and competitive exams (im a jee aspirant but i still wanna know how you managed it all) hope its not a bother!
hiii sure!! feel free to reach out whenever, im happy to help <33
okay so. what i suggest you do (assuming you'll be starting 11th this year):
1. Enter 11th std. Don't get intimidated by others. Stay focused on understanding the concepts of all chapters, school exams toh derivations and formulas rattkar bhi ho jayenge. Clear concepts now rather than saving it for 'later'.
2. Practice all PYQs and whatever questions you get for maths. You can only do maths with practice × 100000. It's honestly quite tough, or it's too lengthy.
3. Fully strengthen the 'easier chapters' NOW. Own the knowledge like you made the concept.
4. Enter 12th. Let go of 11th from april-september and fully finish 12th std as soon as possible. Cover all concepts (I believe physics in 12th is relatively easier) and learn all formulas by your midterm exam time at school.
5. USE YOUR SUMMER VACATIONS WELL. COVER ALL BACKLOGS THEN AND THERE. (I regret procrastinating soo much 😭)
6. Just revise 12th entirely and focus on PYQs during October.
7. Nov-Dec go through 11th std again thoroughly, don't take too much stress for preboard cause hopefully you've prepared for 12th strong enough already. Don't take preboard marks to heart!!
8. January, do only and only JEE PYQs and cover whatever backlogs you have. Physics formulas must be learn to the heart. Understand organic chemistry basics very very well, cause it will help predict complex product formations too even if you don't remember the actual reaction!! Maths again, only practice or God can save you 💀 (I'm sorry I'm really scared of maths so maybe this is a biased reply!)
9. Now you'll have board practicals likely in Jan end or Feb only, just make sure your file is complete and you know the basic procedure of experiments. Don't stress too much about viva, usually your own teachers will help you through it!! Focus on practicals as it helps with conceptual JEE Qs too!!
10. Now simply focus on learning derivations and long answer type questions for upcoming boards. You've done enough for JEE and it's time to strength subjective answers. Focus only on cbse board PYQs and again, don't stress too much. Be confident you've worked so hard!!
11. Now the April attempt. Again start focusing on 11th at least 2 weeks before your JEE date. Revise 11th very well.
12. Lastly, solve sample papers only. During the last 3 days I recommend not studying. Only sample papers. With full syllabus. No chapter-wise or topic-wise. But yes if you still don't have concepts cleared, definitely do that asap. Still try to be fully prepared 3 days before the actual exam!!
That's all <33 I made it as detailed as possible for anyone to refer to. Set a goal and follow through guys!! I know it's super hard and yeah 11th mein vo feeling nahi aati, but trust me, if you can push yourself hard in 11th, you won't have to worry too much for the April attempt for sureeee.
All the best <33
#note: this is coming from someone still waiting for april attempt#but yes since its just 3 weeks left ive started revising 11th#maths honestly i just try to strengthen the easy chapters#at least i wont lose marks here FOR SURE#i dont focus on tough maths chapters at all.#asks#dee#answers#desiblr#jee#cbse

THE BACKBONES OF NOTE TAKING:
Notes in my opinion is one of THE BEST ways to learn effectively.
However, the method of notetaking matters and so does the subject.
I think the reason why a lot of people, despite taking notes, don't get a good grade is because of their inefficient and wrong method of notetaking and the revision of rewriting our notes.
Let me explain.
LEVEL 1 - SIMPLIFICATION and UNDERSTANDING
The first time you learn a topic, be it from a textbook or video, we take down notes.
Whenever our teacher teaches us in school or in tuition, we take down these lecture notes. These lecture notes are to simplify our learning as our teachers often explain concepts for us to get a grasp of it. That's level 1 of our note taking.
LEVEL 2 - DEEP WORK
With textbooks like the NCERT, we often have to refer to other guides and websites and just resources in general to learn concepts or learn the basics of certain concepts as NCERT skips them over. By doing this thing where we dive deep into a certain concept, it helps us to connect to the topic and it is very helpful for higher studies and colleges. Study to learn and learn to study. This is level 2 of deep work
LEVEL 3 - CONSOLIDATION
Now we compare the textbook,, our lecture notes and our other conceptual understanding notes so we can derive on whatever's important from an exam point of view. This is where our mind mapping and the connectivity of topics in our brain starts.
This is level 3 of note taking where we bring our first draft of consolidated notes.
LEVEL 4 - EXAM STYLE NOTES
Finally, we go through past paper questions, question banks, book backs and numericals and add these questions, modify our notes in certain concepts so we have the best chance of getting full marks on that concept. This is level 4.
This is HOW we should take notes. Not once or twice, we have to take notes in such that we understand a backbones of the topic first. Then we must consolidate to create exam style notes to minimise time for our revision sessions.
It is really time consuming, I do agree, but half of our work is done if we listen in school and write whatever that's relevant whenever our teachers teaching rather than whatever's written on the board. I find that many teachers often explain some concepts via voice rather than noting the points down on a whiteboard. So it's better to take out your textbook and follow along with whatever the teachers saying and relate and take our lecture notes.
This is 50-60% of our work done in school.
If school teachers aren't good, then we have videos on YouTube or tuition as our alternate.
The rest is up to us at home as once those refined notes are finished, I promise you they will get you the best grades possible. It just takes a bit of deep work + hard work+ consolidating by making connections.
Love,
Mith <3

hey tumblr, you'll be happy to see this
The CBSE Physical Education syllabus has this content. <3 it's not often I praise our education system, but I have respect for our syllabus for this. USA could never.
Pay special attention to the last paragraph. :)))
Edit: added the next page
Importance of inclusion.
Please read this if you have time. It is very uplifting and informative.

"You'll not always be motivated so you have to be disciplined."
day 29+30+31/50 productivity challenge - condensing 3 days into 1 post cuz of 2 all nighters in a row i- dw tho cuz i did sleep a couple of hours in between here & there.. still genuinely dunno how i survived. learn from my mistakes & don't procrastinate cuz that's the only reason i was stuck in this mess
23rd September 2024, Monday
[almost nobody from my class actually went to school (& i'm not an exception) cuz tuesday's a study break & wednesday's our chem exam]
💤: 8 hrs - i mean ig at least that's one plus side of sleeping in?
🕒 1 p.m.- *sigh*
afternoon morning skincare
duolingo
practiced playing keyboard
did some college-related research
gradblr intro post
took bath
studied + made notes chemistry ch: structure of atom (not fully)
did so much planning fml (not good, not good at all, i procrastinated a lot!!)
did an exercise video
🚰: 4 glasses
24th September 2024, Tuesday
[study break day]
🕒 6:30 a.m. - my "night" is over & the day has begun
morning skincare
revised chemistry ch: some basic concepts of chemistry
🕒 12 - 3 p.m. - napped
duolingo
had a mental breakdown, pathetically cried, felt like a failure, etc
studied chemistry ch: structure of atom
took bath
night skincare
packed bag for tmr
🕒 10 p.m. - 12 a.m. - napped
🚰: 3 glasses
25th September 2024, Wednesday
[chem exam]
studied chemistry ch: classification of elements and periodicity in properties
studied chemistry ch: chemical bonding and molecular structure
morning skincare
quickly wrote down all formulae + important values
🕒 8 a.m. - left for school sleep deprived asf but caffeinated & motivated to get through the terrible exam
chemistry exam: i will be in deep shit when results come out *sigh* obviously i'm not happy when my friends do bad but only one comfort is that we're in shit together (they're literally the only 2 ppl i talk to in school). i NEED to do well on all my other exams, like somehow make an extraordinary improvement to show that i'm good with the other subjects and will just prioritize studying chem in the future. also made a deal with my mom that if i get above 83% overall then i'll finally get my own tab and headphones. we've been meaning to buy it for some time now, and my mom agreed only because my first tests' marks was at 64% (cuz i didn't study..). not exactly an "academic weapon" just yet.. only yet hopefully..
🕒 1-5 p.m. - came back home & slept like a log (no one's surprised)
(re) planned my day
took bath
ate my first meal of the day (how did i survive till here with just a coffee before school??)
played chess online (lost once, won once)
planned week after dussehra break
night skincare
decided to take a break today & wake up early tmr to start anew; i.e. operation proper sleep every night is green!
🕒 12 a.m. - went to bed finally
🚰: 4 glasses
🎧: a beautiful ravenclaw-themed playlist on youtube
