things to do when you're sad/angry/depressed
i just found out one of my friends were talking bad about me, my bsf, her bsf, and another friend. here's some things to do to get it off your mind:
clean your room
listen to some music/audiobook
take a spa day
hang out with people that make you feel happy
organize shelves
play with a pet
sleep
do some skincare
drink a hot beverage
try a new makeup style
paint your nails
read a book
journal
draw
paint
go to a rage room
scream/cry in your pillow
punch your pillow
organize your clothes/closet
donate to charities you support
dress up and go out
take yourself on a date
clean
do your chores
do you homework
go to a cat lounge or dog visiting center
go to a petting farm
go to a library
go to an amusement park
exercise
I hope you feel better! Remember, go after your dreams, not people.

While I use this for planning my novel, I also organize my notes for Homeward, my newsletter. (It’s as irregular as it is intriguing, like a letter from a good friend).

Getting back on track after a slump
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Life is non-linear as it turns out. Sometimes you're doing great and then all of a sudden you're completely thrown off and are struggling to get up.
It happens to pretty much everyone, and even though you can't really prevent a slump from happening, you can use this advice to help you get back on track
Make a list of what you have to do Sit down, make yourself some tea or coffee and just start writing what you need to do. Missed a deadline with that unfinished paper? Write it down, add a sub-bullet to ask for an extension/send an email explaining your circumstances to your professor/teacher (they're also human, chances are if you notify and explain the situation to them, they will do their best to help you).
Break down those tasks into sub-tasks. By simplifying and breaking down your tasks into smaller chunks you're not only making it easier to do them, but you're also helping yourself get rid of some anxieties or fears since that task now looks much easier and more manageable to accomplish.
Update or create a new routine. Whether your routine contributed towards this slump or not, its always good to update your routine as you grow and change. What may have worked then may not necessarily be appropriate or helpful now. We humans are creatures of change, it's only natural that we outgrow our past.
Take it slow when easing back into your routine. Going too fast can actually be counter-productive, because you should be naturally aligning yourself with it and not forcing yourself into something you're not completely ready to follow. Trying to overcompensate generally isn't a good idea, as putting extra pressure on yourself especially when you're just trying to get everything sorted may not end very well.
Write down your goals and dreams to help you get motivated. It may seem difficult and at times pointless to try and get back on track, and reminding yourself about your goals and aims can definitely encourage you to take the steps to getting back on track or starting over.
Talk to someone about what you're feeling and going through. Your school or uni have counselors and people who can help you get through this if you require help. You don't necessarily have to jump straight into it, just start with a friendly email briefly explaining the situation and go from there.

Productivity boost
Thanks to @leahnardo-da-veggie here, @diabolical-blue here, and @willtheweaver here!
Goals: I want to finish drafting TSP Pt2 by the end of the year. Not sure if I will, but that would be awesome
Productivity tip: take breaks for crying out loud. if you burn yourself out LESS GETS DONE. Please recharge oh my God. You know how your phone or computer gets hot and laggy when its battery is low? That's YOU!!! Charge yourself. Take care of yourself. More will be done if you stop working on it for a little bit.
Current project: The Secret Portal! Currently focused on world building for the power database of Alium.
Exchange something: here's my master post on TSP backstory! I love talking about about how it came to be!!!
Quote: I'll share two. 1) “Life is not made up of a single moment. It's made up of a gazillion moments. What defines us is the choice we make in the next moment, and the one after that.” -Psych, 2) “It's possible to not make a single mistake and still lose. That is not weakness, that is life.” -Star Trek TNG

day 26/100
Tumblr media Tumblr media
did area problems again, still careless with numbers but getting there
did chem eqm, im okay at calculating but forgot some keywords HAHA
you can see the copious amt of green ink (corrections) on the first page for that
issok i will get better (i sincerely hope so for my own sake)
lately my motivation to study has been dwindling because math is making me feel insecure :(
ill have to keep on and not give up and just hope it gets better
it is getting better, just not as fast as i want it to
writing out every step and proper use of brackets has actually improved my accuracy so might just stick to that
when my sch releases more practice qns next year, ill grind 💪

productivity+habit building tips i learned today
i watched a few productivity + habit building videos today, and now its time to share.
task stacking: adding two or more tasks together to speed up a process/get more things done. example: listening to a lecture while cooking, or watching a movie while cleaning your room. most often it is a enjoyable task paired with a chore.
location stacking: i recommend this to people who have to travel and commute a lot during the day. let's say you're scheduling a coffee date with your friend. it would be a lot easier and take up much less time if you schedule it closer to your library study session. Because the shop and the library are closer together, it would take less time than if you scheduled it in the morning, having to commute from the coffee shop to your work/class
out of sight, out of mind: put things you need to do/need ot remember at: eye level, a place you can clearly see it, or a place you check often. this will increase your contact with this thing/idea and will make sure you don't forget it. also great with dieting/restricting food. if the food you are trying to limit is on the lower shelf, hidden behind another item, or completely out of sight, you forget it's there and have less craving for this food.
vocalize your intention: say your goal out loud, to yourself, or prefereably another person. this way, you motivate yourself to do it because you already told someone you would do it.
studying with a friend: this is similar to number 4, as when you study with a friend, in-person or through video call, you can limit each other and make sure each other are on task and working. taking breaks would also be more fun because you can chat or play a game together.
the 2 minute strategy: focus on something for only 2 minutes. this is a trick to tell your brain that you are only working for a short amount of time, but in reality, this is helping to achieve the most hardest part of being productive: starting. after these two minutes, you are already in the zone, so you end up doing much more.
having a second space: having a place to go to when your main space is stressing you out is good for your mental health. for me, my second space is the library. i go there to study, but i also go there to chill out and read, color, or do a puzzle. it helps me when i stress and calms me down to continue my work.
hope this helps! have a nice weekend everyone ☁️✨💛
