i see so much of "jily is married but regulus had a silly crush on his brother's married best friend" but what if it was the opposite?

jily is married, bartylus is married (having tryst w evan now and then) but lily knows james has that silly crush on regulus forever because his type is mean ppl and she loves to tease him about regulus for years and one time they got together at family gathering (maybe christmas week?) and lily dropped the bomb at the table "yk james had that crush on you when we were back at the school, right regulus?"

now james is spitting his drink, regulus' jaw on the floor, sirius has the most frightened expression on his face because he did not know that, barty and evan is looking each other amused because well, well. i guess they didn't bully james and his squad for years for nothing.

Regulus and Barty very casually have intellectual conversations at 2 am, in the middle of the night in their dorm, while Evan is snoring loudly in the background

unfortunately, I cannot get behind the psycho Bartylus train. At least, most of the time. But! I see them very much as high school romance/sweethearts. Just the classic runaway love story. To me, they are the few sweeter ships.

However, I always saw Bartylus as the long-term, high school forbidden romance that ends with them running away and living out their happy life far away from shitty parents. They are each other's fairytale prince and princess!

They are the more realistic. Like any long-term relationship in high school, you can easily point out in the halls or in your friend group. There aren't any complex feelings of loyalty and devotion that borders on unhealthy (maybe a bit but never too much). If anything, their relationship is the most normal thing about them.

People tend to forget that Regulus is this wealthy, posh, basically royalty heir with the most insane imagination when he's studying in the library with Barty who is commonly viewed as the next leader of the Wizarding world, one of the smartest students of his age, and also a huge fucking pretentious dick that scares the first years. Their characters are strange to other people but it's quickly forgotten when they see Barty and Regulus at Madam Puddifoots' sitting across from each other, kissing and holding hands, and drinking tea from each other's cups.

I think it's also what makes them more tragic in a canon-compliant universe. They were just teenagers in love.

I also don't see them being this interested in these [insert disturbing thing] as a metaphor for their love because they are each other's comfort space, where there isn't anything complex, just simple, soft love like the ones you see in movies or read in books.

Bartylus takes the most vulnerable parts of Barty and Regulus and runs with it honestly.

Barty gets high and plays video games a lot and when Reg comes out of their room from his nap he just cuddles into his lap and listens to his grunts of annoyance when he’s fighting and then smiles whenever Barty has a moment to pet his hair and kiss his forehead

Contrary to popular belief in literally almost every marauders fic, Barty Crouch Jr. is not getting arrested 10+ times. this man is evading the cops and charming or smarting himself out of every shit situation. if this man actually goes to prison, it's only once for a short period of time, so do not be mistaken

Unpopular opinion but I firmly believe that Sirius would have been the first to know about jegulus. He knows his brother and his best friend better than he knows himself. Also I don't think that Sirius was this oblivious person that a lot of people make him out to be. He grew up in a household that you always had to be on guard in, that's not something that goes away (at least for me).

something about regulus being so so quiet during sex (soft whimpers, mostly breathy noises) and barty being SO SO LOUD during sex (the man sounds like a wounded animal) really gets me

i believe after some time regulus goes insanely vocal while having sex and barty gets off to that like imagine this is the same guy once barely saying anything and having the most lewd soft moans but now he is screaming that he should fuck him harder or he will find someone else to do it
