Tips for Writing When Struggling With Executive Dysfunction
Tumblr media
Executive dysfunction can make writing challenging. NaNo participant, August, has some tips on dealing with task initiation and how to keep writing so you can reach your writing goals. Embarking on a writing project is quite the undertaking. After years of sticking to short pieces, I decided to start working on my first novel last NaNoWriMo. However, it felt like I was fighting with my own mind to get things done.
Executive dysfunction is a term used to describe weaknesses in the cognitive process that organizes thoughts and activities, prioritizes tasks, manages time efficiently, and makes decisions. It’s common in certain disorders, such as Depression, ADHD, and autism. Executive function skills are used to establish structures and strategies and to determine the actions required to move a project forward. So for those of us who struggle with executive dysfunction, dedicating ourselves to a project could get quite overwhelming. Here are some little tips and tricks I’ve compiled throughout my experience.
How to start:
Task initiation is one of the biggest struggles when dealing with executive dysfunction. This is especially hard with writing, since you need time to muster the energy needed to jump into your story. Here are some tips:
1. Start a 1-3 minute timer and force yourself to write something, anything, before it ends. The words that come out don’t matter. You can just write, “I don’t know.” The point is to force yourself into the writing zone.
2. Leave bread crumbs for yourself at the end of each writing session to make picking up where you left off easier. For example, stop in the middle of a sentence or thought, so the next time you write you won’t have to tackle something completely new.  You just have to finish that incomplete thought and continue from there. You could also leave some notes about what happens next, cutting down thinking time in your next session.
3. Try free writing. This is a great way to get those creative juices flowing with minimal effort. Free writing alleviates the pressure of writing something good. Spend a few minutes writing about anything, like your day or a frustrated ramble about your story. It’s like a warm up before your writing session.
How to keep going:
So you’ve started your writing session. How do you keep writing? Most importantly, how do you keep working on your project?  When struggling with executive dysfunction, the regular “set a schedule” approach doesn’t tend to work.
1. Scale down your goal if your big, overarching goal for your project is overwhelming. Try changing your goal to something more manageable and short term. For example, try writing 500 words a day. This might make it less likely for you to lose steam half way through.
2. Try writing sprints if daily goals aren’t working. Instead of hitting a certain word count, you’re setting a timer and writing for its entire duration
3. Don’t feel bad for needing external motivation. Will promising yourself a pizza after you hit your goal motivate you to write? By all means, do so. Maybe you just need a friend to ask you if you’ve written at the end of the day. Find out what motivates you.
4. Find a writing buddy. This can be someone who can sit down and write at the same time to hold you accountable. Or it can be a critique partner that expects you to turn in something by a certain deadline.
5. Try something new. This is one of the best ways to combat how constraining and overwhelming your writing might feel. It’s okay to lose interest in your project for awhile and try something new. Unless you’re racing to meet a deadline, you have no obligation to keep working on a project that isn’t working for you. Setting a project aside doesn’t mean giving up on it. You might only need some time away from it before you are able to finish it.
Trying something new could also mean changing where or how you write. Usually write at home? Try a coffee shop. Do you usually type? Try hand writing. It might or might not work for you. But change could be quite refreshing for your mind.
6. Write whenever you can.
Sometimes the urge to write comes while you’re waiting for lunch to heat up, or right before you go to bed. Motivation can be hard to find with executive dysfunction, and designated writing times don’t always work. Have something on hand you can easily pull out to write with to take advantage of these moments. Jotting down a hundred words as you’re waiting for dinner to cool might not seem like much, but it’s still words contributed to your word count.
Some of these tips might work for you. Some might not. Writing successfully is mostly about finding what works and running with it. These are things I found helpful when I embarked on my first novel and I hope it would at least give you some ideas.
Happy writing!

i know a lot of high schooler/college rexies on here struggle a lot with getting good grades or keeping their friends/family from being suspicious, because i have too, but now that i know how to get my brain to work even while under-eating, here are my best tips! (.づ◡﹏◡)づ.
REMINDER: this is what works for ME! i dont know if it will for you, but give it a try!
★ caffeine, but not too much. max one coffee/one energy drink per day, and not after 6!
★ nuts are great; i recommend pistachios because they’re my fav, but i believe walnuts and almonds are the best ones for brain functions
★ dried fruits along with nuts; raisins, dates, prunes or cranberries preferably. quick sugar, very efficient! i find having a nakd bar before a test increases my concentration overall, so def recommend having that or dates with nut butter.
★ eat slow. i know a lot of people say it, but seriously! i’ve always eaten slow, and having small portions goes unnoticeable if you eat slow. even better; when eating with friends, open your lunch box and speak as you ‘eat’ while actually not touching it.
★ fruits and steamed veggies. again, everyone says it, but honestly the best. i don’t care if they have ‘too much sugar’ or ‘too much carb’, they’re low cal.
★ egg whites, lean fish, lean meat, tofu… protein is important!! i’m vegetarian, and i do tofu scrambles, which are super low cal and really filling. don’t overdo the protein though, there’s no use. have one or two protein foods per day, and protein bars if that’s your thing.
★ say you hate condiments such as mayo, oil and butter. all my friends know i hate butter and oil (say by themselves, that you don’t mind if it’s in cooked things so they’re not suspicious) and so they’ll never offer me anything too oily. same with mayo!
★ say you’re going with no sugar for a few weeks. by the end of them, they won’t even notice you’re not eating high cal sweets!
★ in the evenings, try to have extra curricular activities to avoid eating dinner with your parents. i’m out 3 out of 5 week days, and my mum isn’t home one evening. on fridays, i always pretend i ate a lot in the afternoon. this honestly really depends on you, so i get it might be hard. but don’t worry, if you eat basically nothing at school, having dinner at home can be your omad and it won’t hurt your progress.
★ WEEK ENDS. they’re so hard, i agree. Once again, try going to sports or say you’re going on a morning run, then say you grabbed food on your way back. pretend you go out to eat with friends and just go for a nice walk. spend a lot of time studying, especially practicing with exercises and just grab a pack of chips (don’t eat any, or just one or two) so you can pretend to have overeaten and avoid dinner/lunch!
that’s it, hope it helps!!!

5 tips for the work-at-home witch ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
when i'm not witching around, i actually have a day job! my job is primarily a work from home job, spending my days alone in my room writing reports and reading legal documents... it gets stale (●´⌓`●) this is a list of some little witchy things i do to keep my head on straight and prevent myself from going mad and impulsively quitting my job!
some of these tips might also work for students!
you might have to switch it up a bit, but some of these tips could help you get through homeschooling, digital learning days, or homework.
₊˚⊹♡ 1. light a candle ♡⊹˚₊
one of the first things i do when i begin work for the day is to light a simple votive candle. the element of fire is a strong element, and by lighting a candle you can harness the energetic energy of the flame. the goal of lighting a candle while you work is to keep yourself "fired up" per say ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ . light the candle with the intention of remaining motivated and energized. for extra effectiveness, you could dress the candle with herbs that also have energizing metaphysical properties. (remember, though, always double check that your herbs are safe to burn!)
₊˚⊹♡ 2. use a sigil ♡⊹˚₊
sigils are an extremely simple yet effective way to use magick! personally, i like to draw the sigil on the back of my dominant (or "working hand") with a non-permanent marker. if you follow this method, be sure to wash it off once you've finished work for the day! leaving a sigil on your body too long can be a bit draining in my personal experience.
if you're more artsy, you could make a piece of art out of a sigil to keep on your desk. a painting, a piece of embroidery, a sketch, or even some digital art done and turned into your desktop wallpaper (tech witches would love that, i feel.)!
i personally like to make my sigils for work out of phrases like "may i work efficiently", "may my work be done properly", but & "may information come easily to me".
₊˚⊹♡ 3. money bowl ♡⊹˚₊
i actually haven't done this yet (˃ᆺ˂) it's a spell i plan to do during the next full moon.
but! the idea of a money bowl is to essentially bring more money in to your life. if you're looking for a promotion or a pay raise, a money bowl on your desk certainly won't hurt!
₊˚⊹♡ 4. work outside ♡⊹˚₊
if you're able, work somewhere other than you're typical working area at least once a week. coffee shops, libraries... even a different room in your house! the change of energy will keep you from feeling too stagnant.
i really recommend taking your work outside, if able. sometimes, i print out a few documents i need to read and go sit out under a tree in my yard. sitting outside in nature not only helps to keep you grounded, but it also helps foster your connection with the local nature spirits. connecting to your local nature spirits AND getting your work done at the same time... talk about multitasking! (ᴗᵔᴥᵔ) if you can't work outside, then take time during your breaks to step outside. a small walk or even just sitting outside under the sun is enough to help keep your centered.
₊˚⊹♡ 5. enchant a watch ♡⊹˚₊
i have severe ADHD, but i also have severe severe severe anxiety. because of this, under my doctor's guidance, i can't take ADHD medicine for fear of my anxiety medicine not working effectively. since i'm rawdogging my ADHD i tend to have a hard time staying on schedule... so i've enchanted my watch!
i recommend using materials that promote focus and organization. ever since casting an enchantment on my watch, i've noticed an uptick in my overall productivity in all facets of my life - work included. i haven't missed a deadline, and while i still have a nasty habit of procrastinating, once i finally make the effort to begin work i find myself staying on schedule way easier than before.
that's it for now! if you have any questions or would like me to go further into detail about certain things, feel free to send me an ask! <3

I have been sitting on these for a long time because I wanted to have some more varied stuff but I haven't had time to write anything! So here's what I've got! Honestly these are some of my favorites
[part 1] [part 2] [part 3] [part 4] [part 5] [part 6]
- Whenever he's kicked out of an area or event, Oswald proceeds to start shoving anything not taped down into his pockets. He doesn't need the stuff, he just likes to be petty and ruin it for everyone else
- Bane has done a series of infomercials for various products & services that only air on late night product channels. Alfred is the only batfamily member who knows, he was doing laundry late one night and nearly lost it
- Mr Freeze writes restaurants/companies when they wrong him. Like nice formal letters, signing them and everything
- The Joker has an imdb page. Actually a lot of the villains do but like the Joker has one he updates with fun facts. Who says they're accurate but they sure are fun
- Riddler freaking hates puppets. Their soulless eyes say it all. He refuses to or "work" with puppets. That being said, Scarecrow has chased him around with Scarface once or twice "for science"
- Scarecrow has and still does write letters of recommendation for his ex students. He freaking still has Gotham University letterhead paper and everything. Honestly some of his students have gotten the job from his letter alone (maybe it's out of fear but like it's still a win), and they 100% send Jonathan thank you gifts in Arkham. He's got one of those dorky teacher scrapbooks where he keeps the thank you letters. One of his students even crocheted him a little plush scarecrow. It's like, they don't love his crimes but you know that was ol kooky professor Crane for ya
- Harvey kind of has a soft spot for sitcoms, he used to watch them with his mom growing up. One of their favorites, ironically, was night court
- Bane has a famous chili recipe and he makes one batch a year. It's fucking delicious! He makes an edition with meat and a vegetarian version too. Of course consults Ivy for home grown excellent quality vegetables and she gets first dibs in return
- the Joker has not one but TWO released albums. One is essentially a mash up of all the serenades he's made Batman listen to over the years and the other one is called "The Holidays with the Joker: Christmas selects edition"
- Scarecrow's car is a mess. He's got a work truck of course but his main car is like a wood panel sedan that he's been driving since he was a professor and refuses to get a new one. It's a fucking mess, he has like clothes, papers, garbage all over the place. He still has term papers he forgot to grade under the seats. Riddler HATES his car, with a passion
- Riddler has gone through the pain and suffering to teach all the rogues how to use discord, he had once hoped it would make their crimes more efficient. They have a group chat but it's mostly suffering on his end as all chaos ensues
- Scarecrow owns a Halloween train village he has set up in one of his lairs. It plays instrumental versions of Halloween songs as it goes around the track
- Joker will push open cups off of tables because he can. He's got the chaotic energy of a cat awake at 3 am
- Riddler and Scarecrow's friendship starts like super formal and co worker like but after like a year and a half, evolves into a weird symbiosis. Jonathan points at random ass objects or books and goes "you" when he's with Edward. Eddie has a habit of fixing or picking debris of Jonathan, usually when they're crimeing. Also one time, they were both startled so bad by Batman that Scarecrow jumped into riddler's arms like Scooby & shaggy, except they both held onto each other for a second before toppling over. Robin then unmasked them like scooby doo
- Harley & Ivy are frequent Panera customers and often get pick up orders there under "codenames" given by Harley. All the workers know who "Plantmamma" and "the quinnanator" are but like they tip great and everyone should get to enjoy soup
- Bane has one CD in his car, it's a 2010 greatest hits CD that someone accidentally left in there. Who you ask? He has no idea
- Harley has a getaway playlist preloaded in her phone for car chases
- Riddler and Scarecrow watch reality tv/game shows together. They binged all of survivor and the amazing race in a year. It was a joke at first but they both got really into the shows. They have both applied to be on amazing race together and unfortunately haven't been called back
- Joker still uses cassettes (and vinyls probably) except he mixes them himself and labels them all stupid titles like "Birthday bash #9", "Baty's mix", "what's the deal with airplane food?", "etc". But he also has a tape recorder and makes notes to himself and labels those ones too, so he gets his personal notes mixed up with his music jams all the time. He goes to put on some epic clown music and instead it's a twenty minute recording he made of himself eating fruit loops

Hi! I struggle with how to study efficiently. Any study tips you can give? Thank you! you're an inspiration <3
Hihi! Thankyou for the compliment :)
I'm disabled, so my study techniques have changed a lot over the years, so I'll give you both — when I was able-bodied and what I do rn.
Tumblr media
(able bodied)
Reviewing lecture notes
📝 So the first thing I do is, review the day's lectures after coming home before doing any other leisurely activities. I come home, eat something, then look through the topics that have been done for the day, and make sure I understand everything. I don't STUDY it, but only read through.
Posing deadlines for myself:
⏳ I do this for a few days until a significant amount of portion is done, and THEN I start studying. I finish one chapter per day, or if it is a huge one, split it for two or three days. I usually pose a deadline for myself — if i have 5 hours to complete this part, and it has 25 pages, so i need to complete 5 pages in one hour, which is 1 page every 12 minutes. I know this is very specific but giving specific deadlines for myself help me complete things faster. And breaking up big chapters like this also make em less intimidating.
Pomodoro:
🕑 I used a 60-10 pomodoro, give and take a few minutes — and it worked because when I was able bodied, I could focus for longer periods of time without any difficulty.
Making notes: Is it required?
✒️ One important thing to think of while taking notes is— do you really need to take seperate notes in order to study, or is reading from the textbook enough for you? Personally, my textbooks have information that's spread through pages and I like my study material to be concise and to the point. I zone out really quickly while reading from the textbook because the information is EVERYWHERE. Abd also the lack of color makes it boring lol. This is why i make seperate notes. If you have no problem with reading from the textbook or any other printed material, I think making notes would be a waste of time.
Physical vs Digital notes:
⌨️ I extensively take physical notes. I love writing down information, color coding them, and highlighting key points. The colors help me visualize the page during the exam, and sometimes I remember an answer only because it was written in a different color than the rest of the page.
I know people who take digital notes, but that doesn't work for me because again, I zone out while reading things from a screen XD. But there are a lot of advantages like easy portability, better organization etc.
(disabled)
Start early
📝 I start studying from the first day. Since my health fluctuates a lot, I don't know when I will go down with a flare and not be able to study. So I start early and try to be ahead of the lecturers so even if I take a few days off, I'm not lagging behind.
Pomodoro:
🕑 Sitting for a long time messes up my hips, so I use a 20-5 pomodoro. I study for 20 minutes and then walk around for 5, stretching a little etc.
Posing deadlines:
⏳I make a schedule but not a very harsh one. Because I need to make it flexible as my health fluctuates a lot. So I usually assign study days for two days, then take a day off, so that I don't get burntout easily. I usually start with assignments the day it is assigned, so that I can do a little everyday and complete it before the due date without tiring myself out.
Making notes:
✒️ Even if I am disabled, I take notes (this does not apply to everyone, I'm just giving my experience). I've tried taking digital notes, and although the stylus and/or typing is much easier on my hand, I allow myself the pleasure of taking physical notes whenever I have the energy to. Because I genuinely cannot study from digital notes lol. I color code my physical notes so I can remember and recall information easily, and it also makes any topic less boring :D
These are all the tips that I use(d), I hope they help you anon!

planning out this menu for next week so of course thinking about the ghouls and their kitchen/food habits
dew loves sweet, crunchy treats. kettle corn, frozen chocolates, chocolate covered nuts. anything sweet that will leave a trail of crumbs will do. what he hates, however, is dishes, so he'll do anything possible to avoid making more, including using a paper towel as a makeshift plate (this of course leads to more mess, and mountain has nearly banned him from the space on several occasions)
rain loves spicy foods. ordering thai? he's requesting level 5 spicy, with extra chili paste on the side. loves to chase spice-intolerant dew around offering kisses after. he has too many teeth, so he won't touch stringy foods like celery. in the kitchen, he will clean as he goes, but never remembers where to put the spatulas or whisks so good luck figuring out which drawer he plopped them in
mountain also has a sweet tooth, but more for cakes and cookies. his baking is rivaled only by sunshine, and they'll tackle the most difficult recipes together to make actual magic. also makes the best ✨️special✨️ treats with his home-grown stash. extremely clean and organized; everyone knows better than to bother him in the kitchen, choosing to sit and observe at the island instead. if they're extra good, he'll slide them a sample
swiss loves savory and crunchy snacks. chips, pretzels, extra toasty cheeze-its. mountain made him savory trail mix once and now he asks for a pound of it every yule. will keep the kitchen pretty tidy, but has an unfortunate habit of forgetting to close the cabinets he opens and has bonked himself on more than one occasion. also known to make anything into leftover sandwiches that have no right to be as tasty as they are
aether is a grill dad. grilling is peaceful for him, plus it keeps his hands warm. loves a good classic burger, or a grilled chicken salad, definitely a savory guy. there could be a foot of snow outside, and aeth will be lighting the grill up for dinner without complaint. he's still learning to use the smoker, ever the perfectionist, but no one is complaining about eating the "messed up" brisket that doesn't quite fall apart when you poke it
aurora is the soup queen. loves eating soup, making soup; all soup, all the time. the den has a lot of mouths to feed so mountain made her a special step stool to help her see more easily into the massive kitchen stock pot while she cooks. her favorite to eat (but least favorite to make) is cauliflower soup, it's creamy and delicious, but every time she uses an immersion blender the ceiling gets as much soup as she does
sunshine also loves baking. her favorite is a classic raspberry french macaron and she has perfected the technique - it's impressive. phantom loves to watch her cook in particular, she's so clean and precise, they hope one day to hold a measuring cup like she does. sunshine is a bit more patient in the kitchen, showing whoever is watching little tips and tricks. wears the cutest floral apron, almost always covered in flour handprints
cumulus is all about fruits and berries, loves citrus and blackberries the best. mountain painstakingly cares for a little tangerine tree, just for her. her favorite foods to make are comfort foods, and she always makes the macaroni and cheese for big group dinners. everyone begs for it (and rain doesn't even add hot sauce), but she is definitely one of the messier cooks. everyone knows she has been in the kitchen when there are wrappers left about, little twist ties on the counter. the pack doesn't mind terribly, not when her dishes could cure any emotional wound
cirrus is all about cold, sweet snacks. loves ice cream and popsicles, the freezer is well stocked. her favorite is orange pushpops, and she will take exactly zero questions about it. works with great efficiency in the kitchen, and will often be the one planning dinner party menus with mountain. that, and which special snack he should make next. her specific cooking talent is bread, in particular sourdough. she made a cinnamon bread once that made dew cream his pants, he still hasn't lived it down
phantom burned water once, never tried cooking again. loves to wear a thrifted shrek shirt, "in the morning, im making waffles." they aren't, they barely use the toaster, but they'll make puppy eyes at mountain until he sighs and starts getting the batter ready. will eat anything anyone feeds them, but has an extra soft spot for those cloyingly sweet white puffy sugar cookies with bright colored frosting and sprinkles. the first time they had one was halloween, and they insisted on saving all the bat sprinkles

Can Residential Metal Roofing Reduce Ice Build-Up?
Have you ever experienced the frustration of ice dams forming on your roof during winter? These pesky formations can cause significant damage to your home, leading to leaks and structural issues. If you’re looking for a solution that enhances your home’s appearance and helps manage ice build-up, you might want to consider residential metal roofing. In this article, we’ll explore how metal roofs can help reduce ice build-up and provide you with essential tips for effective winterization.
Understanding Ice Dams and Their Impact
Before discussing the advantages of residential metal roofing, let’s examine ice dams. Ice dams occur when heat escapes a home and melts snow on the roof. The melted water flows down to the eaves, where it refreezes, creating a dam of ice. This can lead to water backing up under the shingles, potentially causing leaks and damage to the home's interior.
Why is this a problem? Ice dams can lead to significant water intrusion, affecting insulation, electrical systems, and even the structural integrity of your home. That’s why finding effective solutions to mitigate ice build-up is essential.
Residential Metal Roofing: A Solution for Ice Dams
The Temperature Regulation Benefit
One of the most significant advantages of residential metal roofing is its ability to regulate temperature effectively. When installed correctly, metal roofs can help maintain a consistent temperature between the attic and the outdoor air. This reduced temperature fluctuation minimizes condensation build-up in the attic, a common issue contributing to the formation of ice dams.
Additionally, metal roofs tend to reflect more sunlight, which can keep your roof cooler in the summer. This reflective quality can also help maintain a more stable temperature in the winter, reducing the chances of snow melting and refreezing at the eaves.
The Insulation Factor
Proper insulation in your attic is vital in preventing ice dams, and residential metal roofing can enhance this. A well-insulated attic will keep heat from escaping, reducing the risk of snow melting on the roof. While metal roofs do not provide insulation, they work harmoniously with insulation systems to keep your home warm and energy-efficient.
Snow Retention Properties
Unlike traditional roofing materials, metal roofs have snow-retention properties. This means snow stays on the roof longer, providing an additional insulation layer. By keeping snow on your roof, you can prevent the thaw-and-freeze cycle that creates ice dams.
Tips for Maximizing Ice Dam Prevention with Residential Metal Roofing
While residential metal roofing has many benefits in reducing ice build-up, there are additional strategies you can implement to maximize its effectiveness:
1. Install an Ice and Water Shield
Consider installing an ice and water shield membrane along the eaves of your roof. This premium layer of protection can help prevent water from infiltrating your home in case ice damming does occur. Many building codes require this in areas prone to ice dams, and it’s a worthwhile investment.
2. Ensure Proper Attic Ventilation
Good attic ventilation is crucial to maintaining a consistent temperature and reducing condensation. Ensure your attic is well-ventilated to allow for proper airflow. This will help keep the roof temperature low and minimize the risk of ice formation.
3. Enhance Attic Insulation
Evaluate your attic insulation to ensure it meets recommended R-values for your climate. Proper insulation will help keep warm air from escaping into the attic, reducing the likelihood of ice dams forming.
4. Consider Snow Guards
If you live in an area with heavy snowfall, installing snow guards on your residential metal roofing can help manage snow accumulation. These systems prevent snow from sliding off the roof all at once, which can be both a safety hazard and a contributor to ice dam formation.
5. Regular Roof Maintenance
Routine maintenance is essential for any roofing system. Inspect your metal roof regularly for potential issues, such as loose seams or rus, that could affect its performance in winter weather. Keeping your roof in good condition will help it function optimally.
Myths About Residential Metal Roofing and Ice Dams
Myth 1: Metal Roofs Completely Eliminate Ice Dams
While residential metal roofing significantly reduces the likelihood of ice dams forming, it doesn’t eliminate the risk. Extreme weather conditions and inadequate insulation can still lead to ice build-up. Combinings are essential to combine metal roofing with other essential r preventive measures.
Myth 2: Metal Roofs Are Noisy in Winter
Many worry that metal roofs will be noisy when snow or ice slides off during winter. However, modern metal roofing systems are designed to be quieter than older models. Proper installation and insulation can further reduce noise levels.

Just a Little Further 16

The group of Administrators - former Adminstrators? No, I'll still need Administrators. These though? Maybe? - leads us through the promenade of the Starbase, past the gawking crowds. Now that they're pretty sure I'm not going to start a riot or a war, I have a lot more curious onlookers following a... respectful distance behind. We continue on through the promenade towards a...
group of shops?
They're small, ramshackle shops, selling hot food and other small trinkets. If tourists came to this Starbase, I'd call it a tourist trap but I have a feeling that many locals rely on places like this for their daily meals no matter how much the Aviens and Mariens say there is plenty of food.
We stand in front of a shop where one of the Insect people is frying something in a large, shallow pan with a flame under it. Oh!
"Rapid River Roaring, what is the name of this species of sapient?" I ask.
"They are known to us as Azurians."
I look at the Azurian. They are making small efficient movements, transferring food to the large fryer, turning them quickly, and then another moves the cooked food to a rack to dry.
"Good day, may I have one of those?" I ask gently.
"2 Skys, exact change." They say without looking up. I make a show of patting my pockets dramatically, and then look at The Smell Of the Ocean and raise an eyebrow.
"You stand in the presence of a Builder! Know your place!" He barks at the Azurian at the fryer.
The Azurian lazily looks up at them, then over at me with my royal blue outfit and crown and wings, and then back to The Small Of the Ocean and says "1 Sky then. Discount."
I tip my head back and laugh. Really, I love these Azurians. I need to make sure they're taken care of. They don't care a single bit about who I am. I look again at Ocean and say "Well? Pay them please. I would like to try what they're cooking."
Ocean looks at me with a shocked expression. I'm sure they had not planned on this when their day started, but even for that they're still surprised.
You are not how they expect a Builder to be.
Good. Maybe they'll stop trying to treat me like they already know how I'm going to react.
Ocean takes out a small purse and digs around and takes out a small, green, metallic coin. They plunk it into the box next to the fryer, and the Azurian who was removing the cooked treats hands me one. It's hot and oily and crunchy and delightful.
"These are so good!" I say around a mouthfull of food. I swallow and look at the Azurians cooking. "Thank you so much, those are amazing." I turn to Ava, Mei and Fer'resi. "You need to try these. Ocean, buy three more!"
The Azurian looks up again. "2 Skys each since they're not Holy."
I look at Ocean again and raise an eyebrow. They dive into their purse and pull out six more coins. Three fried treats are produced, and everyone tries them.
Ava gobbles hers down. "Melody! You're right, these are amazing! We have to make sure we can get more from them. I wonder if they'll give us the recipe?"
"Probably, but I know we can't get the ingredients back home." I say with a smile.
"Well then, we'll just have to stay here. These are worth opening up a trade relationship with the folks at home. Mel, Fer'resi, what do you think?"
I look over and the food is gone. Both of them practically inhaled them. Mei'la is grinning "Melody they're amazing! They taste...familiar. Like a food we eat during one of the festivals."
Fer'resi nods. "It's very similar to the fried treats we eat during... The Ceasing." He thinks a moment.
"The Ceasing?" I ask.
"These days, it's a harvest holiday. When the work in the fields cease and we take a week or two before rotating to our next fields so as to not overwork the soil. It's a time to get together with family and have a party, visit with your neighbors, that kind of thing. There were records of the holiday being related to something else in the old religion, but most people figured it was always a harvest holiday, but now I wonder."
"What, like celebrating the closure of the Gate?" I ask.
"Yes, maybe it originally celebrated when the Builders ceased coming."
Fer'resi looks at his empty skewer thoughtfully. "Well, we can research the history of K'laxi religion later I suppose. And as delicious as these were, why are we here?"
Actually, he's right. I turn to Ocean. "Other than the snack break, why are we here, Ocean?"
With a sigh, he walks between the stands. We follow.
The people running the stands stare as we weave through them, but nobody stops us or even asks what we are doing. The benefits of being a Builder with the station Administrators I guess. We reach the wall behind the stands and The Smell of the Ocean looks at Rapid River Roaring. "It's around here, isn't it?"
Rapid River Roaring nods "Yes, but neither we or any of the Mariens could work out how to open it." They turn to look at me. "Empress, the entrance to the Throne is around here, but as we are not Builders...we don't know how to open the door."
I look out at the wall. It looks ancient. Like it's been here forever. Soot and dust cling to the walls. There has to be a switch or a lever or something right?
No. It's designed for a Builder to open.
Yes, but I've been a builder for what, two full days at this point and Empress for one? I don't know what I'm doing.
Think like an Empress. Think like a Builder.
Ugh, that doesn't help. Everything I've felt so far as shown me that they're self righeous, demanding people who just... get what they... want.
Is it really that easy?
I look up at the wall again. We seem to be in the middle as near as I can tell. Over on one side, it goes for 10 meters or so and then ends in a decoration that looks a little like a pillar. I turn and look at the other side and... yes, it's the same.
This isn't a wall, it's the door.
I look at the door now, and think about it. It looks like it would slide into the floor, or up into the ceiling. I bet it hasn't been opened in millennia. I don't want to hurt anyone who has set up shop here.
Think like a Builder, Melody. What do Builders do? They Build.
Okay okay. Let's think. If I have enough Nanites that I can make clothes for myself and my friends and I can make a frigging glowing crown and wings then there is probably enough to be able to...
I look at the wall and concentrate. Think like a Builder they say. Fine.
A breeze erupts from me and a light fog flows around my feet towards the wall. It clings to the wall until it covers an area that would be a comfortable doorway. A moment passes, and
"Hey, a door!" Ava says. "How did you do that?"
I turn back to her and wink. "I'm a Builder. I have no idea." Ava giggles.
Mei'la looks at the hole. "What happened to the matter in the wall? You can't just make it disappear.
Hmm, I look around, the walls didn't seem to get thicker, and I don't think I took the wall material and rebuilt it into more nanites, but the floor... sure is dusty.
"Look at the floor Mei'la, I think it's dust now."
Drifts of dust blew at our feet as she looked. I guess it was the same color of the wall. That must be it.
I walk over to my new opening and stand there. It smells of stale air and dust. There are no lights and no air movement.
"Come on everyone, let's walk purposefully into the dark and scary hole I made into the wall without really having a good understanding about what I'm doing or how I did it!" I call out to everyone as I go through the door.
The light from the market illuminates a small patch in front of me. It's just bare, dusty floor. I look up and see... nothing. Okay, okay, think like a Builder, act like I own the place.
Because - in a very real sense - you do.
Okay, first thing I want are lights. I think about how I'd want it to be lit, and concentrate and...
There is a loud, distant humming sound and with a dramatic flourish, lights come on in the room, just the color I was thinking.
Ava pushes her way in behind me and stops dead. "Melody... is that your Throne?"
It's breathtaking. About 100 meters from us, nearly 10 meters over our heads is what can really only be described as a Throne, A wide staircase leads up to it with platforms every 10 steps or so.
The Throne itself is... massive. It's a chair made of green shimmering metal. Towering and spindly, it reaches up behind where the Empress would sit, almost organically, towards the ceiling. Touching the ceiling it spreads and branches like the roots of a tree and disappears into the ceiling. I think it's connected. Maybe data connections? It is clearly meant to impress.
Doesn't look too comfortable to sit in though.
"I think it is, Ava. At least the Throne for this Starbase. The Nanites tell me every Starbase has one."
"Do they all look like this?" She looks around, eye wide.
"I don't know. I suppose in time, I'll go and find out."
Mei'la comes in and hearing that turns to me, "So, you're going to stay? Be their Empress? After how many millennia of them not having one you'll just... show up and say 'Hey, I'm in charge now' ?"
It is your right.
"I-I think that I can do some real good here" I say, weakly.
You don't need to justify it to them.
"How Melody? You're an Information Warfare Officer, you never even had a command."
You are a Builder.
"But, look at the people here, look at the Aviens and Mariens who are in charge hate each other! It won't be long before they start shooting each other!" I'm feeling panicked and I don't know why. Mei'la is right, what am I doing?
She is nothing. You are everything
Mei'la crosses her arms. "The only person who has said that they hate each other is you Melody. Nobody else on FarReach who has been to the station has seen it."
They can't see. They won't see.
I look out through the door to the promenade. "The people that live here sure don't look like they're living a free and easy life. We met a slave! Those food vendors we bought treats from sure don't look rich to me. If you look around it looks like... poverty. Like people barely hanging on. I can fix that."
Mei'la keeps staring at me. "How Melody? How will you fix it? You don't know the first thing about how to rule."
I whirl around "Do you? Please, enlighten me then." Wow, I almost used the Voice. I have to be more careful. That was close.
I throw up my hands. "So, what do you expect me to do then, just... go home? With all this that's happened to me, with all that's been given to me, to just waste it on tricks and being able to watch movies without the subtitles? Dr. Irenimum says the Nanites can't be turned off. So now I live for who knows how long with the full package giving me the ability, the knowledge and the power to rule and... I don't?"
Mei'la looks at me, eyes wide. "Melody, what are you saying?"
Ava stands next to me and puts a hand on my shoulder. "She's saying she's an Empress now, and she intends to rule."
I nod without thinking. Ava gets it. Ava gets me. No, wait. What's going on, what am I doing? Ugh, I need a minute to think, my head hurts.
Mei'la turns away and looks over at Fer'resi. "Fer'resi, you talk some sense into her. She isn't interested in listening to me."
Hey, wait a minute, that's not fair
"Hey Mei'la, that doesn't seem fair. I've got... a lot of stuff that I've just been introduced to. I need time to... process it."
"Fine then, let's head back to FarReach, we can process it while we go to the next system." She turns to leave.
Ņ̶̛̞̬̲̪̲̝͑́͆̈́͌̈́̊͝ͅȍ̸̡̞̫̖͕͈̮͌̍̆́͌͗͛͛͒̌͘!̶̢̛̫̦̺̣͍͕͇̳̟̂̊̓̀̕͜͝
She stops without thinking. She turns and looks at me, fearful.
I clap a hand over my mouth. Uh oh.
"Sorry! Sorry! What I mean is... No. I'm going to stay here and think things through. You can head back to FarReach if you want." I look at everyone "You can all leave, you're free to go anytime, But I'm going to keep going and see what's here for me. I need to do this."
The moment I say they're free to go, the Aviens and Mariens with me bolt. They run away as fast as they can. Ugh, good Empresses don't have their subjects run from them in terror, do they?
No, Great Empresses do.
Mei'la looks at me sadly. "Goodbye, Melody." and turns to leave. Fer'resi looks at her, then back at me, then at her. "I-I'm sorry Melody." He stammers "I-I-I need to get back to FarReach and... learn more about these translators you got us. Thank you for them, and for showing us how to wear them." Looking back one more time he leaves.
Ava smoothly transitions her hand on my shoulder into a hug. "You aren't getting rid of me that easily. I'm here to see this through. This is too cool just to give it all up and go back to FarReach and continue on like nothing's wrong." I lean into the hug. Ava knows what I need right now.
She's right. See it through.
Fine. If I'm the Empress, then I'll be the Empress. With newfound determinization, I walk up the stairs. I approach the throne and look at it.
There's no dust.
It's completely clean, how did they manage that trick? I'll have to ask the Nanites later. I turn and plant my rear end into the Throne.
I lean back in shock and gasp.

Understanding Back Hair
Back hair is a common issue that affects both men and women. While some might have light, sparse hair, others could deal with thick, coarse hair covering large areas. The presence and amount of back hair are largely determined by genetics and hormonal factors.

Cons: Results are short-lived; hair grows back quickly. Risk of ingrown hairs, cuts, and nicks.
2. Waxing
Waxing involves applying a sticky substance to the back and then pulling it off, removing hair from the roots.

3. Depilatory Creams
Hair that lies just beneath the skin's surface dissolves with these treatments.

Why Are Interior Designers in Gwalior So Popular?
Gwalior, a city rich in culture and history, is increasingly becoming a hub for modern interior design.
Known for its grand architecture and historical monuments, this city has seen a surge in demand for interior designers who blend heritage with contemporary aesthetics.
With rising aspirations to create both functional and stylish spaces, homeowners in Gwalior are turning to interior designers more than ever.
But what makes interior designers in Gwalior so popular? Let’s explore the key factors that contribute to their success.
Tumblr media
10 Tips for Choosing the Right Interior Designer in Gwalior
1. A Blend of Heritage and Modern Design
Gwalior has a deep-rooted architectural heritage, with landmarks like the Gwalior Fort, Jai Vilas Palace, and intricately designed temples. This cultural richness inspires interior designers to integrate traditional elements into modern design, creating a unique blend that appeals to both young homeowners and those who appreciate classical aesthetics.
By incorporating elements like jali work, arches, and heritage-inspired motifs, interior designers in Gwalior offer a design that feels both timeless and contemporary.
2. Rising Demand for Customized Interiors
The demand for personalized and customized interiors has grown in Gwalior. Homeowners want spaces that reflect their personalities, lifestyles, and preferences, and local designers have stepped up to meet this demand.
With tailored solutions, Gwalior’s interior designers can create unique designs, whether it’s a cozy family home, a luxury villa, or a compact apartment. Their approach to personalized design sets them apart and contributes to their popularity among clients looking for unique, individualized interiors.
3. Affordable Luxury Solutions
Unlike metro cities where interior design can come with a high price tag, Gwalior offers affordable yet luxurious interior design services. Interior designers in Gwalior understand local market demands and offer budget-friendly solutions without compromising on quality. They source materials locally, keep labor costs competitive, and provide value-driven services, making luxury interiors accessible to a broader range of clients.
4. Expertise in Space Optimization
Space optimization is a key factor in modern interior design, especially in urban areas where homes may be compact. Interior designers in Gwalior have mastered the art of maximizing available space through creative layouts, multi-functional furniture, and strategic storage solutions.
By ensuring that every square foot is utilized effectively, they make even smaller homes look spacious, organized, and stylish—something that resonates with the city’s residents who seek efficient living solutions.
5. Environmentally Friendly Design Practices
Another reason why interior designers in Gwalior have gained popularity is their focus on sustainable and eco-friendly design. With a growing awareness of environmental issues, many designers in Gwalior are incorporating sustainable materials, energy-efficient lighting, and eco-friendly practices into their designs.
By using locally sourced materials, recycled elements, and promoting green design principles, they cater to environmentally conscious clients who want their homes to be both beautiful and eco-friendly.
6. Incorporating Vastu Shastra Principles
In Gwalior, as in many other parts of India, Vastu Shastra plays an essential role in home design. Interior designers in Gwalior are adept at integrating Vastu principles into their designs, ensuring that homes are not only aesthetically pleasing but also energetically balanced.
This skill appeals to many homeowners who believe in the benefits of Vastu and want spaces that are aligned with traditional values. From the direction of rooms to the placement of furniture, these designers consider Vastu guidelines to create harmonious and positive environments.

School on Tuesday / changes to Patreon/Substar
Tumblr media
Greetings, everyone.
I wanted to give you a (somewhat) brief update on our project and future plans moving forward. School begins again on Tuesday, and the next three months will be spent studying for an exam. We are quick learners, so it shouldn't be too tough, but depending on how obnoxious the professors become, content production may slow down slightly (but knowing myself, I work much more efficiently under pressure, lol). I'm currently finishing up concept art for the first comic chapters, and we wanted to begin working on it as soon as school started. We are fortunate to be able to use our iPads at school, allowing us to continue focusing on art and literature while away from home.
In any case, in order to avoid overloading myself with work, I will now only post to Patreon and SubscribeStar every two weeks. Throughout that time, we will continue to submit content to our Discord server. Upload schedules will become more frequent again if we can afford to freelance sooner rather than later.
Our Lore Wiki is still in the works. I'm putting together the site from scratch using a website builder, and we appreciate your patience for it a lot. <3 Our texts need a bunch of refinement, and we'd like to provide content when it's 99% ready.
We would be even more grateful for any kind of financial support, as this may effectively become our part-time or full-time work once we graduate in two years. There is a huge backlog of content on our Patreon and Substar, so feel free to check in whenever you like. For just 5€, you get access to pretty much everything we've done so far.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That being said (and it has to be said), we're taking a massive risk with all of this, as we cannot ensure if people will enjoy our project, but as the expression goes, "no risk, no fun," right? And this far it seems rather promising for how little we have to show currently... but there will be more substance to our universe once the website is up and running. We've gotten quite far within one year, and we both feel like we should've started way earlier than that, but it cannot be helped. It's both a kind of marathon and passion in one, which... don't always go hand in hand, but we're trying our best—as much as we hate coming across as pushy elaborating all of this.
Especially now, if you can support artists, please do. A lot of them will lose or have already lost their jobs to AI, and this scheme will only increase as time goes on. It's simply the reality of things. A lot of people don't realize that creatives are just like any other workers—but function a bit differently in their heads than, say, someone working on computers. It's two entirely different universes, and we frankly never see us working as anything else but creatives, as that would break us. It's simply what we were born to do. Autism and other mental hurdles also make working at a company much harder, and nobody there cares for your mental wellbeing, no matter if you're an artist, designer, coder, or builder. Without art, there wouldn't be humanity. As shrimple as that.
We'll probably need to look into some form of investor who can assist fund aspects of the project regardless if our tip jars don't work out, and we have like zero experience with it. At first, I'll try to keep us afloat through commissions, though, until we find better solutions. Every investor has some kind of catch, and we'd like to avoid that as much as possible, be it for copyright or repayment reasons. Being independent seems to be the only way to avoid going into any kind of trouble at all these days. All companies want to use people in one way or another. We're... quite scared of what the future will hold for us, and I'm sure the feeling is mutual with a lot of people.
In any case, here are the links if you're interested in either of them: https://www.patreon.com/c/transentience_studios https://subscribestar.adult/transentience https://discord.com/invite/U2UkUJ2YsN
That's all for now. Bit longer than expected- If you made it this far, thank you for reading and all the love. And as always, stay safe, everyone.

DTF Transfer Printing for Beginners: A Comprehensive Guide to Printing DTF Transfers at Home
As custom apparel and personalized items continue to gain popularity, creative enthusiasts are looking for efficient and affordable ways to produce high-quality prints from the comfort of their homes. Direct-to-Film (DTF) transfer printing has emerged as an accessible and versatile method for producing vibrant designs on various surfaces, especially textiles. DTF printing offers the advantage of application on a range of materials while maintaining exceptional color fidelity and detail. This article will introduce beginners to the DTF printers printing process, the equipment and materials needed, step-by-step instructions for printing transfers at home, tips for successful application, and the benefits of incorporating DTF printing into your crafting repertoire.
Understanding DTF Transfer Printing
DTF transfer printing is a relatively new technology that combines elements from both Direct-to-Garment (DTG) and traditional heat transfer methods. DTF printing involves printing designs onto a special film using specific inks that offer excellent adhesion and durability. The printed film is then coated with a layer of adhesive powder, which, when heated, bonds securely to the fabric. This process differentiates DTF from other transfer methods, providing vibrant prints, the ability to work with a wide variety of fabrics, and ease of application. For beginners, understanding the mechanics of DTF printing is essential for achieving high-quality results and exploring the potential of this versatile printing method.
Equipment and Materials Needed
To embark on your DTF printing journey, you'll need a collection of essential equipment and materials. The primary equipment required is a DTF printer, specifically an inkjet printer that can accommodate DTF transfer films. You’ll also need DTF inks, which are specifically formulated for this printing process, along with adhesive powder that helps form a strong bond between the transfer and fabric. Other necessary items include DTF transfer film, heat press, a weeding tool for removing excess film, and protective sheets to place between the fabric and heat press for safe application. While it may seem like a considerable investment upfront, many of these items can be purchased gradually as you become more comfortable with the process.
Step-by-Step Process for Printing DTF Transfers
Once you have gathered the necessary equipment and materials, the process of printing DTF transfers can begin.
1. Design Creation: Start by creating your design using graphic design software (like Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW) or purchasing premade designs. Ensure your design is in a compatible format and sized appropriately for your project.
2. Printing: Load the DTF transfer film into your printer. Print your design, ensuring to set it for "mirror" mode so that the image transfers correctly when applied to the fabric.
3. Adhesive Application: Once printed, sprinkle the adhesive powder evenly onto the wet ink immediately after printing. Gently shake off any excess powder.
4. Curing: Use a heat source, such as a heat press, to cure the transfer. This generally involves setting the heat press to a specific temperature (around 160-180°C) and applying even pressure for roughly 20-30 seconds. This step helps melt the adhesive powder into the print.
5. Weeding: Allow the transfer to cool, then weed out the unwanted areas of the film using a weeding tool, leaving you with your desired design.
6. Pressing on Fabric: Place your fabric on the heat press, position the transfer film (ink side down), apply the heat press again for another 10-15 seconds, and then let it cool before peeling off the film backing.
Tips for Successful DTF Transfers
To achieve the best results with DTF transfer printing, several tips can help ensure success. Begin by investing time in acclimating yourself to the equipment and practicing with various designs and fabrics. Experiment with different print settings, as printing at the right resolution and using suitable profiles for DTF printing can significantly influence the final output. It's also important to use high-quality DTF films and inks, as these will directly affect the vibrancy and durability of your prints. Lastly, always remember to conduct washing tests on fabric after the initial applications; this will provide insight into the longevity and durability of your DTF transfers and help you adjust your processes accordingly.
Benefits of DTF Printing for DIY Enthusiasts
For those interested in custom apparel, DTF transfer printing offers multiple benefits. One significant advantage is its versatility; DTF printing can be applied to a wide range of fabrics, including cotton, polyester, and blends. This flexibility enables crafters to experiment with different materials and styles without being restricted to specific substrates. Additionally, DTF transfers deliver vibrant colors and intricate details, making them ideal for creating striking designs on clothing. The process is also relatively straightforward compared to other printing methods, often requiring less upfront investment and offering rapid turnaround times for small batch production. Overall, DTF printing not only encourages creativity but also offers an efficient way to produce high-quality custom items.
Final Thought
In summary, DTF transfer printing provides an exciting opportunity for beginners and craft enthusiasts to produce professional-quality prints from home. By understanding the mechanics behind the process, gathering the right equipment, and following the steps outlined, you can start your venture into the world of custom printing today. Embrace the versatility and ease of DTF printing to create personalized apparel and accessories that reflect your unique style. As you gain experience and confidence, your creative possibilities will expand, allowing you to explore the full potential of DTF transfer printing. So grab your supplies, start experimenting, and watch your designs come to life through this innovative medium!
