my academic journey (warning: i ranted) -
so ever since i started school till about the end of 8th grade i was always a 90%+/straight A student. the kind of child my classmates & cousins would be compared too. not trying to glamorize comparison btw, i personally think that's really toxic & pressurizing. so yeah, i was a "good" quiet kid. i listened attentively in class and submitted all my homework on time. the only complain teachers had about me was that i was "too quiet" but that wasn't a real issue. i was just shy but talkative with my few friends yano. i spent the entirety of 7th grade & most of 8th grade in online classes so my habits of studying went to shit. still somehow managed 91% in my 8th grade finals. and then 9th began and it all went downhill. teachers kept saying 'next year is ur board exams, u need to study a lot, etc, etc.' so if u're not from india we basically have these major 'board exams' at the end of 10th & 12th grade. but 10th boards don't really matter all that much, teachers just make a big fuss about it. 12th boards matter, but that's also the time we give college entrance exams and that sorta matters more according to most ppl. n yeah, idk what happened but i got overwhelmed. i could no longer just do well in class and study before exams and get good marks. i felt dumb. my grades didn't see a single improvement. i honestly gave up in the middle of it all and got sick of school. and at one point, it became less burn out & more clinging to the familiarity of not doing anything. i became lazy. and i became a hypocrite. i'd always tell myself, this time i'm gonna study, this time i'm gonna score well. well that 'this time' never came. 10th grade got even worse and i scored 73% in my board exams because i barely studied at all. at the same time, my relationship with my parents has constantly been unraveling. and i saw just how much of their 'pride' was dependent on me being the kid they could show off and smile widely when others replied 'wow she's going places'. my father can't hold a single conversation with me now that doesn't go back to me being a disappointment. and now i'm the kid who has to listen to her parents compare her to others. 'be like her, your friend', they say. halfway though 11th rn and i guess what?? still no fucking improvement. but the thing is i know this is the last straw. i can feel it. i got around 64% in my first tests (pa-1) of 11th. haven't gotten mid term results yet but i'm estimating just above 50%. and the thing is it's not that i can't score well. i know my potential all too well. i know i can score such high marks. but the problem is i don't study. if i just studied a couple hours every day, i can easily manage above 80%. with constant improvement i can manage above 90% again. but i don't. and that's ending right this instant. i'm not gonna turn into an academic weapon overnight or smth ik that. but i'm gonna start slowly but surely working hard. i have big dreams, i know i can achieve them if i just put in the effort. plans have been made, all i need to do is execute them. execute my laziness. i'm gonna get better. i'm gonna prove everyone who thinks i'm never gonna do it wrong, and i'm gonna prove myself right. this comeback will be for me, my inner child. the little kid in me deserves to not wind up a washed-out failure.
academic goals! -
pa-2 - 75-80%
11th finals - 80-85%
12th pa-1 - above 90%
uni - iiser (college for pure science research, bs + ms integrated)

A thing about notes and note taking in general:
Tumblr media
Notes in my opinion is one of THE BEST ways to consolidate our learning and to broaden our understanding. However, the method of notetaking matters and so does the subject.
I think the reason why a lot of people, despite taking notes, don't get a good grade is because of their inefficient and wrong method of notetaking and the revision of rewriting our notes.
Let me explain.
The first time you learn a topic, be it from a textbook or video, we take down notes. Whenever our teacher teaches us in school or in tuition, we take down these lecture notes. These lecture notes are to simplify our learning as our teachers often explain concepts for us to get a grasp of it. That's level 1 of our note taking.
With textbooks like the NCERT, we often have to refer to other guides and websites and just resources in general to learn concepts or learn the basics of certain concepts as NCERT skips them over. By doing this thing where we dive deep into a certain concept, it helps us to connect to the topic and it is very helpful for higher studies and colleges. Study to learn and learn to study. This is level 2 where we deepen our knowledge.
Now we compare the textbook,, our lecture notes and our other conceptual understanding notes so we can derive on whatever's important from an exam point of view. This is where our mind mapping and the connectivity of topics in our brain starts. This is level 3 of note taking where we bring our first draft of consolidated notes.
Finally, we go through past paper questions, question banks, book backs and numericals and add these questions, modify our notes in certain concepts so we have the best chance of getting full marks on that concept. This is level 4.
This is HOW we should take notes. Not once or twice, we have to take notes in such a way that we understand a backcbones of the topic first. Then we must consolidate to create exam style notes to minimise time for our revision sessions.
It is really time consuming, I do agree, but half of our work is done if we listen in school and write whatever that's relevant whenever our teachers teaching rather than whatever's written on the board. I find that many teachers often explain some concepts via voice rather than noting the points down on a whiteboard. So it's better to take out ur textbook and follow along with whatever the teachers saying and relate and take our lecture notes.
This is 50-60% of our work done in school.
If school teachers aren't good, then we have videos on YouTube or tuition as our alternate.
The rest is up to us at home as once those refined notes are finished, I promise you they will get you the best grades possible. It just takes a bit of deep work + hard work+ consolidating by making connections.
Love,
Mith <3

The fee structure and policies of the School are designed to support this infrastructure and is subject to change at the discretion of the Management. DAY - 1
Tumblr media
• Deep work•
Physics - Gravitation numericals
I find physics so hard in terms of numericals, I did really REALLY badly on my term 1 exam, mostly because I joined school late (abroad student haha (😭)
But here's my general plan for physics numericals and I'm using this blog as a way to document my experiences and study techniques to see which one works best and hopefully I get to help some of my fellow cose students too :)
My school uses SL aurora and gives us notes from that book. I highly recommend it for theory and questions because it's in depth and the derivations omds are beautiful.
So my focus is to first do: ( more like try LMAOOO)
•SL aurora examples and numericals
• NCERT examples and solutions
• Oswaal questions
• HC verma solutions
•NCERT exemplar
This sounds so tedious and long Icl but like I want to test it to see whether it helps me, to check where the questions are coming from in my periodic tests and I want to be confident enough for the next periodic test :)
I’ll update y’all with my periodic test scores to see if this works lol
Love,
Mith < 3

14th november, thursday
children's day
so like.. let's just ignore how i have't been active for quite a bit. depression fucking sucks. in desperate need of a reality check cuz wdym my next periodic tests are a month away?? i was chilling in my dussehra holidays just last week (it's been a month). less depressing fanfiction, more textbooks :(
i'm going to be trying to get back into the flow from tmr!! for the past few days i've only been up-to-date with notes & submissions and that's it. i haven't done any more actual "studying". i just need to make more time for it & get through it. i like my subjects & i'm gonna continue reminding myself that i actually love what i'm learning, even when it's difficult.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
soooooo, today was children's day! we didn't have to wear our uniforms and omg everyone looked so good!! like the way everyone styled their different clothes & accessories was all so pretty! we had a special assembly at school at first where our teachers danced too. we were supposed to have the first half of our regular classes but our teachers mostly let us pass our time. me & my friends were just talking & snacking the entire time (a few pics were also taken!). i usually don't get my phone to school cuz my dad directly drops & picks me up, but today i took my phone to school to take pictures! (technically my mom's, i don't actually have my own phone). then our two classes were combined (science+commerce) & our class teachers conducted a few simple games. mostly simple fun stuff involving cups & balloons. before leaving me & my friend managed to click a few more pics. then i got home & fell asleep for a few hours lol (gimme a break i got around 5 hrs of sleep. also i somehow woke up around 5:45 a.m.! i barely get myself to get out of bed at 7:30 on other days)
today was really fun tbh. like me & this one friend mostly just yapped but i'm feeling so grateful for her<3 met her on the third day of school this year & suddenly it's been more than 5 months & the only constant is that we're both always yapping in our classes. yk when u find someone u can joke around with & tease yet also have deep conversations about stuff like humanity, art, politics, religion, career, our futures, marriage, etc. we have a lot in common too (introverts, book lovers, weird relationship with parents, love writing). feels like she just gets me yk. it's really nice..

How Preparatory Schools Incorporate Collaborative Learning in CBSE Curriculum
Collaborative learning is an essential element in the modern educational landscape, emphasizing teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills among students. In the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum, preparatory schools play a crucial role in incorporating collaborative learning techniques to enhance the overall educational experience of students.
CBSE education is known for its holistic approach towards learning, focusing not only on academic excellence but also on the overall development of students. Preparatory schools, which cater to students preparing for CBSE examinations, understand the importance of collaborative learning in fostering a conducive learning environment.
One of the primary ways in which preparatory schools incorporate collaborative learning in the CBSE curriculum is through group projects and assignments. By working together on tasks and projects, students learn to communicate effectively, share ideas, and work towards a common goal. This not only enhances their academic skills but also helps in developing essential life skills such as teamwork and leadership.
Moreover, collaborative learning allows students to learn from each other's strengths and weaknesses. By working in groups, students can support and help each other, leading to a more inclusive and supportive learning environment. This promotes a sense of community and camaraderie among students, creating a positive and enriching educational experience.
In addition to group projects, preparatory schools also utilize collaborative learning techniques such as peer tutoring, discussions, and group study sessions. These activities encourage peer-to-peer learning, where students can exchange knowledge, clarify doubts, and reinforce their understanding of concepts. This not only helps in improving academic performance but also fosters a sense of responsibility and accountability among students.
Furthermore, preparatory schools organize extracurricular activities and events that promote collaborative learning. From debate competitions to science fairs, students are given opportunities to work together in teams, showcase their talents, and learn from each other's experiences. These activities not only complement the academic curriculum but also provide a platform for students to develop social and interpersonal skills.
Collaborative learning in CBSE preparatory schools is also facilitated through the use of technology. With the advent of digital tools and online platforms, students can collaborate virtually, share resources, and work on projects together from any location. This allows for greater flexibility and accessibility, enabling students to connect and collaborate seamlessly.
Overall, collaborative learning plays a crucial role in the CBSE curriculum of preparatory schools, ensuring that students not only excel academically but also develop essential life skills. By fostering a culture of teamwork, communication, and mutual support, preparatory schools prepare students for the challenges of the future, equipping them with the skills they need to succeed in a fast-paced and dynamic world.
In conclusion, collaborative learning is an integral part of the CBSE curriculum in preparatory schools, facilitating a well-rounded educational experience for students. By embracing teamwork, communication, and peer-to-peer learning, preparatory schools empower students to reach their full potential and emerge as confident and competent individuals ready to face the challenges of the modern world.
