finally got around to finishing season 4 and starting watching season 5 (after not watching for a year or two) i’ve missed them 🥹

annoyed by the "it was never a kids show" crowd bc the comment implies that kids don't deserve complex media. then they'll name things that happened in the show and be like "it was never for kids..." like yeah actually atla was liked by children and was child appropriate even with the topics covered. actually mlb is still liked by children despite marinette having a panic attack in s4 (genuine comment i read???). you can say "i like a show targeted towards children" and "the show isn't only for kids" without saying that somehow the show is too inappropriate for children to justify your like of it

Respectfully, I am just freak out about the 'death grip' the batfam fandom has on Danny Phantom and Miraculous LadyBug

I just don't like how most authors just forgot the characters themselves, their entire personality and personal plot when they turn them into a 'batkid'

Also, the sheer number of fics, like...at least 50% of the Miraculous x Batman/Young Justice/ Justice League are like that

Most genuine ignore Marinette's wonderful parents or bashing them, went to the typical Fenton-Hunting-Phantom-After-Secret-Reveal or Friends-and-Family-All-Dead

Or Long Lost Twins? Bio Dad Au? Kinda Weird

Or forgot Billy Batson's found family and his distrustfull street kid nature and independent life, not just the 'Yes, Mr Batman Sir' thats his alter ego. Pretty sure Billy, as feral 10-14 year old foster kid, would fucking bite them

I can't even be on Tumblr for long because the new hype over season 6 has suddenly brought all the MLB salters out of the woodworks and they're smogging up the place with their shitty opinions.

I just want to love it in peace. We're all gonna have things we love and things we hate. And they're all gonna be DIFFERENT.

I've seen back to back posts about hating one aspect (or design choice), when the very next post talks about loving that exact same aspect. Like we're entitled to our different opinions, but keep the salt and hate and negativity the hell away from me please.

Let's be honest, Marinette and the rest of the characters put more effort into trashing Chloe herself than into actually helping (And they still have the nerve to say they were trying to help when in reality all they said was "Be nice" and nothing else, it's a strong attempt to avoid making an effort to help, which the person needs)

Yes, I'm pissed, that's why there are so many posts, but seriously, the fandom still believes that the characters tried to help Chloe and it's all her fault because she didn't accept "Help", too bad it wasn't even help (This song fits so well)

Yes, I get annoyed with people in the fandom who say that the characters tried, it's bullshit, they didn't do anything to help her (And that's why they put more effort into destroying her than actually helping her), and empty words are things anyone can say

Yeah... I'm not comfortable with the way "stalker" is just casually thrown out at Marinette.

I can't entertain this anymore and gotta put my foot down.

Stalking often involves the stalked acknowledging the stalker and often turning them down for love or what have you only for the stalking to persist. Note that this involves the stalked's discomfort.

Adrien wasn't aware (willfully or otherwise) that Marinette was in love with him (or at least on a level beyond what he gets from fans) and wasn't discomforted by her attempts to profess her love. Marinette hadn't intruded on his life in any damning way and, even when she might, the universe handicaps her. Like… how many have her Murder Board plans to get with him panned out?

The only times when Adrien feels he's being dogged by anyone else is by his father coercing him into being a model and face for the Gabriel brand as well as by certain fans that may mob him. Something that Marinette has ACTUALLY helped him with like when he went out to see his mother's movie in theaters.

Furthermore, Marinette actively avoids intruding on Adrien's space in ways that might put him off like trying to talk with him only to trip over her words. Meaning? She doesn't want to make him uncomfortable around her and in the event that Adrien did turn her down for Kagami, she would've swallowed the bitter pill best she could.

All of this to say… words mean things and Marinette's cringe plans are understood by the show to be just that: cringe as teenagers get. You don't have to like it and can criticize its execution but this overstatement of harm is getting to the point where y'all just don't know how to even read a book.

Like… I didn't dellude myself in thinking that I'd get praise across the board for my takes here.

I'm not here to cry foul that one may dared disagree with me but... there's a weird undercurrent to this criticism that seems to act like Miraculous's character are real people like friends they know. That their actions will somehow impact the real world and... that sounded familiar.

The way the conversation seemed to be going was that the fictional world of Miraculous wasn't "just a show." That we must hold the character accountable for real life laws just as we would or that we must actively condemn their action because the show neglected to give us a disclaimer concerning potentially problematic behavior on Marinette's part.

I like this show when it doesn't just settle for good guys being stalward citizens and villains as only dagnasty evil. When Marinette gets a little too invasive yet can also be sensitive. When Chat Noir can be a little too emotional yet repressed as Adrien. When Gabriel hams it up like a classic Disney villain yet carries himself like a Shakespeare character in the throes of loss.

I mean... isn't that why Chloe has such a bizarre stan culture around her? What makes other characters unworthy of similar examination?

When did we suddenly forget the fourth wall was a thing?

Is it just me or the fandom of animes/shows/movies are too damn toxic nowadays?

Like seriously GROW UP ALREADY, and for the love of God, GO ON with your life. If people don't like the canon/fanon ships or the characters you like, just ignore them or block them and enjoy the things you like instead of harassing or sending death threats to other people. If you do that and the other doesn't, you're only proving who's the real morally superior person here. (Hint: if you're the one harassing them, you're not the morally superior person)
