Day 3/271 days until finishing my A-level resit
Pretty chill day today, met up with some friends tonight and was totally fascinated by some flowers they had in their living room :D
Did some essay plans for the evaluation of the cognitive perspective
Edited a 15 mark essay for my tutor next week
FINALLY finished off my Observational Methods Research essay!
I’m looking at trying some more study resources/methods. I’m currently using Quizlet and Notion a lot but I’d love some recommendations of other interesting resources!
Snack of the day ~ left over mac and cheese

ADHD study tip
One of the hardest things about studying, or just being productive in general, with ADHD is getting started. It's so hard to just sit down and get something done. I was talking to my brother, who also has ADHD, and we realised we both do the same thing before studying. I always thought it was a bad thing, but after talking to my brother I realised it motivates me to continue being productive.
What we do is something we like to call "productive procrastination". It sounds bad, and yes, to an extent, it can be. Basically you do something not related to your task at hand that is still productive. It gives you that activation energy you need to just start what you need to do.
For example, yesterday I put on an audiobook and for half an hour I did a deep clean of my desk and bookshelves before starting my day of studying. Yes, this was procrastination, but it helped give me motivation. Doing something small makes what you need to do less daunting, because you get that bit of dopamine that keeps you going.
I also find that cleaning up my room really helps. I'm normally a really messy person, but when I study I need a clean space. I used to think it wasn't true, but I now really agree with the saying "messy room, messy mind".

My english teacher cannot escape my queer readings of Othello. No matter how much she goes "...yeeeeeah" or changes the subject, the homoerotic nature of male obsession and toxic masculinity will prevail

reviews & a construction site📠
Biology class was interesting and understandable today; I managed to participate a lot! (Despite it being 8am-) And we continued discussing the chicken/turkey thing, adding another bird to our list of examples🦜We’re supposed to write a review on The Circle during tomorrows English lesson and were allowed to start during todays lesson. I got done with mine before todays lesson ended so I’ll prolly spent the remaining time tomorrow reading :)
Other than that I had my first library shift since mid November(?). I wasn’t especially looking forward to it but I also wasn’t dreading the shift. Drilled a hole into one bench (don’t question it, the library is literally a construction site at this point…), put stickers onto and gave out a few books and put everything else back into its place. I felt rather poorly afterwards though, the shift was quiet and went by quickly but for some reason it made me feel rather uneasy.
That’s why I’m really looking forward to tomorrows therapy session, I’m currently trying to get by with eating more chocolate than is probably healthy and skipping my last class of the day🍫

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to study English literature A-level in an all girls sixth form with a young teacher then just know that once (and this is a few years ago now) my teacher played the “If the men find out we can shapeshift they’re going to tell the Church!!” video and then asked us what about the video we could apply to studying The Handmaid’s Tale

a-levels i think the marauders would take, part 1:
james potter
— spanish: already fluent, so he knew it would be an easy pass.
— drama: thought it would be easy and he and sirius wanted to have at least one class together, drama seemed the most fun.
—sports science: loved doing pe, knows a lot about sport so thought it would be a smart option.
sirius black
— french: his parents made him.
— english language: wanted to impress remus.
— drama: he and james wanted to have at least one class together and they both thought this would be the most fun.
— law: chose it so he has an excuse to argue with people and not get told off for it.
remus lupin
— english literature: he got a grade 9 in his gcse and all his teachers encouraged him to do it at a-level.
— philosophy: loves challenging other student’s stupid ideas.
— history: wanted a class with lily.
— law: similar to philosophy, he loves challenging other students and proving them wrong.
peter pettigrew
— biology: peter was amazing at all sciences but he finds biology the most interesting.
— geography: absolutely loves geography, he got the highest grade in the whole year.
— computer science: thought it would be something easy.
